Okay here is the second chapter and the first one was fun to write so I will continue with more chapters as it is nice write stuff like this while focusing on big personal projects.

Hope you guys enjoy.

I do not own Thomas the Tank/Thomas & Friends or I would have kept them in their models forms.

Edward was in the shed cleaning his old Number 2 engine seeing Thomas painting his engine like his inspired Edward to try to get her back out on the rails again. First thing he had to do was give her a good clean seeing dust, dirt, cobwebs and rust had gotten on it. Then he will go Sir Topham Hatt to ask to see if he can use his engine to help Thomas handling shunting.

As he cleaned his engine Gordon had come over after noticing the shed's door open for Number 2 which hadn't been open in quite some time.

"Ah I see you finally getting her polished upped to be put into a museum." He said in his usual boastful way and Edward simply rolled his eyes as he continue cleaning; he figured Gordon would be like this.

"Actually, I am hoping to get her out and working again." He said and rolled his eyes again when Gordon laughed as if he heard the funniest thing ever.

"Sir Topham Hatt would never allow that. He wants strong engines like mine and Henry doing the work." Gordon chuckled.

"Yet you two are too lazy to fetch your own trains, but I truly see why you don't me out there. You don't want people to see my blue engine showing how hard of a worker it is and see how lazy your blue one is. If people saw that than I am sure they wouldn't want to see you again as they want a 'proper' blue engine pulling their train." Edward retorted with a small grin and Gordon was shocked by what Edward said. Edward had to admit it did feel good to bring Gordon down a peg or two.

"Never! Your engine is old and weak! It's going to a bloody museum where it belongs where we all know it is going!" Gordon retorted angry now.

"I will decide that, not you Gordon." A voice said and both drivers turned to see Sir Topham Hatt standing there. Both men were surprised to see him there as he is usually in his office by now sorting out business.

"Edward, some investors are taking a tour of our railway and they personally requested you to take them on the Old Coaches." He said and Edward had a big smile on his face.

"Yes sir." He replied happily and got into his engine to start it up. Took some time to get it started as it hasn't moved in quite a while, but eventually he got it started and after a long time Engine 2 was finally leaving the shed. Edward had a big smile on his face and he never thought this day would ever come again.

Gordon watched on surprised at the sight before grumbling and marched off to his engine to get ready to take the express.

Sometime later Edward's engine pounded along the line pulling the three 'Old Coaches', that were some of the first coaches used on the North Western Railway and these three coaches were commonly used before the current Express coaches came along. So, like Edward they were locked up and rarely brought out, but Edward hoped if he could come out more to work than maybe Sir Topham Hatt might allow the coaches to be used again seeing it would help local passenger trains out.

Edward was having a great time as it felt great to be out and about again pulling coaches. It reminded him of the old days where he was younger and was doing what he could to help Sir Topham Hatt out, be it be pulling coaches or good trains. He also enjoyed shunting as he knew all work is important work, be it big or small. So thus, during this whole ride he couldn't wipe the big smile on his face as he was back doing what he loved.

Eventually the ride had to come to an end and when he pulled up to Knapford Station he saw Sir Topham Hatt waiting for his train. The investors got off and were impressed by Edward saying they wouldn't mind having him giving them another tour at a later date.

When the investors had spoken to Sir Topham Hatt and had left Edward decided now to approach him and ask his request. He was delighted and surprised by the answer he got.

"I was going to ask you to get her ready for work again. I am sorry if I had forgotten about you. I was so caught up with handling business I never got the time to get you for work again." Sir Topham Hatt smiled and Edward was happy to hear that. Finally, back to work again, he might not be pride of the line anymore, but that doesn't bother him as he is happy to work no matter the job again.

Later on, at night he happily told the other drivers the news at the bunkhouse and Thomas was thrilled for him to drive again. Henry too was happy to hear he was able to work again as he could see how depressed Edward not being able to help out on the rails.

Gordon was annoyed, but wisely kept quiet though Edward couldn't help but rub it in a bit as he walked off to bed.

"Taking her out again tomorrow. What you think of that?" He asked smiling at the bigger man who snorts and Edward went to bed smiling. Gordon grumbled as he heads to his bed.

In the morning Gordon was still in a foul mood and tried to hide it by using his ego when he saw Edward.

"You watch me little Edward as I fly by with the Express. Now that will be a brilliant sight." He said to Edward who still had a amused smile on his face. Gordon got more annoyed by that and marched out.

"Just wait and see Gordon there's more than just the Express that needs pulling." Edward said smiling before heading off himself to shunt some trucks around the Shunting Yards.

He always enjoyed shunting trucks as it gave his engine a good chance to push something with force, but he was always careful to not break or damage the loads in them.

He had a fun day of shunting and was impressed by his engine being able to get the trucks around the sheds shunted before lunch time. At lunchtime he sat near his engine enjoying a sandwich when he heard a familiar whistle and looked up to a amusing sight.

Gordon came flying past and instead of pulling nice shiny coaches of the Express he was pulling really dirty trucks of all kinds.

"A goods train! A goods train! Oh, the shame of it. Oh, the shame of it." Gordon could be heard grumbling angrily loudly as he raced past and Edward couldn't help, but chuckle. Gordon forgot that Henry was taking the Express this morning and Gordon was assigned to handle a goods train for the morning.

"Next time he shouldn't boast too much than maybe he would remember better." Edward said to himself amused before he got ready to get back to work.

However, not long after he was getting ready get back to work the Yardmaster came up to him.

"Gordon is stuck on the hill passed Wellsworth and can't get up. Head over there and give him a hand." The Yardmaster said to Edward.

Edward nods and heads off straight away, but he did find it amusing how Gordon was just getting a bad morning today.

Soon he came upon Gordon who was standing outside his engine fuming as the Guard from his Break-van argued with him.

"You're not trying!" The Guard shouted at him and Gordon snorted back. "I can't do it. These trucks hold a good engine back." He grumbled back and that was when Edward came up.

"Came to give a hand to push you up the hill." He said and Gordon fumed more. "You and that rust bucket! No good at all!" He said fully believing Edward was useless here, but Edward simply replied with a smile. "You will see."

Soon a few moments later Edward had gotten back to the bottom of the hill and Gordon reversed his train back down too. Edward pushed against the Break-van from behind and whistled his engine while shouting to Gordon. "I'm ready!"

"No good." Gordon grumbled as he started pulling his train up the hill with Edward pushing from behind. It was slow and awfully hard as Edward's engine screeched as this was its first time in a long time being a back engine for a heavy load.

"You can do it. You can do it old girl." He said to his engine as he pushed on harder and was determined to not fail now.

Soon before he had a chance to react they were at the top and Gordon was already rocketing away. "I done it! I done it! I done it!" He shouts boastfully letting his ego get to him again and didn't even acknowledge Edward's presence as he just rocketed out of view.

Meanwhile Edward pulled his engine to a siding fill up its water and he came out panting as he exhausted from that ordeal, but he was proud with his engine.

"When I get back to sheds later I am giving you a nice new coat of paint of blue and red stripes." He said to his engine smiling patting it proudly.

Later on, back at the sheds he was admiring Number 2 with Thomas who had decided to help with the painting.

"She might be old and not the main engine anymore, but she is still a pride of the line." Thomas said smiling.

"Indeed, she is." Edward couldn't help but agree.'

Not as long as the last one, but still happy with the results

What you guys think? :)
