Legend of Ghostwalker

"Applebloom! Sweetie Bell! I found a really cool book in Twilight's library! It has a story about the Ghostwalker!" An excited pegasus pony called out as she ran into their clubhouse. "Oh, hi there, Amethyst Rose. How do you like Ponyville so far?"

A unicorn filly with a black mane and tail tipped with amethyst highlights shrugged, her necklace catching the sun a little. "It's alright. There's certainly more excitement than where Midnight Lotus and I used to live. So what's this about the Ghostwalker?"

The other two fillies' jaws dropped. "You never heard of it?!" The unicorn squeaked out.

The earth pony gasped. "It haunts the Final Fields Resting Place. Some say it's the ghost of a pony who met a tragic end. Others say it is the combined spirits of those who were disturbed."

The pegasus pony put the book on the crate and opened it to the pages that held the story and started to read.

"Many years ago, a unicorn mare had gone to the Final Fields Resting Place to tend to her family's section under an old willow tree. She had a saddlebag with beautiful flowers she intended to place there. As she walked through the field, the mare couldn't help but notice that there were so many forgotten ponies.

She stopped and tried to clean up what she could with her unicorn magic and left a single tiny bouquet of four flowers at each of the places she cleaned. When she reached the willow tree, all she had left was a single red rose. "I couldn't ignore the others," She whispered to her departed herd. "To do so would be a great dishonor to your memory. I'll come back and bring more flowers."

Every day, she returned with her flowers. But every time she would clean the field's forgotten ponies' resting places and leave flowers. Each time the unicorn always managed to have one flower left for her family. As she left, the mare promised to return tomorrow and bring more flowers.

Time went on and her days seemed to repeat. But she didn't seem to mind any more as now those who were once forgotten now had someone who cared for them in death. In time, she was called by her ancestors and laid to rest among those she looked after and her family.

Some say that her spirit walks the Final Fields Resting Place to protect her adopted family. Others that she is restless, seeking more ponies to make family members. Just know that when visiting the pasture, always make sure to leave a basket of flowers at the entrance."

"Too cool! Let's go check it out!" Applebloom cheered.

Amethyst Rose frowned. "We have to get flowers before we go. The story said so."
