Lisa was inspecting every inch of this nice, large chocolate cake with her poison-sensing machine in case Doug and Michelle had placed anything toxic in this very yummy cake. Much to everyone's relief, the second youngest sister announced that the cake had no dangerous weapons, or poisonous toxins in it whatsoever, and it was perfectly safe to eat off from. While Luna still wasn't absolutely convinced that Doug and Michelle completely reformed and not be evil, she was happy as everyone else was. This cake did looked very yummy for their stomachs to grasp on.
The father, being the excellent chef he was, put on his cooking hat and began slicing the cake for everyone to have, and it looked absolutely exquisite to everyone's taste buds as soon as they looked at the three layers of chocolate.
As soon as everyone got their slice on the cake, they were all more than happy to eat them piece by delicious piece. Mason, Yakov, and Jesse had to sit at a separate table together since there was not really any more room at the dining table. Of course, being Luna's loving and pretty girlfriend, Sam was sitting next to hers truly. The chocolate was so creamy and rich in flavor and taste, and the white icing that coated the whole dessert was absolutely vanilla flavored. It was almost like a chocolate-vanilla swirl flavored ice cream, but it was a different kind of dessert. "So, when we get to Paris," said Luna, "Are you sure you want to stay behind, Yakov?"
"Of course. Like I have mentioned to you before, I've been to France's capital countless times, and I have visited it ever since I was a little boy, whether on vacations or business trips." Yakov replied. "Besides, Royal Woods can still use a hero to look after things while you are away. Not to mention some father-son time to catch up on Leon."
"I know I have said this before but, good idea," said Mason before looking at the newest hero. "Would you like some help with French to help you with the natives and locals of France, Jesse?"
"Sure. But I think it sounds a little hard."
"No, it's pretty easy actually." Lincoln said. "Many English words come from French."
"Really? Cool."
"And Luna, when you do get to Paris," said Lynn Sr, "please keep an eye on your brother and keep him out of harm's way."
"You know I'm not a baby, right?" Lincoln asked
"Oh we know." Rita remarked, "we know that very well, sweetie. But Paris is a big city and it might be easy to get lost in one of Europe's largest cities."
"Yeah, we don't want you to get mugged by some cloaked criminals in the night." said Lynn Sr.
"Well don't worry. I don't think Linc here will have muggers. Not as long as he has his big sis to watch his back." then she gave him a side-hug. "Besides, we can still have fun in Paris with the Louvre and Eiffel Tower together."
Lincoln smiled. "Thanks Luna
"Well you guys are so lucky." said Leni. "I wish I can come with you guys."
"Yeah, why do you have all the fun?"
"Because we're superheroes, girl." Jesse replied. "Although I have a feeling that the tickets are not gonna be cheap."
"Not to worry." Mason pointed. "My dad is good friends with a pilot and he owns a nice little plane that can have up to thirty passengers."
Meteor chocked on his root beer but swallowed it just in time. "Really? Your dad has a jet, Mason?"
"Oui. He is a rich scientist after all."
"Oh. That makes sense." then everyone else continued eating their cake slices and as soon as everyone was finished, they were all so happy to have eaten this cake. Although, being a large cake the size of a wedding one, there was still quite a few slices of it left. Luckily, Lynn Sr has some room in the fridge to store it in for anyone who wants to have another slice of this dessert.
Luna was especially glad to have gotten a cake like this one. "Well, I guess I'll have to say 'thanks' to Doug and Michelle the next time I see 'em. Although I should still be careful with them." she then patted her belly three times.
"At least it wasn't poisoned." Sam said. "I mean, we all feel fine."
"True that." said Lincoln. "So Jesse, we should probably put your powers to use against the bad guys."
"You read my mind, dude." Meteor agreed. "Maybe like on a mugger or a burglar that's robbing a store. But I want to keep a low profile. I don't want to risk exposing it to my dad while he's on patrol duty." Everyone put their plates away and the heroes went outside the winter weather in the suburbs, and Jesse was ready to face some bad guys that might disturb the peace in the nice town of Royal Woods.
Luna and Lincoln were on an ice slide together, Mason, Jesse and Sam were flying, and Yakov was driving his car to follow his own comrades to look for any injustice to thwart. Near Gus' Games N' Grub, there was an armed robbery at the fun pizza place, one of Lincoln's favorite hangouts when he is not in school. A couple of armed goons, probably up to ten or eleven, had assault rifles and shotguns in their hands as their weaponry and they had black masks over their heads to hide their identities from the cops when they arrive on the scene (and no doubt; they will in a little while). The heroes noticed the smoke coming from the windows and stared to see what was going on.
"Looks like we got ourselves a robbery." said Yakov. "Prepare yourselves, comrades. This could get as ugly as the battle of Stalingrad."
"Right!" he cohorts remarked before all of them walked over to the armed thugs. Luna froze a couple of the thugs' guns in their hands, deeming them useless now, much to the goons' dismay
"What- Oh no." said one thug
"It's the heroes." a second one added.
"That's right." said Sam. "You guys are all washed up."
"Think again, my dear!" said a British voice. It was the Duke, coming out with a large bag of money in his right hand. "And who is this?" he noticed Jesse, who was ready to fight some crime for the first time
"Call me Meteor, and give up before this encounter gets a rocky turn of event."
"ooh hoo hoo. Tough talk, but words do not frighten me! Back in my dad, there would be bodyguards and mercenaries in Liverpool that would make people pee their pants, just as soon as they would look at them." What is this anyway? A superhero bargain sale?"
"You could say that." said Yakov. "But you are about to face justice again, Duke of nobodies. Mason stopped you before, he can do it again."
"Oh. That's where you are wrong you mechanical ruffian." the Englishman retorted. "This time, I have some help with me." he whistled with his two fingers and there were large, armed mercenaries with LMG's in their hands, looking quite scary and intimidating. They also had machetes on their sides in case they run out of bullets, and they had muscles
"Wow, where did you get these guys?" asked Sam
"former soldiers in the queen's army themselves. Either rejected for being too... aggressive, or quit because joining the royal ranks wasn't good enough for them. Now you will be the ones who will lose! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
The Duke began laughing and cackling maniacally that his eyes were rolling around in circles, and he eventuallt began coughing from laughing too hard, much to the disturbance of everyone (except for Mason, since Duke and him are longtime rivals.)
"I think you need some serious help, bruh." Luna said, nodding her head in disapproval.
"Nonsense, my dear!" Duke said. "Let you know that I am perfectly sane in the head. Anywho, enough talk. My friends; ATTACK!"
The large men cocked their machine guns, and were ready to fire on the heroes. "Say goodnight, puny weaklings." said one of the large goons in a booming voice.
"Uh-oh." Luna remarked. "Get behind me! Get behind me!" Her brother and friends did just that, and Luna created a large shield over her and the others to protect them from the machine gun bullets.
"Oh this is going to be sweet!" said Duke. "Revenge is a dish best served 'cold' after all."
"We're taking heavy fire, Luna!" Sam said.
"Don't worry, we'll give some too." Luna said. "Jesse, remember the training!"
"Got it, Luna." he raised his hands, and two large rocks came from the ground, and he risen them above the ice shield that he was being protected with, and he threw his arms down, and the boulders hit two of the large men, knocking them out cold, and the guns flew out of their hands. Luna used the ice shield in two with her own powers and threw it at the other two heavy men, knocking them out as well
Duke looked worried and pulled out an Enfield pistol, and fired it at Mason, but luckily, he burned the bullets with a wave of green fire from his right hand, and the Duke dodged the wave so he wouldn't get cooked into a crisp.
Without warning, the other henchmen charged at the heroes, and Jesse was finding himself against two of the goons, and he knew that this was for real. If he made one wrong move, then it could be game over for him. He held his ground, and blasted a ray of light at the first guy, sending him flying at a dumpster, and he was up against just one person now, and the strong man charged at Jesse. He threw a couple of punches at his stomach, and it hurt, but Jesse had training on how to deal with certain pain like punches and kicks before he and the others went out like this.
Meteor retaliated and began throwing punches in the guys face nonstop, and ultimately, he gave the goon a powerful uppercut, rendering the guy unable to fight anymore. "That's how it's done." he said
"Meteor, look out!" Mason said.
The newest hero looked behind him and tried punching him, but Jesse was fast and he dodged many strikes before sweeping the mercenary's legs, knocking him to the snowy ground, and finished him off with a powerful elbow strike into the face. More bad guys were coming in and Meteor pulled out more boulders with his powers and used his mind to spin them around and knock more opponents off-course.
Mason was fighting the Duke again with his French saber and Duke with his fancy Cavalier sword. "You never learn to quit and give up, don't you, Vieil homme? (old man)."
"Not until I show every one of you who is truly victorious!" Duke replied before swiping more strikes at Mason. "you can't just leave well-enough alone, can't you Color Fire?"
"As long as you commit acts of evil and villainy, I will always be there to stop you." then Mason began punching Duke a few times with his sword's hilt-guard, and by the look on the crazy old man's face, it was quite painful, and it even made him lose a tooth from impact of another punch. Alas, the old man was tougher than he looked and tried catching his rival off-guard with his pistol, and tried shooting him a couple of times. Mason dodged every bullet that the Duke was coming towards him, and one even hit a tree nearby while the fiery hero ran for some cover.
Sam noticed him reloading his British revolver, and it was the perfect moment for her to charge at Duke and tackle him to the snow, making his gun fly out of his right hand. "No one tries to shoot my friends!" Sam said
"Get off me, stupid girl!" Duke struggled.
"I am not stupid! I am smarter than you think!" Sam retorted. She used her left hand to grasp the Duke's head with her fingers, with her thumb on his forehead. Before Duke could react any further, Sam used her electrical powers to zap him on his forehead from her own thumb, and it made the villain twitch and squirm from the electricity. His lips began to blubber even from the shocking impact, leaving him stunned. At first, Sam was a little worried that she might have killed him, and she said: "Uh-oh. Guys, he's not dead, is he?"
Luna went up to the unconscious Duke and gently pressed her left hand against his neck, and she sighed in relief after a few long seconds. "Nah, he's still alive. Just unconscious."
Sam was so relieved to hear the good news from her girlfriend. "Good."
Jesse, Lincoln and Mason took down the remaining henchmen and eventually, they were all down, and the police arrived just in time. Little to Jesse's horror, his dad was there and leading the squad. "Ah, right on time." said Duncan. Then he noticed the newest superhero looking uncomfortable and a little worried. Duncan was a really smart man, and it was one of the many reasons why he is the chief of police. "Hey, who is this? A new hero?"
"Yeah." Jesse replied in a deeper voice to hide his real one. "My name is Meteor and I have the power to control light and earth around me."
"Wait... that voice." said Duncan. "Wait... Guys, can I talk to you for a second please? The rest of you officers take the bad guys in custody."
"Aye aye, sir." said a second officer.
Duncan, and the heroes went to an alleyway and Duncan said: "Jesse? Is that you?"
"Jesse? I have no idea who that is, sir." Meteor continued playing dumb again. "Is that someone I should look to?"
"Oh come on, I know a voice and face when I recognize it."
"His name is not Jesse sir," said Luna, trying to vouch for her friend. "Honest, he's-"
"No, it's okay, Luna." Jesse sighed in defeat and unveiled his cool mask. "Okay, yes. It's me dad."
"How... how did this happen?" Duncan asked
Sam was about to reply the whole story to the chief, but Jesse kindly stopped her and explained it to him instead. "But I've had really good training dad." he said, "I mean, you're out protecting the city and innocent people from any dangers. And i'm doing the same, just with superpowers now. And i'm going to become a really good superhero."
Duncan was silent for a moment, and he said: "Well, I gotta admit, i am surprised that you actually got your powers from that rock before. Kinda gave me a scare. But why didn't you tell me that you got powers right away as soon as you found out?"
"I was worried that you would freak out." Jesse admitted. "You always like to protect the family from the smallest details sometimes. I was worried that you would have a stroke or a heart attack."
"Oh. Well, I admit, maybe i do get carried away with some small things but... did you put up a good fight?"
"I managed to get footage of him fighting some bad guys before you came." Lincoln admitted before pulling his phone out and showing it to the chief. "See? He's a great fighter and he can be a big help to you guys. Come on, you should be proud of him."
Duncan smiled and he said: "I am proud. Seeing this footage, I think my boy here will be a great superhero." then he gave Jesse a pat on the back. "Just make me proud, dude. I was just surprised. And i'm not mad. The thing is, being a chief of police is the most stressful job in the world, along with being a president or a ruler of a country. Worrying about the lives you need to save, stopping criminals from causing any harm or mayhem around you, criminals committing crimes without us even knowing, it's hard work. That's all. But don't worry, just be careful out there, Jesse. That's all I ask. Or else, your mama would kill me if something bad really happened to you."
Jesse laughed. "Thanks pop." His friends then smiled at relief on how understanding Jesse's father was. "And dad, there's something I gotta tell ya." he then talked to his father about the trip to Paris and how he wanted to go with Luna and the others.
"Paris? Well, that's different. Not like a school field trip, that's for sure."
"Come on dad, it's only for a week and i can take care of myself."
"Well... okay. But i need to talk to your mom about it, and we would want hourly updates on how you are doing in Paris. But the question is, with the heroes in Paris, who's gonna keep the peace in Royal Woods if we, the police, are unable to help?"
"My friends and I have already disputed over that matter." Yakov remarked, "I'll stay behind and take care of the city while the rest of my comrades are in Paris. I would like to spend more time with my son, and besides; i have already been to Paris more times than I can count."
"Perfect. That sounds perfect." said Duncan. "You might wanna put the mask back on, Jesse. Wanna protect your identity, right?"
"Right." Jesse did as his father suggested and all the bad guys were in jail cars, being hauled away into prison.
The Day Arrives
At last, Lincoln, Luna, Mason, Sam, and Jesse were at the airport with Sebastien, who was in front of his little passenger plane. The Loud family was there to tell Luna and Lincoln good luck in France. "I mustn't cry." said Lynn Sr. "I musn't"
"Oh come on, dad." said Luna. "It's not like we're dying or going to college."
"I know, but it still looks sad and painful either way." Lynn Sr sniveled. "You kids grow up so fast."
"Don't worry, we'll be just fine." Lincoln remarked. The two siblings got on the plane with Jesse as the last person.
"Attention everyone." said the pilot, "We are going to go faster than normal planes and try to get their in at least an hour. In the meantime, buckle up and keep the seat-belts on at all times."
As soon as everyone was settled in, Sebastien sat next to his son, and the plane took off in the sky. During the flight, everyone was practicing their French with Mason and his dad, trying to perfect every greeting and how to say goodbye to a person. The tips the two French people were giving to the heroes was very helpful, for it would be helpful to all the locals of Paris as well.
"Alright, we are coming in for a landing. Brace yourselves." said Sebastien. The landing was a little forceful, but what mattered was that; everyone was on French soil now. Everyone had to go through the process that airports would do; security, passport checking, and others. Everyone was waiting in the Charles De Gaulle airport and a large van came up to the group while waiting for a ride. "Arno!" said Sebastien, recognizing the driver.
"Sebastien! comment allez-vous?"
"Ca va bien, mon frere." the two men hugged as if they were close.
"Kids, zis is Arno Dumas, my younger brother. He is going to show us to the guestroom we will stay in Paris."
The young heroes were getting more and more excited with this every second. "I can't wait!" Lincoln said. They all hopped in the van and the heroes were amazed by the beautiful sights in France's largest city. Obviously, the Eiffel Tower was shown for miles, and the buildings were old-fashioned. The streets were rather more narrow than the ones in America, and Jesse looked at the cafes that were open. "So beautiful." Lincoln added
"So cool." Sam agreed
"Dude, this is awesome. Us in Paris, can you believe that?"
"How can we not believe you?" Mason said. Yes, this trip is going to be a good one.
