Guess what? Chicken butt. But also I don't own any of the characters pertaining to Percy Jackson.

Thank You!

Poseidon, the god of the sea, Storms, Earthquakes, Droughts, Floods and Horses. The Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses and King of Atlantis was currently mad, no correct that, seething. He had just discovered that Oceanus, the Titan of the River Oceanus, Oceans and Father of Waters had begun rising again. But instead of being neutral like he was in the first Titan Titanomachy he was convinced by Poseidon's father to join the side of the Titans. This was an annoyance to Poseidon for a plethora of reasons with the obvious one being having to organize his army and wage war on Oceanus. But there were common raids on smaller villages in the outskirts of the sea as well as ancient sea monsters rising from the depths of trenches. All of this, naturally fell onto Poseidon's shoulders. He couldn't rally a force large enough, quick enough to fend off any of these raids so naturally all of the complaints lodged went directly to him. Another annoyance and slight insult was the fact that no matter how hard he and the council of the sea tried they could not pinpoint where Oceanus and his army were. Poseidon had never fought against Oceanus in wartime and thus didn't know his strategy but it seemed brutally effective. But what really had Poseidon seething today was when he found out that Keto had reformed and joined Oceanus's army. The southern states of the United States had certainly noticed Poseidon's anger as very destructive hurricanes rocked communities there. Some of the demigods living in those communities had made multiple sacrifices to the sea god in attempts to quell his anger but the effects of those sacrifices were minimal at best.

Poseidon was planning to release some of his anger and power on sea monsters who he did know the location of and were inevitably going to join Oceanus's forces. But before Poseidon flashed away to the Western Atlantic he felt a wave of familiar power and anguish blast through the seas. The source of the wave was from Montauk beach, New York. Poseidon was not known to be the smartest god ever but he could definitely decode who that wave came from. The only other being with a bond close enough to Poseidon to send out a wave like that would be his only living demigod son, Perseus. Poseidon was instantly alert and worried about what could have happened to his lover and son. Poseidon instantly decides to instead flash to Montauk Beach and see what caused his son such anguish.

When Poseidon arrived at Montauk it was nighttime with Artemis in full control of the sky. The moon was full tonight and it made it easy for Poseidon to see the beach. What he saw he would have never expected. What he saw was a child that looked to be about 8 years old with pitch black hair and sea green eyes. He was in a feeble position with his knees pulled up to his chest and his arms wrapped around his legs. He looked to be far more thin than any child of his age should be and his clothes didn't look like they had been washed in days. Poseidon realized in horror that this was his and Sally's son, Perseus.

But what really shocked Poseidon was the fact that there was another 8 year old sitting next to him, hugging him. This 8 year old looked to be a healthy, normal child if the time was in the Ancient Greek Empire. The girl wore a brown dress and a brown scarf over her head that did not fully cover her chocolate brown hair as some cascaded down her shoulders. But her most capturing feature were her eyes which seemed to burn with flames like you would see in a hearth. Poseidon would never be able to not recognize the striking features of his eldest sister and sibling, Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth, Home and Family, the last Olympian and Guardian of Elpis.

Hestia was whispering soothing words into Perseus's ear and hugging him close to her body, transferring heat and hope to him. Hestia, despite her best effort could not get Perseus out of his dazed state from staring at the sea. She was so engrossed in comforting Perseus that she did not notice as another being approached her. When she finally did notice a man standing over both of them she looked up and was instantly captivated by green eyes identical to the color of the sea. Hestia instantly knew that the only person with such unique eyes like that would be her younger brother, Poseidon.

"Poseidon? Why are you here? Did you feel the wave of anguish from here as well? Why did it require your attention? Aren't you preparing for war against Oceanus?" Hestia fired off questions like nobody's business and it caused Poseidon to chuckle a bit.

"Yes sister, I am here. I did feel the wave of power and anguish in the ocean and I am still preparing for war against Oceanus and the other Titans. As for why I decided to come here, that is a bit more of a complicated question that I will answer but first I would like to know why you and this child are here if you know." When Poseidon purposely avoided the question of why he decided to come to the beach Hestia became suspicious of him but decided she could trust her brother with why she and the child were there.

"Okay brother, as long as you tell me why you are here at the end of my explanation." Poseidon nodded his head and agreed to this deal Hestia just made. "I was tending the hearth at Olympus while looking through the flames to camp half-blood and other happy families when I felt all hope completely lost in one person. It was crazy to think that anyone could be experiencing such helplessness. Due to my domain over home and Elips being able to sense bonds of hope I could tell that they had lost all their mortal family and had almost no hope left, essentially thinking death would be far superior to life." Hestia was hugging Perseus more and had her eyes closed but if she had her eyes open she would have seen Poseidon with an absolutely murderous look in his eyes, ready to tear apart who or what had made his sons life so miserable. But Hestia didn't see the terrifying look in Poseidon's eyes and continued, "they came running to the beach for a reason I can't figure out, and just started crying. I couldn't bear to see someone, a mere child like this, so I decided to come down here and try to comfort him. But despite my attempting to transfer hope and warmth to him I can't seem to break through him. I wanted to see what caused him so much anguish so I decided to look through his memories. It was harder than most to break through his mental defense and I don't think I saw everything but what I did find was... not pretty, perhaps you should take a look Poseidon."

Poseidon looked fearful that Hestia could have figured out that the boy was his son. But if there was one person who Poseidon would trust with telling that he broke his oath it would most likely be Hestia. Poseidon then took a deep breath and prepared to see life through his sons eyes as he put his hand on his son's forehead and entered his mind.

Poseidon instantly felt a bit of pride worm its way into his heart when he saw the defenses that Hestia struggled to get past. The defenses were clearly made with the power of the sea and were quite formidable. But for another being of the seas they were quite trivial to get past, especially for a deity of the sea. Hestia looked a little suspicious at the ease with which Poseidon passed through defenses that caused her some difficulty but chalked it up to him being more experienced. And so Poseidon ventured through his son's memories.

The first memory Poseidon saw was one of himself and Sally peering over their son and himself giving Perseus his blessing. The next memory was of himself leaving his lover and son while promising to stay in touch and visit them periodically. Then he saw Sally come home with a slightly obese man who seemed nice enough. He and Sally then got married but Poseidon knew Sally only agreed to the man, now identified as Gabe's proposal because she believed it would mask her son's demigod scent. And seeing the events after their marriage it seemed he did successfully mask Perseus's scent but in the process may have exposed Perseus to an even worse monster. For the first 2 weeks after their marriage everything seemed to be going well but after that it started. Gabe started to get drunk and invite his friends over to play poker while demanding Sally bring them food. Sally agreed to do things in order to keep Gabe happy and keep her son safe but after about a year it became much worse. Gabe began to use Perseus as his personal punching bag to take his anger out on and Perseus agreed to stay silent about it if Gabe never hurt his mother, and both upheld their sides of the deal, the water always healed him and Perseus woke up the next morning with a minor amount of pain and thought the deal was a fair one. This lasted for years until one day when Sally came home from work early without telling anybody and walked in on a particularly harsh beating session from Gabe. One thing leads to another and Gabe grabbed a knife and threw it at Sally with surprising speed and accuracy and the knife went clean through her chest into her heart. Even through the memory Poseidon could feel the power and hatred seething off of Perseus until Perseus, in his anger, discovered his powers over water. All the faucets in the house broke and water came flooding out, he reached for the blood of Gabe and levitated him into the air. When Gabe was there he repeatedly hit him with water until he hardened the water into spikes and threw it at Gabe. He dropped dead onto the floor and Perseus looked at him with cold eyes that frankly, terrified Poseidon. He then, likely unintentionally turned into water vapor and went to the place that brought him the most comfort, Montauk Beach. Poseidon noticed he had reached the end of his son's memories and left his son's mind.

When Poseidon returned to reality he looked nearly as mad as when he was told that Keto allied itself with Oceanus's army, except now he looked even angrier. "I swear if that man does not get sentenced to the fields of punishment I will personally go down the Hades and demand him be sentenced there." Hestia wholeheartedly agreed with Poseidon and even though she was a peaceful goddess even she had limits. Yet Poseidon's care for this boy again confused Hestia. Sure the man was an atrocious monster who deserved the worst punishment in the world but why did Poseidon think it required his attention so much?

"Going back to my question Poseidon, why does this boy matter enough to come here personally?" Hestia asked this question with a tone of caring because it was quite obvious the child meant some deal to Poseidon and she didn't want to risk making an already angry Poseidon angrier.

Poseidon's anger diminished slightly at his sisters caring tone but he did have to make sure no one beside Hestia would find out about his son until the time was right. "Well Hestia I will tell you that but before I do I would like you to swear on the River Styx not to tell anyone what I am about to tell you." Now Hestia was REALLY suspicious of Poseidon and had formulated a few ideas of what Poseidon was about to tell her, none of them particularly good.

"Okay Poseidon but you better tell me the whole story and don't think I can't tell if you're not telling the full truth." Hestia knew that Poseidon was not one to not uphold his end of a deal but she just wanted to make sure he knew to uphold his end. When Poseidon nodded his head in agreement to Hestia's proclamation so she made her oath, "I Hestia Goddess of the Hearth, Home and Family, the last Olympian and Guardian of Elpis swear upon the River Styx to not disclose what Poseidon is about to tel me to any other being." Thunder instantly boomed in the sky at this oath and Poseidon started his explanation.

"Well I don't know if you could tell but the wave that was sent out by Perseus contained the power of the sea in it." Hestia's theory was almost confirmed by this point with the wave of anguish containing the power of the sea and Poseidon knowing the boy's name. Poseidon smiled down at his sister and continued, "I think you already figured yes, Perseus is my son. I met his mother who saw in the memories here, at Montauk Beach she was in college and was a clear sighted mortal. After a while of meeting here we started dating and one thing led to another and Perseus was born. Sally was a queen amongst women, the most selfless woman I had ever met. I offered her a palace under the sea but she refused for an apartment in New York. I truly did love her but was forced to leave her out of fear for her safety if Zeus found out. I knew she loved me and my son so please Hestia believe me when I say Perseus wasn't born out of lust but of love. I am sorry for forcing you into an oath but my highest priority right now is to keep Perseus safe." Poseidon finished his explanation and looked at Hestia with eyes pleading for her not to do anything with his child.

Hestia and Poseidon made eye contact for a few seconds before Hestia burst out laughing. "Oh please brother, do you know me at all? You know I am the goddess of family and would never throw anyone, especially my own nephew under the bus. Of course I believe you when you say you loved the child's mother and he was not born out of lust but of love. That is definitely not your Poseidon style." Hestia was saying all of this while smiling in a cherry voice. This in turn caused Poseidon to let out a breath he was holding in and even had his face crack into a smile. But both of their smiles didn't last for very long before Hestia voiced what they both were thinking, "but you know as well that it is likely he is a candidate to be the prophecy child, he is currently the only "half-blood of the eldest gods" not stuck in time somehow." Poseidon sighed as he had already thought of this possibility but looking at the unchanging gaze of his 8 year old son he knew the child had already seen much, more than any child his age should.

"Yes I know it is a possibility sister, and I want to keep him safe but look at him, he has already seen too much. I don't know what to do with him or where to send him. I would send him to a fish-blood camp but Amphitrite or some other sea creature who holds a grudge against me may try to kill him as a form of revenge. At camp half-blood Zeus would find out about him and we both know how that would end. The best choice I can think of may be to give him items to help him and send him out on his own but either monsters would overwhelm him ,even with our help or Artemis's hunters would get to him. I can't think of anything, can you Hestia?" Hestia was deep in thought at how they could keep the child safe while properly preparing him for the world.

She ran through a few possibilities and some seemed viable until she found something that couldn't work. Hestia then thought of one that could work astonishingly well but if it failed it would have major repercussions. But it was the only thing Hestia could think of that may work so she decided to voice it, "what if... we raised his Poseidon? Or more accurately me, with you visiting. It would not be breaking the ancient laws as I would raise him and train him, I could bless him and bring him up in my palace. It may work and would put him in the best position to succeed in the prophecy." Poseidon would have never thought of something like that because of how close it came to breaking the ancient laws, but when he thought about Hestia's logic it made sense. It technically was not breaking the ancient laws and it would offer his son the best training and thus protection.

"You think that would work Hestia?" Poseidon sounded very hesitant in this plan and though Hestia would love to say that this plan was assured to work she couldn't lie.

"I am sorry brother but I can not assure you that it will go on without a hitch but it is the best I can think of." Hestia hated seeing her brother like this and wanted to comfort him the best she could.

Poseidon felt Hestia who was now around 20 years old and around his height hug him, transferring his hope to him and Poseidon couldn't lie, it made him feel at ease. "Thank you so much for offering that Hestia and if you are okay with it I would love to take you up on that idea. I am in your debt."

Hestia stopped hugging Poseidon with a light smile on her face and shook her head, "no brother you are not in debt this is just helping family, but I do have a request." Poseidon raised an eyebrow but motioned for Hestia to go on. "I have to be able to adopt your child, I always wanted to have a child of my own without breaking my oath."

Poseidon, for his part, was taken a little off guard by that but quickly collected himself and nodded, "of course that is okay Hestia, as long as you don't take my child away from me." Poseidon said the last part in two different ways. One was a joking way to try to defuse the tension but the other was dead serious like Poseidon would not hesitate to kill anyone who dared to take his son away from him.

Hestia did pick up on Poseidon's tone but she didn't express much concern, she knew Poseidon would never hurt her and she knew, that Poseidon knew that she would never take Perseus away from him. "Thank you Poseidon, I so wanted to have a child and your children especially are usually very kind and loyal unlike Zeus and Hades children." Poseidon had not seen his sister this happy in millenia and couldn't help but smile along with her. "But first we have to try to snap him out of his daze. I have been trying for a while but I can't seem to get him up, maybe you can? As his father you may share a connection." Poseidon looked pretty uncomfortable when Hestia said this as he had not really cared for a child in many centuries.

Poseidon decided to give it a shot though, what was the worst that could happen? Poseidon's fingers began to glow an ethereal sea-green and he put his fingers on the side of his son's head. In all honesty Poseidon didn't really know what he was doing but right now his only goal was to try to help his son get out of his state of shock. Poseidon began to start to feel a connection between his son and himself and Poseidon could feel the grief coming off of his son. It made Poseidon feel great pain in his heart but that motivated him even more to help Perseus.

Hestia watched for about 4 minutes before Poseidon was seemingly forced to tear his hands away from his son. Poseidon fell onto his knees and looked at his hands with eyes that held pain and looked like they were about to hold tears. Hestia quickly whisked herself over to Poseidon and kneeled down beside him. "Brother? Are you okay? What happened?" Hestia looked very confused and worried as to why the mighty king of the seas looked like he was about to start bawling his eyes out.

"Hestia, sister, how could a child be put through that? He is in such pain, what we saw was only a glimpse of what that man truly did to him." Hestia rarely held pity for someone as she felt it helped nobody but she couldn't help but have some for Poseidon. His son's mind may have been broken at the age of 8 without him even knowing who his real father was.

Suddenly both immortals felt a wave of power that was just teeming with hope passing through the area. It made both Hestia and Poseidon believe, without doubt, that Perseus would be okay. "Don't worry Poseidon, your son will live through this," this came from an obviously female voice but neither Poseidon nor Hestia could see where the voice was coming from.

"Who is there?" Poseidon wanted to sound intimidating and draw a weapon but for some reason, with the power in the air he felt obliged not to.

"Do not worry Poseidon I am not here to harm, just heal."

"If I may be so kind as to ask, what would your name be?" Hestia questioned the being.

"Oh come now Hestia I thought you of all people would be able to identify me, you are my guardian after all as I just hate violence." Hestia's eyes widened in realization before she turned into a deep bow. Poseidon seemed to know how this was as well or maybe he was just following his sister's example but he fell into a deep bow beside her.

"Lady Elpis, why have you decided to pay us a visit?" Poseidon raised this question showing that he did actually know who this was.

"Please rise, I hate it when people bow in my presence. As for why I am here Poseidon, I came here because of your son actually. I felt him and his severe lack of hope even with my dwindling power and would like to aid him right now. I can break him out of his paralyzed state and allow you to raise him without fear of the Fates punishing you but his mind would still be damaged even with my healing. He has almost no hope in him at all and I want to change that. I will give him my blessing which will keep hope with him while also allowing him to manipulate hope. This is my deal, for me to heal him and give him my blessing but this will almost assure his position as the child of the prophecy and in return I was hoping when I get stuffed in that pithos again he would be willing to help me." Hestia and Poseidon saw this as an offer that was beneficial to almost all of the parties involved and they quickly agreed to it.

"Wait, Eplis, what do you mean by returning to your jar again?" Hestia voiced her question in an urgent tone because this to her was her main duty beside keeping peace on Olympus, to protect the spirit of hope.

"As you both probably know your father and the other Titans are rising again. With this a new hope is returning to the Titans, not seen since the Golden Age. When Olympus finds out about the Titans rising a lot of hope will be lost on the side of Olympus and I will likely return to Othrys and be stuck in my pithos again, to be returned to Prometheus in a jar. Not a fate that I necessarily want. But as you both know hope chooses no sides but the Titans seem to believe if they chain me up hope will never leave them, it's funny how they are revered to be so wise yet believe they can put hope in a jar." As Elpis finished her explanation the expressions of fear were wiped off of Hestia and Poseidon faces but were replaced with ones of concern for her.

"Eplis, are you sure this is worth it? Presenting the boy with your blessing and taking him with basically infiltrating the Titans base." Poseidon's concern for his some became evident again when he was asking Eplis about this.

"He is being raised by you two is he not?" Questioned Elpis, "if he is I think he will be perfectly capable of dismantling Titans and finding one little pithos, think of it as a goal to shoot for. Now to help the boy, I will take some of my essence and take him out of his paralyzed state while granting him my powers in the process. He will likely pass out from the power intake but I can assure you he will live. As for the side effects his scars will likely remain but the mental effects are what really scare me, I have no clue what he will be like after this, only time will tell." Hestia and Poseidon nodded along to most of what Elpis said but the comment about his mental wellbeing scared them both slightly.

Hestia and Poseidon suddenly felt a very noticeable power spike as Elpis started to combine her essence into Perseus. They both then felt the true power of a primal being for a millisecond but it was a millisecond neither would forget. It felt like the true power of their father on steroids because of how powerful it was. Perseus's eyes that had not moved in hours finally moved... into the back of his head and Perseus's limp body fell onto the sand. Poseidon quickly ran over to his son to pick him up and teleport him to Hestia's palace.

"Will we be taking him to my place brother?"

"Yes I believe that would be the best place for him to rest and recover."

Hestia nodded to Poseidon and she flashed to her palace on Olympus. Poseidon looked at his son and Montauk and saw them as one. He sighed, refusing to get lost in his memories once more and turned to water vapor along with his son.

And there it was, the place that would be the origin of so much history, pain, happiness, confusion and love looked as though nothing out of the ordinary just happened.

Chapter 1 done!

I feel like this was an okay chapter and I hope I can keep it going.

One part of the story that I was wondering about was how Perseus's mind would be effected and I was hoping you guys could have some input. Would you like emo, crazy, intelligent, etc... Percy?

Thank you!
