Kestra snuck down the street unnoticed by the insurgents. Sam and Galen were sneaking through the buildings to the landing bay. She stayed hidden from them as she followed. Though she'd been forbidden to participate in their activities by both Tigh and Laura, Kestra couldn't help but overhear from Galen that they were planning on bombing a heavy raider that was scheduled to land soon. If she was going to be stuck on this planet with them, she sure as hell wasn't going to let her friends risk their lives while she sat back and watched. Kestra hung back out of Sam and Galen's sight which allowed her to see a small group of the Sixes and Sharons that were making their way through the hangar. They were headed straight for the pair's hiding place. Thinking quickly, Kestra picked up a rock and chucked it behind her. Sure enough the cylons changed course and murmured softly to each other as they went to find the source of the unknown noise. Kestra kept low as they passed, and successfully avoided their sight. She then poked her head out to see Galen and Anders both looking directly at her. She rolled her eyes as they glared at her. Quickly checking to make sure the coast was clear, she got up and darted across the hangar to where they were.

"What the frak are you doing here?" Anders asked.

"Saving your asses," she spat quietly.

"Tigh told you to stay away," he whispered.

"Tigh's not here, is he?" she shot back, "you need all the help you can get, Sam."

"We had everything under control."

"It won't help you to try to make things harder for yourselves. A simple thank you would suffice." Anders fumed, but Galen put a hand on his shoulder and shook his head.

"Just stay down and be quiet," Anders said angrily. Kestra peered over his shoulder to the empty landing bay. After a few moments, she heard the sound of the heavy raider coming in.

"Here we go," Galen said. The raider came into view, and Anders and Galen sat up straighter. They watched the ship land, and the group of cylons from before approached it. When the cylons started departing from the ship, Anders turned to Galen.

"Ok, ready? Now," he said. Galen pressed the button, but nothing happened. He began frantically jamming the button as the cylons met each other happily in front of the raider.

"Oh, for fraks sake," Galen cursed.

"Come on, is that thing gonna work or what?" Sam hissed.

"Maybe it needs to be closer," Kestra suggested. They both turned and looked at her like she was crazy. She rolled her eyes and grabbed the button from Galen. Without another word, she darted out from their hiding spot to hide behind a crate that was closer to the raider. Galen and Sam reached after her, but they dared not make a sound. One of the eights looked curiously in the direction Kestra had moved, but before she could open her mouth the raider exploded. Sam and Galen whooped as the cylons were incinerated in the blast. They stood to leave, and peered through the smoke.

"Kestra," Sam called tentatively. A moment later Kestra came stumbling out of the smoke, and Sam broke into a grin. He clapped her on the back as they all ran out of the hangar. "Come on, let's go," Sam urged as they took off. They made it out to the tree line and made their way to the underground bunker they'd set up. Once they were sure they were safe, the three of them collapsed in relief. "You ok?" Sam asked Kestra across the room.

"Yeah," she said as she winced slightly, "just my ears ringing." Galen and Sam nodded their understanding.

"It'll fade," Galen assured her. She nodded.

"Hey," Sam said awkwardly, "thanks for saving our asses out there." Kestra smiled.

"I'm sure you'd have figured it out," she said smugly. Sam shook his head.

"I'm sure we would have, but then it would be my ears ringing" Kestra laughed.

"Glad to be of service then," she said. They fell silent for a moment. They were interrupted when Seelix barged in.

"The Colonel's been released," she exclaimed breathlessly. Galen and Anders both stood abruptly.

"When?" Anders asked, shocked.

"Where is he?" Galen asked eagerly.

"I just saw him in town with Ellen," Seelix replied. Galen nodded as he looked around the room thoughtfully.

"I wonder why they released him now," he mused.

"It doesn't matter. He's out now," Anders said, "we can get back on track." Galen nodded in agreement.

"I should go," Kestra interrupted from her place near the door.

"No," Sam said, "we have to get you cleaned up before you go back out there or the cylons will be suspicious." Kestra sighed.

"I just don't think I should be here when Tigh gets back," she said. Sam nodded his understanding.

"Okay, yeah. I think I have some of Starbuck's clothes you can change into," he said as he led her away. He found her an old pair of cargo pants and a shirt for her to wear.

"Have you found out where she is yet?" Kestra asked tentatively. Sam sighed and his body seemed to deflate. Kestra put a hand on his back.

"No," he said tersely.

"You'll find her, Sam," Kestra said encouragingly, "I know you will."

"I wish I did," Sam said as he quickly left the room. Kestra watched him go sadly before she changed into the clothes. As soon as she had changed, she bid the others goodbye and left the bunker. Kestra made her way through town quickly and reached the school. Laura was inside with Tory looking through surveillance pictures of the New Caprica Police. Laura's head rose when Kestra entered.

"What happened?" she asked when she noticed Kestra's hair was askew and her clothes had changed.

"Colonel Tigh was released from detention today," Kestra said evasively.

"Thank the gods," Laura said, "but that's not an answer." Kestra sighed and walked over to sit down beside Laura. "You were with them today weren't you." Kestra nodded like a child being scolded by her mother. "I thought we agreed that you wouldn't draw attention to yourself. We already know Baltar is suspicious of you. Do you know what they could do to you if you're arrested?"

"I have a pretty fair idea," Kestra said impatiently.

"Then why did you do it?" Laura asked.

"For the same reason you're doing this," Kestra argued, "because people are being hurt, and I want to do something about it." Laura shook her head.

"There are ways to help without risking capture."

"And if everyone thought that way there would be no one to stand up and fight," Kestra reasoned. That seemed to do the trick, because Laura fell silent. "I helped," she said pointedly, "and if it makes you feel any better Sam and Galen were mad that I went too." Laura smirked.

"I bet they were," she said with a slight laugh. Then she sighed. "Well, if you insist on being so helpful then why do you start matching up some of these pictures with names." Laura pushed a few pictures over her way, and Kestra smiled. They worked well into the evening until Kestra finally convinced Laura to go home and get some sleep.

"We won't find them all today, and it's best not to get caught with those pictures after curfew," she reasoned.

"You're right," Laura said, gathering up all the documents, "we'll continue this later. Goodnight, Tory." Tory waved to the two of them as she headed the opposite direction down the street. Laura and Kestra were walking past the market when they saw a familiar figure slipping through the shadows.

"Colonel Tigh?" Laura asked. The man jumped and turned to face them with a wild eye. He calmed when he recognized them. Laura gasped when she saw his face in the light and the gauze that covered his right eye.

"President Roslin," Tigh greeted gruffly.

"It's good to see you again, Colonel," Laura said, "I'd heard you were released." Tigh nodded.

"Yup," he said, "guess they got tired of holding me and getting nothing for it." Laura nodded.

"Well, I'm glad to hear it," she said, "have a good evening Colonel." Tigh nodded but said no more as he stalked off into the darkness.

"They took his eye," Kestra marveled after he'd gone out of earshot.

"That poor man," Laura said as they continued walking, "I can't imagine what he went through in there." Kestra stayed silent as they turned a corner toward their tent. She hadn't spoken to Tigh, but she could tell he had changed in detention. He was extreme before, but now he looked almost unhinged. Kestra feared what that madness would push Tigh to do.
