A/N: Hey, everyone. How are you all? I'm sorry it took so long for me to update this story. I've just had a lot on my mind, lately. I just wanted to thank you all for reading and reviewing chapter ten. I really appreciate it. If you're still following this story, here is the next chapter.
Disclaimer: I only own Yara Lin, Reign Bishop, Charles and Lois Hotchner and Elaina Greenaway. All other characters in this chapter belong to Criminal Minds/CBS. I am just borrowing them.
That afternoon, when Lois pulled into the driveway, there was a strange silver car. It was one she had never seen around, before. Standing out in the front yard, she noticed Charles and a male police officer, along with a woman. The male police officer was an African-American with a tall, slim and slight muscular build. His eyes were brown and his hair was that of the same color. The woman, Lois noticed, looked to be Asian. She was a small petite female with long black hair and dark brown eyes. She was wearing a knee length black skirt with a white button up blouse and a pair of nice black shoes. In her arms, she held a clipboard. To Lois, she looked very professional and serious. And on her shoulder, was a satchel bag.
"Mommy, who's that," Sean asked, from the backseat of the car.
Startled, Lois jumped, a bit. She had forgotten her sons were in the car with her. "I don't know who they are, sweetie. Boys, stay in the car, for right now," she told Aaron and Sean as she exited the car.
She approached her husband, the police officer and the woman. When she got closer to Charles, his arms were folded across his chest and he had a smug look on his face, like he was annoyed. "Charles, what's going on," She asked.
"Ma'am, are you this man's wife," the woman asked, before Charles could answer Lois's question.
"Yes, I am. I'm Lois Hotchner. Can I ask you what's this all about?"
"I'm Yara Lin and this is officer Reign Bishop. I'm with child protective services," the woman introduced herself and the police officer.
"Apparently, someone called in and accused us of abusing Aaron," Charles said to his wife, sounding very annoyed. "I wish people would just mind their own damn business."
"Charles, people are just concerned, that's all," Lois tried to reason with her husband.
"I don't see why a police officer needs to be here."
"Sir, I'm just here for everyone's safety," Reign said. "You never know when something might go wrong."
"Where is your son? I need to speak with him," Yara said.
"He's still in the car, with our youngest son. Would you like me to get him for you," Lois asked.
"Yes, please. If he sees an unfamiliar face approach the car, he could get scared and refuse to exit the vehicle. But I'd like to go with you."
"That's fine."
Aaron and Sean had been waiting in the back seat of the car, when their mother approached. She had a worried expression on her face. They also noticed the woman was with her.
"What's wrong," Aaron asked.
"Aaron, this lady would like to speak with you," Lois pointed at Yara. "Now, whatever she asks you, I need you to be very honest with her, okay? Don't be afraid."
"Okay," Aaron's voice sounded a little shaky.
"Okay, boys… Let's get out of the car," Lois said.
Aaron and Sean got out of the car and looked up at Yara, curious to know who she was.
"What's your name," Sean asked.
Yara smiled at the five year old, and knelt down to his level. "My name's Yara Lin. What's your name?"
"Sean Eric Hotchner. Why are you here?"
"Nice to meet you, Sean," Yara said. "I'm here because I need to talk to your brother."
"Is he in trouble," Sean asked.
"Of course not," Yara said. "I just want to ask him a few questions. She noticed Aaron had a scared expression on his face. "It's okay, Aaron. I promise, you're not in any trouble," she reassured him.
"I… I know. I'm just scared," Aaron said.
"Can you tell me why you're scared," Yara asked.
Aaron shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know. I guess I'm just afraid I might say something, I shouldn't say."
"Aaron, you can say whatever you would like to say to me. I promise, I won't get mad at you. I just need you to be honest, okay," Yara once again tried to reassure the child.
"Okay," Aaron agreed.
"Do you like to color," Yara suddenly asked.
"Yes," Aaron happily said.
"So do I," Yara said. "Whenever I need to talk to a child, I always bring some crayons and coloring pages with me," she patted the satchel bag. "Would you like to color a picture, while we talk?"
"Sure," said Aaron. "We have a picnic table, in the back yard. If you want, we can go there to color and talk."
"That sounds like a great idea, Aaron," Yara said. As she and Aaron were about to leave for the back yard, she felt a small tug on her skirt and heard Sean say, "Excuse me."
"Yes, sweetheart, is there something you need," she kindly asked him.
"I was just wondering if I could have a picture to color, too," Sean asked.
"Of course," Yara reached into her satchel bag and pulled out a piece of paper. "How about this one," she held the paper out in front of the little boy's face.
Sean laughed when he saw it, "That's funny!"
The picture was that of a large bear and a small bear. Both bears were wearing overalls, a straw hat, and they were standing on a riverbank, holding fishing poles.
"What's so funny," Yara asked, with a smile.
"Those bears are trying to catch fish, just like people do," Sean couldn't contain his laughter. And neither could Yara and Aaron, as they too both laughed.
"You're right Sean! That is funny," Aaron agreed.
"I don't think I've ever seen a bear catch fish with a fishing pole," Yara said.
After the laughter had died down, Yara offered some crayons to Sean. He politely declined, announcing he had a whole bunch of crayons in his room. Thanking her for the picture, he then happily skipped into the house, with the picture in his hand, ready to color it. Lois, Charles and the police officer followed behind him. Charles glanced back at Aaron, with a threatening look on his face.
A few moments later, Yara and Aaron were sitting at the picnic table, in the back yard. Each of them had a picture to color. Aaron was coloring a picture of a lion, and Yara was coloring a picture of a bouquet of flowers.
"Aaron, that lion is looking really beautiful," Yara complimented on Aaron's coloring skills. "You're doing a really great job."
"Thank you," Aaron smiled. "Those flowers look very colorful. I like them."
"You're welcome and thank you, too," said Yara. "So, how do you like school?"
Aaron shrugged his shoulders. "Eh… It's okay, but it's not as fun as it used to be. At least, this year, it isn't."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Is there something specifically that you don't like about it?"
"The teacher, Mr. Benson isn't very nice," Aaron said. "He doesn't believe anyone should ever make mistakes. And he yells a lot."
"He seems kind of scary," Yara said. "And I hope he realizes that no one is perfect. Mistakes are meant to be made, right?"
"Right," Aaron agreed.
"Is it okay, if I ask you some questions about your parents?"
"Sure."
"Do your parents treat you well," Yara asked.
"Mommy's very nice to me and Sean," Aaron said.
"And what about your father? Does he treat you well?"
Aaron wanted to tell the truth. He wanted to tell Yara how cruel his father is, but he had a feeling his father was watching them. And even though Charles wouldn't be able to hear them, Aaron was taking no chances. "My dad," he thought for a moment before answering. "yeah, he's really nice to us, too."
"Are you afraid of either of your parents?"
"Not really, but sometimes my…" Aaron began to say, but then he stopped himself.
Yara noticed that Aaron was afraid to say something. "It's okay, Aaron. You can tell me. I promise, you won't be any trouble. I'm here to help, remember?"
"I know," Aaron said. " I was just going to say that sometimes my dad yells at me, when I don't do something that I'm supposed to do. Or when I do something I shouldn't be doing. He's kind of scary, sometimes."
"Has either of your parents ever hit you?"
"No, never," Aaron lied, once again. "I'm very clumsy and I'm always tripping and falling over things. So, I can see why people think my parents are hurting me, which they're not."
"Yara had a feeling Aaron wasn't telling her the entire truth, but she knew she couldn't force it out of him. "Are you sure everything's okay," she asked.
"Yep, there's no problem here," said Aaron as he faked a smile. "I'm kind of tired now. If you have any more questions, can we talk some other time, please?"
Yara smiled back and said, "Of course we can talk some other time. It was very nice meeting you, Aaron."
"Nice meeting you, too, Miss Lin," Aaron politely said.
"Please, call me Yara," Yara corrected Aaron. "We're friends."
"Okay," Aaron happily said.
A few moments later, Yara was speaking with Charles and Lois. Officer Reign Bishop stood close by, making sure no trouble was started.
"So what'd he tell you," Charles asked of his son. He still seemed annoyed at the fact that someone had called child services. "I bet he told you a bunch of lies. I bet he told you that I beat and starve him sometimes."
"Charles, please," Lois begged him, as she placed a hand on his arm. "Whoever it was that called, was just concerned for Aaron."
Charles jerked away from Lois, "Don't "Charles, please," me," he snapped.
"Is there a problem," Reign asked.
"No, officer. There's no problem at all," Lois reassured him. "My husband is just a little upset, that's all."
"Yeah there is a problem," Charles smugly said. "The problem is that people think they have a right to know what goes on, in my own home or how I treat my own son."
"Sir," Yara interrupted. "People were just concerned about your son. They thought he was in danger."
"Well, Aaron isn't in danger. He's completely fine," Charles said. "So people can just stay out of our lives. Aaron will say and do anything just for attention."
"Sir, I can't share with you, what Aaron said to me," said Yara. "but I can assure you, it was nothing bad about you."
"Good, he better not have," Charles gruffly said.
"And just so you know, I'll be doing weekly visits here. So you can expect me to be back, the same time, next week," Yara said. "You and your family have a nice day," she turned and walked away. Reign followed behind her.
"We'll just see about that," Charles mumbled. He and Lois stood there on the porch and watched both Yara and Reign drive away in each of their vehicles. When the cars were out of sight, Charles turned to Lois and said, "Get in the house and get that worthless son of ours. I wanna know just what he told that bitch."
"Charles, please," Lois begged. "She said Aaron didn't say anything bad about you."
Charles smacked her across the face, with the back of his hand. Blood began trickling out her nose. "See what you made me do," he snapped.
Lois wiped the blood from her face, with her hand. "I'm sorry," she apologized with tears in her eyes.
"Don't make me do it again," he threatened. "Get in the damn house like I told you and get Aaron! I'm not joking," he grabbed her by the arm and forcefully pulled her into the house.
Aaron and Sean were standing in front of the couch, when their parents walked in. Aaron had a protective arm around his little brother. They both saw the blood on Lois' face.
"What happened, mommy," Sean asked.
"Mind you own damn business and get upstairs to your room," Charles snapped. "or I'm gonna beat you."
"I'm fine, sweetheart. I just tripped and fell, on the way in here," Lois reassured her son.
Charles turned his attention to Aaron. "Now you better tell me, what you said to that bitch," he demanded.
"I didn't tell her anything. I only told her that you yell at me, sometimes," Aaron said. "I never told her that you hit me."
"LIAR," Charles was enraged.
"Daddy, stop yelling. You're scaring me," Sean cried as his arms lock around Aaron's waist, for protection. He knew Aaron would keep him safe.
"Didn't I tell you to get up to your room," Charles lowered his voice to normal volume, but he was still angry. "Why are you still here?"
"I don't want to go to my room," Sean said. "I didn't do anything, wrong."
"I warned you about what would happen. Now I'm going to have to punish you," Charles reached for his youngest son, but Aaron pulled Sean away.
"If you hit him, I'm going to tell," Aaron threatened. He was scared, but he kept his eyes locked on his father. "You can hit me, all you want, and I'll never tell. But if you hit Sean or mommy, ever again, I'm telling Yara."
This angered Charles, even more. He violently grabbed Sean away from Aaron and threw him on the floor. Sean cried out, as he hurt his knee. "HOW DARE YOU THREATENED ME," Charles angrily yelled at Aaron. He raised his fist and swung it at Aaron, hitting him in the head. The hit was so hard, Aaron collapsed to the floor, unconscious. His face hit the corner of the coffee table.
"NO," Lois screamed as she rushed to her oldest son. She knelt down and pleaded for him to wake up, cradling him in her arms. There was a pool of blood from where Aaron had hit his face. "Aaron, please wake up! God, please don't take him," she pleaded as tears ran down her face and she tried to shake Aaron awake, but Aaron remained motionless.
Seeing his wife trying to help Aaron, angered Charles, even more. He grabbed Lois by the wrist and violently pulled her away. "You get away from him! He got exactly what he deserved!"
"Charles, please let me call an ambulance for him," Lois pleaded. "I promise I'll tell them it was an accident! Just please let me get help for our son!"
"I SAID GET AWAY FROM HIM," Charles pulled Lois away from Aaron and began violently beating her.
"PLEASE STOP," Lois pleaded for her life.
Amidst the chaos, Sean found the opportunity to run out the front door for help. With an injured knee, he ran as fast as he could. Luckily for him, the Greenaway family were sitting on their front porch, across the street. Sean quickly glanced both ways, before crossing the street. When he saw that there were no vehicles approaching, he quickly made his way across and onto the Greenaway property. Robert, Elaina and Elle could tell something was wrong.
"What happened, sweetheart," Elaina asked, as Sean got closer to their house.
"Daddy killed Aaron, and now he's killing mommy," Sean was now in tears.
"Aaron's dead," Elle asked in complete shock.
Upon hearing what Sean had just said, Robert instructed Elaina to take the kids into the house and call the 9-1-1. He then leapt from the porch and ran across the street, towards the Hotchner house. He silently prayed that Sean was wrong about Aaron.
End of chapter eleven. Is Aaron dead? Find out in the next chapter. I'll try to have it posted as soon as possible. In the meantime, please let me know what you thought of this chapter. Just please don't be too cruel, if you hated it.
