When Chloe woke up the next morning, she was almost able to convince herself for just a second that the previous day's events had been a dream. That was until she opened her eyes and found herself in the same small cell she'd been put in. Everything she remembered had happened. She was in Heaven with God and angels, one of which was Lucifer, who for some reason had no memory of her.
Chloe tried to come up with some logical explanation for everything she saw, but she couldn't explain away Lucifer's father levitating her gun in mid-air without so much as touching it. She also couldn't explain away him making a bed appear out of nowhere for her. Everything she thought she knew had been turned on its head. God was real. Lucifer, her partner, was the actual Devil.
Chloe soon heard footsteps. She sat up on the bed and watched as God entered the room.
"Hello, my dear. I'm glad to see you're awake," God said.
Chloe didn't respond. What was she supposed to say to God? She was still seriously in shock. She didn't know what to say about any of this.
"I can see you're still pretty upset, but I really need some answers. Can you tell me your name, please?" God asked.
"Shouldn't you already know who I am? You're God. You know everything," Chloe said.
God chuckled. "That's a common misconception, one that even my own children have. I am omniscient, but I don't see everything. There are limits to what I can see and know. That being said, I should be able to see more about you. It's unnerving that I can't." He'd spent the night using his omniscience to determine as much as he could about this creature. Much to his dismay, he could find out almost nothing. He also used it to try to find out what sort of relationship she had with his son, Samael. Again, he couldn't find anything more than what he read in her mind. That, he could explain to an extent though. He could only see so far into the future. It was possible that this woman's meeting with him superseded that. Of course, if that was the case, he didn't know how she could see it yet. He didn't think her omniscience was more powerful than his own. She didn't even seem to know she had it.
"My name is Chloe Decker," Chloe finally told him.
"Very well. Where are you from?" God asked.
"What do you mean where am I from? I'm from the same place as any other human? Earth. I feel like that much you should know," Chloe said.
"Human? I'm afraid I don't know that term. And what you have just said is not possible. I created Earth. No intelligent being has ever inhabited it. In its current state, it's barely inhabitable at all," God said. What she'd said concerned him. He didn't think she was lying, but it also couldn't be the truth. He knew of every creature that had ever been on Earth. He'd put every one of them there himself.
Chloe looked at him like he'd grown a second head. How could he say he didn't know what a human was? He literally created them. "I lived there, so did billions of other humans, who were created by you."
God frowned. Again, that wasn't possible. He had created no such beings. "You're mistaken, my dear. I'm not sure why you'd think that. Until yesterday, you didn't believe I existed."
"Because humans have never been given proof that you existed. It was always just a belief that many had that God had created the human race, but if you exist, it stands to reason that those stories are real too," Chloe said.
God wasn't sure what to make of what she was saying. If she was lying, and he didn't get that impression, it wasn't a very good lie. She was claiming something that was utterly impossible. To be sure, however, he probed her mind again. To get to the bottom of this, he had to see her life firsthand.
God gently delved into her memories. There, he found many entities that looked just like her. He also took a look at her environment, which did resemble Earth to a degree, but it was much more sophisticated. There were structures and creatures that just couldn't exist on Earth in its current state.
Chloe suddenly felt weird. She couldn't explain it, but it was a really weird sensation, and she was pretty sure God was responsible for it. "What is that? What did you do to me?"
God pulled out of her memories. He wasn't surprised she felt it. He'd had to dig a little bit deeper this time than last night. He did do his best to make sure it wasn't painful, though. "I apologize. I tried to be as gentle as possible. I needed to access your mind to find out if you were telling me the truth."
"You read my thoughts?" Chloe asked, horrified.
"Your memories," God corrected.
"Those are private!" Chloe exclaimed. Of course, as soon as she said it, she remembered who she was talking to. She's supposed nothing was private in God's eyes.
"Again, I apologize. It was necessary. Unfortunately, it wasn't very helpful. I can't dispute anything you've said, but it's impossible to be true. I have created no such creature that you have mentioned, and certainly I have not put them on Earth. The only theory I have is that you are somehow deceiving me with your mind, and I don't know why you would do that," God said.
Chloe laughed almost hysterically. "This has got to be some kind of bizarre dream. I'm gonna wake up to find out none of this happened. I'm sure Lucifer will get a kick out of it when he finds out."
"Tell me what you know of my son," God told her. He would get back to the rest later. Chloe Decker's knowledge of Samael worried him the most. He needed to know what she had seen of him.
"The Devil. My partner's the devil. At least if this isn't some crazy dream," Chloe said. She was still talking, mostly to herself. She was pretty sure she was about to have a nervous breakdown. Of course, this whole thing could have been a nervous breakdown.
"What does that term mean?" God asked.
"The Devil? Shouldn't you know it? You created it. Then again, you created humans, and you don't seem to know what they are."
"Answer my question please," God said. It was not a request. He could see that she was upset, but he needed to know about his son.
"I think it means something different to Lucifer than it does to humans. To humans, it means evil. It means a cruel being who only wants to hurt people," Chloe said.
God's eyes darkened considerably. "How dare you? That is my child! You will never speak of him that way again!"
"I didn't call him that. You did," Chloe said. Again, that was assuming she wasn't losing her mind.
"Never! I love my son. I would never affix him with such a title," God said. He was becoming more furious by the moment. He was trying to be patient with this woman, but she was pushing him too far.
"He says otherwise. He says you kicked him out. You disowned him," Chloe said.
"Never," God said before walking away. There was more he needed to know, but he couldn't stay in that room another moment. He might end up killing Chloe Decker on the spot if he did. You needed to regroup and try to find other means to get the information he needed.
