Lincoln could hardly believe that Jenny liked him as much as he liked her in this matter. Still, he was so relieved to get it out of his chest and that the butterflies had fluttered out of his stomach. It was as if negative emotions were leaving him.
"Well, I guess it's official." said Lincoln.
"We both like each other."
"Yep. We do." Jenny smiled. "Admittedly, I wanted to get to know you more before I would ask you out. It's already been a week since we've met, and we fought crime together for a little while."
"Got that right." Lincoln pointed. "But I think your dad is going to flip out once he finds out about this."
"Oh he'll be fine. If there is a misunderstanding, mom can always talk him around. If dad won't listen to me or my brothers, then he can listen to her."
"Good point. I'm just glad he didn't give me a black eye the first time we met."
Jenny laughed at this remark and said: "Lincoln, you probably know him better than that."
"True. And besides, I'm a superhero. And you're keeping your identity a secret from them anyway, so it doesn't really matter so much."
"Right. And I can always talk to them if I want to reveal my superhero persona." Jenny pointed.
Meanwhile, Luna and Snowball were looking over in the distance to see how these new lovebirds were playing out. "Well, looks like things are working out better than expected it would be like." said the pig. "Just look at them. It is simply so adorable."
"Right?" Luna agreed. "Isn't it precious? I mean, it looks like they might have kids in the future."
"I wouldn't really go that far, but what's happening now is a good start." Snowball pointed. "It is way too early for them to think about having kids."
"I know. I know. But look at them, it's like they're soul mates, like Bobby and Lori. If they ever want to go out on a date then my little bro can ask me for help."
"I'm sure that he will be fine if that happens, Luna." Snowball admired. "But it is wonderful to have a sibling like you to be in his life."
"You've probably had a lot of siblings. You know, being a pig and all."
"Oh yes. Of course there is the runt of the litter. I used to be one of those, but i underwent this wonderful transformation in me. Long before i drank the brain serum."
"It's probably more stressful to be a pig when it comes to brothers and sisters."
Snowball let out a small, exasperated groan before replying. "It is. Trust me Luna, it is."
Back to Lincoln and Jenny, Lincoln said: "to be fair, i thought i was too cool for you. You have powers and i don't."
"Come on. You're still a superhero without them. You're still a savior of France." Jenny pointed.
"Right." they both slightly looked away from one another, sheepish and shy about one another. "So when we're not out there saving the world, what do you want to do?"
"Well we can come over to my house to play some video games. Just be careful wjen my brothers tackle you. They can be a little too rough."
"Not as rough as Lynn. She can be like a living tank. Don't even get mr started on the Dutch ovens."
"Ah! my brothers do that to me! it's so disgusting." Jenny groaned.
"Maybe we can put Lynn and your brothers together in a room." Lincoln joked.
"ooh, there's a thought." Jenny smiled. "They would be perfect together." and they both laughed at some stuff.
"Well, how about we kinda keep this from your dad." Lincoln kindly suggested. "I mean, I don't want him to yell at you or ground you for falling in love with me."
"Don't worry about him. Like I said, my mom will talk him around, and my brother will vouch for me."
"OK."
Luna and Sam were sitting on the park bench with the snow around them, and more snow lightly falling on this nice, yet cold winter day. Luna then said to her: "Need a blanket or a jacket, Sam? I can always fly back home to give you one."
"No, it's ok, Luna." Sam smiled. "I'm ok out here."
"Just trying to make sure you don't get a cold out here is all." Luna remarked.
"I know, thank you." Sam remarked. "Hey, I here that Lincoln got himself a new girl." she gave a bigger smile
"That he did, Sam. That he did." Luna gently bumped sam's right elbow with her left one. "My baby bro is quite the ladies man. You should see the fan girls who are drooling all over him. Especially since he's a superhero now."
Sam made a small laugh before saying: "That wouldn't surprise me. The girls his age really want him."
"And boys his age would want to be him."
Both of them made a small laugh about it. "Got that right, Luna."
"They're both superheroes and they love comics and video games. Maybe Lincoln has found a perfect soulmate."
"I hope so. Love can be a beautiful thing. As long as it's not toxic."
"Yeah, toxic love is the worst kind of love." Luna smirked. "And it's unhealthy, like hero worship. Though there might be some people who do that to us."
Sam nodded her head in agreement. "Only the insane kind of people, yes. But that's kist a few people in the world that are insane."
"True. People like Living Taser and Hairdoom. Those guys need to be put in the funny farm... with extra security and a laser barrier around the place."
"We can ask Lisa to do that for the most insane and dangerous criminals." Luna's cohort suggested.
"Good idea. If anyone can invent anything in the world, it's her." Luna crossed her arms behind her head in relaxation. "They say she's too young to get a Nobel prize, but age doesn't matter. I mean, in the civil war, both sides allowed drummer boys to march on the fields to die."
"Yeah. Rules against child labor weren't that big of a deal back then as it was now." Sam said.
"Right? But now more people care about kids here so no kid will have to die on the battlefield under the age of eighteen." she looked around at the snowy surroundings again, and the snow was continuing to fall. "Are you sure you're not very cold?"
"positive."
"So Sam, I still want us to... you know, get back together. But like I said, if you're not ready, i'm cool with it. No pun intended for that last thing I just said."
Sam looked a little unsure and slightly looked away from her. By the looks of it, she still looked rather conflicted about what happened last time. "Honestly..." said Sam, "I want us to be back together too, but... I don't feel ready to completely patch things up just yet."
Luna frowned. She realized that the scar that she created between her and Sam didn't go away yet. Yet again, what Kuna did was something that Luna can never take back so easily. "Oh. I see." said Luna.
"But, we'll get back up there someday."
"I know, i know. We can't just rush this kind of stuff." Luna sighed. "But i promise to never hurt you like that ever again."
"I know Luna. And thank you." Sam gently placed a hand on Lun'a left hand. "I don't know when exactly we will be back together, and it might take months."
"Or even years?" asked Luna, looking guilty.
"Yeah, maybe. But, who knows? All we can do is slowly rebuild our relationship."
"True. So there's still hope for us. I know there is."
"Me too, Luna. Me too." Both of them smiled and looked at one another.
Three days passed and Lincoln was playing some video games with Jenny and Clyde at Jenny's house this time. Jenny's father was a little protective of his only daughter, but his mother was there to reassure him that she will be ok.
"So you're a chef?" asked Jenny to Clyde.
"Yep. I know how to make the best cakes in Royal Woods. Jacques, my chef, helps me out. When you ever have a birthday coming, you can ask me for a cake, Jenny.
"Totally. I'll keep that in mind, Clyde.
"And thanks for inviting me here, Lincoln." Clyde said.
"Of course, you are my best friend after all, and we're like brothers."
"Ain't that the truth." Clyde nodded.
"Uh-oh. I ate a bad lasagna." Jenny felt her stomach growling. "I'll be right back."
"Sure."
As Jenny exited the room, Mr LaRue came in the bedroom, looking cool and collected. "Kids alright up here?"
"Just fine, Mr. LaRue." Lincoln said.
"You're daughter is really cool, sir." Clyde remarked.
"She's one of a kind, Clyde." then he turned his attention to Lincoln, sitting on Jenny's bed. "Have a seat."
Lincoln did just that and sat on the bed next to him. "So what's going on?"
"Jenny told me about how you make her really happy." Horace began explaining. "And I know very well what that means."
"You know?" Lincoln asked
"Oh yeah. I know how a boyfriend and girlfriend get together when I hear about it."
"Look," Lincoln finally said. "OK, me and Jenny are... a thing now, but I'm a good person. And I am a superhero after all."
"I know. I know, Lincoln. I am grateful for how you are a hero and all. But, I wanna tell you this."
"Tell me what?" asked the white-haired boy.
"Be good and be the best boyfriend me daughter can ever ask for. Treat her like the most special girl in the world and make her happy."
"Absolutely. I promise." Lincoln noted.
"Good. Because, if you break her heart, step out of line, or hurt her, then... there will be a heap of trouble. If you hurt Jenny, you gotta deal with me." he narrowed his eyes.
"I... understand." said Lincoln.
Clyde himself was just as intimidated as his friend was. Mr. LaRue was definitely one of those protective dad types.
"Good. And you don't want to know what happened to the last boy who stood her up."
"I promise to treat her perfectly." Lincoln said. "But what if she breaks up with me? Not saying I would want that happen. It's supposed to be-"
"I know, I know. It's a hypothesis scenario." said Horace. "From the looks of you guys, I doubt that will happen any time soon, but if she breaks up with you, then I wouldn't worry about it."
"Oh."
"Dad." Jenny came back from the bathroom. "You're not threatening Lincoln, are you?"
"No, of course not." Horace replied. "I'm just... giving him a little talk."
"dad, there's no way Lincoln would ever break my heart. He is a superhero."
"I'm just looking out for my little girl." Horace noted.
Suddenly, Lincoln's phone rang and answered it.
"Sorry, I gotta take a phone call." he picked up the phone and listened. "Hi Lori, what's going on?" He listened and listened to his big sister's conversation and he gasped. "What, Ronnie Anne's gone missing?"
