I do not own Thomas the Tank/Thomas & Friends or I would have kept them in their models forms.

Edward's engine was old.

It clanked and banged a lot.

Sir Topham Hatt promised his engine would get repaired, but there was so much work to do he couldn't find the time to send him Crovan's Gate to get his train patched up, but he promised Edward to he would as soon as he could.

Until than Edward worked hard as usual and he got use to the clanking noise as he worked.

Today he was taking a train of five Cattle Trucks s over to Knapford having finished a delivery to a farm earlier near Brendam.

He rode along down the rails peacefully enjoying the views that went by, though he admits it would have been perfect if his engine's clanking and banging noises weren't happening constantly, but he pushes on ignoring it.

He soon starts coming pass another farm that was near Crosby and he saw the herd of cows that grazed upon the nearby field. He paid not much tension to them seeing most animals should used to the activity of trains on Sodor.

However, here he didn't know this was another new bunch cattle that brought and they weren't used to trains yet. Edward passing by whistling, steam and smoke coming his engine and now plus the banging noises it made spooked the herd badly. The cows ran around in a panic and during it some of them rammed the fence so hard it broke, now the free cows were scared and confused with no idea what was going on so some kept on running forward.

Edward felt a jerk from his train, but didn't think much of it as these Cattle Trucks were old too so maybe one or few of them banged hard against each other. So, he carried on along his run…not realising the runaway cows had rammed the last Cattle Truck & the Break Van causing a coupling to break stranding those two and he didn't hear the Guard calling to him as he rode away.

Edward never noticed his shortened train as he kept on going on his way to Knapford. However, he finally did notice when he did get there.

Gordon and Henry found it hilarious as they found the idea of cows damaging a train embarrassing for a train driver to deal with. James surprisingly said nothing as thinking of cows made him think back to that accident he had. Duck was polite about it and told Edward he will go fetch the Truck & Break Van for him when he has the time later. Toby, Thomas and Percy came to Edward's defence as had worked out in the countryside so they knew the troubles cows can cause and knew Edward couldn't have helped it.

But Gordon's and Henry's teasing went on for a few more days much to Edward's annoyance, but Edward being Edward didn't let it get to him and he knew Gordon & Henry will get their own one day.

And that day did eventually come.

Edward was at Wellsworth preparing to take a passenger train when Gordon came rushing past with the Long Green Express on his way back to Knapford.

"Mind the cows!" Gordon called out as he rode past and Edward rolled his eyes.

Gordon chuckled as he raced across the viaduct and headed to the bridge outside Crosby, but as he drew closer to the bridge he could see something on the bridge. He couldn't make it out at first so he slowed his train down and leaned out of the cab to get a better look. "Oh, it's just a cow. Shoo! Shoo!" He called out as the train slowly came onto the bridge, but the cow didn't move so he was forced to stop Number 4 altogether and he hopped out of the train. "Bloody thing, move already I job to do!" He shouted at the animal and marched towards it, but he soon found himself running back into his cab with the cow hot on his heels.

"Mad beast!" He called out as he saw the cow go back onto the bridge and moo loudly in a strange way. Gordon sighed annoyed as he had no idea what to do and the passengers did find it hilarious that big proud Gordon was scared.

Soon not long after Gordon could see Number 3 coming up the track with the Long Red Express. "Oh no Henry…"

Henry saw the sight and laughed as he brought the train to a close. "What's wrong Gordon? Scared of a cow?" He laughed and hopped out his train's cab before walking towards the cow. "I'll sort this out. Be off you! Be off!"

"Henry I would be care…" Gordon started, but stopped when he saw Henry now running back to his train being chased by the cow. "Ful…"

Henry back in Number 3's cab put his train into reverse and headed all the way back to Crosby. Once there he told the Stationmaster about the cow on the line and how it wouldn't move out of the way of him or Gordon.

"That must be Bluebell." The Stationmaster said. "She must be looking for her calf, who is here after we found it has stowed away in the Cattle Truck. Duck can bring Bluebell's calf to her."

Duck who was nearby after fetching the broken away Cattle Truck & Break Van that took longer to get seeing the herd was all over the place on that line and they all have to be rounded up first before he could get.

Hence why it was done days later.

Now he was hooked back up to small train again and headed to the bridge, but he did admit it was funny to see the two big train drivers be so scared. Especially after how much they teased Edward about cows.

He soon came to the bridge and where Bluebell's farmer had also arrived there too. Soon both of them reunited Bluebell with her calf and it was a very nice sight to see a mother reunited with her baby. Bluebell's Farmer thanked Duck before leading his cow & her baby away back to the farm and trains could resume their runs now, but both Gordon and Henry were embarrassed greatly.

"Not a word…keep it dark."

But no matter how hard they tried to keep the story from spreading, everyone soon heard of how one cow stopped the two Express drivers and had them scared.

"Well, well, well, the two big train drivers afraid of one cow." Edward said smugly later on as all the drivers were back at the bunkhouse and both big men were embarrassed as Thomas, Percy and James were too busy laughing to say something. Even both Toby and Duck had amused looks on their faces as they watched the scene.

"Afraid?! Nonsense!" Gordon exclaimed blushing hard.

"We didn't one the poor thing to hurt herself by ramming our trains!" Henry exclaimed blushing embarrassed too.

"You see what we mean our dear Edward?" Gordon said trying to sound wise and calm, but Edward simply smirked. "Yes Gordon I do."

Both Gordon and Henry knew that Edward saw too well.

Hope you all enjoyed.
