I want to thank you all for those who supported my works. It really means a lot to me. I also want to thank everyone who spared a few minutes of their time to read this story.
The college application interview has been a success which took some of the load off from my shoulders of the things I have to deal with since our school year is nearing its end. This chapter can be considered a 'breather chapter', a somewhat lighthearted chapter after four whole parts of this story was written for their initiation.
I do not own Red vs. Blue, Halo, nor RWBY
Here we go
After initiation, the teams that have been formed walked alongside Glynda Goodwitch, following her from the auditorium onto Beacon's dormitories. Before they went there, she gave a tour of the campus first. Beacon's dorms were co-ed, which mean that teams having both male and female members share the same room. Almost everyone who completed initiation looked tired and judging by the looks on their faces, can unanimously agree that a good night's rest is what they needed, except for those who still have some adrenaline left in them who would love nothing more for something to destroy and break or someone to spar with. Say for example, a blonde brawler, a red colonel, and a ginger haired hammer wielder. After touring the campus, everyone followed her to the dorm buildings and entered.
"Now, your scrolls are linked into the doors of your rooms, which will serve as the keys that will unlock them and will allow you to enter." Goodwitch demonstrated by using her scroll which flashed a green light to indicate that the door has successfully been opened. "All of you are to make sure that you keep your scrolls within you at all times in order for you to gain access to your rooms."
The reds and blues have been granted scrolls in courtesy of the headmaster since they do not happen to own one. Back at their universe, smartphones existed instead of these.
"Just to be clear, while your scrolls do unlock your rooms, it is only linked to your respective rooms. That way, no students could randomly enter another team's room without their permission. Should any of you dare to break into other's rooms, punishment will be handed by the schools' staff. Although I wouldn't need to say it, I am not the one to tolerate such improper, impolite, rude and disrespectful behavior. This is a reminder to everyone who wasn't listening or paying attention. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes Miss Goodwitch." Every student chorused. For their safety, no one dared to try and test the patience of the stern deputy and combat instructor of Beacon. As much as Tucker would like to initiate some jokes, his confidence deflated at Goodwitch's frown. But it wasn't all that bad. Dare he say it, she looked hot. He and every male student in the academy could agree on that. Some people can look good frowning and Glynda Goodwitch was one of the best examples and boy did she look beautiful. Tucker decided to tune out what everyone was chattering about and only paid attention to the way Goodwitch strutted with poise and elegance that also showed confidence and authority.
"Another reminder, those students who stay in co-ed dorms need to act properly and show good manners. Observe proper courtesy." She continued. "Tomorrow, we will be acquainting you all with the school rules, the subjects, their schedules, and the professors. If you haven't known yet, I am your instructor for combat classes. Well, that concludes the tour; I will now show you to your dorms. On a final note, classes will begin next Monday in order for you to get acquainted and know your teammates better."
Every student silently cheered at this news.
"Team CRDL, team ORNG," she gestured to the dorm rooms in which the teams will be staying. "Team GRNN and team JADE." After showing their rooms to them, some of the teams said goodbye to their new acquaintances while team CRDL didn't give a damn and barged straight towards theirs.
The remaining teams continued to follow her. "Teams SSDG and CCDT, these are yours, and team FLGR, that room belongs to you."
"Later guys!" Nora waved happily
"See you all tomorrow!" Ruby equally matched her enthusiasm
"Have a good night." Pyrrha politely added.
The reds and blues exchanged their goodbyes to teams RWBY and JNPR and saw them and the rest of the newly formed teams follow Goodwitch up a flight of stairs for the dorm rooms one floor above them. SSDG and CCDT'S dorms were on the left side of the hall while FLGR's was on the right. Still, their rooms were close by.
"Welp, I'm having an early night." Grif spoke up. "See you losers tomorrow, or not…" he added and went inside.
"Not so fast numbnuts, were going to have a meeting on which bed shall be ours to use. That and setting up defenses, drawing up plans and rearranging." Sarge rebutted.
"Ooh, I can help with that." Simmons quickly volunteered. He was always down for organizing things cleanly and neatly.
"How about we decorate our rooms as well!" Donut cheered.
"Alright, we'll leave it to you guys on what you want to do. Like you guys said, we do need to organize our dorm rooms." Wash replied and went inside his room followed by Carolina, Tucker and Caboose.
"Goodnight everyone!" Dr. Grey addressed them all and entered FLGR's designated dorm room along with her teammates.
SSDG Dorm
"It looks, garish." Donut said, eyeing their supposed dormitory.
"I'm not gonna pretend that I know what the word means, but I could honestly say… I'm disappointed." Sarge happened to agree with what his partner said.
Grif didn't mind it as long as it has beds. He quickly dropped off his duffel bag and messily discarded his armor. The lazy member of the reds now wore an orange shirt with plaid boxer shorts and flopped directly on the bed. True to what he said earlier, he directly fell asleep.
The room wasn't fancy per se but it did suit their needs. It contained four beds, a dressing room adjacent to a walk in wardrobe. There was a bathroom and a wash area just across from it along with a kitchenette. It also has bookshelves containing some school supplies and study desks, one for each member. There was another door where it led to a living room adorned with a few couches and a TV.
"Why would you say that sir?" Simmons questioned Sarge's apparent discontent of their quarters.
"This is a combat school dangnabbit. It's supposed to look like military barracks! Where are the cots? The footlockers?"
"I think you somehow missed the word 'school' Sarge. Just because this place teaches hormonal teenagers to fight monsters does not entirely mean it should go all military style. Unless if you want to go to Atlas that is." Simmons answered.
Sarge grumbled and marched towards the bedroom window gazing unto the distance. He could get a good view of the school grounds which an idea promptly formulated in his head. He took another few seconds to observe and analyze and finally voiced his plan.
"Men, this window right here is a good vantage point if we want to spot our enemies." He began.
Simmons walked up right to him and couldn't help but agree.
"I guess you're right Sarge. But I highly doubt that there are going to be trespassers roaming about. This is a combat school which means that their security is top notch."
"It always pays to be prepared Simmons. Now step back as I bring out our big guns!" Sarge grabbed a future cube from his armor's magnetic strap and threw it onto the ground revealing all their stuff.
"How convenient- oh no…" Simmons trailed upon seeing his belongings pile alongside with Grif's unsanitary junk of items.
"Grif! What the fuck did I tell you about trying to keep your garbage!?"
*SNORE*
Simmons groaned and carefully picked up his important things while also disinfecting them. "For the love of god, Grif… could you at least try to know the difference between what's garbage and your doodads.
"This is Grif we're talking about Simmons. His stuff is always just trash." Sarge said to his trusted underling while he was hefting a mounted machine gun and positioning it upon the window sill.
"There, that should do it." He patted it and pretended to engage hostiles. "Over there, 2 o'clock colonel! We got hostiles approaching the base. BRRRRR Bang Bang."
Simmons shook his head and sat on the bed near the air conditioner. The nerdy red opened his laptop and attempted to 'hack' some stuff a bit. He wasn't all that concerned considering he has high technological prowess. This may just be a bit of a challenge but he knows he can overcome it-
"Wait… what?" He paused. "I seriously take back about what I said about the security. A simple virus attack would be enough to breach this." He muttered. But luckily, he was one of the good guys so hacking and invading private school data wasn't in the itinerary for tonight. So, he just suggested a proposal that might satisfy his team, especially his C.O.
"Hey Sarge, I'm gonna go set up a CCTV camera outside our door so it would add security."
"Great plan Simmons. I was just about to suggest that. Now go ahead and do what you gotta do."
Simmons enthusiastically did what his leader ordered. Sarge meanwhile was busy scheming another plan.
"Huh, 'wonder where I may set up a sniper's nest." The red colonel mused as he pushed open the door to the living room. There he saw Donut trying to choose which painting may compliment the bland walls they have. The TV in the room was playing the latest news on the newest celebrity scandals Remnant has to offer.
"What in Sam Hill are you doing Donut?"
Donut momentarily paused to look a Sarge and replied.
"I'm decorating the room Sarge. Wouldn't you like to do that as well? This place needs to liven up. Now I'm going to go fetch those doilies I packed and change these unsavory curtains they have. Seriously, red curtains on a beige wall. Talk about lurid. I'm gonna go to the headmaster and seriously discuss with him about hiring an interior decorator."
"I don't care about that Paris Hilton. I'm going to set up defenses for our dorm room in case we get invaded." Sarge declared as he placed a sniper rifle on the living room's window sill.
At FLGR's Dorm
"Alright team. What do you suggest for our first plan of action for this evening?" Doc stood and faced his team members who were sitting cross legged on the floor. He spoke with a humble and enthusiastic voice.
Dr. Grey raised and waved her hand while Lopez and JD remained silent. Doc felt a bit awkward but continued to showcase his positivity with a smile. He was finally in the limelight for once. When he was with the group, it would always be his friends who lead the antics while he was just in the background, usually ignored.
"Okay Dr. Grey. What do you suggest we do?" Doc asked her as he now sat cross legged on the floor next to Lopez and JD while Dr. Grey now stood up front, grinning widely with her arms behind her back.
"Gentlemen, I propose that we organize all our stuff here first. Our bedroom here seems to be a bit cramped while our living room is spacious. Maybe we should put our supplies there and set up a clinic in case our friends get hurt."
Doc raised his hand for a question. Dr. Grey took notice and nodded for Doc to speak up.
"But, don't we have an infirmary already?"
"Yes, I know that Doc. But we are medical professionals after all. It's so much fun that we treat our test subje- I mean patients our own way." She corrected quickly.
"Hmm," Doc thought for a moment. "Do you guys oppose this notion?"
Lopez buzzed No while JD shook his head.
"Okay, an excellent idea Dr. Grey!"
"Why thank you Doctor Dufrense, Mr. Roboto, and Mr. Silent guy." She elegantly curtsied the three of them.
Doc clapped followed by Lopez and the Rookie.
"This is a great bonding experience. Wouldn't you agree fellas?" Doc asked.
"This team's gonna be a bust. I just know it."
"Shut it O'malley"
"You're going to be a terrible leader you moron. I can predict that this team is gonna be in the bottom rankings." O'malley snarked.
Doc shook his head to free him from his sadistic alter ego and casted a sad look. JD and Lopez stared at each other and shrugged and returned their attention to Doc. Meanwhile, Dr. Grey placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and gave him a warm smile.
"Don't worry Doc. You're going to be a great leader. I know Ozpin made the right choice."
"You really mean that?" Doc asked with a look of hope regaining on his face.
"You can count on that." She gave him a thumbs up. Lopez nodded and so did the Rookie.
"Thanks guys. I'm going to do my best as your leader. I know that you'll be great teammates as well!"
"That's the spirit!" Dr. Grey cheered and clapped. JD meanwhile offered Doc a candy bar to brighten him up but he politely refused.
"It's okay JD" Doc said "I hear eating plenty of that stuff is unhealthy for you."
JD shrugged and emptied his rucksack that contained a large amount of other candy bars and some chocolates, much to the surprise of his teammates.
"Oh my…" Dr. Grey muttered as she took sight of the amount of snacks JD packed.
"Okay everyone; let's go with the game plan." Doc announced as he began to organize his things. Everyone nodded and helped him. Their weapons were rearranged on the lockers inside their room along with their armor that they neatly arranged. Now, Doc wore a purple t shirt and purple pajama pants while Dr. Grey wore a white night gown with purple accents. JD still wore his armor minus the boots and rucksack, which confused the rest of team FLGR but decided to not question him.
They also managed to set up a clinic the living room like they planned. There were health packs, needles and syringes, vials, first aid kits, and other medical equipment that were placed in the tables and cabinets.
For the refrigerator, the two medics neatly sorted out the food items. One side being the healthy choices and on the other side was a mixture of snack items and a designated area of motor oil for Lopez and whatnot.
Doc sighed contently and smiled at their newly reorganized dorm room slash clinic.
"Yep, everything is going to work out just fine" he said to himself.
Team CCDT's Dorm
"Alright everyone, I will be now setting some ground rules so listen up." Carolina ordered. Washington already knew this side of Carolina: the disciplined leader personality, so her dishing out commands wasn't new to him. Tucker became attentive while Caboose was just…being himself.
"What Goodwitch said earlier about this being a co-ed dorm is that you need to show proper courtesy and manners here in this room, especially since I'm the only female here. So I better not see you guys trying to sneak a peek on me when I use the restroom or change my clothes." She said sternly.
"Way ahead of you ma'am." Wash saluted.
Carolina nodded to this and knew that Wash wasn't the type of guy to take any advantage and comes off as very respectful like their days back at Freelancer. She can always trust him. The other member however, she might have some issues with but, nothing that couldn't be handled.
She turned her attention to Tucker who casually winked at her and smiled.
"I mean it Tucker." She hardened her gaze as her voice grew colder.
Tucker eeped and quickly answered "Okay okay, no need to worry about it." He waved his arms as a bead of sweat dropped from his forehead. "Damn, why do you have to be a hardass when it's me your commanding." He said as he swept back his curly hair. Carolina simply raised her eyebrow.
Tucker chuckled and said back "Okay, point taken."
Carolina finally turned her attention to Caboose who simply disassembled Freckles and then trying to put him back together like a toy. Caboose looked at her and asked. "Is it my turn to play now?"
She huffed and proceeded "Okay next, we're going to put this dorm room into order."
"I don't see anything wrong with it." Wash spoke.
"Well, the way the beds are placed make it seem cramped so we're going to place two of the beds on this side, and the other two on that side so we can place a holo-table there in the middle." Carolina answered.
"So, how did you get your hands on that gizmo?" Tucker asked.
"JD has a spare one in the Voyager."
"And why do we need one?" Tucker asked again.
"Well, me and Wash spoke with Dr. Grey and Sarge earlier that our dorms could function as special rooms for our group only if there is an emergency. Team FLGR's is the clinic or medical bay if any of us get injured, SSDG's dorm are the ammunitions, extra weapons, and rations, and ours will be the command center or the planning room. For us Reds and Blues only."
Tucker then continued "What if Grif tries to eat every ration we have."
"Don't worry." Washington reassured. "Sarge has got that handled. He patented the 'Grif safety lock.'"
Back at SSDG's Dorm room
Grif suddenly woke up after taking a short nap and felt hungry.
"Hmm, wonder what's on the menu for tonight" he mumbled. He hopped off from his bed and made his way towards Red team's fridge and upon placing his hand on the fridge's handle; he received a short shock like a joybuzzer prank. He jumped back quickly and muttered "What the hell?"
Meanwhile, Sarge and Simmons were peeking from a corner witnessing that their device worked.
"Operation 'safety lock' is a success sir."
"Great job Simmons."
At CCDT's Dorm
"Awesome." The aqua swordsman remarked. "And also, how are you going to bring the holo-table here?"
Carolina picked up a future cube and tossed it on the empty space. "Got that covered." The device then revealed the holo-table placed perfectly at the middle.
"Great, now it's cramped again." Tucker deadpanned.
"Um guys."
Tucker and Carolina looked to Washington as he opened another door. "There's a living room here. I think we can place the table here 'cause it's spacious."
"Well, uh okay." Carolina picked up another future cube and used it to teleport the table to the other room. Now all that's left was their personal weapons and items that lay cluttered on the floor. Tucker began picking his up until he heard Caboose call out to him.
*Psst* *Psst*
"Hmm?"
*Psst* *Tucker* Tucker* Caboose called out in whispers. Tucker placed his things near his bed and asked. "What's up buddy?"
"Do you wanna make bunk beds?" Caboose quickly asked.
Tucker took a few seconds to see that with the holo table gone, the room felt a bit empty and needed something to at least make it fun. He smirked and agreed to Caboose's plan.
"Alright dude, I'm in."
"Neat!"
At CCDT's common room which was now converted to the meeting room, Wash and Carolina were busy gazing over the new holo-table they acquired.
"Okay, pulling out Beacon Academy's schematics now." Carolina said as she typed on the holopad. Beacon's layout was then projected.
"Well that's useful." Wash said. He then heard whirring noises of power tools, a sound of a saw cutting through wood, and a hammer striking down.
"Wait, do you hear that?" He suddenly asked.
"Yeah, I do." Carolina answered.
"Sounds like it came from the bedroom. Let's check it out."
The two freelancers bolted out only to see a hurriedly constructed bunk bed with Caboose reading comic books on the top bunk while Tucker was using his Scroll on the bottom bunk.
"Hey guys. Love our handiwork?" Tucker asked the two freelancers while smirking.
"This is so going to backfire." Wash muttered to Carolina.
"I can't help but agree." Carolina responded.
The way Caboose rolled over his bed at the top bunk made creaking noises that he and Tucker didn't pay any attention to whatsoever. Oh well, they made it, let them have fun with it.
