"The hard way it is. Get her," the mystery man commanded. Instantly, Luciana was surrounded. She dropped into a fighting stance, legs widened and arms held out.
"This night is sooo not my night," she grimaced.
The goons all began attacking her at once. Swinging around, she grabbed a man and used him to bowl a couple others over.
"So," she grunted, dodging another blow and returning it. "I'm guessing you have a grudge against Endeavor?"
"How astute of you." One man spat.
"How lovely of you to attack an innocent civilian." She dodged a quirk. She couldn't use hers yet, but she had to keep dodging, occasionally attacking back.
"Tonight really does suck." She spat hatefully as she threw another man.
"Aw, don't be sad. You're so smart and strong to have figured out what was going on so fast." The mystery man cooed.
A knife tore her sleeve, leaving a shallow cut on her upper arm. "I'd rather not be dealing with idiots," she hissed. She felt the blood running down her arm. She flipped someone over her shoulder and smashed them into someone else. Her arm was burning.
Luciana continued to fight, but for every opponent she took out, more appeared.
Her right arm was burning from the cut. There must have been something on the blade. Snapping out her foot, she tripped another one. She punched the next one before her arm simply fell limp.
"Shit," she hissed. Taking a deep breath, she secured the limp arm to her chest using her quirk while still fighting.
She dodged another blade, leaping to the side. When she righted herself, the world was spinning.
"Now it's my turn!" A woman exclaimed from above her. Luciana felt a weight drop onto her back and a cloth was pressed to her mouth and nose. Wisely, the injured woman held her breath and tried to buck the other woman off.
Moments later, she went limp, pretending to be unconscious from whatever was on that cloth.
"Enji!" Ichigo yelled as he banged on the door to said man's apartment. "Enji!"
"What?!" The redhead growled when the door opened.
"Check your phone and you'd know why. Luciana is missing. She never showed up for work and I know she left for it," the pinkette yelled. "I don't know what's going on, but I know this isn't her doing."
"Why?" The hero asked, searching for his phone.
"She'd never abandon Matt. Or you. And she would not send the message she did. I've been texting you all morning."
"Hang on," the bigger man grumbled as he checked his phone. There were almost a hundred notifications from Ichigo, and one from Luciana. Normally there'd be at least two. A good night and a good morning text. He opened it.
Babe: "Trouble"
"Fuck. I knew I should have told her about the note."
"What note?" Ichigo looked at him darkly.
"I received a threatening note. It wasn't directed at me so I simply put it in the file. It said, 'Blue's such a nice color. Maybe we should dye it red' or something like that. I should have known they were talking about Luciana." His hair and shoulders lit themselves on fire as he clenched his fists.
"Something happened to her because she's dating you. And you didn't expect this?" Ichigo's pink eyes were glowing.
"I thought I had done a good job of hiding her from the public… Only my closest friends knew about her. But that whore Paloma must have said something." He mused aloud. "I'm certain she's been kidnapped and I'll receive a demand sooner or later."
"How can you be so calm!" The smaller man was enraged, ready to attack the flaming hero.
"How can you not see what's going on?" The man retorted, his flames flaring. He took a deep breath and the flames lowered. "We need to go to the police."
"Yes… but I don't have any recent pictures of her…"
"I do." Enji pulled up a picture of her laughing as she roasted marshmallows on his flaming hair. "It's from the date we went on. We went to a park for a picnic at four in the morning. She was so excited."
Ichigo made a face. "Let's just go."
His phone dinged. "Wait, let me check that." It was a video from an unknown number.
"Hello. I'm certain you're wondering what happened to your precious girlfriend." A man, his voice garbled, spoke from the darkness. "Endeavor, this is the first of many things we'll show you."
A light flipped on revealing a man covered from head to toe in black material. "Take a good look at this. After all, this may be the last time you see her." He chuckled cruelly, the garbled sound hurting the ears of the two men watching. The kidnapper stepped aside to reveal an unconscious Luciana, bound and gagged. "I really don't care if you involve the police. I'm not going to make any demands of you either. Just know this. I have control of your life and you will not disobey me. If you do…" he trailed off, holding a knife to the bound woman's throat. Slowly, the knife dragged across her throat, leaving a bright red line. Some blood oozed out of the shallow cut, seeping into her white shirt.
"That's all for today. I'll see you next time. Maybe when she wakes up." The video ended. Enji was breathing hard, the flames scattered across his back flaring and dying down rapidly.
"We'll get her back, safe and sound. Luciana is strong and smart. She'll be fine." Ichigo shakily said, trying to reassure himself and his flaming companion.
"Let's go," growled the hero, gritting his teeth. "We're going to the police." He wordlessly led the shorter man out to his car.
"Wow, this is so plain and not like you." Ichigo referred to the car, trying to lighten the mood.
"It's specially made so I can fit in it, and I can't ruin it." Enji replied simply. "Besides, I would prefer no one know it's me or where I live."
"True… that didn't work out too well though." The two men climbed in and Enji started the vehicle. "I mean… nevermind."
"Luciana was kidnapped. And it's my fault." They peeled out of the parking lot onto the street, driving recklessly towards the police station.
"Oh god, don't kill us!" Ichigo shrieked as they swerved dangerously around a corner. "We can't help Luciana if we die!" They careened past another car, tires squealing.
Enji didn't reply as they raced through a yellow light before whipping into the parking lot in front of the police station. Ichigo was panting, holding onto anything he could. "We're alive." Enji pointed out flatly as he climbed out of the car. "I just need new tires now."
A scream ripped from the car. The pinkette threw the door open and flew out. He looked absolutely terrified. "L-Luciana would make an awful joke right now." He stammered. "God, that was terrifying." Shakily, he stood.
"Sorry," the redhead apologized as he locked his car. They began to hurry inside. A man stepped out to greet them.
"Endeavor, what brings you to the police station so recklessly?" He demanded. Even not in his hero suit with flames extinguished, Enji was recognizable.
"I'll tell you when we are safe from prying eyes." The big hero growled. The police officer nodded, leading them inside.
Once they were seated in the large office of the police chief, the man asked again, "I'll ask again. What brought you to the police station, especially driving so recklessly?"
"A kidnapping."
"Come inside."
