I do not own Thomas the Tank/Thomas & Friends or I would have kept them in their models forms.
Duck and Percy worked very hard at Brendam Docks as they took Goods & Passenger Trains all around the Docks getting them ready for other things. Both were determined to not fail Sir Topham Hatt for the jobs they were assigned at one of the biggest and busiest harbours on Sodor.
At the start Edward would give a hand, but as the Northwestern Railway became more well-known and more people use the railways more need of Passenger Trains was needed so Edward became more busy with that, leaving Percy and Duck to handle the work at the Docks on their own.
Overtime the big workload was clearly starting to get to both tank engine drivers who were exhausted by the end of the day, but luckily for them Sir Topham Hatt had noticed too.
"Percy, Duck I had been aware of you two's hardwork and also the load of work that has been placed on you two. I am proud of you two handling it well, but I feel you deserve some help." He explained to both his employees who were both thrilled by the news.
"Thank you sir, we don't mind the hard work load, but we would certainly appreciate any extra help." Percy said happy to hear the news that was explained to them. Duck nods in agreement as even he admits the work load's stress is starting to get to him too and just like Percy he was happy to get some help.
However, the next day their happiness and excitement for help was shattered.
"Good morning." The raspy oily voice of Diesel sounded as he had his usual grin and both Percy & Duck glared intensely at the train driver that had caused so much grief and trouble in the past.
"What the bloody hell are you doing here?" Duck asked venomously as the memories of the trouble he especially went through came flooding back through his mind, each memory making him want to punch Diesel again, but this time even harder.
"Your good ol Sir Topham Hatt asked me to help out here after telling me of your two's plight. So, I have come with my superior engine to aid in shunting things from here to there." Diesel said grinning and Duck growled a bit, but Percy puts a restraining hand on Duck's arm though he too was trying to restrain himself as well.
Than so it was as Diesel begun working around all over Brendam Docks and was hard at work, but not careful with some of his trains. He still threw his usual remarks about Diesels being superior to Steam Engines which just made Percy and Duck even more furious to the point they have demanded to speak with Sir Topham Hatt.
"We refuse to work while Diesel is here!" Percy exclaims as he and Duck stood in their boss's office back at Knapford where Sir Topham Hatt sat calmly in his chair listening to the two's complaints. He honestly expected this and he doesn't blame them for being this hot & bothered, especially Duck.
"You remember what happened when that arse was here." Duck said seriously as again the bad memories came flooding back to him and he honestly felt betrayed that Sir Topham Hatt brought him back here.
Sir Topham Hatt let out a deep sigh before explaining the situation to the them in hopes of calming them down. "I do remember Duck and honestly if I had another choice for someone to help you two out I would have taken it, you know that. I chose Diesel because there was no one else, but it is only temporally as I am trying to look for more Steam Engines Drivers to come work here, but you two know how hard that is with the rise of Diesel power. I give you my word once I find that someone Diesel will be gone and you two will be rid of him, for now I need you two to help to help you. Can you two do that please?" He said explaining the best he could and was glad that both his employees saw reason as they didn't push the subject more, they might not like but they know it is just the hand they and their boss have been dealt with so they just got to deal with for now.
So, for the next few days the two Green Tank Engine drivers did their best to tolerate Diesel while they worked hard around Brendam, but it was hard as there was times Diesel's roughness caused spilled cargo or damaged goods. Than Duck and Percy would have to deal with the mess afterwards, and sometimes complaints as well, which just slowed everything down greatly making the already stressed workload even more stressful as they had to catch up.
Than there was the moment where Diesel didn't set his engine's brakes on properly and it smacked into Number 6 while Percy was getting ready for more work, luckily he didn't hurt by it, but it took Duck to pull Percy back when he tried to lunge for the Diesel engine driver.
The final straw came when Diesel was shunting some wagons filled with precious China Clay and he bragged loudly to a nearby Duck about his engine's strength, but he was so focused on that he didn't see he had put extra strength into the shunting process. So, when the trucks reached the buffers they meant to stop at they instead ploughed right through the buffers and fell into the water in front below leaving Diesel paralysed with shock of what happened and dread of what Sir Topham Hatt will do once he hears about this.
Once Sir Topham Hatt did hear about this his reaction was expected and Disel found himself sulking away from the railway again. Duck and Percy were now on their own again with the big workload, but they weren't upset they were instead happy.
Because now they don't have to deal with Diesel and work in peace.
Moved into my new place and the internet wasn't set up so this chapter was completed, but couldn't upload it until the internet was set up.
Also, I am aware of the recent leaks of the official maps from the model season that came out recently, but I am choosing to ignore that layout as I prefer the one Tugs used
I hope you all enjoyed
