I do not own Thomas the Tank/Thomas & Friends or I would have kept them in their models forms.
Life on Sodor was busy as usual as the drivers went on with their jobs and today would be no different is what Edward thought as he started his day.
Edward groaned as stretched his limbs as he waited for Number 2 to warm up.
"Morning Edward." Thomas called out as he came over him as he waited for his own engine to warm up. "What you got to do today?" He asked curious what his co-worker/friend had today.
"Heading to Crock's Scrapyard to pickup some scrap to take to Peel Godred." Edward answered the younger train driver's question.
"Oh, good I was going to say Number 2 wasn't old that she needed to be scrapped." Thomas joked and Edward chuckled as playfully shove Thomas away before he saw his engine was good to go. "Catch you later Thomas." He said before driving off and Thomas waves as he left before going to his own engine.
Later that day Edward was pulling up to Crock's Scrapyard with some empty Trucks to be filled with scrap for Peel Godred.
"Got quite a bit here for ya Edward, will try to be done soon as possible." A workman said to the driver who nods to them before deciding to walk around the place to pass the time and mostly curious in what he could find.
As he was walking around he came upon a scene that had his full attention.
He saw a young man with short black hair wearing a farmer's attire and he looked dejected as he sat near a steam powered Traction Engine.
Edward came over to see him to see what the problem was, but he had a good idea what was going on.
"Hello there, I am Edward, may ask what the problem is?" He asked approaching the young man who looked up at him as he came over. "I'm Trevor…my Traction Engine here is getting scrapped next week…"
"That's horrible, why is that?" Edward asked feeling sorry for the young man who sighed sadly. "My old boss said he didn't it anymore and sold it to the scrapyard here than I lost my job not long after… He said she was old fashion and not needed…"
"People say my engine is old fashion, but she can still do her job just fine. Such nonsense for him to think that way." Edward said patting the young man on the shoulder trying to cheer him up and Trevor did smile a bit. "All she needs is some paint and polish than she will be good as new."
Edward nods before seeing it was time go as his train was ready and he waved goodbye to Trevor before headed off. However, he couldn't stop thinking about Trevor and his plight as he headed to Wellsworth and tried to think of ways to help him, but nothing came to mind as everyone he knew had no need for a Traction Engine.
However, the answer came to view as he pulled up to Wellsworth and he beat himself up for not thinking it before. There on the platform was the Vicar of Wellsworth; Reverend Charles Laxey. He was a good friend of Edward as he was the one who was going to marry him and Lady before her disappearance, but has remained a good friend of Edward.
"Hello Edward, you seem down, what's the problem my friend?" He asked the train driver who explains the situation of Edward and he knew the Vicar needed someone to help take care of orchid, he hoped Trevor would be that.
"And that is why I think you should see him and see if he could be of use for you." Edward said hoping his friend would do that. Charles nods as he thought about it before answering. "We will see Edward. We will see."
Later that day the manager of the scrapyard told Trevor the Vicar was coming to see him and his Engine. Trevor excited to hear this cleaned up his engine with polish and gave it a new paint while making sure everything was working fine on it.
Soon Charles arrived and had Trevor show him what his Traction Engine could do. Edward drove around the scrapyard showing all his engine could do and while doing this he hoped that his beloved engine would be saved.
Later on, his answer came as Charles came up to him waving a receipt. "I got her cheap Trevor, she's saved. Bring her to the orchid as you I will have shed and house ready for you and your engine. You will start work once you are ready." He smiled at his new employee and Trevor was already excited for his future.
From that day forward he loved his new job of working at the orchid and he worked hard while making sure to take time to talk to Edward whenever he dropped by as without Edward he wouldn't have a job while his beloved engine would be scrapped.
He loved when the parties the orchid had as he would attached a wagon to the back of his engine and would give children rides all around the orchid.
He was happy as life was good now as his engine was saved from scrap.
Hope you all enjoyed.
