Chapter 3
The Baseball Game
Throughout the last couple of days, Molly and Libby were slowly getting used to their college classes. It was a lot of hard work, but after surviving their first couple of days, they finally got a day off.
After waking up in the morning, Molly and Libby started to eat breakfast together as they started to talk about what they could do today.
"So Molly, now that we finally have a day off, what would you like to do today?" Libby asked.
"Maybe we can take a drive around the campus!" Molly suggested. "We have been really busy the last couple of days and it might be fun to take a look around here!"
"That's a good idea! It would be nice to drive around the campus without rushing to a building for once! Would you like to come with us, Scratch?" Libby asked.
Scratch shook his head as he was laying on one of the beds with his eyes closed. "You can go without me! I am comfortable right here!"
With an amused grin, Molly decided to bribe Scratch as she took out a bag of chips.
"Oh, that's too bad, Scratch! Looks like I have to eat this bag of chips all by myself!"
As Molly said that, Scratch's eyes widened before he got up from the bed.
"Well played, Molly! I suppose I can spend a little bit of time with you two!" Scratch said as he grabbed the bag of chips.
Once they were ready, Libby and Scratch got in Molly's car as she began to drive. It felt relaxing for Molly to drive around the campus without being in a hurry for a change. She and Libby kept looking around the campus until they took notice of an open field.
Here, they took notice of a bunch of students playing a game of baseball. This gave Molly and Libby flashbacks of the time they have been playing for the Lemmings baseball team when they were in middle school.
"Wow! This baseball field looks pretty impressive!" Molly stared at the field in awe. "Want do check it out, Libby?"
"Sure! I think it might be fun watching others play baseball!" Libby agreed before she got out of the car with Molly and Scratch.
The three friends made their way over to the field as they watched everyone play the game. Unfortunately, they ended up getting the attention of someone they didn't want to see today.
"Molly and Libby! How unexpected!"
This caused the girls to let out annoyed sighs.
"Andrea." Libby greeted with disappointment in her voice.
"I was not expecting to see you two here!" Andrea said.
"I can say the same thing for you, Andrea! Especially after you left us hanging a few days ago!" Molly reminded Andrea.
"Oh, that reminds me! Thanks for being on my livestream! I have gotten a lot more followers since then!" Andrea showed the amount of followers she had gotten as Molly and Libby rolled their eyes in annoyance. "Anyway, I was just talking to an old friend of yours. You two might remember her."
Once Andrea said that, a girl with a baseball bat approached Molly and Libby. As they took a closer look at her, there was something about her that seemed weirdly familiar.
"Hey, Molly. Doesn't that girl seem familiar to you?" Libby asked.
"Now that you've mentioned it, I feel that I've seen her before." Molly tried to remember where she saw the girl before.
The girl stopped in her tracks as she took a glance at Molly.
"Molly McGee! I had a feeling that I would see you here!" The girl spoke.
At first, Molly was confused, but she soon recognized the girl when realization hit her.
"Tammy Myers?"
It was a surprise to Molly and Libby that they were face to face with their baseball rival from middle school. After all the years that had passed, they never thought they would see Tammy again.
Tammy gave a smirk the moment Molly remembered her. "So, you've finally remembered me! You must also remember when you beat me at that baseball game in middle school! That win of yours was nothing more than a fluke and I'm here to prove it!"
"But that was years ago! You're still not over that?" Molly couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"I was robbed of that victory and I demand a rematch! So, which one of you is going to take me on? Surely not this girl." Tammy turned to Libby. "Even I remember how terrible she was that day!"
Molly soon glared at Tammy, angry at her for mocking her girlfriend like that. She had no right to talk about Libby like that. After all, it was Libby who made the winning catch in the first place.
"Hey! Libby is not terrible! She is amazing and can do anything! I'm sure that she can even win a baseball match against you!"
"Uh, Molly? What are you doing?" Libby started to get nervous as she didn't like where this was going.
Tammy simply ignored Libby as she said, "Then let's see how good she is against me! I challenge her to a baseball match right now!"
"Ooh! I have to record this!" Andrea suddenly spoke up before taking out her phone. "I would get a lot more followers if they see Libby losing really badly to her!"
With a roll of her eyes, Molly turned to Libby and said, "Don't listen to her, Libby! I meant what I said, when I told Tammy that you are amazing and can do anything!"
"I don't know about this, Molly!" Libby started to sound nervous. "Scratch once told me that the reason why the Lemmings won all those years ago was because he helped them cheat."
"Well, not to brag, but if it hadn't been for me, you and the Lemmings would have lost the very first game and every game after that!" Scratch pointed out.
"Scratch, you're not helping!" Molly gave Scratch an annoyed look before bringing her attention back to Libby. "Listen, Libby! While it was true that Scratch helped us out throughout most of the game, it was you who made the winning catch without any help! You can do this because I believe in you!"
While Molly's words were encouraging to her, Libby still felt nervous going up against Tammy. Despite that, she knew that she still had to try.
"You're right, Molly! I just need to believe in myself!"
Once she was ready, Libby stepped onto the field with a baseball bat in her hand. She took once glance at Tammy, who was ready to throw the baseball. Everything was silent, apart from Molly cheering for Libby.
"Woo! Go, Libby!"
Libby began to blush as she felt slightly embarrassed from Molly's constant cheering. Despite that, she could't help but smile as she was grateful that Molly was encouraging her. As Molly cheered for her, Libby started to gain more confidence in herself. She tightened her grip on her bat as she got ready to swing.
"Believe in yourself! Believe in yourself!" Libby repeated to herself.
It wasn't long before Tammy threw the baseball and Libby swung her bat at it as hard as she could. This sent the ball flying in the air, giving Libby a chance for a home run. Libby ran as fast as she could around the field.
Once Libby ran all the bases, Molly cheered for her girlfriend. Molly ran down the stands and embraced Libby in a tight hug.
"I'm so proud of you, Libby! I knew you could do it!" Molly exclaimed before Libby hugged her back.
Angered by her loss, Tammy yelled, "That was just a lucky swing! The next time we meet, I won't go so easy on you!"
As Tammy walked away in anger, Andrea looked at her phone, disappointed that the game didn't go as she hoped.
"Well, that was disappointing." Andrea sighed. "I suppose I can still get a few followers from her winning that match."
"You know, there is more to life than followers and your livestreams, Andrea!" Molly explained.
"Yeah! And you were so mean to us with your last livestream a few days ago!" Libby jumped in. "I'm used to you bullying me, but I won't forget what you did to Molly!"
All of Libby's confidence soon faded the moment Andrea glared at her.
"You weren't exactly that nice to Molly on the first day of middle school yourself, Libby! I seem to remember that you weren't any better to her on the first day of middle school." Andrea pointed out.
It was at that moment when Libby stayed silent as she stopped arguing. As much as she hated to admit it, she knew that Andrea was right. Libby wasn't exactly that nice to Molly when she moved to Brighton either. While Libby did warn Molly about Andrea at the beginning of the day and Andrea was the one who gave Molly a tough time throughout the school day, Libby remembered constantly ignoring Molly and even going as far as joining the other students in bullying her.
A look of guilt soon appeared on Libby's face. Molly soon noticed that, so she wrapped an arm around her back in an effort to comfort her.
"Hey, that was all in the past! Besides, you were the one who forced her to and the other students to single me out that day!" Molly yelled as she was not going to let Libby take the blame for this. "Come on, Libby! Let's go!"
As she grabbed her girlfriend's hand, Molly led Libby back to the car where they sat down together. She noticed that Libby still looked guilty, so she tried to cheer her up.
"Libby, don't let what Andrea said get to you! I don't even think about what happened that day anymore!" Molly explained.
"Molly is right, Libby!" Scratch spoke up. "If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't exactly that nice to Molly on her first day of school either, so I guess you can say we were both pretty terrible!"
"That doesn't exactly make me feel better, Scratch!" Libby sighed.
"I think what Scratch is trying to say is that what happened back then doesn't matter anymore! You are an amazing girlfriend and I am happy to have you in my life!" Molly assured Libby.
Hearing this made Libby feel better as she gave Molly a grateful smile.
"Thanks, Molly! I'm happy to have you in my life too!" Libby replied before she and Molly shared a kiss with each other.
Once they pulled away from the kiss, Molly asked, "So, would you like us to go back to our dormitory now?"
Libby nodded. "Yes. It has been a long day and I think I'm ready to get some rest."
At that moment, Molly started up the car and drove away from the field. Exhausted from their long day, Molly and Libby returned to their dorm room as they got ready for their next day of college together.
AN: So, as usual, I would like to thank everyone who read this story so far. I thought I'd use this chapter to include Tammy Myers in this story. I'm not sure if I'm going to include Tammy in a future chapter of the story or if she would only be in this chapter. Either way, I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far and I hope to publish the next chapter pretty soon!
