Chapter 4

Invitation To Andrea's Party

As the months went by, Molly and Libby continued attending their classes together. On their days off, they went on dates together whenever possible. Before they knew it, winter came and Molly and Libby just finished up their last class for the semester.

The two friends walked out of the building, both of them exhausted from their long semester. With the last of their classes over, Molly and Libby discussed their winter plans.

"So, what are you going to do for winter break, Libby?" Molly asked.

"I don't think I have too many plans. I think I would just have a relaxing break and spend Hanukkah with my mom!" Libby replied. "What about you, Molly?"

"Well, just like you, I'm going to spend time with my family! I know that I talk to them over the phone everyday, but I really miss them." Molly admitted. "I'm just so glad that I will see them again tomorrow!"

Libby gave an understanding nod. She understood why Molly would miss her family so much, especially since she had never been away from them for so long before. After all of the months that passed, Libby started to miss her mom as well.

Starting tomorrow, Molly and Libby would finally see their families again. They were about to go back to their dormitory when someone called out for them.

"Hey, Molly? Libby? Can I talk to you for a minute?"

Surprised, Molly and Libby turned around and were shocked to find out that Andrea was the one who spoke to them.

"Andrea? What do you want?" Libby asked, slightly confused with Andrea's presence.

"Listen, I know that I have been giving you two a hard time throughout the semester and I want to apologize." Andrea confessed, much to Molly and Libby's surprise. "Please let me make it up to you! I am going to be having a party tonight and it would really mean a lot if you can come! Here's the address to my house." Andrea texted her address to Molly's phone. "Just think about it, okay?"

Surprised by this unexpected turn of events, Molly looked up from her phone and said, "Oh, thank you, Andrea! That's really nice of you! Libby and I will think about it!"

Once Andrea left, Molly and Libby took a look at the address on the phone. They both recognized the address as the fancy house that they took notice of on a few occasions. Considering how rich Andrea's family is, Molly and Libby couldn't be too surprised that her dad bought her her own place on campus.

"What do you think, Molly? Do you think this is some kind of trick?" Libby asked, feeling slightly suspicious.

"I actually think we should go to the party, Libby!" Molly replied with a smile.

Somehow, Libby knew that Molly would say that. Molly always ends up seeing the good in everyone no matter what. It was one of the many things Libby loved about Molly.

"You really trust Andrea, don't you?" asked Libby.

"Yes! Everyone deserves a second chance and this might be the perfect opportunity for us to be friends with Andrea!" Molly explained.

As she considered the invitation Libby finally gave in and replied, "You're right, Molly! We should at least give Andrea a chance! Let's go back to our dorm room and get ready for the party!"

"That's the spirit!" Molly exclaimed before she and Libby returned to the car.

After driving back to their dorm room, Molly and Libby took this time to get dressed for the party. They were both wearing the same attires that they once wore at Libby's Bat Mitzvah. By the time it was nighttime, the two friends were finally ready to go to the party.

Molly began to drive Libby and Scratch to the party as Scratch started to get impatient.

"Are we there yet? It feels like this ride is taking forever!" Scratch complained.

"We should be getting close, Scratch!" Molly assured as she began looking for the address Andrea sent her.

"Well, this party better have some food to eat! That's the only reason why I agreed to come!" Scratch pointed out, feeling grumpy from not eating for awhile.

"You shouldn't have to wait too much longer, Scratch! I think we are almost there." Libby explained before noticing a fancy house in the distance. "Hey, Molly! Is that the house over there?"

Molly took one look at the house and replied, "Yeah, this seems just about right!"

At that moment, Molly noticed that there were a bunch of other cars parked outside the house, so she knew that this was the right place. After finding a parking spot, Molly got out of the car with Libby and Scratch.

All three of them walked up the steps to the house before Molly knocked on the front door. They waited for a couple of moments before Andrea opened up the front door and greeted Molly and Libby with a smile.

"Oh, you made it! Thank you two for coming!" Andrea exclaimed.

"Well, thank you for inviting us, Andrea!" Molly smiled.

"It's the least I could do! Please come in!" Andrea said as she let Molly and Libby in her house.

Once they entered the house, Molly and Libby ended up being surprised by how many students Andrea invited to her party. It was at that moment when Molly and Libby began to introduce themselves to everyone to make new friends.

While Molly and Libby were socializing with everyone, Scratch began to eat as much food as possible without anyone noticing. After a couple of hours, Molly and Libby sat down together as they were having a fun time tonight.

"This party has been amazing, Libby! I'm glad that we are finally friends with Andrea now!" Molly exclaimed.

Despite how well everything was going so far, something didn't seem right to Libby.

"Molly, don't you think that Andrea wanting to be our friend is a little too good to be true? She never wanted to be our friend before. She kind of has been giving us a hard time throughout the semester." Libby pointed out.

"Maybe she just feels sorry for what she did to us and wants to make it up to us." Molly guessed. "I really think she has changed for the better!"

"I suppose you are right. Maybe I'm just overthinking this." Libby now started to relax.

A couple of minutes had passed before Andrea walked over to Molly and Libby.

"So, how are you two enjoying the party so far?" Andrea asked.

"It is wonderful, Andrea! Libby and I are having a fun time!" Molly replied with a smile.

"I'm glad that you are having a good time! So, I hope you don't mind, but can you two do a favor for me?"

Curious, Molly stood up and said, "Um, sure, Andrea! What do you want us to do?"

"Oh, it's really not a big deal, but I was wondering if I could do a livestream of all three of us, just to make our friendship official!" Andrea said as she took out her phone.

"Sounds good to me! Let's go Libby!"

"Um, okay!" Libby nervously replied as Molly held her hand and helped her up.

Andrea then led Molly and Libby to a nearby stage. Everyone at the party was gathered in front of the stage, so Andrea tried to get their attention.

"Everyone, may I have your attention?" Andrea called out before everyone stopped talking. "Thank you all for coming to my party! Now, I would like to introduce our guests of honor! They are two good friends of mine, Molly McGee and Libby Stein-Torres!"

Once they were introduced, Molly gave a friendly wave to everyone while Libby gave a shy smile. As she waved to everyone, Libby noticed that Andrea was slowly sneaking away from them.

Andrea soon grabbed a nearby rope and Libby looked up to realize that there was a bucket of water hanging right above her and Molly. That was when Libby realized that this party was just a setup to prank her and Molly. At that moment, Andrea yanked on the rope and the water came splashing down.

"Molly, look out!"

Thinking fast, Libby pushed Molly out of the way. Before Molly realized what was going on, she watched in shock as water was dumped all over Libby. It was at that moment when Libby was drenched in water before she started to shiver.

"Well, I did not expect that to happen." Andrea said, surprised by this unexpected turn of events. "I suppose this prank video is good enough to post anyway." Andrea soon stopped recording on her phone.

Molly was heartbroken to see her girlfriend humiliated like this. Despite how soaked Libby was, even Molly could see the tears welling up in her eyes. At that moment, Libby rushed off the stage as she ran away, crying. Molly's sadness for Libby was soon replaced by rage as she glared at Andrea with anger in her eyes before Scratch floated next to Molly, shocked by what happened.

"Wow! That was just cruel and that's coming from me!" Scratch then turned to Molly and said, "So, what do you say, Moll? Want me to get revenge on Andrea for you?"

As much as Molly wanted revenge on Andrea for what she did to Libby, she knew that Andrea wasn't worth it. Libby was more important, so without a word, Molly left the stage as she rushed after Libby.

"Okay, so I'm going to take that as a yes!" Scratch called out to Molly before he waited for the perfect opportunity to get revenge on Andrea.

Right when nobody was looking, Scratch briefly appeared right next to Andrea and revealed himself to her, letting out a loud yell before disappearing immediately afterwards. With a scream of fear, Andrea tumbled and fell into a nearby punch bowl. Andrea slowly got up before noticing that her dress was covered in stains.

"What just happened? This dress is one of a kind! I am going to sue for this!" Andrea yelled as Scratch chuckled at Andrea's misfortune.

Meanwhile, Molly rushed out of the house to see Libby close by, sitting by herself. Libby shivered from the water that was dumped on her. Molly knew that she had to do whatever it took to make her feel better.

At first, she was going to ask Libby if she was okay, but knew that it was not the best idea. Of course she wouldn't be okay, especially after what just happened to her. All Molly could do was sit right next to Libby and give her a comforting hug.

"Molly, you really shouldn't comfort me. I deserve this!" Libby suddenly spoke up, much to Molly's surprise.

"What are you talking about?" Molly asked, confused. "You saved me from that prank."

It was at that moment when Molly started to hear Libby cry. "I-I know that it was several years ago, but I still hate myself for how I treated you on the first day of middle school!"

This left Molly surprised by what Libby said. She had no idea that Libby felt guilty for what happened after so many years. If there was anyone to blame, it should be Andrea for turning the whole school against Molly in the first place.

"Libby, it's okay! I don't care about what happened anymore." Molly tried to comfort her girlfriend.

"Molly! I attacked you with dodgeballs in gym class!" Libby suddenly snapped with tears in her eyes. "I hurt you! How could you be okay with this! I could have done anything to stop you from having an awful day, but I was too much of a coward to stand up to Andrea! Let's face it! I'm no better than she is!"

As Libby continued to cry, Molly placed a comforting arm around her back.

"Please don't cry, Libby! We all make mistakes! I made way more mistakes when we first became friends, like when I nearly ruined your Bat Mitzvah, when I tried to stop you from performing in the talent show, when I tried to keep Scratch a secret from you, and when I went crazy from wanting us to have a snow day together! What matters is that we learn from our mistakes! I promise that I cherished every moment that we spent together and I wouldn't change a thing it! I love you, Libby! Don't you ever forget that!"

Libby sniffed before she embraced Molly in a tight hug. "Oh, Molly! I don't deserve you!"

"Yes, you do!" Molly said as she looked at Libby in the eyes. "And if you ever say anything like that again, I would just have to keep reminding you how much you mean to me until you know how awesome and amazing you are!"

Libby gave a slight smile, as she felt lucky to have a wonderful girlfriend like Molly. As the two friends hugged, Scratch floated through the front door as he sat down next to them.

"You two shouldn't have to worry about Andrea! I just scared her into a punch bowl, so she won't be getting those punch stains out of her dress for anytime soon!" Scratch laughed. "I even possessed her and deleted that video of Libby from her phone before it got uploaded!"

"Aw, Scratch! You did it all for Libby?" Molly was touched by what Scratch did.

"Just don't make a big deal out of it! You clearly care about her and I was just helping out my friends!"

Libby then wiped the tears from her eyes as she gave Scratch a grateful smile. "Thank you, Scratch!"

Before Scratch knew it, Molly and Libby embraced him in a group hug. At first, Scratch was annoyed by this, but he eventually gave in and hugged them back. As soon as the group of friends let each other go, Scratch was ready to go back to the dorm room.

"Alright! Let's go back to the dormitory! It's been a long night and I'm ready to get some sleep." Scratch let out a yawn.

Once they were ready to go back, Molly drove Libby and Scratch back to the dormitory. Scratch floated into his dollhouse to get some sleep before Molly and Libby got changed into their pajamas.

Before they went to sleep, they decided to watch a movie on Libby's laptop. Molly and Libby cuddled up to one another before watching the movie for the next couple of hours. Halfway through the movie, Libby noticed that Molly was leaning on her shoulder as she fell asleep. At that moment, Libby realized that Molly was shaking in fear as she let out a soft whimper. She could tell that Molly was now having a nightmare. Thankfully, Libby knew exactly what to do. She placed her hand on Molly's hair before gently shaking her away. Molly slowly opened her eyes before looking around the room, momentarily confused.

"Libby?" Molly spoke in a sleepy tone. "Did I just fall asleep?"

"You did and it sounded like you were having a pretty bad nightmare." Libby explained. "Did you have another nightmare where I moved away?"

"Not exactly." Molly shyly looked away. "I dreamed that I was lost in some kind of dark abyss and I ended up being alone. I couldn't find anyone. Not Mom, Dad, Darryl, Scratch, or even you."

In response, Libby gently brushed her fingers through Molly's hair. "It's okay, Molly! I'm here now and I will never leave you!"

"Thanks, Libby! I'm so lucky to have you in my life!" Molly smiled.

"I feel the same way about you, Molly!" Libby replied before she and Molly happily kissed each other..

After sharing the kiss with each other, Molly and Libby watched the rest of the movie before turning off the lights and going to bed.

AN: Well, this chapter ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would be. So, for those who are wondering, Libby comforting Molly after she had a nightmare is supposed to be a reference to one of my previous Mollibby fanfics, 'I Will Never Leave You.' After being together for several years, I can imagine that Libby comforted Molly many times with her nightmares throughout their relationship, so by the time they reached college, Libby knew exactly what to do to comfort her girlfriend! Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying the story, and feel free to let me know what you thought of the story so far!
