Chapter 5

(A.N. Welcome back readers, in this chapter, I'm fast forwarding about a month and Erin Strauss has found out about Emily and Hotch. Also, I do not own CM.)

In the past few weeks, Hotch and Jack have officially moved in with Emily and Lindsay. They created another small bedroom that Lindsay would move into, and Jack and the baby would share her old one.

Today, Hotch and Emily had a doctor's appointment for the baby. It was with a new doctor. They had not found a permanent doctor to use during the pregnancy.

"Miss. Prentiss." the nurse calls out from behind the counter,

"We can take y'all back now." she says with a strong southern accent. Emily and Hotch follow the nurse and she takes them to an exam room.

"The doctor will be in with y'all shortly." she said leaving them in the room.

Emily sits on the exam table and gets undressed for the ultrasound. Hotch is over in the corner looking out the window, with his jaw locked more than normal. Emily can tell that he is nervous.

"Hey, are you ok?"

"Yes, I just get nervous around doctor's appointments."

"Aaron Hotchner, are you scared of a doctor?" Emily joked.

"Hey, keep that information to yourself. I don't need the team to know that I have a fear."

"Ok ok."

The doctor came in.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Prentiss." she said.

"Oh, actually we're not married, but we're a couple." Emily explained to her.

"My apologies, shall we take a look at the baby?" she said, hoping to change the subject.

"Yes please." Hotch spoke up.

"So what do you two do for work?" the doctor asked, trying to make small talk with them as she begins the exam.

"We both work for the FBI." he said.

"That's interesting, and here's your babies." she said pointing to the sonogram screen.

"I'm sorry, did you just say babies?" Emily turned her head towards her.

"I did, see, there's one baby and right behind that one, there's another. I'm assuming that your other doctors did not see it because the babies were hiding behind each other."

Emily and Hotch just looked at each other in shock.

"Wait what? How could I be pregnant with twins? No one in my family has a history of multiples." Emily started asking all these questions given the new information.

"Emily, Jack was originally a twin, but the other baby died in the first trimester." Hotch speaks up.

"And we can tell you their genders now." the doctor continued.

"Yes, because we have to make plans for when they arrive." said Hotch.

"You are having a boy and a girl." she said.

After the appointment was over, they went to lunch before going back to the BAU. Instead on their usual takeout spread over Hotch's desk. They decided on a little diner on the edge of D.C.

Hotch ordered a hamburger with fries, and Emily ordered a grilled chicken salad, even though it was not what she really wanted, she was trying to eat better for the babies. She did order a vanilla milkshake with her food as well.

"I don't know what we are going to do with two babies now instead of one." Emily said while they were waiting on the food.

"I don't know either, but we will figure it out." he assured her.

"Do you think that room is big enough for 3 kids?"

"It should be. Sean got a job as a bartender." Aaron says changing the subject.

"That's good. Does he still want to become a cook." Emily says taking a bite of her salad

"He still says that, but I think he could do more with his life." he says getting a drink.

"I think he'd be a great chef. My mother is wanting to become head the investment marketing branch of the UN." she says stealing some of Hotch's fries.

"Now that truly suits Elizabeth. She'll be great at that job."

They continue to talk about their family members until they are done with their food. When they are about to leave, Aaron gets a phone call from their section chief, Erin Strauss and she tells them that she needs to see both him and Emily in her office when the get back from lunch.

"I think that Strauss knows." Hotch says when he gets off the phone.

"Why do you say that?" she asks.

"She wants to see both of us in her office when we get back to the BAU."

When they arrive back at the FBI head quarters, they are both nervous about what is about to happen. They walk down the hallway, hand in hand, towards Strauss' office.

"Thank you two for coming." the section chief said when Hotch and Emily reached her office door.

"It wasn't like we had a choice." Emily mumbled under her breath.

Hotch heard her and gave her a stern glare.

"Of course Section Chief Strauss, was there something you needed to talk to us about?" he covered for her.

"Yes, would the two of you like to explain this security footage we obtained from within the BAU?"

Strauss turns her computer and presses play. It was from the camera that overlooks the bullpen in the BAU, in the corner you can see most of Hotch's office. In the video, it shows Emily walking up the steps to go into the office, but she didn't shut the door. Then she and Hotch start kissing passionately, and then they backed over to the couch. The computer turns black after that, but each person in the room knew what had happened afterwards.

A few moments pass as Hotch and Emily both had looks of horror on their faces.

"We're sorry we did not report ourselves, but not for anything else." Emily spoke up this time.

"When did this start?" Strauss was now interrogating them.

"Well, I used to work for her mom when we were younger, before either of us were in the Bureau, but nothing happened then, we just knew each other. Then, years later, when she was assigned to the BAU, we were close. Then after my divorce she would help me with Jack a lot and during the Katie Jacobs case, we both admitted that we had feelings for each other and started going out." Hotch answered.

"Normally in these circumstances, I would move one of you to another division, but the director agrees that both of you are most valuable at the BAU, so that is where you will remain. However, there does need to be some consequences for breaking policy, and so, after the case you are about to take, you both will not be allowed to travel on the next 10 cases you receive. You will have to conference with the rest of the team from here with Miss. Garcia. You will also have to complete the paperwork for your whole department during this time as well." Erin told them.

"Since we are here, and you're already pissed at us, I need to report something else as well." Emily spoke.

Strauss looked at the woman ready to listen to what she had to say.

"Agent Hotchner and I are expecting twins together." she said abruptly.

"Emily, I thought that you wanted to wait to tell her." Hotch spoke up.

"I did, when she didn't know about the two of us, but now she does, so we should go ahead and tell her everything."

Strauss just stared at them, thinking of what she was supposed to do in this situation. She had never had agents who were romantically involved with each other, let alone having a kid together.

"Ok, there's really nothing we can do about that now, and so you will be treated like any other agent who gets pregnant. You are free to work out in the field until your last trimester, and you will receive 8 weeks of maternity leave after you deliver." she interrupted the bickering agents.

Hotch and Emily got up from their seats and walked over to the door, knowing that the meeting was over, and made their way back to the BAU for debriefing on the new case.

End of chapter 5

(A.N. I decided to end it here because I couldn't think of really anything to add to the chapter. Also, at this point, I am thinking Emily is aroung 17 weeks pregnant, and it is close to Valentine's Day , so the next chapter will finish up the case they are on, and then be the team celebrating the holiday.)
