I want to thank you guys for the support you have given to me and this story. It means so much to me. Here's the chapter
I do not own RvB, Halo, nor RWBY
"Men, get you assess up lazy bones! Today's initiation, and I want to make sure you are all up and early for Red Team's mandatory exercise in order for us not to flunk this." Red team's leader was up and about, already spewing out orders to his reluctantly loyal group. As what Sarge has said, today is the day for each of Beacon's new students' initiation, where they will be tested, and will be given teams for their stay here in the academy.
Grif groaned as he rose up from his sleeping bag, fiddling with his messy and unkempt hair. He wiped off the rheum - In layman's term, sleep crusts- from his eyes and turned to look at his boisterous CO. "What in the frickin' frick Sarge. The sun's not up yet. What time is it?"
"I'm glad you asked dirtbag." Sarge paused as he glanced towards the rest of his team, slowly rising up. Simmons, who quickly caught Sarge staring got up to his feet and snapped to a salute. Lopez just stood still while Donut sloppily copied what Simmons did.
"The time, if you're wondering is 4:30 in the morning numbuts." Sarge answered Grif's question.
"The fuck!?" the said soldier exclaimed. A collective groan and shushing of students followed suit before they drifted back off to dreamland.
"Sir, if I may ask- YAWN-" Simmons scratched his shoulder "why are we up so early? The blues are still asleep, hell even Carolina and Wash aren't up yet." The rest of Red Team spared jealous looks at their comrades before returning their attention to their gruff leader.
"That's because we need to train and exercise Simmons. Don't forget that were soldiers. It's our duty to wake up at dawn to do PT exercises and drills so that we may not get rusty. If I were the old me, I would have ordered all of you to strangle the sleeping blues with their pillows. But that's all in the past now...temporarily."
Simmons just sighed.
"Now come on, double time ladies. Let's take a jog around campus first."
The reds carefully trudged their way through the many groups of students who are still asleep in order not to wake any of them up. However, JD managed to hear the footfalls of the Reds and woke up to see them leaving the ballroom. He spared a glance to the rest of the group who are asleep and felt that it was no harm to follow the reds for a few morning exercises. The ODST rolled up his bag, tied on his shoes and trailed red team onto Beacon's courtyard.
"Brrr, it's freezing out here" Grif shivered as he rubbed his arms. The lazy red was only wearing a tank top with sweats where as the rest of his team minus Lopez wore sweaters. The reds have now managed to gather on Beacon's campus and were waiting for their CO.
"You should have gone with us Grif." said Donut.
"Nah, I had to check the cafeteria on what food they serve."
"The chefs are probably busy preparing the food at this hour fatass so there aren't any available for the moment. And now here you are, freezing in the cold." Simmons told his friend.
Donut felt sorry for Grif. "Aw, don't worry Grif, how about I help you with that rubbing. That way, our two bodies will warm up and-"
Grif shouted "Don't finish that sentence!"
After getting his gear himself, Sarge saw that his men are ready, but noticed a figure approaching them.
"Who in Sam Hill are you?" Sarge asked the person while raising his shotgun he retrieved from the lockers.
The figure raised its arms and stepped out of the shadows to reveal JD himself.
"JD?" Simmons asked.
JD motioned his hands to peace sign for a greeting.
"You want to do exercises with us son?" Sarge asked. JD nodded to show his confirmation.
"Well hot dang, that now makes you an honorary red! Haha, there is nothing like strength in numbers. At this rate, we will now outnumber those dirty blues! Come on then son."
Washington finally stirred awake as he sat up taking a look at his surroundings. He noticed that he and Carolina who was also awake now, were up aside from most of the sleeping students.
He sees Tucker still asleep mumbling something along the lines of 'hot women' and Caboose drooling on his pillow. Dr. Grey yawned as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. The only people missing were all of red team, alongside JD. Doc also now woke up as he set up his alarm on.
"Oh no." Wash muttered.
Carolina, who heard him asked "What's wrong?"
"Look." Wash pointed to the now empty area were the reds once slept on.
"Oh no indeed."
"This is bad. I hope those guys won't get themselves into trouble, especially with Sarge who's leading them."
"Have faith in them Wash, JD might keep them in check." Carolina replied.
"Birdy, birdy, in the sky Dropped a whitewash in my eyes I'm no wimp, I won't cry, I'm just glad that cows don't fly!" Sarge sang his cadence as he jogged along the pathways of Beacon with Simmons keeping pace and Donut not too far behind. Grif had collapsed a dozen of times were JD and Lopez had to carry him all the way to keep up with the rest of the team. As they did, Grif was forced to join the jog.
"*Pants* How big is this academy and how many laps did we run? *Pants*" Grif tiredly bemoaned as he panted profusely.
"I don't know, we are still probably halfway around the campus." Simmons replied. While he was the socially awkward and nerdy member of red team, he was physically fit as he did not look weary in their exercise. He then smiled brightly as he repeated Sarge's cadence.
"Oh screw this" Grif muttered "My lungs, filled with blood, cholesterol, can't... move.. on..." Grif again, collapsed.
Sarge stopped for a while and turned to see Grif lying flatly on the pavement with heavy breaths.
"Grif, if you do not get your lazy ass up, I would frankly be happy to fill it up with 8 gauge lead. Now hurry up soldier, and finish this jog!"
"No thank you." Grif answered back as he snored.
"Grrrr." Sarge loaded his shotgun and aimed at his dozing subordinate.
"Wait, please, don't hurt him!" a voice cried.
The reds looked to see a young woman with long red hair tied to a ponytail wearing workout clothes running towards the group. She crouched in front of Grif to see if he was okay and glared right at Sarge. She stood up defensively and said. "Why aren't you people doing anything? Don't you see your friend has collapsed? He might be in danger and needs to be taken to help."
"Shit it's Carolina!" Simmons wailed as he raised his arms to defend himself.
"Ah, Lopez help me!" Donut cried as he hid behind the Spanish speaking robot.
Grif groaned as he looked towards the girl and upon seeing her immediately stood up right away and did a salute. The girl raised her eyebrows and said "Um, I'm sorry but I am not the person you speak of. My name is Pyrrha, Pyrrha Nikos."
"You aren't?" Sarge asked. "Well sorry lil missy, we just mistook you for a comrade of ours."
"It's fine." she looked over to see Grif already standing up. 'Does this person they speak of give them fear?' she thought to herself. On a good note, these guys didn't gush out to her like most of her fans. It must mean they hadn't knew of her yet and might be a good sign at a chance of making friends.
One by one, the reds introduced themselves to her. Pyrrha asked if she can join them in their warm ups and was pleased to hear that they were willing to allow her, albeit she was a bit confused on why Sarge called her 'another honorary red'.
Breakfast came and the rest of the reds and blues were now sitting in one of the many tables of the big cafeteria. Before they did, they had to wait on the long queues of upcoming students picking their meals. Once they did, they each took what they want to eat. Both Wash and Carolina chose a good balance of eggs, toast and bacon with a side of fruits, Dr. Grey and Doc picked salads with Doc adding a bit of protein with some ham included, Tucker picked on what the rest of the other students chose to eat while Caboose had a stack of pancakes drizzled in syrup.
"I wonder where the reds are?" asked Tucker as he finished chewing up his food.
"With Sarge as their leader, he probably dragged them off to do some early morning drills. JD must have joined them too." Wash replied munching on his toast.
The cafeteria was filled with chatter. Many of the students were busily chatting up with their friends and cliques on what they will be doing at initiation, some team maneuvers, weapons, and just casual stuff. Others were planning on strategies where they will be meeting up.
Doc asked his friends "So, what do you guys think we'll be doing once this starts?"
Caboose talked with his mouth full of pancakes "I beth, they wanth us tho make sum thoys, or maybeth lunth buxes." He swallowed before continuing "I'm so excited. Does it mean we'll be doing nap time after this?"
"Shut up Caboose." Tucker said to the blue sim trooper.
"Like what those students said" Carolina began "We need to get ready. According to Coco and Velvet, initiation is when they launch as from cliffs into the emerald forest, where we fight grimm, get the relic and return back to Beacon. The headmaster will be the one to form the teams." she concluded.
"Aw great, so does this mean we get yeeted off of a high place?" Tucker asked.
Wash patted Tucker's soldier "Come on buddy, we survived worse than this. What's the worst that could happen?"
"Don't jinx us pal."
Dr. Grey giggled "Don't you worry gents, do remember that I am still here and will be happy to patch you guys up. Teehee."
Both Tucker and Wash exchanged uneasy glances with themselves and to the crazy medic, well, one of the crazy medics, before continuing eating their breakfast.
"I really do hope that you fools get mutilated. I am willing to bet that there will be a bloodbath once we set foot in that forest mwahahaha. You can count on that." O'malley chuckled evilly.
The rest of the reds hurriedly grabbed their meals, with Grif taking a ton of breakfast food, and plopped into the table the others were sitting on.
"Where have you guys been?" asked Tucker.
"Oh well, just goin for some exercise you dirty blue. Also, we now have the numerical advantage against you. We now recruited two new members for the glorious Red team." Sarge proudly boasted.
"And those guys being?"
"JD." Sarge pointed tot he ODST who lifted a portion of his balaclava to eat.
Tucker shook his head and asked the trooper. "Dude, did they drag your ass into this?"
JD shrugged in return.
"Come on dude, give me a straight answer."
JD shook his head for a no.
"So you willingly joined them?"
JD motioned his hands for a "so-so".
"And the other one?" Wash asked.
"Why, she is Pyrhha Nikos, with hair red as blood. She'll make a fine addition to the team. I also happily sparred against her this morning during exercise and I say she is quite the combatant as she kept up with my fighting style."
"More like you managing to keep up with her. I'm pretty sure your spar was just a warm-up for her Sarge. She didn't even look like she put great effort into fighting you" Grif jabbed at Sarge as he ate his hefty meal.
"Can it numbnuts."
Tucker brightened up at the mention of a girl's name. "Sweet, is she hot? Does she have the curves?"
"She looked like Carolina." Simmons answered.
Tucker shrunk back and quickly answered "Ok never mind."
"What was that Tucker?" Carolina asked.
Tucker yelped before replying "Look, I wasn't insinuating that you do not look good, okay. I just want to keep my nuts safe if I mistake her for you and start accidentally hitting on you. Like I said, I want to keep my holy region safe, thank you very much."
"A wise decision." the teal freelancer replied.
'Would all students make way towards the cliffside. Initiation will begin shortly." A voice on the intercom sounded.
"Well, looks like this is it. You guys ready." Wash asked the group. Many of them nodded while others nonchalantly shrugged and did not give a care.
"Alright then, let's grab our gear and go to the cliffs."
The reds and blues finished eating and prepared for initiation.
At the cliffs, each one of them were standing on metal squares alongside the students, with a silver eyed girl kept staring at their armor. Ozpin and glynda were carrying a tablet and scroll to monitor them during initiation.
Ozpin sipped at his mug and continued "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well."
The girl groaned.
"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."
"That long huh?" Tucker asked Wash who shrugged with his hands.
"After you've all partnered up, head to the north of the forest where you will meet opposition by the way. Do not hesitate to destroy anything that goes against you... or you will die."
"That's ominous." muttered Doc.
"At the end, you will see a temple housing relics. Each pair must grab one before heading back where you will be graded based on your skill and standing, and be placed on a team. This activity will be monitored by our staff should a problem arise. Now, any questions?"
A blonde boy raised his hands but was ignored by the headmaster.
"Good, now take your positions. Good luck."
And one by one, each of the students and the reds and blues were flung off from the cliff to kickstart the initiation.
