Edit A/N: Okay, so, just rewatched the episode this relates to (1st Half of S2 EP 9 'Historia) and I feel like I left out alot of key details. Including the promise part. So I'm rewriting this chapter to make it a whole lot more detailed.

Awfulafus: To be honest you just confirmed my own fears. I did begin too feel like Alto was a bit of a Gary Stu. However, the story is just starting, and this is just training. But thanks for the advice!

ComparedDread12: Saw it! Thanks!

TheMist33: The telepathy thing does somewhat factor into canon. As all Eldians, both living and dead, are connected Via paths. So I thought i'd be cool if I did something with that.

Another year later

"Jesus... why do we have to do this again?" Connie shivered in the winter snowstorm as the 104th Cadet Corps prepared to head up the mountain.

"A soldier has to be prepared for anything." Reiner said, but he was shivering as well.

"Ah hell, lets just get this over with." Alto shivered.

They trudged out, and quickly got scattered. Alto soon found himself alone as they climbed the mountain and back.

A few hours passed, and Alto soon found himself lost on the mountain.

'...Shit.' Alto thought. He took stock of the situation. Thanks to his training with his Gertrude and others.

"Gertrude? You there?" Alto tried reaching out to his sister mentally.

"What's up Alto." Gertrude was quick to respond.

"Hey, uh, I'm kind of lost. Can you help me?" Alto asked

"Eh, I would but I can't recognize anything in this damn storm." Gertrude said.

"Absolutely no help." He looked up, and noticed a light, "Well, I'm not the only one stuck in this damn storm." He grinned,

"Hey!" He made his way toward the light, and saw 3 figures. As he got closer, one of them turned.

"Christopher!" Historia called out to him.

"Krista! Ymir! And holy shit is that Daz?!" Alto looked in shock at the body Krista was lugging.

"We got seperated from our squad." Krista explained

"Yeah so did I." Alto said to her.

"I think it's best we stick together. Safety in numbers." Ymir said, looking off to the side.

"Agreed." Krista said.

A few minutes of trudging, Ymir stopped. "Krista, the rest of us are only going to survive if you jettison Daz."

"W-what?! What are you saying?" Krista clutched the cot closer, as if trying to defend it.

"It's true, Daz is just dead weight. Wrap him up in the cot and we'll send a search party later on." Alto said nonchalantly

"N-no! We can survive! Just you and Ymir go on ahead and get help!" Krista said, pulling even harder on the cot.

"Please. He has one foot in the grave already. He should've known how much he could handle before trying to boost his score. Some people aren't cut out to be soldiers. At the rate we're traveling Daz is going to be dead by the time we reach the bottom. Which leaves us with two choices, A. We leave Daz and hope he makes it, or B. We die a nice cozy little group. Choose Krista."

"You forgot C. You're both wrong, I make it down in plenty of time to save Daz's life and by morning this is all a bad memory. You two can go ahead and get help. There's no trouble in it for you two, we'll make it, I swear." She replies stubbornly, flashing Ymir an obstinate smile. She trudged a few more steps before tripping.

"You know... I don't think you have any intention of saving Daz." Krista turned pale and slowly faced Ymir.

"You doesn't care at all. She's resigned to - no, wants to die. A nice tombstone with Selfess Hero engraved on it. Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? Krista, the nicest girl in the 104th, dies trying to save a fellow comrade's life." The look of morbid shock on Krista's face only confirmed what Ymir was saying. Ymir looked at Krista, "Oh man. And here I thought you were completely selfless, tireless in the aid of others." She said sarcastically, "If you're looking for a blaze of glory, make sure no one else lands on your funeral pyre. Wouldn't want anyone else taking a share of the glory right?"

"No! You're wrong!" Krista shouted "I don't...I didn't.." Krista fell off, unsure of how to reply, the girl looked like she wanted to cry. She looked down.

She turned thoughtful, then said"It's you two isn't it. The mistress's daughter and the nobleman's son with a price on his head." Ymir realized.

Alto began to pale, Krista's eyes widened.

"Oh man it's true. You two look like you're crapping bricks! There goes any doubts I had!" She suddenly turned serious. "Something I overheard in Wall Sina. What a sob story. Two wall cultists were talking about how a nobleman had an illegitimate daughter to his mistress. Unfortunately, an illegitimate daughter would cause too many problems, and they thought about killing her and ridding their hands of the whole affair, but they decided they'd look the other way provided his daughter had joined the military. The conversation then switched to this same nobleman watched as the Interior Police brutally massacred his relatives, leaving only one, a boy, alive. Apparently they threatened to leak information that could possibly spark revolts. And they had to be silenced. The boy vanished, never found. You know, I identified Krista right off the bat, but Christopher... let's say I had honestly not expected you to be the boy. Don't worry you two not like I'll turn you in now."

"So... you came in the Cadet Corps just to find us?"

"I don't really know. Maybe it's due to the fact our past's are somewhat similar. Or I just had pity. Or maybe I wanted to turn Alto in for a hefty reward and changed my mind."

"You mean you went through something similar?" Alto said at last

"More or less." Ymir shrugged

"Is...that the reason you became a soldier?" Historia asked.

"Who knows? You know what, no, it isn't."

"Did...you want to befriend us?" Historia asked hopefully.

"Hah! You wish!" Ymir scoffed, "We don't even come close to similar. All three of us got second chances at life, but only I kept my name! If I reject my name I abandon who I am! Thats how they win! I win by making the best of my life, with my own name! So, explain yourself! Are you going to commit suicide and make everyone who ruined your life happy?" She turned to Alto, "Are you just going to cower and hide for the rest of your life? Let them get away with what they did to you?!"

Krista looked down, and back at Daz "There's no way all four of us could make it out alive..." She said quietly. Ymir said nothing, but scaled a nearby ledge. Krista and Alto followed her.

"The base is a straight drop from this cliff. We drop him and hope he'll be found. It's a long shot, but the best chance we have."

"No! He'll die that way!" Historia objected, Ymir gritted her teeth,

"Shut it! I'll do it myself! So get away!" She picked up Historia, who was still kicking, and tossed her into a tree. Alto ran down after, her, right as a batch of snow came down on her head, right as he began digging a blinding flash of light appeared behind him, finally morbid curiosity got the better of him, and he turned around just in time to see a Titan leap of the cliff with Daz in tow.

'Hold the fuck up!' Alto ran to the edge, and watched Ymir take Daz down in the Jaw Titan. Alto watched in amazement.

"Alto! Where's Ymir!" Historia finally made her way back up the cliff.

"I don't know, I was right behind you and then I turned around and she was gone!" Alto lied. 'If they found out Ymir was a titan I don't know what the Military might do...'

"Anyway, we better make our way down the mountain now." Alto said. Historia looked at the cliff wistfully, and with a last look, was gone.

Back at Base

"Guys come on!" Mina called to them "It's been too long! We need to go search!"

"Mina's right. They've been out there far too long, everyone else is back already." Eren agreed.

"If Eren goes I'll go." Mikasa said

"I guess I'll go as well." Armin said

Reiner and Bertoldt go into a storage closet and pull out extra equipment, "We will go as well."

"Aw heck." Connie stands, "I guess I'll go to."

Suddenly, a loud thunderclap is heard. "Hey guys! You hear that?!" Sasha called, quickly paling. They all recognized the sound.

"Oh god..." "What if..." Sasha and the others ran outside, only to see Ymir dragging Daz.

"Ymir!" Everyone who had agreed to go ran out, as well as a few others. "Where's Krista and Christopher?!" They asked.

"Still coming down. They'll be here shortly." Ymir said. Satisfied, the others soon dispersed,

"Hey, you coming inside?" Reiner asked,

"Nah thanks, I'll wait for the others." Ymir said. Reiner shrugged, and headed inside.

Some time later

"Took you two long enough. I agreed to stay outside and be your welcoming committee so..."

"Where's Daz!?" Historia asked, Ymir nodded to a cabin where Daz was shivering by a window.

"I don't understand...it's impossible to scale the cliff without rope..." She looked at Ymir incredulously "How'd you get Daz down?"

"Sure." Ymir sighed, "If I have to trust someone, I guess it'd be you two." She said, "Lets promise," Ymir turned to them, "When the time comes, for me to reveal my secret to everyone." As the sun rose over the mountain she gripped their shoulders

"Promise that you guys are going to take back your names and live!"
