Chapter 57

Callie's P.O.V:

It was finally July. These past couple of months have been crazy. I reunited with my Mom after thirteen years. I've still been a little uneasy with the whole thing, but with a little push from Arizona, I decided to give her a chance. Everything has been going well at the label. The business has picked up a lot, so I found myself working longer hours. The renovations are going great and right on schedule, just like I hoped.

When I walk through the door of my home at a quarter to seven, the living room was quiet. Arizona and Noah were nowhere in sight.

"Hello?" I call out to my wife. I saw her car out front, so I knew she was home.

"Callie..." Arizona shrieked from down the hall.

"Yeah, hi I'm home...everything okay?"

"Callie!" I hear her shriek again. Hearing my wife scream out my name the way she did caused my mind to panic. Thinking something bad has happened, I quickly hang my keys on the hook next to the door and bolt down the hall toward my wife's voice.

"Arizona? Where are you?" I ask, a little freaked out.

"Noah's room, come here, hurry," I raced to Noah's room, and just when I open the door, I see Noah fall on his butt.

"What? What's wrong?" I ask. Arizona looks at me with a wide smile on her face.

"He walked! He walked, Callie. Our son walked," she chuckles, "Come here, Watch," I move into the room and kneel down in the same position my wife was in on the opposite side of the room. She grabs Noah and gets him situated in a standing position. "Alright, ready Mama?" I smile and give her a nod. She lets go of Noah and I watch with a big smile as my son takes a few steps toward me.

"Come on, No," I say, giving him a little motivation, "Come to Mama," Noah takes a couple more steps toward me, but when I reach out to grab his little hand, he falls down on his butt again. I laugh as I scoop up my son and give him several kisses on his cheek, "you did it, buddy. I'm so proud of you," I hold my son close and kiss the top of his head.

"That was amazing," Arizona shrieks, crawling over to us. Our son walked for the first time and I feel like my heart was about to burst. I knew it was bound to happen the way he had been pulling himself up, but I didn't expect it to now.

"Yeah, I gotta say, that was a pretty amazing thing to see," came a voice from the doorway. Arizona and I look toward the door and see Tim and Teddy standing there with big smiles on their faces.

"Tim!" Arizona yelps. She jumps up and dashes toward the doorway and nearly jumps into her brother's arms.

"Hey, little sis," he laughs, "it's great to see ya," he places her back down on the floor and then takes a step back, "look at you, you look great. Hey Cal,"

"Hey, what you guys doing here?" I asked, a little surprised myself.

"Oh, home on leave. Just finished boot camp,"

"Aren't you suppose to have a graduation or something?" Arizona asks him.

"Oh, that was last week," he chuckles. He walks into the room and reaches down for me to pass Noah to him, "hey big man, awesome job walking. Uncle is proud of you,"

"Wait, last week?" Arizona asks again, more confused, "why didn't we get an invite?"

"Didn't want to make a big deal out of it, Zo," he says, bouncing Noah in his arms. Arizona looks at me, but I give her a knowing look to drop the whole thing.

"So, how long are you home for?" I ask my brother-in-law.

"A few weeks. We get to have a few weeks with our family before we get shipped out," he says to me.

"Wait..what?" Arizona asks, a little dumbfounded, "you're getting shipped out? You just finished BootCamp. Why so early? and what about Teddy?"

"Zo, we all knew this was coming. Don't act so surprised," Tim says, "besides, Teddy will be fine. Her Mom will be flying in a couple of weeks before the baby's due date and will help out. It's all going to work out,"

"Yeah, but..."

"Babe..." I cut in. Arizona looks at me and I just shake my head. Her face forms into the cute little pout that gets me every time.

"So, who's hungry? Teddy hasn't eaten yet and she's about to kill me if I don't feed her soon," Tim laughs as he leaves the room.

"What just happened?" Arizona asks. I wrap my arm around her and pull her in for a hug.

"It's going to be okay," I assure her.

"So Tim, tell me why you're being shipped off so soon?" Arizona asks.

"I think I'm going to do the fish and chips," Tim says, trying to change the subject.

"Are you going to answer me?" she questions her brother again.

"Let it go, Zo. There's nothing I can do about it," Tim says, never taking his eyes away from the menu.

"But, you do realize how dangerous it is right? I mean, you can't just leave yet. You have a baby coming and Teddy to think about,"

"Arizona, please stop," Tim says, getting a little agitated by his sister's constant nagging.

"I'm just saying. Can't they wait until after the baby comes?"

Tim lets out a groan and lays his menu down, "Look, I didn't ask for the assignment, okay. And for your information, I did mention it to them but apparently, they declined it and were still needing us as soon as possible. After I was told what I was doing, I couldn't question it. That's it. No questions asked, so please, get off my back,"

"Okay, fine," my wife says, slumping back in her chair. She stuffs a piece of bread into her mouth and gave her brother a death glare.

"So, Teddy," I say, clearing my throat, "have you guys found out the sex of the baby yet?"

"Not yet. We decided to wait and be surprised,"

"Why? Surprises are no fun," Arizona pops up, still giving Tim her Robbins death glare.

"Everyone ready to order? Or do you still need more time?" the brunette waitress asks, walking up to our table.

After giving the waitress our orders, she smiles and nods, "I'll have that out for you shortly,"

We continued to sit around talking, catching up. I told Tim and Teddy about the renovations we have going on at the label and even told them about my mother showing up out of the blue. Twenty minutes later, our food finally arrived, and once again we fell into a comfortable conversation.

"So, Callie, what are you doing for Arizona's birthday next month?"
"What?" I ask, a little surprised. Arizona never mentioned that her birthday was in August. This is surprising because mine is also next month, but that was something we never discussed or even really talked about in the time we have known each other or been together.

"Yeah, her birthday is the 11th," Tim chuckled, "don't tell me that in the time you guys have been together, you never knew each other's birthdays?"

Arizona and I looked at each other with guilty looks on our faces.

"The conversation never came up," my wife shrugs, "besides, birthdays are just days, like any other days. I don't like them. Don't celebrate them. No big deal. Come on, Tim, you should know this already,"

"Quit downplaying, Zona. You should celebrate your birthday. You know Mom and Dad wouldn't want you to skip your birthday since they are gone," Tim says.

"I'm not downplaying anything, Tim," Arizona says hastily, "I'm not a kid anymore. I'm almost 20. I don't do birthdays anymore. I need to use the restroom," Arizona gets up and heads in the direction of the restrooms.

"She's playing me right?" I ask my brother-in-law, " she just saying that so I would take her out for her birthday?"

"Yes! No!" came both Teddy's and Tim's reply.

"You should throw her a surprise party," Tim says, "she will love you foreve-"

"No!" Teddy yelps, cutting Tim off, "don't throw her a surprise party. Bad idea. Surprise parties are hostile. They never come to any good,"

"Come on, Babe, she loves surprise parties. I mean did you see her face when we threw her a surprise baby shower?"

"Okay, look, I'll figure something out. If anything, I'll just take her to dinner or something,"

"Can't forget the birthday sex," Teddy chimes with a grin, "of course, you didn't get it this year, but remember last year? Of course, you remember, you were there, and it was phenomenal,"

"Okay, babe, I think Callie gets it," Tim pops in to stop his wife's rambling.

"Right, but anyway, I think dinner will be better. No surprise parties. Especially if you want to see your son grow up," Teddy chuckles, taking a sip of her water.

"MM-HMM," I mumble out.

These past few weeks have flown by and before we knew it, we were walking Tim and Teddy to their gate at the airport. But since Tim was being shipped off the first of August, Teddy decided to move back to Seattle instead of staying in Atlanta and since Addison never found a roommate at the apartment, she offered Teddy her second bedroom to use for her and the baby when he or she came along. Which was good because at least we know she will be okay with family nearby.

"Well, we should get going," Tim says, dropping his military duffel on the ground and taking Noah from Arizona, "Be good for your moms, buddy," he says, giving him a kiss on his cheek, "don't get too big while I'm gone, okay? Next time I see you, I don't want to be looking up at you," Tim chuckles, giving him one last kiss and a hug. He hands Noah back to me to give Arizona her goodbye hug. I can see out the corner of my eye that her face is already drenched with tears.

"I hate this," my wife sniffs out. Tim steps in front of her and gives her a weak smile.

"I do too," he admits, pulling her into a tight hug, "but it's only for a little while. I'll be back in the states before you realize I have been gone. I promise," Arizona buries her face into Tim's shirt and sobs. I rub my free arm down my wife's back to try and calm her down. Tim looks at me with sad eyes. I knew what he was getting at.

"I'm sorry," Arizona croaks out, wiping the tears from her eyes, "I just can't stand the thoughts of los-"

"You're not going to lose me," Tim cuts her off, "I will be back, I promise. Okay? Teddy will be back next week after I leave. Everything will be fine,"

"Okay," Arizona says quietly. Tim looks to me once more.

"Take care of Arizona and Noah for me," he says to me, "but take care of yourself as well,"

"I will, I promise," I say, leaning in for a hug. Teddy gives us all goodbye hugs and tells us she will be back in a week or two and before we know it, they disappear down the corridor and onto their plane.

"You okay?" I ask my wife. She just nods.

"I'll be fine," she says, wiping away another tear. She takes Noah from me and heads towards the exit, with me following right behind her.

*Again, sorry for the delay. Schedule has been hell. Hope you all enjoy the update. I'm not very good with Timelines so bear with me *
