Chapter 40

Callie's P.O.V:

It was a week after Christmas when we were finally celebrating New Year's. With them having a bigger house, Tim and Teddy decided to host a New Year's Eve party as well. I tried convincing Arizona into staying home this year, but she thought that it would be a great idea to drag me out and unwind a little bit since things were really picking up at the studio. So, by the time we had arrived, the party was in full swing. Everyone was drinking, dancing and have a great time. Some were even gathered by the t.v doing Karaoke. Teddy was the first one to notice our arrival.

"My favorite couple has arrived," Teddy hooted. She ran over to us and gave us each a hug before taking Noah from my arms.

"Happy New Year," Arizona says to her.

"It's not New Year's yet," Teddy says, placing a kiss on her nephew's forehead, "Come on in, join the party. Beer is in the fridge and the hard stuff is on the counter. Tim and Mark are in the kitchen pouring drinks for everyone, so help yourself," I look to Arizona, who had a smile on her face.

"Ready to party?" she asks me.

"Let's go," I say, returning the smile. I grab her hand and pull her with me into the living room with the rest of our group.

As the night went on, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Arizona and I shared a few dances as everyone sang. When the last song came to an end, I give my girlfriend a soft kiss on her forehead and smiled.

"This was definitely a great idea," I say to her.

"Yeah, it was," Arizona agreed, connecting her lips with mine.

"Whoa! Hey, none of that," a voice behind us says. We turn and there was Addison standing behind us with a smile.

"Addison, hey, you made it," I greet my best friend.

"Of course, I did. I had to see you before heading back to school," she says, pulling me into a hug, "So, how's my favorite lesbian couple? Staying out of trouble,"

"Why wouldn't we?" Arizona asks her.

"Oh, come on, you really don't remember what happened a year ago?"

"Oh, right, yeah," Arizona finally says when the thought clicked in her mind, "Trust me, that's not happening again. I mean, I'd love to have another baby, but not right now. But I'm going to go find Teddy," Arizona tells us, then walks off, leaving just Addison and I standing there by ourselves.

"So?"

"I haven't asked her yet. But it's coming, trust me," I say, smiling at my best friend,"

As the time was ticking down, it finally getting closer and closer to midnight. I looked across the room and saw Teddy and Arizona standing in the kitchen, talking. I couldn't exactly make out what was being said, but then I saw Arizona smile and walked down the hall. This is it. Watching Arizona disappear, I walked over to Teddy and smile.

"She just went to go get Noah," Giving her a nod, I turn to our group of friends and smile.

"Hey, everyone, listen up, before Arizona comes back in, I have something very special planned, so I'll need you all to stand in a circle for me. I'm going to dim the lights, then go take my spot," I look back to Teddy who was smiling widely.

"Here we go," I tell her, letting out a sigh. I disappear out of the living room before Arizona returned.

Arizona's P.O.V:

Walking to the room, I could hear little coos coming from Noah's crib. Somebody must be awake. As I got close to the crib, I could see Noah on his back, wide awake.

"Hi Buddy, you up already," I ask him in my baby voice. I lift him out of his bed and head back out to the living room. When I entered the room, the light's have been turned off and everyone was standing in a circle. Flashes of lights were coming from a disco ball that was spinning around the room. As I looked around at everyone, I noticed Callie was nowhere around.

"Hey, where's Callie?" I ask, looking to Meredith. But she didn't answer me. She kept looking at me with a smile on her face. Teddy comes up behind me and pushes me into the middle of the circle everyone had formed the stands back in the circle next to Tim. Before I realized what was happening, music began to play from the karaoke machine. Words started to flash across the screen and after a minute, words began to flash across the screen, then a voice came through the speaker.

""The bar was empty I was sweeping up the floor That's when she walked in I said, I'm sorry but we're closed And she said "I know, But I'm afraid I left my purse I said, I put one back behind the bar I bet it's probably yours And the next thing that I knew There we were, lost in conversation And before I handed her purse I said, You'll only get this back on one condition" After singing the first verse, Teddy steps aside, and Callie comes into view. I noticed she isn't wearing the same shirt she had on earlier when she first came over. Walking up to me, she pulls me in, and we start to sway. "And we danced Out there on that empty hardwood floor The chairs up and the lights turned way down low the music played, we held each other close And we danced" She sings, continuing to sway us. what is going on.

Smiling at her, I mouth, "What are you doing?" She just looks at me and continues to sing. "And from that moment There was never any doubt I had found the one That I had always dreamed about and then one evening, When she stopped by after work I pulled a diamond ring out of the pocket of my shirt" After singing the verse, Callie reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small black box. Just like the artist did in the song. As she slowly opened it, tears start to sting my eyes, and my one free hand covers my mouth. "And as her eyes filled up with tears She said" At that time, Callie gets down on one knee just as Teddy takes Noah from me, and hands me a mic. Putting it to my mouth, I began to sing along, "this is the last thing I expected and then she took me by the hand and said, I'll only marry you on one condition." I reach down with the hand that didn't have the mic, and grabbed my girlfriend up to stand with me...as I continued to sing our bodies started to sway once more "And we danced Out there on that empty hardwood floor The chairs up and the lights turned way down low The music played, we held each other close And we danced. Like no one else had ever danced before I can't explain what happened on that floor but the music played We held each other close And we danced Yeah, we danced." Tears were starting to fall when the song came to an end. Callie had a full-blown smile on her face.

"Arizona Robbins, a year ago today, was the day we met for the first time. Getting up there to sing with you was the scariest thing I had ever done. But as I stood next to you, hearing you whisper amazing words of encouragement, those fears went away. As I stood there singing with you, I couldn't help but fall in love with you that very moment. Hearing your voice as we sang, it took my breath away." Wiping a tear from my eye, she continued her speech. "I have never felt love for anyone, Not like I have for you. We may have had a rocky start, but to me, that doesn't even matter. What matters now, is that we are here, happily in love, and raising our son. I can't imagine my life without you babe and to be honest, I don't want to. Not ever," Getting down on one knee, she held up the open box. "I know that we only been together for a little over a half of year, but I don't care. So…Arizona Marie will you do me the honor, and marry me?" Now sobbing, I pull her up and wrap my arms around her neck. We stayed like that for a moment. Pulling out of our embrace, I looked into her beautiful brown eyes and said, "Yes! Yes, Calliope, I will marry you." Pulling me into a passionate kiss, all we heard was cheers and applause from all over the room. After breaking from our lip lock, with a shaky hand, she pulled the ring from the box and placed it on my finger...

"Guys, Guys, a few second before midnight, "someone shouts. Callie slide her arm around my waist as I slid mine around hers. The whole room joined in as we counted down the last few seconds.

"10"

"9"

"8"

When I looked to Callie, I could see the love shining in her eyes.

"1. Happy New Year," Everyone shouted together.

"Happy New Year Babe." She says to me, placing a kiss on my cheek. Yes, it is.

*So..Callie asked Arizona to be her wife. Let me hear your thoughts *
