Here we go
"So, grimm studies was boring don't ya think?"
Tucker decided to start some small talk as the group along with their new acquaintances made their way to their next lesson which was about 'Weapon Crafting and Upkeep.'
"I second that statement" replied Yang as she stretched her arms before continuing "The only thing that was cool was when Washington was called down to kick that grimm's ass which by the way was totally awesome Wash."
Washington felt his cheeks grow slightly red for a bit as Yang complimented him with a smile and a wink.
"Oh, it was nothing." The freelancer tried to wave off any praises as for him as dealing with the boarbatusk wasn't that much big of a deal.
"That confident huh?" she then grinned widely "How about we spar sometime tough guy? Looking forward to beet ya!" she said excitedly as she pounded her fists
"I'd be happy too. Not unless I beat you down first." the freelancer smirked.
"Awesome." Yang smirked back
Ren, the normally quiet and reserved guy decided to pick up where Tucker left off.
"I don't want to classify his lesson as being 'boring', but he should have left out his tale because many of our classmates didn't think it would be important and decided to ignore all of it and sleep."
Carolina then spoke up "I agree, his lesson should have focused more on how to take down the different forms of grimm, not bore his students to unconsciousness. While I do find it nice to see him try to uplift our spirits and make us positive, he should have made his grand tale precise and up to the point."
"How very unappreciative of you lot." Weiss butted in trying to get away from her partner as she grew increasingly annoyed of her antics on how she was excited for the 'best class ever' since her partner was a weapons nut.
"Professor Port is a veteran huntsman and to hear him preach about his exploits and experiences should be taken with high forms of respect, honor and gratitude." She concluded.
"Sure, try to keep playing as the teacher's pet because that's gonna score you some brownie points." Yang quipped which drew some laughs from her teammates and friends.
"Zip it Xiao-long" the heiress hissed.
Ruby, who couldn't take any much more of their slow paced walking and conversations tried to urge the gang to hurry up.
"Come on you guys, we need to get to class now!"
"Easy there sis, we get it. I know you love weapons but that doesn't mean we need to rush to satisfy your needs to show off your weapon." Yang tried to reason with her.
Ruby gasped with shock and replied "Crescent Rose isn't just any weapon! She's an engineered beauty made with love and compassion."
She cuddled her weapon in its inactive mode as if it were her baby, which to Ruby's mind actually placed the notion of her weapon really being her child.
"Looks like somebody's clingy with their weapon" Simmons muttered.
Ruby heard it and argued "Who wouldn't be? Our weapons are an extension of ourselves. They are a huntsman and huntresses' pride and joy."
"I wouldn't go so far as to cuddle it in my sleep and name it." The nerdy red replied.
Ruby looked to Simmons in disbelief as if he was a crazy person "Why wouldn't you?"
"Well for one, they're just weapons. They are tools that we need to defend ourselves with and are expandable. And number two, sure I take care of my gun and do maintenance on it but if it were destroyed, I could always choose another one. In a life or death scenario, I would rather sacrifice it than myself." The maroon member of the Reds concluded.
"Same here" Tucker said
"Yup" agreed Grif.
Simmons snorted and turned to them. "Oh yeah?" he asked "how about I take away the Grifshot and your sword?"
Both Tucker and Grif looked horrified from that prospect. The leader of team RWBY looked glum from Simmons' answer and patted her scythe. "Crescent Rose is special for med because I made her and I don't think there is any weapon out there that could replace her."
"Um, why name them?" Donut asked.
"Duh, its cause each weapon is unique and different and to name it would mean that you are their sole owner and user." Ruby happily answered and swung her weapon, accidentally hitting Weiss on the head.
"Watch it you dolt!" Weiss snapped at Ruby.
"S-sorry" the reaper timidly answered back. Ruby noticed that for any small error she might make when Weiss was involved, the heiress grew increasingly frustrated and upset with her. 'Did I do something wrong?'
On the other end, Jaune was walking with silence with a forlorn look on his face. His partner Pyrrha noticed this and being the good person she was, asked if something was wrong.
"Are you okay Jaune?" she asked him.
Jaune tried to deflect this and forced out a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine, no need to worry about it Pyr."
Doc joined in and said to the blond knight. "You seem upset there buddy? Is everything alright?"
"Don't worry fearless leader! If anything or anyone tries to bother you, then I'm going to break their legs!" the hyperactive ginger tried to cheer her leader up.
Jaune looked at Doc's impressive rocket launcher, then to Nora's amazing hammer, then to Ren's subtle but cool guns and to Pyrrha's sophisticated but elegant xiphos/gun/spear weapon and finally casted a downtrodden look to his sword.
He sighed and said "It's just that you guys have such amazing and cool weapons and mine is just a simple and boring sword."
"Jaune, the simplicity of a weapon is always overlooked upon these days." Ren said. "Your sword, while it may be basic, is a very effective weapon when used with the right skill and efficiency. It's simple but practical. A good weapon does not necessarily mean that it has to fill the purpose of being complex, it needs to fill the purpose to aid and serve the person who uses them." The green ninja said wisely to comfort his leader.
That brightened the Arc boy up a bit.
Doc nodded and said to Jaune "If it makes you feel better, take a look at JD's weapon."
The ODST, upon hearing his name approached Doc moving his hands in attempt to ask a question on why he was summoned.
"Can I borrow your gun?" the medic asked.
The trooper shrugged and handed Doc his SMG. The medic upon receiving it showcased it to Jaune.
"You see Jaune, take a look at JD's weapon. You can even hold it if you wish." He gave Jaune the gun after the boy holstered his sword.
The blond inspected the gun and noticed that it was just it, a gun. Not one that could transform into something neat like a katana but just a regular gun. Ren's words echoed in his mind and he noticed the similarity between JD's SMG and his sword: that they were just simple and had a single mode only. The gun worked by releasing the trigger and spraying bullets at the enemy and that's it, nothing more.
He handed the SMG back to JD and sighed one again. "There's this other reason, I didn't make my sword. It's just a family heirloom. My great grandfather used it in the Great War and was just passed on from generation to generation. It wasn't handcrafted by me."
Pyrrha patted her partner's shoulder and smiled warmly. "Just because you didn't forge it doesn't make it any less special. That sword having lasted for so long and used during the war means it's very valuable Jaune."
That made Jaune positive again.
"Yeah! It must be worth a million Lien if you sold it Jaune-Jaune!" Nora added.
"Thank you guys." Jaune said happily. "Now come on, let's get to class."
At an abandoned warehouse, in the shadier parts of Vale, Roman Torchwick pulled out a cigarette to let him ease out of tension that was building up inside him as he was called upon to meet with his 'boss'.
"Gods, when will things ever go right for me." He grumbled and puffed out some smoke. "Just what have you got yourself into Roman?" he talked to himself. "One day, you were at the top of Vale's criminal underworld and suddenly, you get hired by some enigmatic boss to work for her alongside those animals." He sneered in utter disdain towards the faunus and the White Fang. "Seriously, those buffoons can't do nothing right. I'd honestly take a toddler and have him do all the workload for me."
"In time, you will get all the people competent enough to help you." A sultry voice spoke up from the shadows.
That caused the criminal flinch and whirl into the source of the voice. There stepped out an attractive woman who appeared to be in her early 20s having long raven hair that was swept to her shoulder, sporting a red dress accompanied by heels. She has fair skin with amber eyes that locked onto the finely dressed thief.
"Ah, Cinder. Boy don't you just look stunning tonight, and by tonight I mean every time. To what do I owe the pleasure to you this evening?"
"How about we skip the formalities and head straight onto business? How are your operations doing?" the woman sharply interrupted after Roman's weak attempt to humor her.
The thief grunted before replying. "Stealing new dust had started to go downhill ever since our squabble with little red and those brightly colored tin cans."
"What of them?" she pressed on.
"If I were to believe some of the rumors that my runners have heard or gathered, apparently the big man from Beacon's office has persuaded those brats into joining his academy."
"Hmmm" Cinder pondered for a moment "fear not. I and my associates will handle them once they become an obstacle when we begin our next phase of the plan. For now, continue with your theft operations and stir some uproar in the city."
"Couldn't you lend me people who actually know what they are doing? I've had it with these freaks." Roman protested.
"In due time, you will receive what you have rightfully earned. But for now, continue to play your part." She ended her conversation with him and walked away. Once she was out of hearing range, Torchwick look upwards upset and angrily muttered "gods above."
As Cinder walked away, she was flanked by two people who were in their late teens, a silver haired boy and a mint haired girl.
"Do the plans change ma'am because of them?" the girl asked.
"No, it won't be a big problem since they will all still be eliminated if our plan succeeds. But, should they choose to interfere, we will make them regret for rolling the dice in a dangerous game they're not supposed to play." She answered sinisterly.
