Chapter 8
(A.N. Welcome back. You didn't think we would see anymore of Gabriel did you? As always, I do not own CM.)
"Foyet." Emily says.
"Yes Emily, did you really think I wouldn't escape that tiny hellhole you called maximum security?"
She motions for Hotch to call Penelope and check in at the prison Foyet was supposed to be in.
"How did you find Gabriel?" she asked, hoping to be able to keep Foyet on the phone in order to track them.
"Just someone I was able to find who could help me." he said toying with her.
"Let me talk to Gabriel."
"Emily, Emily, Emily. I don't think you understand how this works. You are in no position to make demands, especially since you can't do anything in your current situation."
Garcia was tracing the call and said the phone was a block away from Hotch and Emily's apartment. Morgan, Reid, and JJ were heading there.
"What do you mean by that?" Emily asked.
"I'm sorry Emily, I have to go, hope to see you, and your growing family again soon." Foyet said and ended the call.
"He's never going to stop." she told Hotch.
"We'll catch him again and we'll make sure that he can't threaten ever again." he reassured her.
"We need to make sure Jack and Lindsay are safe."
"Yes, their safety needs to be top priority."
"We could ask my mother if we could keep them at her house. There are Marshals who keep guard, and she has even more security than that. Surely they would be safe there." Emily suggested.
"You make the call." he told her.
Emily called her mom to quickly explain what was going on, and that the four of them would be at her house soon.
Then she and Hotch wake up Lindsay and tell her to pack a bag quickly while Emily packed a bag for Jack without waking him up.
"Where are we going?" Lindsay asks when they get in the car.
"To Grandma Lizzie's. You and Jack are going to stay with her for a little bit." Hotch answered.
"Why?"
Then Emily got a phone call from JJ. When they had arrived at the location Garcia sent, no one was there, but there was a lot of evidence of Emily, Hotch, and the kids being stalked. she told JJ they would be there soon after the kids were safe.
"Why are we staying with Grandma Lizzie?" Lindsay asked again.
"Keep your voice down, you might wake up Jack, it's not safe for us at the apartment right now." Emily told her daughter.
They get to Elizabeth's and go inside.
"Hey caterpillar." she exclaimed. That was her nickname for Lindsay since she was a baby.
"Hi Grandma Lizzie, do you always call me that?"
"When you were a baby and were wrapped up in your blankets you would wiggle around and move from place to place like a caterpillar so I started calling you that." Elizabeth said to Lindsay pulling her in to a hug.
"Hey mom." Emily said carrying a sleeping Jack in her arms.
"Oh sweetheart, let me take him from you, you don't need to be carrying too much." she took Jack from Emily and laid him on the couch and gave him a blanket.
"Hello Elizabeth. Nice to see you again, thank you for letting them stay here." Hotch told her.
"Hi Aaron, of course they can stay as long as you need. Lindsay, why don't you go get yourself settled in your room while I talk to your mom and Aaron."
Elizabeth liked Aaron and thought he was a great match for her daughter. Although she doesn't agree with some of the things Emily does, she is happy about the babies coming soon.
"So explain the situation to me again." she told her daughter.
"An unsub that we had been trying to catch became obsessed with Hotch and his family to the point that Jack and his mom had to go into protective custody. Unfortunately, the unsub found them and killed Haley, and almost killed Hotch too. Then about 2 months later, he found me and Lindsay and tried to kill us as well, and then he was arrested, but he has since escaped. Then Gabriel got thrown in the mix, apparently he's working with our unsub and we figured we needed to make sure the kids were safe." Emily explained.
"Oh my, How did Gabriel get involved?" she asked.
"After he disappeared 16 years ago, he apparently turned to a life of crime. Mostly petty stuff, but now he's the main dealer of cocaine and illegal guns for the whole Eastern side of the country."
They did not know it, but Lindsay had been listening to the conversation. Emily had told her about her father, but she never told her his name.
"Who's Gabriel?" she said coming down the stairs.
No one answered her, they all looked at each other in shock.
"Is he my father?" Lindsay asked.
Emily looked at her mother, then at Hotch, she did not want to have to have this conversation with Lindsay, but now she has to.
"Yes sweetheart, let's go in here and talk about a few things." she said and guided her into one of the other bedrooms.
"Mom, you're scaring me."
"Everything I have told you about your father is true, but I have not told you the whole story."
"What is going on mom?" Lindsay asked.
"Your father's name is Gabriel Ricci. Yes, I had had no contact with him in the past 16 years up until tonight, but I did know where he was and what he was doing. I have been keeping tabs on him since we moved here." Emily explains to her daughter, as she hands her the most recent picture she has of Gabriel.
U
"That's him?"
"Yes, and you remember a guy called Foyet?"
"Of course, he's tried to kill us."
"Well, Foyet and your father are working together. That is why you and Jack are staying with Grandma Lizzie."
"You said earlier that he was the biggest provider of drugs and guns to this part of the country? Was he like that when you were younger?" she asked.
"No sweetie, he was very different then. I do not know what happened to him, but about 8 years ago he resurfaced to lead a life of crime."
"Did he say anything about me?"
"He did, but we do not need to have contact with him, at least not right now, but hey, I do have some good news." Emily said hoping to change the subject.
"What now?"
"Aaron and I have decided on names for the babies, Thomas and Charlotte."
"Those are good names, I'm glad that we were able to talk Mom, but can I go back to bed now?"
The two of them left the room and went back to where Elizabeth and Hotch were talking in the living room. Lindsay said goodnight to everyone and went to her room. then Hotch and Emily left and went to the crime scene were Foyet and Gabriel had been.
It was an apartment a block away from Hotch and Emily's. There were pictures of all of them everywhere, all over the walls, and even on the ceiling. There was some of Emily and the kids when they were out places, Jack and Lindsay while they were at school, and even from the doctor's office they were using for the twins. The ones that Hotch was in had him marked out and had (you're dead, leave them, enjoy it while you can) clearly directed towards him.
"We think that they found you when Hotch was able to leave the hospital." Rossi told them.
"They are baiting us. Why would they have gone through doing all of this work and then leave it?" Hotch asked.
"There are also numerous receipts from restaurants, and from the pharmacy." JJ walked in.
The team keeps searching the apartment and find more pictures, a few guns, and a note addressed to Emily from Gabriel.
Emily, our daughter is so beautiful, she looks just like you. I wish I could tell you what happened all those years ago, but I can't. One day wee will be together again soon. Love, Gabriel.
"Why would he write this after so many years?" Morgan asked.
"Yea, it has been what 16 years since you had contact with him?" JJ added.
"Yes, and he had no interest in being a father then. I'm assuming Foyet said something about Lindsay to him and now he is obsessed with her. They will stay close by, these two will want to watch our lives unfold, and Foyet can not change pharmacies again." Emily said.
"We should look at places you two visit regularly, the BAU, kids' schools, possibly even restaurants you like to go to to find where they may go next." Spencer said.
"We'll put Garcia on that in the morning." Hotch said.
"I have the Crime Scene Techs bagging and testing everything here. Everyone go back home for a few hours and meet back the BAU at 9am." Morgan told the rest of the team since he was still the head of the team.
(A.N. I decided to end the chapter here. I know it's a weird spot for an ending. Leave reviews and comments. Thanks for reading this far.)
