Harry Norwood
Chapter 14
Harry told them everything that happened. About an hour later Professor Sprout and madam Bones came into the common room.
"How is Ginny? Will she be alright?" Harry asked immediately.
"She put up quite a fight but she is in good hands now. They have taken her to St. Mungos."Madam Bones explained.
"Professor Dumbledore has been notified and he would like to have a word with you tomorrow after breakfast." Sprout told him. "All of you." She added.
"Before you go back to bed. I would like to take a few memories from you Mr. Norwood if you are okay with it?" Harry nodded.
She pulled out some phials and drew her wand. She put the tip at the side of Harry's head.
"Just think of one of the Events." She told him. Harry nodded. A silver stand pulled out of his head. It looked like a mixture of liquid and mist. He wanted to touch it but knew that wouldn't be a good idea. She continued this a few times with different memories. She took each one a few times just to be safe. "Now one last request if that is alright with you?" she asked him. Harry nodded. "Could you show me to the entrance? I would like to position some of my aurors so no one can get to it." Harry agreed. Together with Professor Sprout they made their way to the bathroom. Luckily Myrtle wasn't there. Madam Bones thanked him and Harry and Professor Sprout walked back to the common room. Madam Bones immediately called some of her most skilled aurors to the scene.
After that they all returned to bed.
Harry could hardly sleep. He was nervous about his talk with Dumbledore. He knew he did nothing wrong but from what he has heard and read about the man…
He was the first one up. When he meet the girls in the common room he quickly told them the events. Susan was a bit upset at not seeing her aunt but understood. At breakfast he notified everyone else who had helped him and could stand witness.
Professor Sprout arrived just as they finished and lead them to the headmaster office.
It was a big circular room with a platform and a gallery. There were lots of books and all kinds of trinkets. Dumbledore was sitting behind his desk. Behind him was a strange red bird. Several professors were there as well as the Weasleys, Grant, madam Bones and some people dressed in dark robes that Harry couldn't identify. The kids stood uncertain and nervous in the middle.
"I have already heard the story from Professor Sprout but I would like to hear it form you myself Mr. Norwood." Dumbledore started. Harry looked to his head of house who gently nodded. So Harry told the story one more time. The audience gasped at all the right places. Some even looked shocked. Ron and Grant however had a mixture of anger and jealousy on their faces.
"This sounds like a very well thought out story but can you prove it Mr. Norwood." Dumbledore questioned him looking directly in his eyes. Harry looked at Madam Bones.
"He can Professor. He gave me a few memories as well as the object in question." she answered.
"May I see them Madam Bones?" he smiled at her and Harry saw a distinct twinkle in his eyes.
"You can see the memories of course but the book I gave to some experts to analyze." Dumbledores smile faltered for a second. He was clearly upset at not being able to see the book himself.
"Very well." He stood up and walked over to a cabinet. He pulled something out. It looked like a shallow stone or metal basin, into which runes and strange symbols were carved and precious stones were fitted. It was filled with a silvery substance that appears to be a cloudy liquid/gas. Madam Bones opened one of the phials and let the liquid run into the basin. All the adults touched the liquid and vanished. One of the strange man that came with Madam Bones stayed behind to watch over the children. Harry wasn't sure which memory they were watching but he had an idea. The kids stood there in total silence. Ron and Grant were glaring at Harry.
About five minutes later the adults returned.
"That was interesting. Mr Norwood what exactly were you doing in the library before talking to Mr. Scamander?" Dumbledore asked suspicious.
"What does it matter?" Harry asked. "I was just browsing." Dumbledore wanted to ask more question but luckily Madam Bones interrupted him.
"Shall we watch the next one?" she asked. The adults agreed and soon vanished again. Again it was very quiet in the room. This continued until the last two memories. So far they had seen how Harry talked to Rolf, Luna and Seamus, how they visited the toilet, the book about the founders and Harry's run in with Ginny and his observation on her. Harry knew what they would watch next. Now things would get interesting. The next two memories would be everything that happened yesterday. Myrtle, the book and Tom Riddles memories. He knew Madam Bones was keeping the memory of Diagon Alley for herself. At least at the moment. Harry was mostly curious to see Dumbledores reaction. The adults spent quite some time in those memories. When they returned they were all white in the face. McGonagall looked angrier then Harry had ever seen her.
"You knew? Albus how could you? You let an innocent man go to jail."
"Now now Minerva I was merely a teacher back then. I had no proof but I did keep my eyes on Tom" McGonagall wanted to say something but Madam Bones cut her off.
"Please Professors. If you don't have anymore questions for the children I think we should send them off." she asked the adults in the room. Dumbledore looked at Harry again wit interest.
"What made you go into the girls lavatory yesterday?" he asked looking directly into Harrys eyes. Harry felt uncomfortable and looked away.
"We heard Mr. Filch arguing and thought someone was getting into trouble. We were curious to see what was going on but found that he was alone and the floor covered in water. We figured it came from Myrtles toilet and went in to stop the water." Harry answered honest. The other nodded.
"What made you ask Mr. Scamander about creatures? Professor Flitwick asked.
"Well he started talking about it over breakfast so when I saw him again I just got curious."
"And Mr. Finnigan? How does he fit into the picture?"
"Well we heard that the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws were the ones to find Mrs. Norris. We had a class with the Gryffindores first after finding out possible creatures so I just had to ask them if they saw anything out of the ordinary. Seamus told us that his shoes were wet." The others nodded again. Dumbledore continued to look at him.
"Professor Dumbledore! I think this is enough. The children did their part and told us everything they know. We should really send them off." Madam Bones exclaimed. Several others in the room nodded. Eventually Dumbledore gave in with an upset nod.
"Before you leave," Professor Sprout addressed the children, " I would like to award each of you with 20 points. For your service to the school and protection of others" she smiled at them. The other professors, minus snape, nodded in agreement. Then they were excused from the room along side the Weasleys and Grant. He and Ron were more then happy to voice their anger at being set away.
Outside the headmaster office they turned to Harry and his friends.
"You just had to steal the show did you!" Ron exclaimed angry, spiting slightly into Harry's face.
"What show? All we did was tell the truth." Harry tried to stay calm but he didn't like having some so close to his face.
"We had the situation under control. And Grant could have easily done what you have alone."
"So you're saying he doesn't need you?" Daphne replied smug. Ron glared at her.
"No one asked you, you slimy snake."
That was a big mistake. Harry had no problems with someone insulting him but you'd better leave his friends alone. Plus he hated the whole rivalry thing between the houses. His study group was proof that they could get along. His blood started boiling and he was more than ready to teach Ron a thing or two but that wasn't needed anymore. As soon as Harry realised what Ron had said a fist connected with his face. They heard a crack and then screams.
Daphne had hid Ron square in the face. There were gasps of shock and disbelieve. The Weasley twins were snickering behind Ron's back while their older brother Percy shock his head in disbelieve. Harry had completely forgotten that they were there. Grant was just shocked. At what Harry didn't know but he looked clearly uncomfortable while Ron was talking.
Ron got ready to jump at Daphne but fortunately for everyone Percy pulled him away lecturing. Grant hurried after them. The twins turned to the group.
"Thank you for saving Ginny."one of them said.
"We owe you." The other added. They turned to Daphne. "Nice punch by the way."
"Ron really deserved that." The other one said before they walked off.
They spend the rest of the day either walking around school or hanging out in the great hall. No one was really in the mood for anything fun. The school apparently found out some of the things that went on last night. Ginny being taken away in the middle of the night caused for quite some rumours that only had Ron shouting by the end of the day causing him detention and the lose of 10 points. Also the fact that Aurors were now hanging out in myrtles bathroom caused quite a stir.
By the time dinner finished Madam Bones appeared in the great hall and walked straight over to the Hufflepuffs.
I know it was a bit short but I hope you still liked it
