So sorry for the lateness with this fic, my computer's graphics card need replacing and that wasn't cheap so I had to save up to get that, car needed some repairs done to it so that was more money I had to save up and focus on
And now I am in the process of moving houses so my life has just been nonstop busy and stressful so that is why I been so quiet with this fic
But now I am back let's back to it!
I do not own Thomas the Tank/Thomas & Friends or I would have kept them in their models forms.
Ever since the Fraquhar branchline was closed down for repairs Percy was sent to Brendam Docks to work there to help deal with increase work there. Around the same time Duck was also sent there too as Edward was busy handling his branchline so he couldn't help with the docks work.
Both drivers worked very hard and got so much work done, but it was tiring and exhausting work which where they didn't get enough time to rest up before the next lot of work came about.
However, recently they have been given the chance to finally relax and rest up, which was now as they were sitting upon their engines looking out upon the sea watching quite a lot of boats upon the open water while talking about stuff enjoying a much-needed snack time.
"And that was my work back in England before I moved here and started working here." Duck said talking about his previous work life before working here at North-Western Railway while he sipped his cup of coffee.
"Sounds interesting, I never been to England, closest I ever been there was Vicarstown, but seeing how many Diesel drivers are there now these days I do not want go there very much." Percy said eating a sandwich as he looked to the sky and saw Harold's helicopter flying nearby.
"I do not blame you there, ever since Diesel I am in no hurry of meeting another Diesel driver anytime soon." Duck said as he sipped his coffee before he looked up and saw Harold too who was now landing on a floating pad not far in front of them.
"Good morning chaps!" Harold called as he walked on a little platoon bridge that was connect from the pad to the pier. Both drivers nod and wave to him as Percy had told the other drivers that Harold was a alright guy to befriend, he mostly says things about trains in a joking way and not a insulting way.
"There goes the good view." Duck joked as he hops off his engine as Harold came over to them to talk while they had time to kill. "What you been up to today?"
"Mostly doing patrols over the Regatta event going on." Harold said accepting a spare sandwich Duck handed to him as he watched over the event going on.
"What's that?" Percy asked curiously as he never heard of that before, though he wasn't really into sea related events or professions, trains was all that matter to him, but was still interested to learn new things.
"Basically, a race that happens every so often where different fishermen pretty much try to show off their boats." Harold said shrugging before finishing his sandwich. "Well, I got to get back to patrol, see you chaps around." He said while saluting to the two drivers who both wave at him as he got back to his helicopter and took off to continue on with his patrol for the day. Duck watched on than watched the Regatta again and got very interested in it which was something he talked about for the rest of the day.
He chatted about it so much during the day Percy at first was fine with it, but now was getting really annoyed by it and around afternoon was when he decided he had enough of it.
"I will tell you what Duck I really don't care about boats as trains is all that matters to me and I wouldn't change that for anything." Percy said to Duck scowling as they both waited at the station there as they were waiting for next line of work to come up. Duck pouted a bit as he didn't want to upset Percy with his interested in the Regatta, boats and sea, but he now admits he might have gone a bit over the top with his interest.
He was going to apologize to him when suddenly the sound of the alarm went off and both drivers looked up quickly at the sound with serious looks as they knew something was wrong if the alarm was going off. The Brendam's Stationmaster came running up to them and they could tell he was in a hurry further proving that something pretty serious was happening.
"Duck a man has broken his leg during the Regata event after their boat capsized after his boat crashed with another boat, Harold is bringing him to shore but is needed to help others that were caught in the accident. You're needed to get him to Bertie who will be waiting at Wellsworth for you. Percy you're on standby just in case." The Stationmaster informed the two engine drivers who both nod and Duck jumps into Number 8 before heading over to the pier.
As soon as Duck got to the pier he saw Harold landing at the same before he rushed out of his helicopter to help the man towards Duck. Duck came over to them to help the man to his engine and he saw the man's leg was bandaged up which he was glad to see no blood on meaning the bone didn't puncture the skin, but still, he will be quick to get him to him Bertie and be careful as he drives.
Once he got the man inside Number 8 and made sure he was comfortable, he gave Harold a quick wave, as he was off back to the crash, Duck soon was off to get the man to Bertie. During the ride he constantly kept checking on the man to make sure he was okay and not in too much pain.
Soon he was at Wellsworth and he saw Bertie pull up right as he did before helping the man out of Number 8 than to Bertie's bus.
"Thanks Duck, I got it from here." Bertie said quickly and Duck nods at that before watching Bertie drive away from the injured man and Duck was glad to know later than the man was going to make a full recovery.
Later on, at night before Percy and Duck both stared out across the water again as they relaxed on their respective engines after a hard day's work as all of Brendam Docks was in chaos due to the crash. Luckily no one else was injured and from what they heard the man was going to make a fully recover after his surgery which was good news to hear.
"Well never expected to deal with this chaotic event while working back on the Fraquhar branchline," Percy said as he laid on his back on Number 6 hands behind his head as he stared up at the night sky. "We don't get many boats coming into Old Harbour only like two or three a day just dropping off or taking goods."
"Makes sense seeing Brendam is the second largest harbour right behind Knapford on Sodor, so many more boats and more chance of accidents of happening." Duck said as sat on Number 8 while enjoying one last coffee for today and he stared out across the water watching the last boats of the Regata pull in for now. He soon heard whirling and looked up where he saw Harold flying above them, he was confused on why Harold was hovering above them before seeing something drop out of Harold's flying machine before he flew off.
A sheet of cloth landed at Duck's feet confusing him more before he picks it up and looks at it. He smiled when he was it was a flag that especially made just for him and he saw a message with it which was pretty much the crew of the boat that injured man was from thanking Duck for getting him to help. They said he was a honourary member of their crew which just made Duck smiled more.
Ever since that day Duck would talk about the sea even more which Percy now just listens on amused as he could see his friend really does enjoy it all and he should support that.
He just wishes he just stop trying to get Percy to go on a boat ride, he is perfectly happy standing on dry land for now.
I hope you all enjoyed.
