Chapter 8
Study Session
With the first day of exams slowly approaching, Molly and Libby spent their time studying as much as possible. As they studied, Libby constantly had to check on Molly to make sure she was paying attention. After a few days of studying had passed, Molly and Libby ate their breakfast as they discussed their plans for the day.
"So, what should we do today?" Molly asked with a smile. "How about we all get some ice cream to eat?"
"That's the best idea I've heard all semester!" Scratch exclaimed.
Before Molly and Scratch could rush out the door, Libby stopped them at the last second.
"Wait, Molly! I think we need to go to the library and study for our exams."
"What? Why?" Molly and Scratch asked in unison.
"Because Molly, if we want to have a good future together, we have to take our education seriously! Don't forget that we only have a few more weeks left before our exams!" Libby reminded Molly.
As much as she didn't want to go to the library, Molly knew that Libby was right. If they wanted to graduate from college, they had to be prepared for the exams.
"You're right, Libby! We should make the most of our study sessions!" Molly finally gave in.
As Molly said that, Scratch was left disappointed. "Why would you do this to me, Libby? I was so close to getting all the ice cream I wanted today!"
"Don't worry, Scratch! I promise that once our study session is over, you can have as much ice cream as you want!" Libby promised.
"Fine! But this had better not take too long!" Scratch complained before he followed Molly and Libby out the door.
After getting in the car, Molly and Libby drove over to the library where they began to study. They read through several books and asked questions to one another to make sure that they understood the material.
A couple of hours had passed and Libby had her eyes glued on the pages of her book. Libby let out a yawn before she felt something lean on her. That was when she noticed that Molly just fell asleep and was now leaning on Libby's shoulder.
Libby smiled before she began to blush slightly. After all the time they spent studying, it was no wonder why Molly was so tired. As cute as Molly looked when she was asleep, Libby thought that she might as well wake her up. She gently woke Molly up, causing her to stretch and let out a yawn.
"Oh, sorry, Libby! I must have fell asleep." Molly rubbed her eyes.
"It's okay, Molly! I think we have studied enough for today! Let's go get some ice cream!" Libby said.
"Finally! I'm ready to get out of this boring library already!" Scratch said as he was ready to leave.
"Alright, Scratch! You two can go. I'll catch up after I put up the books!" Molly explained.
"Okay! We'll meet you outside, Molly!" Libby smiled before she and Scratch left the library.
Once Libby and Scratch left, Molly took the time to return the books. After returning the books, Molly was about to leave when she was approached by Andrea.
"Hey, Molly! Just wanted to let you know that I have been working on being a better person and everything is going great!" Andrea exclaimed. "I have donated my money to a bunch of charities and made everyone so happy!"
While donating to charity was a nice thought, Molly didn't think she could trust Andrea just yet.
"Uh, good for you, Andrea."
Molly turned to leave before Andrea began to follow her.
"Wait, I can tell that you are still mad at me, but I still want to make everything right! I'll do anything!" Andrea tried to reason with Molly.
"There is nothing you can do!" Molly said, showing slight annoyance with Andrea.
As Molly left the library, Andrea did her best to keep up with her.
"Molly, please listen! I know what I did was wrong, but I don't know how I can make up for it! I just want you and Libby to forgive me so we can actually be friends! What can I do to make you forgive me?" Andrea begged.
It was at that point when Molly stopped in her tracks. She tried to think of a response, but didn't have an answer.
"I-I don't know, okay?" Molly turned to face Andrea. "Listen, Andrea! Libby is really important to me and I don't want to see her getting hurt! I know that you are really trying to be better, but I just can't forgive you yet."
With a sigh, Andrea lowered her head in defeat. After everything that she had done, she couldn't say she blamed Molly for still being angry with her.
"I understand. It's not like I deserve forgiveness. You were right about me. I have been so awful! It's no wonder why I don't have any friends!" Andrea looked away in sadness.
As she was reminded of the time she blew up at Andrea, Molly was overcome with guilt. She then walked over to Andrea to comfort her.
"Andrea, I'm sorry for what I said before." Molly apologized. "I was just mad."
"You had every right to be mad at me. Even if I did want attention from my parents, it was no excuse for the way I bullied you and Libby." Andrea looked as though she was about to cry.
Suddenly, Molly had done something that Andrea didn't expect. She gave Andrea a comforting hug. Surprised by this, Andrea slowly wrapped her arms around Molly before she silently sobbed for a few moments. After a few moments had passed, Molly and Andrea let go of each other before they were face to face with each other.
"You just looked like you needed a hug." Molly explained.
Andrea sniffed before giving Molly a grateful smile. "Thank you! I promise that I will be a good friend that you and Libby deserve! I'll see you later!"
With that, Andrea left Molly alone as she returned home. As Molly watched Andrea leave, Libby and Scratch approached her, surprised by what they saw.
"We just saw the whole thing, Molly! Does this mean that you and Andrea are friends now?" Libby asked, feeling hopeful.
"I'm not sure, Libby." Molly admitted. "I just don't think I'm ready to be her friend just yet!"
"If I'm being honest, after seeing how much she was willing to change, I think I would like give her a second chance, but if you are not ready yet, I understand!" Libby said. "Anyway, do you still want to get some ice cream?"
Molly nodded. "Yeah! Let's go!"
With their long day over, Molly, Libby, and Scratch got some ice cream to eat before sitting down on a bench. As they were enjoying their ice cream, Molly and Libby were happily watching the sunset together while Scratch ate his ice cream in one gulp, including the cone itself. The group of friends began to relax as the sun was slowly setting.
"So, are you ready for the exams, Libby?" Molly asked as she finished eating her ice cream.
"I am! I'm sure that we would both do great!" Libby replied as she kept her eyes on the sunset. "Hey, Molly? Once we graduate, what do you think the future would be like for us? Aren't you even a little nervous?"
Truthfully, Molly hadn't thought about it before. After all the time she spent preparing for the finals, she hadn't thought about what the future would hold for her and Libby.
"I haven't given it much thought, but as long as we are together, I'm sure that we would have a pretty bright future!" Molly assured.
"Aww! I feel the same way, Molly!"
At that moment, Molly and Libby hugged each other before kissing each other on the lips. They kissed each other for what felt like forever until Scratch started to get annoyed with them.
"Alright! Enough of the mushy stuff already!" Scratch rolled his eyes. "It seems to be getting late, so let's just go home now!"
After breaking from the kiss, Molly started to notice that it was getting dark and said, "You're right, Scratch! Come on, Libby! Let's go back to our dorm room!"
After finishing the rest of their ice cream, Molly and Libby got in the car before driving back to the dormitory to get some sleep. With the exams right around the corner, Molly and Libby knew that their semester was coming to an end.
