Hello Everyone! I've noticed a significant lack of BOTW self insert fanfics, so I decided to write a story of my own! I'm not a very good writer, and I'm still new to writing, so let me know how i can improve!

Life is weird. Like, seriously weird, and not in a fun way either. One minute you're just vibing at home, Playing that new Legend of Zelda game like a baller, and the next a freaking truck blasts through your living room, killing you.

At least, that's what happened to me. I gotta tell you, that day was not the best day in my life, though oddly enough not the weirdest. Though i guess nothing beats seeing a fully naked man riding on top of a van blasting down the highway holding an American flag and screaming-

"MERICA! FUUCK YEAAH!" at the top of his lungs. I lived in a weird city…

But regardless, now I'm here, somehow alive again. You'd think that I would be grateful, and I am, to a certain extent. From what I remember about being dead, it mostly consisted of just vibing alone in a dark endless void. Honestly not the worst fate ( I'm looking at you pits of hell…) but certainly not the funnest. The big problem that's stopping me from shouting my thanks to the heavens, is the fact that I have absolutely no clue where I am, and to make matters worse, I'm wearing my birthday suit in what appears to be the middle of the woods. From what I can see, I'm still me from before the whole truck incident so there's another plus. No new identity to get used to. Downside is that I was a short skinny out of shape guy back then, so I guess that balances out.

A brisk breeze blows between the trees and I feel shivers running through my body. This isn't the time to recollect about how fucked i am, I need to worry about not being screwed by the laws of thermo dynamics. Glancing around me, I take a moment to take in my surroundings. In Front of me the trees seem to get denser, and the ground becomes covered with more sticks and leaves than I'm comfortable walking through barefoot. To the left of me a large boulder sits, the surrounding trees bending away from it, letting in a few rays of cloudy sunlight. The ground around the gray boulder is covered by thick tufts of grass, and large mats of moss cover part of the boulder. Glancing behind me reveals more forest (shocker!) though the trees seem to be much further apart, and the ground has very little leaf coverage. The right side…

IS STILL STUPID FOREST! Every way I turn, it's just more stupid forest, besides the boulder, though i'm pretty sure there's more forest behind that!

"WHERE THE HELL AM I !?" I shout out loud, startling several birds roosting in the trees above me. I glance upwards as they fly away, several feathers floating down. Taking a deep shaking breath, I try to calm down, as freaking the freak out isn't gonna help me. If i'm gonna get out of here, i'm gonna need to keep a level head. Fortunately, I was a boy scout when I was younger, unfortunately, it's been some decades since, and my survival skills are beyond rusty. Ha, i've totally got this.

-6 Hours later-

I still sorta got this?

Using a ton of fallen sticks and branches I was able to build a makeshift lean-to using the boulder. It wasn't the best, but I was able to fit under it relatively comfortably. The sun had set a while ago, and the only light was the few stars that could get past the tree tops, and a few fireflies that buzzed around every now and then. I wasn't able to find a way to start a fire, unfortunately, though i was able to make some kind of leaf kilt using some of the grass tied together as clothes, so that kinda helped. I had pushed out any rocks or sticks under the lean-to, and tried padding the ground with a bunch of leaves and grass. It kinda worked, though my brain was too worked up to sleep. I had been laying here for what must have been a few hours just trying to process being alive again. Why wasn't I still dead? Why was I here, in a forest of all places? Where was the forest?

What were my parents doing?

Were they okay?

Was my brother-

[CREEEAAA-BOOM!] The sound of a tree falling in the distance shot through me like lightning. The pitch black darkness seemed to deepen. I huddled closer to the rock, grabbing onto a stick I had managed to sort of sharpen. There was a soft sound of something in the distance that seemed so familiar to me, and yet I couldn't place what it was. It sounded almost like a ringing. I continued listening to the strange sound before-

[BOOOM!] The sound of an explosion swept through me, rattling the branches above me. The sound of more trees falling echoed, followed by another ground shaking explosion.

This one was closer. It seemed to be coming from the direction i was facing in my shelter.

The Strange sound I had heard earlier returned, louder this time. The Explosions seemed to be getting more frequent the closer they got. I had started to crawl outside of the lean-to in an effort to try and get out of the path of whatever was coming, when the noises and explosions seemed to just stop. I paused while exiting the lean-to, sweat rolling down my dirt covered forehead. With the boulder to my left, I could see a faint orange light off in the distance, no doubt fires from whatever made those explosions.

I had just started to shimmy back into the lean-to when the soft rustling crunch of leaves being stepped on broke the silence. The noise grew closer and closer towards my shelter from the other side of the boulder. Whatever it was that was walking towards me definitely wasn't human, as the footsteps came in threes.

[thrump-thrump-thrump trump-thrump-thrump] the sound grew closer and closer, before stopping at the boulder. I held my breath, covering my mouth with my hand to make sure I didn't make a sound.

The sound returned, though this time it was slower. The faintest sounds of what could almost be described as piano notes drifted with it. As I lay there, still mostly under the lean-to, the sound rounded the boulder and I finally saw it. It was massive, easily as big as a medium sized car. Six long tendril-like arms supported its frame, each moving in tandem with one another. Its footsteps were unnaturally quiet; only being matched by the crunching of leaves and sticks. Strange deep etches in its body glowed a sick purplish blue, illuminating the surroundings slightly. Its cylindrical head sat on the center of its body, slowly turning this way and that, its singular eye pulsing with a bright blue light. It was something I immediately recognized from my past life, as it came from my favorite game. It was a guardian from Breath of the wild.

Fuck…

Fuck…

FUCK..

I Lay mostly under the lean-to as the guardian continued on its way, thankfully not seeing me. I kept staring at the direction it left in, my mind blue screening from the shear terror i had just felt, and still felt. The fact that it was here and real meant only one thing. I was in Hyrule, and Gannon was already here, and everything had already gone to shit.

The only thing I could think of, was how utterly and thoroughly I was screwed. I did the only thing I could do in that situation. I curled up in a ball and cried like a child.

I hope you all enjoy! I would love some feedback on what you thought of this chapter. If you have any cool ideas for what i should add to this, I'd love to hear from you!
