It was evening and a huge commotion was happening with civilians panicking and fleeing. The Reds and Blues, now armored, arrived to the scene and tried to evaluate was going on. Wash quickly hopped out of the warthog and asked a mother who was comforting her child.
"Excuse me ma'am but what happened here!?"
The woman hearing Washington had a look of relief and said "Thank goodness you came here Mr. Trooper. There was a big explosion over that dust store over there and people are getting attacked and robbed for their money!"
Before Wash could respond, his comms cracked to life. "Wash, there are guys in suits wielding swords and guns. We need to take them out quickly." Carolina said. "On my way" Washington answered back. He turned to the woman and told her to go somewhere safe. The woman quickly agreed and carried her child.
Meanwhile
A man with a white coat and a top hat with a cane in hand strolled through the destroyed dust shop. He blew a puff of smoke from his cigar as he surveyed his handiwork being done by his thugs. For him, this was going to be a good night. That is until...
"Boss!" his earpiece rang with the shout of his worker "we're being attacked."
"If it's those damned policemen, then there is nothing to worry about. Take them out quickly, it's what I paid you fools for." The man responded.
"It's not them sir it's- God damn it, we can't scratch them, their armor is-" the call was quickly cut off.
He sighed as he arranged his top hat and went to investigate the problem himself.
"Do I have to do everything myself. I really need to get myself some competent lackeys" he muttered as he walked along.
"Weapons free!" shouted Carolina. The sim troopers engaged the thugs all while helping the civilians be evacuated.
"Men, it's time for Red Team's signature warthog maneuver." Sarge ordered his group to do their iconic warthog hit and run. Simmons quickly reminded his superior "But sir, this jeep doesn't have a gun attached to it."
"Doesn't matter Simmons! The more important thing is that I am riding shotgun while also blasting these bozos with my shotgun. Now, we attaaaack! Grif, play the theme song."
The orange soldier sighed before complying. "Fine." He switched on the warthog's radio and began to play the Mexican music in which they normally have when doing this. Grif ran over the thugs while Sarge blasted them with his beloved gun. Simmons kept balancing while standing up but fired his battle rifle nonetheless.
"Yeah suck it blacks!" he taunted them while firing.
"Racist!" Tucker indignantly yelled.
"I meant their black suits, not their skin." Simmons quickly said to the aqua soldier.
"Oh."
Tucker replied as he stood with his sword in hand. He turned to see the other thugs charging at him with red katanas. He took up a defensive stance and smirked beneath his helmet.
"Alright fuckers, get ready to be poked and thrusted by my sword! Bow chicka bow wow."
Tucker went swishing and stabbing his opponents, their sword not standing a chance against his Great Key.
Back at the freelancers, they engaged the thugs while talking to each other.
"So who are these guys?" Washington asked as he fired his gun.
"They must be a criminal organization that robs people." Carolina replied. "If we take down this group's boss, then they are done."
"Then let's search for him now."
Carolina agreed and followed Wash.
As for the others, things have been going smoothly, well, as smooth as smooth can get for their standards. While they may have the upper hand right now, there were still civilians who got injured, which are currently being tended by Dr. Grey. The crazy doctor managed to keep them calm by engaging friendly small talk with them.
The other 'medic' was currently doing the opposite, as he fired his rocket launcher on his adversaries, not caring for the damage he caused to the property around them.
"Yes! Mwahahaha. Come one come all you fools. Limited front row seats for guests who want to taste an explosive warhead aimed at their face are dwindling by the numbers. So you all better not miss your chances hahaha. If you are unimpressed then sorry, we don't do refunds!"
"Covering fire!" Caboose yelled. To be honest, it was Freckles who was doing the work while he just shot out some confetti. "TARGET SUPRESSED, TARGET SUPRESSED, TARGET SUPRESSED." The AI kept repeating as each target was downed by his precise accuracy.
JD and Lopez helped in the assault. A thug managed to get close and tried to slash him with his sword but he dodged at the last second and fired his SMG into the torso. He activated VISR mode and outlined who are the hostiles and who are his allies. Lopez used his SAW and sprayed bullets into the others.
"Soy las perras terminator! (I'm the terminator bitches!)"
"Professor Ozpin"
The headmaster turned his attention to a blonde woman holding a tablet. He took a sip of his coffee before saying. "What is it Glynda?"
The woman now known as Glynda approached the headmaster and showed him on what was happening on her tablet.
"There appears to be an altercation here in this area of the city, with the notorious criminal Roman Torchwick leading the attack."
Ozpin nodded at this information.
"He is leading some men in robbing this dust store with many civilians panicking and some getting injured."
The headmaster's face became serious and said "I shall call on some huntsman teams to go to the area."
"I believe that is not needed sir." Glynda said. Ozpin raised his brow as the blonde woman continued talking. "There seems to be armored troopers defusing the situation and helping get the civilians to safety, while some were injured, one of them appears to be a medic and is treating the injured ones."
"That is good news." The headmaster then deepened his gaze towards the soldiers.
"Is something the matter Professor Ozpin?" Glynda asked the headmaster.
"Those soldiers, they were the ones who Qrow talked about, at Forever Fall."
Glynda was a bit surprised to hear this.
"Are they from Atlas professor?"
"Qrow informed me that they're probably not. Glynda, prepare a bullhead, I would like us to meet some of our 'new friends'."
Glynda nodded and did what the headmaster said.
The criminal now known as Roman Torchwick continued to walk where the fight was until he came to halt. In front of him were two armored figures, one with steel and yellow colors and the other being cyan aiming their rifles at him.
"Well well well, if it ain't two tin cans from Atlas trying to ruin my perfect evening." the criminal thief said.
"So you're this gang's leader?" Washington grilled the man.
"That is an accurate assumption if I do say so myself. How about this, you help me and I give you guys half of the lien I'm planning to steal."
"Absolutely not. Now if you pull back your guys and surrender, then that would be much appreciated." Carolina said.
The thief sighed and looked at them head on. "Figured as much." He aimed his cane and fired a round toward the freelancers.
"Lookout!" Carolina and Wash dodged in time as the bullet fired exploded into a concrete wall.
Carolina dashed towards Roman wit the orange haired thief doing the same. The cyan freelancer went for a punch but Roman parried her with his cane. He then swung it towards her but she backflipped out of the way. He attempted to pursue but noticed that he was open to Wash's line of fire. The grey freelancer fired an accurate burst in which Roman parried with his cane effectively. Carolina then attempted to attack him from behind but Roman was quick to notice and slashed his cane to the side of her helmet. Carolina recoiled as she regained her balance but Roman went for a thrust. The female freelancer then grabbed the cane and tried to twist it out of his hand but roman countered and fire a shell into Carolina's chest plate. She was sent stumbling back. The thief laughed but was punched in the jaw by Washington.
Wash quickly connected body jabs and a hook to the face which stunned Roman. Carolina then dashed and did a roundhouse kick to Roman's head and sent a powerful kick to his abdomen sending the criminal tumbling back. Roman huffed and stood up. He went for the comm on his ear and ordered his men. "Fall back everyone, this plan was a fail." He returned his attention towards the freelancers. "Since you metalheads ruined my plans I have this evening, I'll now be taking my leave. Toodles hahahah!" An Airship suddenly flew down to pick the criminal up. Washington and Carolina ran towards Roman but a fireball coming from the ship's cargo bay was sent flying towards the freelancers. The two dodged but now couldn't keep up with Roman as the ship flew away.
"Damn it." Wash cursed.
"It's alright." Carolina patted her partner's shoulder. "We managed to stop them from causing more trouble. Now let's head back to the others."
Wash nodded and followed Carolina.
"By Oum did this plan went to waste." Roman paced inside the ship as he pondered on his failed robbery. "No matter, there is still one more dust shop that I intend to rob." He then chuckled.
"Fall back everyone! Boss's orders." The remaining thugs ran and got inside black SUVs. They quickly drove off.
"Get back here you pussies!" Tucker yelled.
The rest of the group were also successful in holding off those thugs and protecting the people.
"It's alright Tucker."
The rest of the gang turned their heads towards the freelancers.
"We stopped them, that's all we need for now." Carolina reassured the aqua swordsman.
"If I may concur, you all did great tonight. Your actions helped saved the lives of these innocent people.
The group quickly turned their heads towards the new voice. They then saw a man in green overalls and a woman with blonde hair with a riding crop.
Washington asked the man on what everyone was also thinking.
"Who are you?"
The man simply smiled in return
