A little later than planned. Got very busy recently.

Next chapter coming up right now.

I do not own Thomas the Tank/Thomas & Friends or I would have kept them in their models forms.

After sometime after Thomas's first ever passenger train and the little hiccup of accidently leaving the coaches behind at the station, Gordon had eventually stopped teasing Thomas about much to the younger man's relief.

However, since than Thomas had become more determined to get out more and not be confined to Knapford. He would constantly talk about it to the other drivers. Gordon would not really pay attention as he would wish Thomas would give up on it, also because he didn't want to fetch his own trains again. Henry was halfway like Gordon, but also couldn't help but respect and admire the younger driver's determination. Edward was fully supportive of the idea as he could see how determined Thomas was and said he would put in a good word for him to Sir Topham Hatt.

Sir Topham Hatt had spoken to Thomas saying he will certainly think about it as he has been impressed with Thomas's work at Knapford and despite him accidently leaving the coaches behind on his first passenger train run the passengers were still impressed by Thomas's driving.

Thomas was happy to hear all this, but he was still impatient and wasn't afraid to let his fellow drivers know it.

"I'm tired of pulling coaches and shunting around the station. I want to see the world." He said one night at the bunkhouse while the drivers had their dinner. Gordon simply rolled his eyes as he still wished Thomas would knock it off while Henry just shrugs it off as he ate.

Edward looked at him with a amused look as he remembered how he was when he first started working here years back.

"Tell you what Thomas." He spoked up catching the younger driver's attention. "I am taking a goods train first thing tomorrow morning, but you can take them and I will handle shunting in at the station for you instead."

Thomas smiled excitedly at this chance. "Yes of course I will do it. That would be nice."

Edward smiled at the younger driver's excitedness before he got up to send a message to the Yardmaster about the change of plans.

In the morning Edward returned to inform Thomas that the Yardmaster said yes to it and Thomas rushed off immediately, but his impatience had once again made him not focus as Edward was trying to tell him about something and Thomas didn't hear as he had rushed out by then.

The thing Edward was trying to tell Thomas was about was the workmen that handled goods trains. They were called the Rock & Load crew and they were an independent workforce that Sir Topham Hatt hired to handle goods train loading. They were hard workers and preferred to be left alone to work which they will do happily if someone doesn't bother them as it is infamous they hate when someone orders them around or mess with them as they will pay that person out.

Thomas did not know this and made his first big mistake when he saw them.

He ordered them about.

The crew were already grouchy as they were expecting Edward today, but when they saw Thomas come in they weren't happy. They just went with it as no point in arguing as it is still work, but the moment Thomas ordered them about they were going to pay him.

They overfilled the coal cars Thomas was taking with extra coal, they overloaded the two vans that were also part of the goods trained with extra cargo and they disabled the Break Van's brakes.

They smiled at Thomas and told him his train was ready. Poor Thomas was none the wiser to their trick they put on him.

Thomas was happy to be off and about as he pulled his train along not knowing the payback they have set for him. He pulled his train along happily and excitedly as this was the first time he ever pulled a goods train, which were just as important as passenger trains.

He had to admit though he did have to work hard to pull the heavy train behind him. But he was making good speed as he raced through Henry's tunnel, named by him of course.

Soon he reached Gordon's hill and he found himself really had to work hard to get his train uphill. He shovelled coal into the firebox as fast as he could and felt exhausted by the time he reached the top. He felt accomplished when reaching the top and let out a sigh of relief as he starts putting the brakes as he will make sure the ride down is nice and easy.

But his problems had just begun.

As soon as he started going down all that extra weight and cargo had an immediate effect.

Thomas found himself rocketing down the hill extremely fast and with the Break-Van's brakes disabled his engine's brakes meant nothing with all that weight forcing him downwards.

He tried to fight for control, but no matter what he did he was no match for all that weight that kept on forcing him onwards.

He could see Maron Station coming up and luckily for him a signalman saw he was trouble. They quickly switched the points in time sending Thomas into a siding and Thomas finally managed to get control as his train stopped right before the buffers.

He pants hard as he felt he was about to have a heart attack and stumbled out of Engine 1's cab before sitting on the ground to catch his breath.

Some workmen there saw the problem Thomas faced and helped him out by unloading the extra coal and cargo while fixing the Break-Van.

Thomas accepted a drink of water from a workman and as he relaxed from his frightening ordeal a shadow was casted over him.

He looked up and saw Sir Topham Hatt standing over him. "Hello Thomas, what are you doing here?"

"I brought Edward's goods train…" Thomas said feeling like a child being lectured by his dad. Sir Topham Hatt should be lecturing Thomas for not telling him about the switch and for him ordering the Rock & Load crewmen about, Sir Topham Hatt did suspend them for it and he could see Thomas was truly sorry about it.

However, he knew Thomas was still new and was just eager to proof himself by showing he can handle jobs like passenger and good trains which Sir Topham Hatt knows Thomas can only get good at by doing them. So, he will let him go without a punishment for now as he saw Thomas learned his lesson now.

"You have a lot to learn young Thomas once you pull a few more goods and passenger trains without incidents than you will be a really useful."

"Yes, sir I will." Thomas said getting back in his engine and starts pulling out of the yards to continue on his job, but now he was a more wiser and patient driver as he vowed to not be so impatient again.

Hope you all enjoyed
