Chapter 16-
What the hell was Callie doing here? and how did she know I went to school here? She's the last person I really wanted to see. How long is she even here for? A million thoughts were racing through my mind but were immediately broken up from the sound of my boss's annoying voice.
"You're late⦠Again," My boss huffs out.
"I have callers waiting,"
"Yeah, well, I got stuck in traffic," I spit back, "What do we have?"
"Fifteen-year-old caller she says she needs to talk," he says giving me an update.
Two weeks ago, we had started a hotline for teens. It gave them a chance to talk to us and see if we could give them advice on anything and everything. So, of course, since I'm a teenager, my boss, Robert thought I'd be the perfect candidate to run it. I just think he just hates teenagers and didn't want to have to deal with them. Which was fine with me. I put on my headphones and took the caller off hold.
"Great!" I growl. I put my headphones on and took the call, "Hello, Caller, are you there?" I ask.
"Yeah I'm here," came the young girl's voice.
"Who am I speaking with?"
"This is Molly," she says.
"How can I help you tonight, Molly."
"I just called because I have a situation and needed to talk to someone,"
"Of course, you can talk to me. What's going on?" I sat there listening to Molly talk. Trying to get an understanding on what's been going on and try to give her the best advice that I could. Everything was going very smoothly, until she mentions how her boyfriend was pushing her into having sex.
"Tell me your age again, Molly,"
"I'm Fifteen." She tells me. Fifteen?
"So, this would be your first time, correct?" I wasn't trying to get personal; I was just trying to get the information so I could give her whatever advice I could that would be helpful.
"Yes," That right there set me off. How could any fifteen-year-old be thinking about having sex right now? Especially if the guy is pushing her into it. Not to mention, she was all willing to do it because she didn't want to him to leave her.
"Okay, listen here, Holly,"
"It's Molly," she says, correcting me.
"Whatever. Look, you are way too young to be having sex. Girls your age shouldn't be even thinking about boys. You should be focusing on keeping your grades up so you can get into good college or even play sports. You shouldn't even be thinking about sex right now. It's not worth it. Giving up your fucking virginity to a guy who is over 21 is stupid. My advice would be not to do it. That moment will change you forever. Not to mention, you could end up pregnant if you're not careful," I threw my headphones on the table, stood up and walked out of the room. My boss walks out of the studio room, chest heaving and nostrils flaring. He crossed his arms and looked at me.
"What?" I snapped.
"What the hell was that?"
"What do you mean? She wanted my advice, so I fucking gave it to her,"
"You literally went off on her..."
"Because she was being fucking stupid." I yell, cutting him off.
"That's where you come in, give her the best advice. Nicely I might add."
I just scoffed.
"You know what, I don't know what's been up your ass lately, Ms. Robbins, but I'm not putting up with it anymore. and this..here..going yelling at callers, will not happen again, do you understand me?"
"Whatever," I snark, giving him a dirty look.
"You know, I have had it with your petty little attitude. You're done here. Goodbye." He tells me then storms back into the media room.
These last five weeks of class flew by in a blur, which means that it's finals day and I couldn't be stressed. Especially since my counselor said that I'd have to retake the courses this summer if I failed. Which was fine by me. I wouldn't have to worry about running into Callie over the summer. Especially now since I'm having her baby.
"Ms. Robbins, are you ready?" asks my professor as I was taking my seat. Ha! Not really. Just thinking about the possibility of failing the class makes me even more nauseous. I can't tell if the nausea is the morning sickness or just the stress from knowing that there is a huge chance that I could fail this test, then fail the class.
"Yes sir," I reply. I wasn't ready, even though I studied my ass off.
"Alright, I guess we will see won't we?" He snarked. "Alright, everyone, please take a test, then pass them to the back. Once everyone has a test, you may begin."
"Good luck, Robbins," Alex says from beside me, "You got this," I sure the hell hope so. Just thinking about the possibility of failing the class makes me even more nauseous.
"Mr. Karev, no talking," our professor barks out. God this guy is an asshole. When I got my test, I began very quickly. But my concentration wasn't any good because of the fact my stomach wouldn't stop turning so instead, I raise my hand.
"Yes, Ms. Robbins?"
"I need to use the bathroom?"
"Are you asking or are you telling me?"
"Actually, I was asking. May I use the restroom."
"We are moments from taking the test, so can it wait?"
"Honestly sir, it can't." I answered honestly. " I think I'm going to be sick, sir."
" Yeah, well Ms. Robbins, I'm going to be sick too. Sick of the fact that you are using every excuse in the book to get out of this class." he shoots back. "I tell you what, you leave this room, you automatically fail. Simple as that." My jaw about fell to the floor. You have got to be fucking kidding me.
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"Watch your language, Ms. Robbins. and no. I'm not kidding you. Does my face look like it's kidding to you?" Who the hell did this fucker think he was? My anger started to get the best of me. I'm literally two seconds from going off on this old bastard. I'm one second away from puking all over my desk and he won't let me use the bathroom.
"You know what sir, fuck you." I say standing up "You can just fail me then, I don't fucking care anymore." I picked up my test and ripped it up. I was angry. I had to leave the room before I said anything more. So, I reached down to grab my bag from under my seat and stormed out.
My chest was still heaving with anger as I opened the door to my dorm room. I threw my bag on the floor in the corner and dialed Teddy's number.
"Hey, what's up girly girl? Wait, aren't you supposed to be taking your final right now?"
"I walked out!"
"What?" she shouts into the phone, "why would you do that?"
"I asked him if I could use the restroom. And I tried telling him that I was about to be sick, but he still refused to let me go,"
"So, you decided to be immature and walk out?"
"Not before I ripped up my test," I tell her.
"What the hell? You ripped up your test? Seriously?"
"God, for the last time, I was about to be sick. And he decided to be a jackass and say that I was only making excuses just to get out of class,"
"Were you?"
"Of course not. Why would you even ask me that,"
"Since you failed this semester, you know what that means right?"
"That I don't have to deal with the old bastard anymore?" I say, being a smartass.
"No, it means that you will have to retake the courses this summer, so therefore you won't be able to come home for the summer,"
"You know what, Teddy, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that my personal shit that I have going on is an inconvenience to you,"
"I didn't say that. Damnit, Zo. You're not an inconvenience. It's just that Tim and I were looking forward to having you home for the summer. We had a lot of things planned. But now, since you failed your courses, those plans are long gone. What happened to you? Arizona Robbins never fails. She soars,"
"Yeah, well, I've changed," I say to her.
"Yeah, I know. And I wish I knew why,"
"Look, can you keep a se.." just as I was about to ask, I heard a knock at my door, "someone is at my door, hold on," I walked to the door and when I opened it, Alex and Jo were standing out in the hall.
"Ah! Good ol' Z Robbins," he says, "so, how does it feel to be badass and the talk of class?"
"Enough, Alex," I heard Jo say to him.
"Teddy, let me call you back, okay,"
"Okay, talk to you later," After we hung up, I looked at Alex who had a wide grin on his face.
"Now, what are you talking about? And why aren't you taking your final?"
"I finished already,"
"More like rushed through it," Jo huffs.
"Wait, it took you a half hour to finish the exam that was supposed to have take an hour?"
"As I said, he rushed through it," Jo says again.
"Yeah," he says with a shrug, "the entire class was talking about you after you left. Professor Green had to threaten the class with a failing grade just to get us all to shut up,"
"Wow isn't that just great," I say, a little embarrassed.
"Oh, come on, Z, it's not that bad. No one else had the balls to stand up to the old bastard like you did,"
"Yeah, and now because of it, I failed the exam, which means I have to retake both courses this summer, that's if Dean Frost doesn't kick me out,"
"Dean Frost is going to kick you out?" Jo asks.
"No, no one is kicking her out," Alex says to her, "she's not going to kick you out,"
"You don't know that. She just might. Especially if my attitude doesn't change,"
"God, Z, she's not going to kick you out," he groans, "A lot of students have said way worse than what you did. Hell, I'm sure some of them probably even punched their professors," Jo turns and looks at Alex.
"And you wouldn't be one of them students, would you?"
"No! I'd never do that,"
"Uh huh, coming from the guy who would say 'Oh, I'd never cheat my way through college,' Jo says in a mocking tone.
"I haven't cheated..."
"That's enough, you two. I have to meet with Dean Frost in the morning. I'll let you know what she says once the meeting is over," I tell them, "
"Want us to go with you?"
"No, I'll be fine. This is on me. I need to do this alone,"
"Well, you're not alone, Z. Jo and I have your back, and we always will,"
"Thanks, you guys," I say softly. This was the first civil conversation I've had with him since I come back from break. Our first one where I hadn't bitten his head off trying to get me to talk to him. I'm still not telling him the reasons behind my behavior. I haven't even told him about the baby yet. But it's my business. Actually, It's now mine and Callie's business.
*Okay not sure how I feel about this chapter. Been trying to stick to the story line. Let me know what you think. *
