Yes, Lincoln was starting to like this Jenny more and the fact that she was a superhero made it even better than before. He wondered to himself: "Do I have a chance with her?" or "Would I be good enough for her? I mean, she loves Ace Savvy and video games as much as I do." on the inside, Lincoln had a few doubts like "I don't have powers like she does, so... nah. Probably. I'm sure I'll find love one day." and decided not to dwell on it so much. Jenny was explaining to everyone about her powers still and how well she learned how to use them. They were all taking a break from their training in the underground lair, and having a water or drink break. While sipping some cola, Lincoln couldn't help but ask: "Does your family know about the powers?"
"No," jenny admitted, "but my dad was really mad at the space station, even though it was an accident. I'm sure if my family finds out, they might freak out with mass hysteria. They might think I'm a monster of some kind. My dad might disown me if he found out probably."
"Oh come on." said Luna. "They're your family. They might be proud of you if they found out. Look at it this way, they might notice something is up after you come up with excuses to go out fighting crime and lie to them many times. If they have a problem, then we can just explain to them how you got those powers and how you just didn't want them to freak out. Granted, our family can be... a lot, but we know the value of it."
"Right." said Yakov. "We'll help you in explaining it to them if need be."
"If they won't accept you, then... you shouldn't call them your family at all." Mason added.
"I know." said Jenny.
"And we'll help ya any way we can, girl." said Jesse.
"Thanks guy. But, I might explain it to them someday in the future if needed. Or... unless they become suspicious enough."
"Just look at us, our families know who we are." said Sam. "They don't have a problem with us being superheroes, right?"
"True. But, your skin and hair have permanently changed when you got powers. Same with you, Luna, so you can't really hide that from other people. And... Yakov, you weren't always like that. I don't want to offend you."
"No, it's quite alright." said the meta-human. "There's really no need for me to hide my true self. Back in my day, many people would judge me a lot for my... almost robotic appearance. But, times have changed, and people have grown more tolerant of people like me now."
"My dad knows that I'm a super, and he's the chief of police." said Jesse. "So there's no problem with that."
"It's not like the wizarding world surrounded by the world of No-majs." said Mason.
"I know. That's true." said Jenny.
"And it's a fair point about me and Sam's skin." Luna admitted. "But we're heroes and people here are very accepting."
"I know."
"Well Jenny, welcome to the team." said Luna. She reached out a welcoming hand and Jenny promptly shook it, showing it that she accepts this obvious invitation.
Yes, it was good to have another member on this team of superheroes. Jenny would prove to be a valuable friend and ally to everyone here, and they would have a greater chance in fighting a greater threat thst could possibly happen someday. Something as bas as Arno trying to take over France, or worse.
"Thanks guys." said Jenny. "i'll exhaust any bad guy with my super speed and pound them with my Tae Kwan Do moves."
She made a few acrobatic kicks and did a couple of flips to show her athletic abilities.
"Yep, we feel more unstoppable." said Mason. "Maybe you can tie Hairdoom in a large knot with a tornado you can create from your speed."
Jenny laughed and said: "Yeah! that sounds like a fun idea."
"And you can create a tornado with water from a nearby lake to flush out Living Taser." Jesse said with a smile. "Water is that turd's weakness."
"Noted."
"I guess it's safe to take a breather from this. We've been training in here for two hours."
"Agreed." said Luna. "Radical job, guys."
"Yeah. And I gotta admit, you did a very nice job detaining that Heart Attack, Jen." Jesse remarked. "It was funny too. You should have seen the look on her face when she was flailing to be let go from the cops."
"Right?" said Jenny.
"Sue was flailing like a squirrel with a seizure." Yakov said. "Or a little boy after drinking kerosene wothout even knowing."
All of them laughed. "So when we face another supervillain, who's it going to be?" asked Sam
"Good question." Lincoln pointed. "Anything can happen." he took another sip.
Luna's phone vibrated and looked at something: "Hey dudes, look at what Russell sent me. A video of a dog on helium."
They all watched it together and began laughing at how silly it was. It was certainly something that would normally happen every day, and it got tons of views for a reason.
Later on in the day, Lincoln and Luna were sitting together on the couch and watching TV, where they were watching the news about how Jenny took Heart Attack, and her hired goons by herself.
Of course, Heart Attack doesn't have powers, so it might be a little more difficult against villains with superpowers
The phone rang and Luna answered it. "Hey, this is Luna speaking." she sounded perky but her smile turned into a frown after a few seconds. "Oh man. I'm so sorry about that. Is there anything we can do to help?" she paused. "Sure. We can do that. Thanks for letting me know, miss Olga. Ok. Yeah, bye."
As she hung up the phone, Lincoln asked. "What's going on?"
"About what happened at where Pop Pop lives." Luna said slowly, "seven elderlies died from food poisoning."
"Oh no." Lincoln said.
"Yeah. But they invited us and the guys to the funeral that is going to happen later this afternoon."
"Sure. I can come."
They all went to the nursing home again, and there was already a funeral happening with a large group of people in chairs mkstly composed of elderlies who lived in this place, and the families of the seven deceased people, who were three men and four women.
Taking reserved seats in front of the reception, the heroes were greeted warmly by Albert, Myrtle, Nana Gail, and other kind senior citizens. Miss Olga was the one hosting the funeral. "It was a terrible loss." she announced as the crowd in front of her was silent. "They were humble, kind, and honest. I can assure you that what our former nurse did was unforgivable. But the pain, we all feel inside, brings us closer together than ever before. Always remember that because of these heroes in front of us" she pointed at Luna, Mason, Jesse, Yakov, Lincoln, Sam, and Jenny. "that we are safe from any more danger. They have saved the day for us, and prevented any more lives from being taken. Always remember that, and these deaths will never be in vain."
A sound of sad violins and violas were heard in the funeral, along with the sound of piano music playing. Talking with one another, Jenny said: "at least we saved everyone else."
"I know." said Lincoln.
Albert walked up to the group and asked: "Everyone ok here?"
"Just fine, pop pop." Luna said. "I wish we could have saved those guys. Grr, I feel bad for the families."
"It wasn't your fault." said Albert. "You can't save everyone."
"We all know very well who's to blame." Sam said. "And that Sue will get a double life sentence."
"I hope so. Back in my day," Albert remarked, "prisons were very brutal and it was all about solitary confinement and hard labor, like a Russian gulag."
"I wouldn't go that far, Albert." Yakov admitted. "The Soviet Union gulag labor camps were far worse than American prisons."
"I wouldn't doubt you on that." said Luna. "But I wasn't born when the Soviet Union was around.
"Fair point." Yakov noted.
"I was," said Albert. "We would regularly have duck and cover drills in case the communists tried to bomb our beloved home during school."
"We just need to be prepared for whatever happens from any of or nemeses." said Sam. "At any given moment. It could happen in a minute, or an hour or two."
"We'll always be prepared." said Luna. "We're superheroes Sam. What can happen?"
"I wouldn't jinx it." said Jesse.
As soon as the funeral was over, they all went back to their normal lives and Lincoln was stopped by Jenny. "Hey Lincoln." she said. "You want to see something really neat?"
"Sure. What is it, Je- I mean Lightspeed."
"Take my hand."
Lincoln blushed and said: "okay then." slowly doing just that, he felt a sudden jolt in himself like he was in a roller coaster and Jenny was running extremely fast. Yes, this really felt like a roller coaster to him. Maybe even faster.
At last, she stopped on the outskirts of the city in the woods to find a beautiful waterfall. "I found this a couple of weeks ago."
"Nice!" Lincoln said. "It's so beautiful."
They walked in front of it to take a closer look and they suddenly tripped on something, accidentally falling and Jenny fell on Lincoln this time.
"Sorry!" Jenny said
"No. I'm sorry. I am just ao clumsy."
"No, i'm the clumsier one." the girl laughed nervously. Something would tell Lincoln anf his sisters thay this might go perfectly.
