残り:四の影/ Remnant's Four Shadows
End of Remnant, Episode 11: To Fear or Not to Fear
[Cues: Super Smash Bros Ultimate ST – Great Temple/Temple]
Yuki did not need Serena to tell him that wherever they were…it was not the Voyd or Remnant. It felt a lot like Chronoa's realm. Familiar yet foreign. There was a bright sky and the stone platform he stood on was intricately designed and led to a trail of floating platforms leading a massive floating castle surrounded by smaller floating islands. The way he got in was gone, so he moved forward.
[Cues: Sonic Battle OST – Emerl's Theme]
He moved on other entering the massive castle to see more murals and ancient text.
Those words…Yuki felt they aided to complete the pledge that he had always felt was incomplete. With a stiff upper lip, he created the pledge for Silver Eyed Warriors of the modern era.
"In the darkest night, our silver eyes light the way for hope to arise. To fight tooth and nail with indomitable will to protect life harkening fear into our enemies. Let any avarice be tempted by our love for what dear to us and compassion for protecting life. And we will death with undying rage against those to cross us, threaten life, and those precious to us!" Yuki cried out.
It was a modern take, but the meaning was still timeless at his core as the way up opened.
[Music Ends]
Silently, he went up those castle stairs before going on a platform that lifted him up to another floor that was pitch black and dusty as he coughed a bit from the dust. A voice spoke out…
"In all the years…one finally is worthy. Noire feverishly desired to be like his brother, but he is not worthy. But you may have opened the door, but you are not entitled to a smooth ascension!"
It sounded like it was all around him and Yuki had simply swerve to the side to dodge a strike only to get punched into his back.
"Why don't we pry into your mind?" The voice said as the room lit up.
"I don't think so." Yuki/Serena said in unison.
There was a hiss. Whatever it was had attempted to probe Yuki's mind but found a bit of difficulty in doing so…because of the combined forces of Yuki and Serena. The room blurred becoming a colorless version…of the ruins of Crossroad Village.
"Your illusions will not work on me. You want to feed on my fear? I may have my fears of failing and loss, but I can't let you play with my mind. Now you can come out and face me or stand aside. Unless you're afraid of ME!" Yuki roared.
The illusion fizzled as a figure came in his view, looking like a corrupted glitchy version of himself.
"Arrogance will not save you!" The figure said lunging into Yuki only for 'Yuki' to shatter into glass. "What?!"
The figure could only to turn to see Yuki impale it with Wilt. Yuki grabbed the figure by its 'hair' looking into those corrupted eyes.
"No…you're Voyden touched! That's…that's…URGH!"
"Nightmare fuel incarnate." Yuki said with a malicious grin.
His blue eye went red and crackled with an energy that had the guardian on edge. On the one hand, Yuki was proving worthy. On the other hand, the guardian was not wanting to think of what Yuki could be capable of he did succeed.
"Fine, you can pass!" The figure screamed before the stairwell revealed itself. "You may project great fear, but let's see if you can power through the rest."
The corrupted figure dissipated, and Yuki pushed ahead.
(A/N: This chapter was short on purpose, and now we'll bounce back to the other plotline. I figured to keep a decent pace, we bounce between Yuki's progress on his own and everyone else making their way to the final showdown.)
