Chapter 19

Dreams come True

Brenda

This impromptu sort of elopement is more than I could have dreamed. Dylan knew this plan could have gone 50/50. Some women dream of planning their wedding and perhaps might have been a little taken back. Let's be honest my guy knew me better than anyone. This idea was so me it was kind of ridiculous. I was always spontaneous and at times even irrational. This felt like a whirlwind wedding and I loved everything about it. I wasn't one for extravagant affairs. The thought of planning a wedding seemed daunting and unnecessary. I just wanted to marry him. I would have went to the court house to be honest but I knew Dylan better than that and deep inside he knew me better than that too. My mom and Donna had picked the most perfect venue. It was held at Catalina Island's Descanso Beach Club. It was a beautiful beach front backdrop right on the sand. I loved how everything was a surprise, a surprise I didn't have to wait for. I knew the reception was to be held at Catherine's Terrace which from the outside looked a lot like the Beverly Hills Beach Club. Without the green and pink thankfully.

I look forward, my arm delicately in the crook of my fathers arm and all I see is rows of white chairs. Draped on every first aisle chair hangs white dahlias, roses and wisteria vine. It's breathtaking and poetic. In the center there is a tall white arch adorned with the same flowers all around it. In the middle of that gorgeous white arch is my Dylan.

My breath escapes in a small gasp when I see him.

I faintly hear my father whisper "it's time" as we start our decent down the white runner down the sand.

As I walk down the aisle, my heart beats to a harmonious melody, all my dreams are coming true at this very moment. It's almost as if time stands still and no one else matters besides the person standing at the alter beside the minister. There is a euphoric state of mind, every sense is heightened, and nothing in the world will ever compare to the moment when two people officially become one.

With every step I take, my handsome soon-to-be husband is inching closer. He has changed too, now dressed in a tuxedo with his hair perfectly styled. And while his beauty will forever render me speechless, I capture how his eyes fall upon me as I walk towards him.

How, in one simple stare, he's climbed into my soul and made us a home.

We reach the end, where my father gently laces a kiss to my cheek. I draw a breath, excited to get through the formalities so I can officially be married. His hand brings my hand up as he gently places it into the warm receiving hand of the man I love.

Our minister, an older man, begins the ceremony while I stand beside Dylan, desperately trying to keep my hands at bay and not touch him more than our enclosed hands.

"Today we gather to lift Dylan Michael McKay and Brenda Victoria Walsh up in celebration of ever-lasting love. In the presence of their beloved family and friends, Dylan and Brenda will pronounce their love through this ceremony and begin a lifelong journey together."

I stand still, a smile fixed on my face while I try to focus on the minister.

"Who gives this women to be married to this man?"

My parents both stand up, and behind me, they say, "We do."

Unwillingly my stomach flutters at the sound of my parents voice. My smile, while contagious, masks the sudden wave of emotions. I beg myself not to cry. Nothing will change between my parents and me. If anything, they're welcoming another son. So why does this feel like the end of an era? Like I'm flying the coop but in reality used my wings years ago to move to London. As if Dylan can sense my emotions, he squeezes my hand gently. Our eyes lock and I'm floating on this high once again. In those brown eyes there is intensity, unconditional love, support, respect and a protective glow behind them. In that moment I know Dylan will always love me and protect me.

"Please be seated. When it comes to finding that special person in your life, sometimes you just know. And as we witness Dylan and Brenda gaze lovingly into each other's eyes, it is obvious to everyone here that they know and have known for quite some time.

Now, storybooks and romance novels talk of love at first sight and that's all right, I suppose, but I much prefer the notion of "Love at each sighting". Each time you see one another, you feel the love that has been growing inside you from the very first time you lock eyes to the next and to the next and all the way up to right now. And each new time you see one another that love grows stronger. It remembers the past, imagines the wonderful future that will be and fills your heart with joy at each new encounter. And from each day to the next you know that this is the one, you know this is the person that you belong with forever. You just know. Dylan has asked me to share this special selection from Persuasion by Jane Austen."

Trying not to cry is impossible. I look at Dylan, his eyes are already on mine, sparkling with his own unshed tears. Dylan knew how much I loved that book. When we were together in London, he would read out loud to me before bed. He would joke and playfully make fun of me when it came to my love for the Jane Austen classics, it wasn't one of Dylan's favorites. Too sappy he would say but I knew deep down he enjoyed it or maybe it was just because I had.

We smile at each other, only knowing this private joke.

"I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone forever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it... Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you."

My hand goes to my mouth as I exhale the breath I had no knowledge of holding. Tears slip easily down my cheek.

"Dylan." I whisper.

His free hand reaches up, wiping the tear from my cheek. A look of adoration on his beautiful face. "None but you." He whispers and I completely and utterly melt.

My hand lays over his upon my cheek, we clasp lovingly as we lower them so they are rooted tightly in between us.

"Dylan, from this day onward, do you choose Brenda to be your wife, your best friend and your only love? To live together, play together and laugh together; To work by her side and dream in her arms; To fill her heart and feed her soul; To always seek out the best in her; Always loving her with all your heart, until the end of your forever?"

"I do." Dylan grins

"Brenda, from this day onward, do you choose Dylan to be your husband, your best friend and your only love? To live together, play together and laugh together; To work by his side and dream in his arms; To fill his heart and feed his soul; To always seek out the best in him; Always loving him with all your heart, until the end of your forever?"

My lips curve upward as I murmur. "I do."

"Dylan and Brenda will now exchange rings as a symbol of their love and commitment to each other. Rings are a precious metal; they are also made precious by you wearing them. Your wedding rings are special; they enhance who you are. They mark the beginning of your long journey together. Your wedding ring is a circle—a symbol of love never ending. It is the seal of the vows you have just taken to love each other without end."

Brandon and Valerie both join us to our sides, my brother hands Dylan a platinum antique looking wedding band. It matches my great-grandma's ring like it belongs together.

"Dylan, please place the ring on Brenda's left hand and repeat after me:

"As a sign of my love

I have chosen you

Above all else

With this ring, I thee wed."

He slowly slides the ring onto my finger, lifting it gently to seal it with a kiss. The minister redirects his attention to me. Valerie then hands me his ring.

"And Brenda, please place the ring on Dylan's left hand and repeat after me:

"As a sign of my love

I have chosen you

Above all else

With this ring, I thee wed."

I slide the ring on his finger. We continue to hold hands, the warmth of his touch making it impossible to let go.

"To make your relationship work will take love. Continue to date each other. Take time to show each other that your love and marriage grows stronger with time. It will take trust to know that in your hearts, you truly want what is best for each other. It will take dedication to stay open to one another—and to learn and grow together. It will take loyalty to go forward together, without knowing exactly what the future brings. And it will take commitment to hold true to the journey you have both pledged today."

"And now by the power vested in me by the laws of the state of California, I take great pride and pleasure as I declare you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.

Dylan tilts his head and cups my face to whisper, "I love you."

"I love you too, husband."

A small satisfactory growl leaves Dylan's lips as he brings them to mine. Our lips touch together softly, making our first kiss as husband and wife absolute perfection. Dylan's hands leave my face and encircle tightly around my waist, pulling me flush against him. He deepens the kiss, as my arms wrap tightly around his neck. I feel the subtle touch off his tongue on mine and I take it with greed. You know us, this wasn't going to be some surgery sweet peck. When Dylan and I kiss it's all consuming. I hear the applause as we're lost in each other taking me back to the fact we are making out in front of all our family and friends. I hear Steve whistle loudly. We finally pull away, grinning like fools, as I squeal with excitement while he holds me in his arms tightly. I bounce a little knowing what comes next as I hug him, I feel a gentle kiss on the side of my head.

"Ladies and gentleman, I now present to you Mr…and Mrs…McKay." More applause from our family rings out once again. We both turn around to see everyone on their feet now. I feel grateful for all the love and support pouring towards us. My brother is the first to approach us. His smile is wide as he takes both hands grabbing Dylans shoulders with a gentle shake as Valerie moves towards me. I watch as my brother bear hugs my husband as they both loudly slap each other on their backs. I hear faintly, "Brothers."

"For life." Dylan responds.

Valerie and I hug tightly as more tears of happiness roll down my cheeks.

"Congratulations…you made me cry. Everyone knows I don't cry." She whispers emotionally in my ear.

"Sorry." I smile as I gently wipe the tears from under my eye.

"Don't be…I'm so happy for you."

We hug again and when we separate my brother takes me in his arms. He squeezes so tightly I let out a laugh. When he lets go, he keeps me close. A smile wider than I have ever seen on him. "You happy?" He whispers.

I nod, more tears flow freely. I should just give up at this point. "It's like a dream."

He laughs and nods too, "For me too. I'm so happy for you guys." He admits and we hug again.

It isn't long before we arm and arm make it down the aisle before we are bombarded with the rest of the family and our friends. Steve hugs me and lifts me off the ground.

"Mrs. McKay you look hot as hell. You look beautiful." He corrects himself after a smack from Janet.

I flush, "Thanks Steve." He holds me tighter.

"Alright alright. Get off my wife." Dylan jokes but to hear him call me that does something I can't even explain in words.

The whole entire gang hugs us and sends us congratulations. Iris is last to hug her son tightly. She is crying openly with a wide grin. "Finally." She breathes. "Like it always was meant to be."

Dylan I half expect to roll his eyes but he doesn't he simply laughs with tears in his eyes as he looks at me. His hand takes mine again. "You got that right mom." He replies and I see Iris visibly touched at the sentiment of being called mom. She moves to me next.

"Oh Brenda." She gushes. "You're radiant."

"Thank you." I whisper. As we separate she grabs my hands so they lie between us.

"I always knew this was suppose to happen. I couldn't have asked for a better daughter-in-law. I told you your relationship with Dylan wasn't over, that it was just one moment."

Dylan wraps his arm around me, "In a very long life time." I finish for her.

"You remembered?" She smiles warmly at me.

"Do I even want to know what you guys are talking about?" Dylan asks curiously.

Iris winks at me, "Nothing dear…none of it matters anymore."

Truer words have not ever been spoken. Dylan and I's past is exactly that, in the past. None of it matters anymore because today is the first day of our new life…our new forever. I have loved this man since I was sixteen years old. Always choosing him, standing by him, believing in him. And today…he finally chose me.

Erica rushes me with a hug, "Best sister-in-law ever! Do I get exclusive pick at your single hot friends now?" She pulls away with a wide smile causing me to laugh.

"No." Dylan answers causing Erica to roll her eyes playfully at her protective big brother.

"Wait in line, Val claimed first place."

"Touché, that girl needs to get laid." We giggle and hug again.

"Laid? What do you know about getting laid?" Dylan pulls me to the front of him when we separate.

Erica winks at me, "Nothing big brother…no clue what you're even talking about."

I giggle and I hear Dylan groan from behind me. At that moment a man who is in some sort of waiter uniform directs us to the reception.

"If it isn't you it will be her that puts me in jail or an early grave." I smile and kiss him softly to ease his frustration, works like a charm.

Inside the events room at Catherine's Terrace it is a gorgeous sight. Windows surround us with views of endless ocean. The entire space is decorated beautifully. Everywhere you turn the same glorious white flowers are arranged, even hanging from the ceiling. The main attraction of the room is the one dining table, perfectly styled with candlelight and the same color scheme as the flowers, white. It looks classic, romantic like a midsummer nights dream. My mom and Donna were behind all the planning and according to mom, I'm shocked to hear Kelly and Valerie despite her big mouth, not my words, were involved also.

We take our seats while the waiters begin serving the food. I'm too excited to eat, constantly looking over at Dylan while gushing. He catches me staring once again, only to lean over and whisper in my ear, "You will need the stamina tonight, Mrs. McKay. I suggest you eat." He pulls away with a lustful smile and that has me squirming.

I bow my head, praying no one sees the flush in my cheeks and the smirk that followed. In front of me, I drink the champagne, which goes down way too easily.

Just before dessert is served, Erica tinkers on the glass to prompt us to kiss. While fun when a guest at a wedding, the tradition is tiresome when you're on the other side and forced to kiss in front of everyone every two seconds. And between Erica and Valerie it is literally every two seconds. I love kissing Dylan but the only thing this little tradition is doing is making it really really hard to want to stay present and not drag my new husband to the nearest broom closet.

I watch as Brandon taps on his champagne flute standing with it to quiet the room. Dylan reaches for my hand under the table as our attention directs at my brother.

He clears his throat, "As honorary best man." He winks with a smile at us. "I figured I should start the speeches. Brenda came barreling into this world exactly 4 minutes after me and has been stealing the attention ever since." The table chuckles even Dylan, I playfully roll my eyes, "She captured the hearts of everyone around her with her performances of musicals and monologues, aways putting on a show when we were little. My family moved to Beverly Hills and I'll admit the land of the rich and famous seemed daunting to me but for Brenda it was exciting. You see little Brenda was far to bright and shiny for our old stomping grounds of Minneapolis. She came to this town met friends right away and seemed to shine just as bright as always. I on the other hand seemed to always be one step behind her until I met Steve and Dylan. Just when I started feeling like maybe I'd be ok in this town, the real friend I found in Dylan found my sister. Go figure." The group laughs, "I remember seeing the sparks between them right away. At first I wasn't all that keen on my sister dating Dylan McKay but it didn't take long to see how happy he made her. Also the change in my friend was astonishing. The guy that liked to be alone all of a sudden was happily dragged to every school dance, every party and just about anything my sister made him do. And in that, he became family. I've been routing for the two of you for what seems like a lifetime. To see what you two got right at only 16 years old all over again in this adult life. To see the brightness in Brenda continue on without having the person she is with try to extinguish it." I wipe my eye as I feel Dylan caressing my back. "You two complement each other so well. Bringing out the very best in each other. I owe my sister so much, she was always there for me even when I didn't want her to be, even when I wasn't the best brother to her. She cares deeply, loves wholeheartedly and she did me the best thing a sister could ever do. She made my best friend my brother." Brandon raises his champagne glass to us, "Continue to love each other, continue to bring out the very best parts of each other, continue to grow together and laugh together, In the words of Ronald Reagan, "There is no greater happiness for a man than approaching a door at the end of a day, knowing someone on the other side of that door is waiting for the sound of his footsteps." Dylan you always have a family with us. If I can give you one last piece of advice when dealing with my sister for the rest of your life is," Brandon smiles wider, "Whenever you're wrong, admit it; whenever you're right, shut up. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. McKay. To many many many years of happiness and…it's about damn time! Chin chin." Dylan and I laugh at that and stand. Brandon makes his way to us and with tears in my eyes he hugs me tightly.

"Thank you." I whisper "I love you so much."

"I love you too little sister. I'm so happy for you."

I nod too emotional to speak as he kisses my cheek. He moves to Dylan. Their handshake turns into a brotherly hug quickly. "Take care of my sister." Brandon whispers.

Dylan nods against him, tears brimming his beautiful brown eyes, "With my life." He promises. "I love you brother." He adds.

Brandon smiles widely as they separate, his hand coming to Dylan's shoulder, "I know you will and I love you too."

When we settle down and take our seats again my father stands with his champagne, our focus goes to him and I hear Dylan release a shaky breath. Remembering my father's speech at Austin and I's sham of an engagement party, I know Dylan well enough to know he's been waiting for this. Maybe his whole life. How hard it was to see Austin get the approval he'd been wanting for as long as he's known my family.

"I want to start off by thanking you all for putting aside your hectic lives to be here for this impromptu wedding my wife, Donna, Valerie and Kelly so thoughtfully planned. It's been a truly beautiful day, thank you. I remember the day I became a father so vividly it seems like hardly any time as past at all. As I look at my daughter, Brenda, I can't help but reflect on all the years I was lucky enough to watch her grow and become the beautiful woman she is today. She captured my heart on the day she was born, and I became more and more in awe of her as the years passed by. She's my little girl, my princess, and my ray of sunlight, and no matter what her age, she'll always be those things to me. Dylan came in to her life at a time when all I wanted was to push her growing up aside. The little girl that looked to me like I hung the moon and stars, starting looking at another man with those same bright eyes. All of a sudden Dylan was everything to her. And I will be the first to admit, I hated it." The table smiles knowingly. "No matter what hurdles came in between the two of you, myself included, I never saw the love you had for each other lessen. I never saw the spark distinguish. You only have to be in there company for a few minutes to realize they are best friends as well as soul mates. Completing each other so fully I'm not quite sure how they went on with out the other for as long as they did. But today, as I watch my little girl marry a wonderful man, I'm filled with pride and am confident that she and Dylan are about to embark on a beautiful journey filled with the love and happiness that can only come as man and wife. I must say that this is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. Although it is overwhelming to give your daughter away, it is so satisfying to know that she is marrying one of the greatest men I've ever met. If I had to choose someone for her to be with, I would not pick anyone else." Dylan quietly gasps, I looks at him as a single tear quickly runs down his cheek. I snuggle closer to him, he doesn't take his eyes off my father but holds me close to him. "Dylan, I am confident that you will take care of my daughter. You have been like a son to me no matter how many times I tried to screw this thing up. I'm so proud of the man you've become. Brenda, oh sweetie." My dad's voice breaks, "You make me proud every day. I know I wasn't prepared for you to meet the love of your life at sixteen years old. You've never stopped amazing me. With your courage, warm heart and strength. With your ability to see things in people that the rest of us don't at first. I know you've always loved that man sitting beside you. Maybe you haven't always known but that man sitting beside you has always loved you too. Everyone, please raise your glass for the bride and the groom. May your marriage endure. May you grow old together. And may you love each other more with each passing day. May you be blessed with many children, in which one is a daughter, so Dylan my son, you know exactly how it feels to look at her like this perfect treasure, only for a boy with one earring, a motorcycle and a heart of gold to take her away from you." My father winks as Dylan groans. "Your mother and I are so happy for you both. Congratulations! Cheers!"

The applause rings out so loud, I'm openly crying now. Dylan beside me as emotional as I've ever seen him. My father hugs me so tightly as my mom hugs Dylan. There are whispered sentiments between them that only they know. My father then moves to Dylan. They shake hands, as my father pulls Dylan in for a fatherly hug. I faintly hear Dylan's "thank you sir."

When my father and Dylan separate, my father's tender hand lies on my cheek, "Take care of each other."

We both nod and receive brilliant smiles from my dad. I can't help but smile as I look at my husband. He is glowing with happiness and it's electric.

Shortly after the speeches, Dylan and I make your way on to the dance floor to dance our first dance as husband and wife. The song I won't give up plays as Dylan sways me back and forth. He spins me in true Dylan fashion and pulls me to him roughly.

"Did you pick this song?" I smile listening to the perfect lyrics that describe our love and life together.

"I did. It's pretty prefect for us."

"I think so too." Dylan pulls me closer. My arms naturally wrapping around his neck tighter. I stare at his beautiful eyes.

"Happy?" He smiles, leaning in to kiss my lips.

"I never want this night to end."

Dylan smirks, "Oh my dear wife, it must end," he teases, running his finger down my arm, causing me to shiver in delight. "See, I have plans for you tonight. And you wouldn't want to disappoint your husband on the first night of marriage, now would you?"

I smile and playfully roll my eyes, "I hate to break it to you but I'm not a virgin…but you already knew that considering it was you who took my V card."

Dylan chuckles leaning his forehead against mine. "First and last baby." He whispers proudly.

I giggle and kiss his lips tenderly. "You know what I've never done?" Dylan looks into my eyes curiously, "I've never had sex on a yacht before. You know my husband owns one, a big one that's docked right down the beach from here."

Dylan laughs, leaning his lips against my ear. "A naughty wife, how did I get so lucky?"

"You didn't give up on me." My expression serious. I don't miss the way our new song flows around us. "You fought for us."

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough

I'm giving you all my love

I'm still looking up

"We're worth it…you're worth fighting for." Dylan breathes, emotion thick in his throat. His eyes holding mine intensely.

As I stare in the depths of his eyes, our family and friends join us, each couple dancing to the soft melodies of Jason Mraz, making this the most perfect day.

There is so much love in the room, and as I take a moment to let it all sink in, I wonder how I got so lucky to be blessed with such a beautiful life.

To be loved unconditionally no matter the mistakes I've made in the past.

Yet the greatest gift of all is the man who has been there all along. Since that first meeting at his locker at West Beverly, when his eyes looked so deeply into my own it captured me instantly. His heart was always destined to belong to me.

My husband…Dylan McKay

We celebrate well into the night until our family begins to leave, retiring to a near by hotel. Dylan and I walk hand and hand towards the resort. Before we come to it though, Dylan moves swiftly picking me up bridal style and changes direction towards the marina. I giggle out loud and I hear Dylan's laugher as he races down the pier. It's music to my hears and I stand corrected…this just made the perfect day. The free and fun and pure love feeling as Dylan carries me onto the boat.

As soon as my feet hit the floor of the yacht Dylan is kissing me. It's feral and rough and I love every minute if it.

"I'm going to make love to you on every surface of this fucking boat." He breathes hot and needy against my lips.

As our gorgeous wedding clothes litter the boat we start on the back bench, the bow, in open air, the boat rocking with the ripples of the marina. I laugh out loud as Dylan's thrusts mimic the rhythm of the ocean. We aren't there long before I'm picked up, still attached and taken to the next stop, the cock pit. Up against the helm Dylan pounds into me. The marina so quiet you hear the sounds of our lovemaking clearly. I'm moved again in the cabin, the kitchen, the dining table, the hallway wall, then finally the stateroom, where my back hits the bed softly. It's hard to think during all the sex and movement but I'm throughly impressed Dylan hadn't left my body once. He rocks into me relentlessly.

I moan loudly, "We have to get a boat in London." I speak breathlessly.

"No need, I'm not selling this one." He groans loudly.

"Really?" My tone makes him slow a little and look into my eyes.

He shakes his head. "This boat is ours Mrs. McKay. There is no way I'm selling this boat now. It's not worth the 8 million dollars anymore." He pushes in deeply and I gasp.

"EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS! Are fucking kid…".

Dylan's mouth is over mine shushing me. His tongue tangles with mine to shut me up. The kiss is slow and fast and everything in between, it's all consuming. He separates his lips from mine, continuing to make love to me slow but forceful. I don't know if it's because of the most perfect day, Dylan's dick or hearing we are literally fucking on every surface of an 8 million dollar boat but my orgasm comes out of nowhere.

"Fuck…Dylan I'm coming." I moan loudly, my eyes pinching together as my body convulses around him.

"Fuck baby…fuck." Dylan swears feeling me shutter strongly and he's right behind me with a throaty long groan.

We slow, and eventually stop, deep breathes fill the luxury cabin of this yacht. It takes a couple minutes before Dylan exhausted now rolls to his back. We lay beside one another, breathing heavily staring at the ceiling. All of a sudden we break out in a fit of laughter, my stomach hurting as I look at my husband's face. His wide grin matching mine. "First and last." I repeat.

"It's going with us." He rasps. "I don't know how the fuck we will get it there, but this boat is going with us."

I laugh out loud but my heart soars. I love this boat, named after me, proposed with and christened, he's right, there is no way someone else should have it. It's ours.

Dylan moves closer, pulling me so our faces are close. "I love you my wife."

I smile, "I love you my husband. Thank you for the most perfect day."

Dylan smiles, "The best is yet to come." He murmurs before slowly kissing me softly.

He's right, our happily every after as Mr. and Mrs. Dylan McKay.
