Chapter 8: Dyeing For You

Hey there everyone, welcome back to Friendship! I know it has been quite a while since I last updated, but I had a bit of trouble with this chapter. Hit a creative roadblock and found it kind of difficult to write it, but I finally managed it so I'm happy about that at least. I'd also like to give a thank you to Nanomemes for their continued support; it means a lot to me. Anyway, on with the Chapter!

I do not own Terraria, that belongs to Re-Logic and Microsoft.

"Damn this rain." Kanmi the Dye Trader muttered to himself, as he ran around his house. "How can I be expected to produce the best dyes ever seen, when dealing with these dreadful conditions?"

The flurry of curses continued to fly from the mouth of the Dye Trader, as he inspected his dye vats one after the other. Kanmi hated the rain, absolutely hated it. Only thing the rain ever did for him was ruin his dyes, and a leaky roof only made his anger grow. He would need to see the Guide sometime soon and ask for help fixing his roof; this was something way outside his field of expertise, after all. More curses flew from Kanmi's mouth, as he rushed around to move his dye vats, trying to avoid the dripping water.

"It has been raining all damn week, with no sign of stopping." Kanmi continued muttering and cursing. "Must have been that Dryad, wishing for more rain for her damn plants. May her sunflowers never blossom and her garden patches produce only weeds!"

His train of thought was soon interrupted, as he heard his front door slowly creaking open. The Dye Trader struggled to fight back a sigh, annoyed at being interrupted.

"Unless it is The Guide, please leave at once." The Dye Trader stated. "I have enough issues to deal with right now, thank you very much."

"Now is that anyway to treat a friend, Kanmi?" A voice jokingly asked.

The Dye Trader stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes gleaming and a wide grin breaking out on his face, as he slowly turned around. Standing in his doorway, smiling equally as wide, was Wyatt. But it wasn't Wyatt that had caught the Dye Trader's attention, no it was the plant currently nestled in Wyatt's hands. Kanmi could tell even from a glance what this plant was, and it took all of his energy to stop himself from breaking out in a dance of joy.

"Oh Wyatt, you wonderful man. You got the plant I was looking for!" Kanmi chuckled in delight. "You have truly done me a big favor!"

"Hey, anything for a friend." Wyatt responded, smiling back.

"Oh my friend, you are much too modest." Kanmi exclaimed, shaking his head. "You deserve a reward, for retrieving such a…"

The Dye Trader found his words slowly dying off, as he started taking in Wyatt properly for the first time since he stepped through his doorway. Kanmi noticed the blood that had stained Wyatt's clothing, wondering whether it was the Player's blood or the blood of enemies he had fought to get the plant. He noticed how soaking wet Wyatt was, with rain water dripping off of him and hitting Kanmi's wooden floorboards. He then noticed how the water mixed with the blood, turning into a reddish-pinkish liquid pooling around Wyatt's feet.

"My dear Wyatt, you are dripping all over my floor!" The Dye Trader announced, eyes practically bugging out of his head. "You're going to ruin my dyes!"

Wyatt looked down at his feet and noticed the mess that he was currently making, as his face flushed red with embarrassment. As he tried to form an apology, he found the plant in his hands being snatched away and replaced with a thick woolen towel. Wyatt just looked down at the towel, momentarily stunned.

"Come on, dry yourself off." Kanmi stated, holding the plant closely to him. "Need to keep this place as dry as possible. And anyway, it would do us no good if you caught yourself a cold. I'll make you something warm too; how do you feel about chilli soup?"

"You really care about me, don't ya Kanmi?" Wyatt joked, as he runs the towel over his sopping wet hair.

"Well someone has to look after you, my dear Wyatt." The Dye Trader stated simply. "And anyway, we can discuss your outfits while you dry off. I've been thinking about all kinds of dyes for your armours, each more vibrant than the last."

"And how much is this gonna cost?" Wyatt inquired, an eyebrow raised.

"No price is too high, for looking good." Kanmi responded. "And anyway, consider this payment for retrieving this gorgeous flower."

Wyatt stopped for a second, the towel currently at his feet soaking up some of the water on the floor. "No offence Kanmi...but I'd kinda prefer being paid with coins."

"They always say that." The Dye Trader muttered, as he turned and made his way towards the stove in his house. "But at least have a look at what I've been planning, before you turn me down okay? Just humor your favorite dye trader, my dear Wyatt."

And Chapter Seven of Friendship is done and dusted! I'd like to give a massive thank you to all of my wonderful readers for sticking by this story and its very eclectic upload schedule. I'll try my hardest to get the next chapter uploaded sometime soon, but I can't make any promises. Anyway, I hope to see all of you sometime soon!

Cheers,

The Desert Dancer
