Happy new year, everyone and again, sorry for the long delay. Working on the Xmas special and trying to get other stuff done just kept pushing this further back.
Writing is my passion but work is slowly killing it. I'll give my job a couple more months but if it gets worse, I'm done and will focus entirely on my writing.
Also, I've uploaded more snippets for you all to enjoy. They may not seem like they're done but I just didn't feel like adding notes to them.
First, reviews:
Katana of the Blade: Thank you, my friend! Yeah, the idea for that mostly came from Old Wolf Logan's reaction fic. Though his was more "fanmake" versions of films but the way Pyrrha was in that fic just got stuck with me plus she also just seems to be someone that likes being herself when not worrying about the paparazzi. And yeah, it'll be even worse for them later on~
Chronosign: First, he wisened up immediately during initiation and through his friends' help. Second, please don't remind me of those things. Third, which characters are in that ship? If it's PennyxWeiss then I've got good news for you if you've read the special.
Joanne Frances Tiano Cajilig: Thank you kindly.
GojiraFan455515: Yeah, sorry that it took so damn long to get it updated.
The Keeper of Worlds: Thank you!
1jesus: Glad that you're interested and you don't need to apologize for asking. As for if I'm interested, you'll see~
OmniUIShaggyOverexaggerated: Yeah, they'll see how petty he is in due time.
Gamelover41592: Indeed.
Guest (December 5th): Yeah, they'll watch it in time and for Ghostbusters, I have an idea for that.
Guest (December 7th): Katana spoke to me about it and I will definitely do the first one. The second one however, I would rather shoot myself in the foot with a nail gun repeatedly than watch that film again.
Dragonmasterlex: Question is, who will bring up Ruby's near death experience?
SiriusBlack921: Nope, I'll let someone else handle them instead.
Hmm, maybe I should reveal what I have planned after X-3 once this movie is done since so many people are making movie requests. What do you guys think?
Anyways, on with the reaction!
Edit: Thank you Katana for the new/additional reactions!
The screen promptly switched to a news flash.
Qrow shook his head. "You just had to say it, didn't you, Bob?"
"In a stunning turn of events, a superhero is being sued for saving someone who, apparently, didn't want to be saved. The plaintiff, Oliver Sansweet, who was foiled in his attempted suicide by Mr. Incredible, has filed a suit against the famed superhero in Superior Court."
Sansweet's Lawyer was speaking to the press. "Mr. Sansweet didn't ask to be saved, Mr. Sansweet didn't want to be saved! And the injury received from Mr. Incredible's "actions", so called, causes him daily pain!"
Mr. Incredible called them out. "Hey, I saved your life!"
Sansweet rebutted as he struggled to keep it together. "You didn't save my life, you ruined my death! That's what you did...!"
Everyone winced at that. Glynda sighed. "And this, students, is one of the flaws of the vigilante system. There are those that wished to be killed or commit suicide and become angered when we save their lives."
Mr. Incredible tried to call out the obvious scapegoat but his own lawyer stopped him before he could dig himself a bigger hole.
The newsreel continued as it showed him in another lawsuit. "Five days later, another suit was filed by victims of the El train accident. Mr. Incredible's court losses cost the government millions, and opened the floodgates for dozens of superhero lawsuits the world over."
Blake clenched her fist. "That was due to that kid that the accident happened."
Qrow sighed. "Welcome to the world of politics, kid. They don't care about the why or how it happened, only that they have a scapegoat for the aftermath." (1)
A judge from the supreme court gave the heroes their ultimatum. "It is time for their secret identities to become their only identity. Time for them to join us, or go away!" Mr. Incredible sadly turned away after announcing his forced retirement from crime fighting.
A protest against superheroes was seen while many didn't realize the effects that this decision would have on the world at large. "Under tremendous public pressure, and the crushing financial burden of an ever mounting series of lawsuits, the government quietly initiated the superhero relocation program. The supers will be granted amnesty from responsibility for past actions, in exchange for the promise to never again resume hero work."
Team RWBY looked at each other in worry as they realized that their fight against Roman's stolen Paladin could've had serious consequences. (2)
"Where are they now? They are living among us. Average citizens, average heroes. Quietly and anonymously continuing to make the world a better place."
15 YEARS LATER
An elderly woman looked at the claim in shock as it was denied. "Denied? You're denying my claim? I don't understand...I have full coverage!"
Bob sighed as he hated this part of his job. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Hogenson, but our liability is spelled out in paragraph 17. It states clearly-"
Mrs. Hogenson stammered. "I can't pay for this!"
Bob was obviously depressed as he heard his phone ring. "Excuse me." He answered the phone. "Claims, Bob Parr."
It was his wife and fellow ex-hero, Helen, who was giving their son a bath in the kitchen. "I'm calling to celebrate a momentous occasion. We're now officially moved in."
The adults from Remnant looked in shock at what the woman was doing. Winter looked at Sunset. "Is she washing her child in the kitchen sink?!"
Sunset sighed. "Yuuuup. Better get used to it as this was not a safe time for kids and babies, as you'll soon see." She shook her head. "Welcome to the 60's, everyone. 1962 to be specific."
"Yeah, well, that's great, honey. And the last three years don't count because…"
Helen looked behind her. "Because I finally unpacked the last box. Now, it's official." She laughed with her baby. "Why do we have so much junk?"
"Listen, honey, I've got a client here."
"Say no more. Go save the world one policy at a time, honey." She saw the time and put her hand over the soap bottle before her son could suck on it. He giggled when he sucked on Helen's hand. "Oh! I gotta go pick up the kids from school. See you tonight."
"Bye, honey." Bob hung up before giving his attention back to his client. "Excuse me. Where were we?"
Mrs. Hogenson was sobbing. "I'm on a fixed income, and if you can't help me, I don't know what I'll do."
Bob took several glances before giving the woman a notepad and pencil. "All right, listen closely. I'd like to help you, but I can't. I'd like to tell you to take a copy of your policy to Norma Wilcox on…" He tapped the notepad before continuing as the woman immediately got the hint and wrote down what he was saying. "Norma Wilcox. W-l-L-C-O-X. On the third floor. But I can't. I also do not advise you to fill out and file a WS2475 form with our legal department on the second floor. I wouldn't expect someone to get back to you quickly to resolve the matter. I'd like to help, but there's nothing I can do."
Glynda chuckled. "Good to see that he's still doing good work even if he's stuck within the insurance bureaucracy."
Mrs. Hogenson tried to thank him but Bob told her to keep it quiet before he shouted. "I'm sorry, ma'am! I know you're upset!" He whispered for her to play along.
Coco rolled her eyes. "Real subtle there, Bob."
Mrs. Hogenson pretended to be upset while she walked away as Mr. Huph approached Bob's cubicle and he was angry. "PaaaaaaaAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!" He threw some papers onto Bob's desk which startled him. "You authorized payment on the Walker policy?!"
Bob tried to explain his reasoning. "Someone broke into their house, Mr. Huph. Their policy clearly covers..."
Mr. Huph, however, didn't care one bit. "I..I-I-I don't wanna know about their coverage, Bob! Don't tell me about their coverage! Tell me how you're keeping Insuricare in the black! Tell me how that's possible, with you writing checks to every Harry Hardluck and Sally Sobstory THAT GIVES YOU A PHONE CALL!" Mr. Huph walked away while Bob sat down and sighed in defeat.
Emerald's jaw dropped. "Jesus, what a fucking asshole."
Sunset sighed. "Had to deal with people like that during my first few years as a dimensional liaison. It was not fun."
Meanwhile, Helen had arrived at her eldest son's school and entered the Principal's office. The man politely greeted her as she sat down. "What's this about? Has Dash done something wrong?"
Nora smirked. "20 lien says that he has super speed." Everyone rolled their eyes as that was kinda obvious from the name.
Dash's teacher pushed up his glasses. "He's a disruptive influence and he openly mocks me in front of the class."
Dash looked at his mom. "He says."
"Look, I know it's you! He puts thumbtacks on my stool."
Helen looked at the teacher incredulously. "You saw him do this?"
"Well... not really... No! Actually, not."
"Oh, then how do you know it was him?"
The teacher smirked as he brought out a remote. "I hid a camera. Yeah, and this time, I've got him." Dash's eyes widened in fear as Helen glared at him. The teacher played the footage before looking at them. "See? You see? You don't see it?"
Yang rolled her eyes. "Helps if you're not blocking the screen."
Teams WBY and JNPR along with Qrow looked at Ruby when Yang said that while the young Reaper was confused. "What?"
He sighed, and rewound the tape but didn't move out of the way. "He moves! Right there! Wait, wait!" He rewound it again. "Right...there! Right as I'm sitting down!" The teacher began to lose it. "I don't know how he does it, but there's no tack on my stool before he moves and after he moves, there's a tack! Coincidence? I think NOT!"
"Why does that feel like it's going to meme SUPER hard?" Cinder questioned.
Qrow chuckled at this. "You're not wrong, toasty." He said, before shaking his head and made a note to make a better nickname for his youngest niece's girlfriend. "But also, doesn't this guy sound like the world's biggest conspiracy nut? I don't even think Ironwood's that paranoid." He stated, to which everyone nodded.
The principal tried to placate him. "Uh...Bernie..."
Bernie rolled his eyes. "Don't 'Bernie' me!" He said calmly before shouting at Dash. "THIS LITTLE RAT IS GUILTY!"
Glynda growled at this. "Inexcusable! Yes, the boy may cause you trouble, but to constantly shout at him and call him such names in front of his mother! This teacher is incredibly unprofessional." She berated the teacher.
The principal looked extremely embarrassed by his colleague. "You and your son can go now, Mrs. Parr. I'm sorry for the trouble."
Bernie looked at him in shock. "You're letting him go again?! He's guilty! You can see it on his smug little face!" He ranted about Dash's guilt while Helen and Dash left as Dash smirked about getting away scot free and not for the first time apparently.
"That man should NOT be allowed to teach young children." Winter stated.
"He looks like he shouldn't even be allowed NEAR small children." Coco said.
Helen looked at her son and spoke to him as she drove to pick up her other child. "Dash, this is the third time this year you've been sent to the office. We need to find a better outlet. A more...constructive outlet."
Dash pouted. "Maybe I could, if you'd let me go out for sports."
"Honey, you know why we can't do that."
"I mean, obviously it would be cheating, but is there anything wrong with them using their power? Being superheroes was made illegal. Not using their superpowers." Velvet stated.
"And besides, I'm sure there are some sports out there that aren't totally reliant on speed and it would be fair for Dash to play in." Jaune pointed out.
"I promise I'll slow up. I'll only be the best by a tiny bit."
"Dashiell Robert Parr, you are an incredibly competitive boy. And a bit of a showoff. The last thing you need is temptation."
"You always say, 'Do your best'. But you don't really mean it. Why can't I do the best that I can do?"
Yang blinked. "I know this is an important scene but I noticed two things right now."
Sunset sighed. "And what were they?"
"The baby is facing the front of the car and not the back, the other is the lack of any seatbelts." The Remnantians' eyes widened in horror as Yang was right.
"Yeah, not gonna talk about the baby but for the seatbelts? They weren't mandatory until 1968 in the States and 1977 in Canada." Yang held Neo closer. "Yeah, like I said, dangerous times." (3)
"Right now, honey, the world just wants us to fit in, and to fit in, we just gotta be like everybody else."
"But dad always said our powers were nothing to be ashamed of. Our powers made us special."
"Everyone's special, Dash."
Dash went right back to pouting while Helen glanced at him as she wasn't a fan of this either. "Which is another way of saying no one is."
The students all looked down a bit at this. Most of them very much enjoyed using their semblances, whether in combat or every day life. They either couldn't or didn't want to imagine having to hide them so those who haven't unlocked their auras and semblances felt better. "That's why we began to name our children after colors. So each and every one of you would be unique and individualistic, not simply carbon copies or unoriginal." Glynda stated.
"Indeed. And Semblances do greatly help, but even those without them can be incredible in their own right." Winter said, causing Jaune to be inspired.
Meanwhile, at Western View Junior High, a girl was waiting outside by the doors with a shy smile before turning around when the bell rang. A boy exited the school before turning around and waiting for his friends. The girl looked at the boy with affection.
Pyrrha groaned at seeing this as it reminded her of when she was trying to get Jaune's attention before they got together.
Velvet's ears shot up. "My shipping radar is going off!"
Tony chuckled with some of his friends as they joked about the girls crushing on him. He stopped and looked at where the shy girl was but saw nothing as she had made her head invisible. When he left she was excited as she whispered to herself. "He looked at me." A car horn got her attention as Dash called out to her, revealing her name to be 'Violet'.
Blake blinked as she started to figure out something and tried to mentally speak to Sunset. "C-Can you hear me, Sunset?"
Sunset glanced at Blake. "Yes, I can hear you. What is it Blake?"
"What's the baby's name?"
"Jack-Jack but he doesn't have any powers."
"Well there goes that theory." Blake didn't notice Sunset smirking at tricking the feline Faunus into thinking that Dash and Violet's names weren't based on their powers.
Later on, Bob was on an interstate highway, heading home from Insuricare, but was stuck in the rush hour traffic. He soon slowly arrived home with his under-sized hatchback. When he got out of his small car, he slipped on a skateboard and muttered. "Darn kids. Sitting on the driveway." He noticed that he had accidentally crushed part of the roof of the car. "Oh, great."
Bob attempted to shut the car door with increasing frustration. The third time he slammed it closed, only for the door window to crack and shatter. He lost his temper and lifted the car over his head, only to see a child on a tricycle staring at him. The child's bubblegum bubble popped. Bob put the car down, and checked the kid before he went into the house.
"Yep. TOTALLY nothing to see there!" Yang said with a laugh.
"He didn't see anything." Nora said in a strange voice waving her hands in front of her face.
It was now time for dinner at the Parrs' residence and Helen was feeding Jack Jack while making faces as she fed the baby.
Dash sighed. "Mom. You're making weird faces again."
Helen disagreed with Dash but Bob said otherwise which made her look at him and saw that he was reading the paper. "Do you have to read at the table?" Bob answered her like he wasn't listening. She rolled her eyes and sighed as she saw Dash trying to pull his steak with his mouth. "Smaller bites, Dash. Yikes! Bob, could you help the carnivore cut his meat?" Bob sighed and got up to cut Dash's steak. "Dash, you have something you wanna tell your father about school?"
Dash nervously spoke. "Well, we dissected a frog."
"Dash got sent to the office again."
Bob responded like he was on autopilot. "Good. Good."
"No Bob, that's bad."
That snapped Bob out of it. "What?"
Yang, Ruby and Qrow winced at that as they could remember days where Taiyang was on autopilot due to it being Summer's birthday or his anniversary to being married to Raven.
"Dash got sent to the office again."
Bob looked at Dash in surprise. "What?! What for?"
Dash looked at his mom and spoke through his teeth. "Nothing."
Helen looked at her son. "He put a tack on the teacher's chair...during class." Dash grumbled that nobody saw not even on tape.
Bob was surprised and looked at Dash in pride. "They caught you on tape and you still got away with it? Whoa! You must have been booking. How fast do you think you were going?"
"Bob! We are not encouraging this."
Qrow chuckled. "This was me and Tai when Ruby discovered her semblance."
No one noticed Sunset's brow twitching. "At least before it became overpowered to the point that it made no sense."
"I'm not encouraging, I'm just asking how fast…"
"Honey!"
Bob had accidentally cut through the plate and into the table, he sat back in his chair and grumbled. "Great. First the car, now I gotta pay to fix the table…"
"The car? What happened to the car?"
Yang snickered as she had seen her dad give Uncle Qrow the same look when he brought home dinner from a noodle cart.
Bob gave Dash his plate and took the knife along with the paper as he got up and left the room. "Here. I'm getting a new plate."
Helen cleared her throat. "So, how about you, Vi? How was school?"
Violet sadly poked at her food. "Nothing to report."
"You've hardly touched your food."
"I'm not hungry for meatloaf."
Ruby walked over to her sister and hugged her reassuringly as Yang had gone through something pretty similar when she had her first break-up. Ruby whispered into Neo's ear. "Break her heart and Cinder's fire is the least of your worries, Neo." Neo got the hint and held Yang close while Ruby went back to cuddling with Cinder.
"Well, it is leftover night. We have steak, pasta. What are you hungry for?"
Dash smirked and teased his sister. "Tony Rydinger."
Violet glared at Dash. "Shut up."
"Well, you are."
"I said, SHUT UP, you little insect!"
"Well, she is."
Helen looked at her children. "Do not shout at the table." She called out to Bob. "Honey!"
Bob immediately replied. "Kids! Listen to your mother." Helen was unamused as they went back to eating dinner.
Jaune laughed at that as he remembered his sisters teasing Saphron about her crush on Terra, which ended up with his parents having a similar conversation.
Dash smirked and spoke into his cup. "She'd eat if we were having 'Tony loaf'."
Violet threw down her fork. "That's it!" Violet lunged at Dash and they started fighting.
Helen stood up and tried to get them to stop as Dash started running around to hit Violet before he ran into a forcefield made by his sister. Violet laughed while Dash held his head. "Hey, no force fields!"
Violet mocked him. "You started it."
Helen stretched and wrapped her arms around her children to try to get them to stop but they just ran under the table and continued much to Helen's pain.
Meanwhile Bob was in the kitchen and opened the paper while grumbling to himself until an article caught his eye. "'Simon J. Paladino, longtime advocate of superhero rights, is missing.' Gazerbeam."
That caught Glynda, Emerald, Blake and Jaune's attention as they mouthed 'Missing?'.
Helen called out to him. "Bob! It's time to engage!" He came back into the dining room and saw the chaos. Helen looked at him for help. "Do something! Don't just stand there! I need you to... intervene!"
Bob walked over to the table. "You want me to intervene? Okay! I'm intervening!" He picked up the table along with Helen, but the kids were still fighting. "I'm intervening!"
"Violet, let go of your brother!" The doorbell rang, which got the fighting to stop.
Jack-Jack looked at the door and spoke. "Hello?" The family quickly went back to their regular positions like the fight never happened. Bob told someone to answer the door.
Dash answered the door and smiled. "Hey, Lucius!"
Lucius smirked. "Hey, Speedo! Hey, Helen. Vi, Jack-Jack."
Dash ran back to his seat at the table while Bob spoke to his friend. "He-hey! Ice of you to drop by."
Yang giggled. "Gotta remember that one for later." Ruby and the Schnee sisters groaned at that.
Lucius did a fake laugh before deadpanning. "Never heard that one before."
Dash spoke with his mouth full of water. "Hey, Lucius!" He spat the water towards the former ice hero. Lucius dove for the water and froze it before he caught it to Dash's disappointment. "Ohh... I like it when it shatters."
Emerald looks at her tails in wonder as even in her memories, she can't recall trying to find out what element she can manipulate as she was satisfied being able to make people see things that weren't actually there. "I think Momma called it, Genjutsu?" (4)
Bob smiled as he got up and grabbed his coat. "I'll be back later."
Helen looked at him in confusion. "Hey, where are you two going?"
"It's Wednesday."
Helen sighed as she remembered now. "Bowling night. Say hello to Honey for me, Lucius."
Lucius waved as he and Bob left the house. "Will do. Good night, Helen. Good night, kids." Bob slammed the door.
"Does anyone else think Bob seemed a little too eager?" Ren questioned.
"Yeah. I mean, I enjoy a couple rounds of bowling, but I never rushed Port and Oobleck out the door for it. Something else is going on there." Qrow agreed.
Helen looked at Dash, who smiled nervously. "Don't think you've avoided talking about your trip to the principal's office, young man. Your father and I are still gonna discuss it."
Dash sighed. "I'm not the only kid who's been sent to the office, you know."
"Other kids don't have superpowers. Now, it's perfectly normal…"
Violet became angered at that word. "Normal? What do you know about normal!? What does ANYONE in this family know about normal?"
Blake's ears folded back while Velvet's ears drooped down while their respective girlfriends held close and reassuringly rubbed their backs. Emerald whispered softly to Blake. "It's okay, Blake. You're not alone." She kissed her girlfriend softly and gently placed her forehead against Blake's as she decided to act on her feelings. "Not anymore, my mate."
Blake blushed from the kiss and from Emerald saying that she was the hanyou's mate. "E-Emerald, before we commit to this. Y-You should know that we might have one m-more Faunus with us when we return to Remnant."
Emerald smirked. "Let me guess, she had a crush on you and you want to return her feelings while still being with me?"
"I-I never said that they were a girl."
"You didn't have to and I'm okay with a three-way relationship. As long as we love each other, my naughty ninja~" Blake blushed even more and started thinking about getting Weiss to help her put together Helen's superhero outfit from the beginning of the movie for Halloween to tease Emerald.
Sunset smiled softly at seeing Emerald acting on her feelings after Lex told her that Blake had kissed Emerald yesterday after receiving her book. "About damn time, I was almost gonna have those two sit and watch one of Rarity's trashy rom-coms if they delayed it any longer." (5)
Helen looked at Violet in shock. "Now, wait a minute, young lady."
Violet was on the edge of breaking down. "We act normal, mom! I wanna be normal! The only normal one is Jack-Jack! And he's not even toilet trained!" Jack-Jack just laughed as he thought it was funny.
Dash mumbled. "Lucky…" Helen looked at Dash in confusion. "Oh, I-I meant about being normal."
Neo chuckled. "Nice save."
RWY, Emerald and Cinder looked at Blake in concern. Yang gently put her hand on Blake's shoulder. "Did you go through this while wearing your bow, Blake?"
Blake solemnly nodded. "I thought that by hiding my ears, I could look 'normal' but I forgot how active my ears were."
Ruby scratched her cheek. "It did explain your love of tuna and why your bow twitched at times."
Sunset sighed. "Yeah, showing you all this film first was a good choice as the hiding your powers part of this film will play heavily into the X-Men series. Though it will require a few additional participants."
Blake looked at the mare in worry. "Please don't tell me that he's gonna join us."
Sunset shook her head. "No, if anything, both him and Mercury will have accidents when you return to Beacon. It will be three specific people that you know very well, Princess Belladonna."
Blake's eyes widened and blushed badly as she realized who exactly will join them. Ilia and…her parents. She curled into Emerald's tails to hide from the world. "Kill me now."
(1) - Biggest example is the Sokovia Accords in the MCU.
(2) - The fact that nobody died from being flung around says a lot but I have seen others bring up how reckless it was of them to do that.
(3) - Yeah, this surprised me that it took until '77 for seatbelts to become mandatory here, nine years after the US.
(4) - Yeah, her abilities are now enhanced to the point of being strong Genjutus in Naruto.
(5) - The events that happen in the snippets and in Lessons are canon to the reaction stories.
So another chapter is done, I'm just gonna concentrate on transcribing first and then handle reactions so it will go by a little faster.
Thank you all for the faves, follows, reviews and suggestions. It will be a while before the next chapter, I'm not making any promises for when it will come out due to being pressured with the time I gave myself for the Christmas special.
This is church2550 signing off til the next time, I'll see you then.
Stay safe out there, Guardians.
