"Hi, I'm Duina Luciana. I'm here as Todoroki Enji's emergency contact." Luciana told the receptionist behind the desk.

"Oh, just go to the waiting room. Dr. Mai is waiting to talk to you in there." The older lady directed.

"Thank you!" She said and hurried away. It was after ten and she looked crazy at this point, so it was a happy shock the lady had just told her what she needed to know immediately.

She stepped into the separated room. It was empty save for one man dressed like a doctor.

"Ah, Duina-san, I presume?" He asked. "I am Dr. Mai Ti. I'm glad you're here. Walk with me." He gestured towards a set of doors.

"I suppose." She followed as he began walking.

"You are in an interesting situation. Todoroki-san has no living relatives and you are his only emergency contact. He has not signed anything giving you the power to make any medical decisions, but legally, you have that power as his only emergency contact. You must be aware of this." He stopped in front of a closed door. "Well, before we go inside, let me tell you what his injuries are. He has extensive, but minor acid burns covering his face and torso. Two of his ribs are cracked, one is broken, and his right arm is broken. On top of that, he received a head injury. Recovery Girl prevented any scarring and brain damage, but he's going to be in a light coma for a couple of days. He won't be able to work as a hero for the next couple of months."

"He'll be ok though?" Luciana asked calmly.

"Yes, he'll be fine," he reassured her. "You can go in. Just make sure you don't hurt him." He opened the door for her.

"Thank you." She smiled wearily and stepped inside.

"Have a good night." He told her and shut the door behind him.

With the doctor gone, Luciana turned to Enji. The tears that had been threatening since she had first been called finally began to fall. Enji, the strong and independent hero, was covered in bandages and had a cast on his right arm. His beautiful blue eyes were closed.

"Why weren't you careful?" She moved to the left side of his bed and sat down. She laced her fingers through his without moving his arm. An IV was sticking out of his wrist and wires were attached to his chest.

"Please be okay?" She begged him. Her watch had begun.

"Come on…" Redcat whined. "I just want to go home!" She was surrounded by a bunch of Mizo thugs and there were heroes here too.

"Not happening', bitch," one of the thugs told her.

"Shut the fuck up, you quirkless shit!" Another one insulted her. She had been on her way back from a job when a group of Mizo thugs had attacked her. Heroes were already nearby because of their recent history with crowds. They were in the full-on red light district and it was busy as hell this time of night.

"You really think that's an insult if I can beat you pieces of trash up without one? I don't even need anything but my fists." She retorted as she darted in and clocked the one that tried to insult her.

"Guttersnipes. All of you." She grumbled and grabbed and tossed him into others. There were about ten around her now, just watching and taking turns trying to fight her. The heroes were just standing there and watching.

"What did you call me?" A man rushed her. She kicked him in the nuts.

"Ooh, jackpot, right?" She asked sardonically. "I'm done here. You lazy assholes won't even move." She spat contemptuously and pulled a taser out. It barely took her a minute to incapacitate all the gang members and flee. The heroes were rushing to find her and collect the gangsters now that they were incapacitated.

"Lazy asses." She grumbled and fled using the crowds to her advantage. It wasn't long before she was away from that area and had her mask stowed with the cash. She strode right by her apartment complex and continued along the sidewalks until she hit the fancy restaurants. She dodged into the alleys and approached the back door of a specific one. She knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" A gruff voice asked from the other side.

"Duina client. I've got the payment." Luciana sighed.

The door opened inward. "Get in here." The man commanded. "Boss is waiting for you."

"Great," she said sarcastically and walked towards the office. She knocked on the door before opening it.

"Ah! Duina, I see you've brought your payment for this month," a slick-looking businessman with blond hair said.

"Hang on a moment, please," she told him politely and pulled her backpack off her shoulder. "May I?"

"Of course." He nodded.

She reached inside and pulled out two cloth sacks. "You see, I've brought this month and next months payments. You said you accept advance payments last time," she started. "If you would be so kind as to accept this two-month payment. I have some very important business next month and would rather make sure I deliver the money on time." Her voice was honey sweet without a trace of poison.

"How wise of you, child." The man smiled. "I will accept the second payment for the next month as well. I trust you brought the interest as well?"

"Of course." She handed off the two sacks to a slim man standing near the only door. He walked it to another man who immediately began counting it into a safe. The two bags were returned to her. She stuffed them back into her bag while waiting for the money to be counted.

"It's all clean and she included interest, boss." The man counting the money told the boss and locked the safe. "It's also her final payment."

"Good. You may go, Duina." He dismissed. "I hope to see you again."

"Thank you, A-sama." She bowed her head and exited the room. With a sigh of relief, she walked to the back door and held her hands out.

"Clear." The same man from before opened the door and let her out before slamming it shut.

The woman walked halfway back to her before she relaxed even the slightest. Her monthly payments on the debt her parents racked up in the time after Thom's death and theirs was taken care of finally.

"Goddamnit." She ran a hand down her face. She'd rather be sitting with Enji or spending time with Matt than anything else. It was too bad Matt was asleep and visiting hours were over for the hospital. It had been a whole week and there was no sign of Enji recovering yet.

"What are you doing coming from over here?" Mishi's voice surprised her.

She hid it and pretended carelessness. "I had some business to take care of before I went home for the night."

"Hopefully not any illegal business." The hero teased.

"Not unless you count life illegal." She shot back. "Are you done with your patrol?"

"No. I'm not, I just figured I'd ask you why you're walking past my apartment complex so late," he snarked.

"Figures. Is Pake already awake?"

"You know it."

"Of course." She smiled at her friend. They walked in silence for a couple more minutes.

"I had better get going back." The winged man turned to go back. "Night."

"Night. Keep an eye on buffoon." She called over her shoulder before he took off into the air.

With a deep breath, Luciana calmed her racing heart. She had almost attacked her friend! She was way too high strung.

Since she had accidentally slept in the hospital with Enji, she'd been feeling better, but with the Mizo gang coming after Redcat again and heroes being bitches she was getting really frustrated. She walked into her apartment building and stared at the elevator.

"I miss you, Enji. When are you going to wake up? Better yet, why did you stop talking to me before this?" Tears gathered in her eyes. Every time she turned around, that stupid Izo bitch was with Enji and bothering her. He claimed he was best friends with Enji, but she hated him. He reminded her of the Mizo family, who were the core of the gang named after them. They all had quirks like that. She knew because she had worked for them as Redcat for a while to get some dirt on them and sell the whole thing to the police. She got paid in the justice of knowing hundreds of young lives were saved from a horrible life. Her grudge was still standing to this day, especially after Titanium Manium.

She sighed and began to climb the stairs quickly. It took her awhile to get to her floor. When she got inside her home, she quickly put away her backpack and mask, showered, made breakfast, prepared Matt's bento, and set the table. Matt came out of the shower just as she finished setting the table.

"I'm going to go see Enji after breakfast," Luciana told Matt between bites.

"I see him after school when I get you. You fall asleep on him." Matt agreed, speaking between bites like her.

"Do you want me to walk you?"

"Yes, please."

"Ok."

Together, they cleaned up and walked out the door.
