BaW Chapter 22
TUI Chap 9- Slide Whistles Up To You
Hisoka.
He's been on Illumi's mind more often than Illumi would like to admit. It's nearly embarrassing.
A nearby student watched Illumi beat out a small rhythm on the desk's surface without thought. The teen could see that Illumi was lost in thought, as Illumi wouldn't usually display such music expression during school on purpose.
Illumi didn't want to think about what it meant now that he was feeling like this- like they were about to reach a new fever pitch as the days got closer to the date that sealed their futures. The thought of never seeing Hisoka again made something want to both break and fortify at the same time inside of Illumi.
Illumi didn't want to think about what it meant being so happy at the thought of seeing Hisoka again, and didn't want to think about about what it meant being so disturbed by the thought of saying goodbye.
Illumi got up to leave the classroom as the bell rang, trying not to race to where Hisoka would be waiting for him by the lockers. Ilumi arrived to see Hisoka leaning against the lockers and focused on the phone in front of him. Illumi stood patiently in front of the colorful man for 2 seconds before he let out a huff of impatience.
"Hello, Illumi." Hisoka hummed with amusement in his reply, but his view was still on his phone. Illumi's eyes narrowed as his lips scrunched to one side. Does Hisoka not understand? They had precious little time left here together, did he not feel the urgency to just… indulge in each other?
"Ah…!" Illumi sighed "Were you standing here? I didn't notice." Illumi said in a fit of childishness.
"No?" Hisoka asked with a prompt in his voice for Illumi to keep going.
"With your face in your phone like this." Illumi continued. Hisoka smirked and pocketed his phone, looking up at Illumi. The look on Hisoka's face read, 'Happy Now?'
Wow, Illumi thought as he felt that daily itch in him rise up again. Hisoka was really infuriating. How could he like someone like this so much? Maybe Illumi needs to remind Hisoka of the situation.
"Aw, baby, how you doing? You know I'm gonna cut right to the chase, huh? Some people were made… But me, myself? I like to think that I was created… " Illumi said, poking Hisoka's chest, and Hisoka straightened up.
Who was Illumi kidding? When he thinks about Hisoka for too long, he feels the only way to expel all that energy and express himself was to start dancing and singing. Thinking about Hisoka made Ilumi's thoughts roll, music inspiration come forth, beats and harmony to flood his , Illumi already committed to trying to expel all his emotions before graduation.
"For a special purpose, You know? What's more special than YOU? You feel me? " Illumi said musically. Hisoka rolled his eyes but decided he should let Illumi be, belt this out, and head to class. But as fortunate as he was everyday, Illumi followed as usual. At least it was free musical accompaniment for Hisoka.
"It's on, baby let's get lost, You don't need to call in to work 'cause you're the boss… For real, want you to show me how you feel. I consider myself lucky, that's a big deal! Why? Well, you got the key to my heart, But you ain't gonna need it. I'd rather you open up my body~ And show me secrets you didn't know was inside! No need for me to lie! " Illumi said, dancing around Hisoka and nearly impairing his path forward with miming moves that matched his words. Not that it interfered with many others. The other students quickly made their way and worked around Illumi's flash dance numbers that they've grown accustomed to in the past couple of weeks. It was easy enough for Illumi to indulge in sudden song and dance when he was around Hisoka.
"It's too big! It's too wide (wide)! It's too strong (strong)! It won't fit (fit)! It's too much (much), It's too tough (tough)! He talk like this 'cause he can back it up~ ," Illumi sang, lounging his body across surfaces along with the stretched notes in the songs, putting his model-like limbs to full use. No school property was safe from being used as a prop. The inspiration that struck Illumi when he wanted to sing around Hisoka could only be solved by letting it out and it's not like Illumi minded, he already liked Hisoka this much. Wow, he couldn't sound more like Killu even if he tried. How immature. Illumi rounded a corner along with Hisoka into a hallway to strut his vocals and dance moves, laced in arrogance.
"He got a big ego! Such a huge ego! I love his big ego, It's too much! He walk like this 'cause he can back it up!" Illumi sang as he pointed at Hisoka's retreating back, who was attempting to escape to the second story level. Hisoka barely bit back a shout at Illumi descending the stairs suddenly, cutting off his escape. Wasn't Illumi just behind him?
"How did you-?" Hisoka started, but Ilumi just did a hair flip to continue singing, cutting him off.
"Usually I'm humble, Right now, I don't choose! You can leave with me, Or, you could have the blues! Some call it arrogant, I call it confidence~ " Illumi struck a pose, half hanging off the stair railing and Hisoka bit his lip, turning away and biting back a smile. Hisoka was stuck between being super annoyed or just commending Illumi for the big show. After all, it was all for his attention. Also, a deserved lesson for trying to give his spoiled Illu anything less than his full attention.
"You decide when you find out what I'm working with! Damn, I know I'm killing you with them legs, Better yet, them thighs? Matter of fact it's my smile, or maybe my eyes? " Illumi intersected Hisoka at a fourway to dance to the lyrics, showcasing his legs in a split before stretching up to frame his face with his hands. Hisoka couldn't hold back his laughter, taking Illumi's hand to bring him closer to his person. " Boy, you're a sight to see, Kinda something like me… " Illumi sang coyly. He pulled away from Hisoka to continue his terror down the hallways, and was pleased when he noticed Hisoka close behind. Attentive, as it should be.
"It's too big! It's too wide, It's too strong, It won't fit! It's too much, It's too tough! I talk like this 'cause I can back it up! I got a big ego, Such a huge ego, But, he loves my big ego! It's too much, I walk like this 'cause I can back it up! " Illumi sang, doing some dances around Hisoka as Hisoka enjoyed the show, amused, pulling Illumi to and fro during his posing dance moves.
"He talk like this 'cause he can back it up, He got a big ego! Such a huge ego... such a huge ego! But, I love his big ego, It's too much! He walk like this 'cause he can back it up… " Illumi ducked his head between his legs and back up to flip his hair back, snaking down the hall, still terrorizing students just trying to get to class. Hisoka laughed at their distressed and inconvenienced faces.
"Aren't you going to be late, or something, Illu?" Hisoka asked, taking Illumi's hand and pulling away from the masses, deciding to take pity on the lower classmen. His own class was closeby. Illumi looked back at Hisoka but kept singing. But Hisoka could hear this was a song winding down anyway. Illumi started making his way to class, finally indicating he won't follow Hisoka again, so Hisoka went to class too.
"Ego so big you must admit, I got every reason to feel like I'm that bit !" Illumi said, harassing a few more people along the way, ducking his head in and out of people's faces with flair and arrogance. He quickly spun into his class and landed on the piano bench situated at the front of his perfect pitch class, opening the piano cover to start playing on it.
"Ego so strong, you ain't know? I don't need no beat, I can sing it with piano… " The beautiful notes filtered through the air, complementing his vocals, effectively silencing the conversations in the class before he finished with a peaceful look on his face, eyes closed.
"Illumi, I'm happy to witness your renaissance of music…" The teacher said, hands on her hips behind Illumi. "But I would appreciate it if you didn't disrupt class before it even started." She gestured for Illumi to sit. Illumi stood up from the piano, face impassive as it was before and shook out his hair.
"No problem." Illumi walked to a seat, but took out his phone to text Hisoka. He was a fool, a childish fool, but as long as he acknowledged it, he figured it was ok to indulge.

"No." Milluki said, twisting his hand into his chips bag. Gon let out a small whine while Killua huffed.
"What do you mean no? I know you had a great time making music with Gon last time!" Killua said, keeping up with Milluki's quick haste as he walked. Milluki was surprisingly agile for someone of his size and how lazy Killua thought he was.
"I mean I don't want to!" Milluki said, turning his head to stick his tongue out to Killua. Killua snorted in annoyance. "I have better things to do then make baby music with you. I have a girlfriend now, and I'm working on my own music now. I'm gonna be a senior and I have to have a perfected portfolio." Milluki hissed.
"What we're asking for can be an addition to that portfolio, like, perfectly!" Killua cried.
"No! You can make music with him just as well!" Milluki said.
"But I'm not a music director, like you!" Killua argued while Gon already believed this was over. He rubbed his nose while he tried to keep up with his pent up boyfriend. They won't be able to get help to direct their music tones and lyrics from Milluki like originally planned...
"Looks like you should start learning, cause I'm not doing it!" Milluki barked and walked faster.
"Piggy!" Killua cried as Leorio stepped out of the nurses office.
"What's going on out here?" Leorio asked, the other two teens sighed at the sight of their music director walking off. "Are you guys over here to start recording?"
After Gon and Killua wrote some lyrics and got a base of the EP's theme, they realized they were struggling with the full-forming process of the song writing. Killua didn't have as much experience because he was usually singing Milluki's songs which was when they got the idea to just ask him to help.
"No, we were trying to get a music director for the recordings." Gon sighed while Killua grumbled upset, looking after Milluki's retreating form.
"A music director?" Leorio asked, leaning against the door to the infirmary. "What does that do?" Leorio asked.
"It's the person that directs the music. They help with the lyrics, direction of the mood, tone, and give advice on how to get the desired effect." Killua said. "The whole production. We got some lyrics, and some basic music, but we wanted to get Milluki to help us make it sound real pro!" He groaned.
"Oh, like, they clap their hands to keep the beat?" Leorio asked.
"That's really simplifying it, old man. They make music scores to go with lyrics or create harmonies. Edits what adlibs overlays the tracks. They can have new music created that they believe suits the singer's voice and image." Killua hummed. Lerio made a noise that startled Killua, it was somewhere between a shout and a gasp.
"Why didn't you tell me?! I have a couple songs lying around I've been wanting to get sung. I know the parts I would sing, but I needed someone for the main vocals. And I know my best buddy Gon's would be the perfect tone for me!" Leorio said. Gon lit up.
"When were you guys best buddies?" Killua scrunched his nose as Gon bounced with a wide smile, looking between them. Killua can count on one finger how many times he really interacted with this nurse guy. That is to say, maybe once.
"That sounds great, Leorio! I've always wanted to make music with a big group of friends! Ah, one of my career goals is to make an album with a whole bunch of different artists that are my friends!" Gon explained with a large, excited grinned.
"Wh- well, it's not as simple as that. It's a skill and discipline even for people with an ear for these things. You gotta know what you're doing and know when to be mean." Killua tried, though he didn't feel much fight seeing Gon's excited face.
"It's fine! I can use the practice and experience if I'm going to be a music producer one day!" Leorio grinned. Gon nodded in Killua's direction too, all the confidence in his friend. Killua smiled at how cute Gon was being. Well, if Gon was going to be this excited, it's a good idea. Killua sighed, rubbing the back of his neck and Gon was cheering before he even spoke.
"Yea, yea, ok." Killua complied.
"Alright! Then leave the rest to me! Let's go to my studio after school and I'll show you my sound samplers." Leorio said, giving Gon a high five.
"Right! Thanks, Leorio." Gon smiled.

"What is this?" Killua growled, his face flushing red from irritation, waving the paper in his hands in front of Leorio's face, nearly blinding him.
"What? It's a genre I always wanted to sing! I never got to because I didn't have the right dynamic to do it with me!" Leorio arged.
"Kil, it's fine! It's interesting!" Gon smiled, looking over his copy of the lyrics Leorio gave them. "I want to have the chance to sing all songs like this." Killua seethed, pressing his lips into a thin line before turning his glare at Leorio with a scowl.
"I can't believe you're ruining my innocent light!" Killua said, with a shaking fist.
"Let's try it first. It sounds cool. The record companies will have songs like this for me anyway, because those sell." Gon said. Killua groaned but couldn't deny that- sounds like Gon really did his research when looking up what record companies look for in new sign-ons.
"Fine. I'll control the sound board. You brushed up on your rapping?" Killua asked Gon, and Gon grinned. When Gon sees Killua put on his serious face, Gon knew he could rest easy knowing Killua would take care of the hard parts for him. Killua would help the best he could, because he was just amazing like that once Killua committed to something.
"Sure, yea, Killua. I'll warm up before we start." Gon grinned in agreement before Leorio could protest having someone else behind the soundboard of his home recording studio.
"Er, fine, but only because I know you know what you're doing." Leorio went into the sound booth with Gon, leaving Killua behind the controls at Leorio's home studio. The two singers warmed up and discussed a bit more about the tone Leorio had for them, and a bit more back and forth on what parts they'll do, Leorio truly exercising his Music Director skills. Leorio already helped them develop the other songs for their EP, but he wanted to record this one first.
Leorio started them off. They both held the headphones close to their ears to hear the beats and the cues Killua told them.
"Oh you didn't think we can do it again...? Gon… Leorio… From Po pimpin' to Poppin' tags, From champions to Slow Jamz. Oh baby, We can even make you an overnight celebrity... Know what I'm sayin'? "
Killua quickly showed Leorio how strict he could be when it came to music and the final output. Leoro felt grumpy taking all these orders from someone younger than him, but Gon convinced him to take the feedback. And it was soon proven to be for the best, after multiple takes, Leorio delivered the sound they were aiming for. Gon was bouncing and excited to start his part of the song.
"Why don't we…? Play somethin' these hoes'll like… Drive whips I know they like. Leorio, you told 'em right- I can make you a celebrity overnight. Give you ice like Kobe wife, We sort of like goldie, right…? the way we mold 'em right, I can make you a celebrity overnight… "
Leorio took insult to Killua obviously favoring Gon's segment of the song. If Killua wasn't going to take this seriously and criticize their piece properly, he shouldn't be the one to do the retakes. Killua looked appalled when Gon agreed, but finally admitted Gon could do it again and make a better take.
"It was already good, though… you had a fun playful style, anyways." Killua muttered to start the next take. After a couple more takes, they had one everyone was pleased with. Leorio and Gon determined who would have each stanza. Leorio started off, impressing both Killua and Gon with his skills.
"Girl, I see you in them apple bottom jeans, chinchilla on your back I wanna know your name, Girl, I'm Leorio, I can throw your brain, put you in the chameleon 04 range, Still sexy when you smoke that flame, jerkin' like a chicken when you throw that thing. She got me hotter than an oven the way that she talk, switchin' and freaky, so I'm lovin' the way that she walks, You're lookin' good, girl, you ought to be in pictures... Listen to me, I see your career's goin' sky high, Takin' you home to the crib in the Chi, and everytime I see your thighs I cry when I drive by. Watch it, you should bring a thrill, got the fellows on some Johnny Gills steady screaming "My, my, my, my," Walking the carpet with the diamonds that flick in the dark, kickin' it on the couch and 106 & Park. I can see your beauty on a big screen... I can see me freakin' you with whip cream...I can see you on stage at the awards, with a dress better then Jennifer's and doin' big things, Kick it with me, I can mold your life, you're lookin' good, girl, show you right, Dre told me you're the prototype, I can make you a celebrity overnight… "
"You're pretty amazing, Leorio~!" Gon cried with adoring eyes.
"Haha, thanks Gon! It's why I wanted to do a rap song. I'm confident in my skills for those fast paced songs. Your tracks can't go wrong with my rapping skills!" Leorio grinned. Killua scrunched his nose.
"But still, you couldn't choose more classy lyrics? This is a bit crass." Killua hummed.
"C'mon, it's cool and clever. I like the lyrics. Imagine, being surrounded by your girls that love to do videos for you and give money to you, and-"
"I'm gonna stop you there." Killua sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Let's just finish these lyrics. Gon... don't let Leorio rub off on you too much. I agree that it's good to show versatility to the record companies and how well you can sing these types of songs, but…"
"I get it, Killua." Gon smiled good naturedly. "I'll get into what I'm singing, but won't take it to heart."
...
"You want fame, you can take that path, candle lights when you take a bath, You got such a sensational ass, I'm gonna get you Jimmy Choo and Marc Jacobs bags. I could cop her a tow thousand and three, make her smile when she sees Sprees, I can get you on CD's and DVD's, take you to BB's in BCB-G, I could get you into places, to be into the people I know'll show you things to get into. I wanna be your lover and your confidant and protect you from others, don't let another brother pimp you, If you want the style you could with you girl, you all take a look at her she got such an astonishin' body, I could see you in some Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and I bet she's gonna put a hurt on 'em hard in the party. And you know you kill 'em in the club, you cold, you was born to be a pro, how you're gonna stick to photos? And I love you 'cause you're freaky with the door closed, drop it to the floor let that go when you roll slow. And I love it when I hit it from the back and you get on top of me and have a brother goin "Oh, oh" Girl, I love how you roll me right, I can make you a celebrity overnight… "
They took a couple of tries to get Gon to sing his part with the right gusto and vibe. Killua knew that he told Gon not to be too attached to the lyrics, but now he sorta wished Gon did. It was hilarious at times and frustrating at others to hear the incorrect tones come out of his mouth during certain lines. A quick pep talk from Leorio that left Gon red faced had them with better takes until the last one that came out great. Leorio took on the interlude.
"See… See baby girl…? You see how you make a brother break down? I just gotta ask you… What you need? What you need from me? Oh, you wanna be a star? Oh, you're messin' with the right one… I can take you there, I can make sure you got all the finest things… Let me be your manager… "
Killua brought in 2 coffees and a lemon tea from a coffee run during their singing break so they could finish strong. It was really late but they were almost done with what Killua called Leorio's inane song. Gon jumped up to get behind the mic of Leorio's home studio.
"Come here, girl, I can see you're bored, take you to the queen that I see you for, Take you shoppin' on Sprees in stores, I'm gonna get you to the MTV awards. We're about to do a show tonight, you're lookin' good girl, show you you places, I know you like, I can make you a celebrity overnight. Come here, girl, you can hang if you're bored, we can do plenty things plus more, I'm about to have you changin' in stores, I can even get you to the Soul Train Awards. We're about to do a show tonight, you're lookin' good girl, show you right, Take you places, I know you like, I can make you a celebrity overnight… "
Gon smiled over at Killua, and he grinned back before gesturing to where Leorio dozed off on the couch. Gon laughed and went to stop Killua from drawing on his face. Gon was really happy with how this whole session turned out. It was one of his own songs, branded with his own flair. Gon worked hard with his small team and made something with his energy and time that he was proud of. This was the feeling he was always chasing, the things he loved in creating, and the happy feeling at the end of it all. And doing it with the people who care about him and what he was producing, made the experience that much more special to him too. They finished up the first track piece at 2 am at Leorio's place.
Celebrity Overnight by Leorio, Introducing Gon Freeces…
This was it.
The stage was bask in a yellow glow from the old lights in the rafters. The shadows danced and fell along the red curtain hiding the production backstage.
It was now or never.
Killua's could hear Gon's booming voice cry out the lines, modified to be more modern and relatable to today. These lines during this rehearsal leading up to the part Killua has been dreading. The Kiss scene.
He had to stop it. And Killua knew how.
Killua had been waiting backstage, monitoring from the sidelines, in the shadows, for the perfect time to strike. Keeping track of the play's rehearsal schedules, and the suffering through menial stage hand busy-work- it was all worth it to keep close to his objective. When Gon and Ponzu are going in for the kiss, Killua will pull the ropes for the sandbags, which will lower the unfinished cardboard throne. That will loosen and fall forward on the stage, making the two main protagonists jump apart- if Killua understands the stage blocking properly (and Killua doesn't make those trivial mistakes).
"And Maybe you can even teach an old king stuck in his ways to love…" Gon's line was delivered, and Killua could imagine the director crying in his front row seat, captivated by his vision coming to life just as he imagined it.
"Would've been better with me and Gon as the leads.." Killua muttered, pulling the rope. This wouldn't hurt anyone. Maybe give people a good spook about theater safety and securing stuff, but it would keep the scene from completing to the kiss scene. And there would be no reason to practice the kiss once it was interrupted, the lines are what needed work. Everyone would move on to the next scene…
"Look it!" Someone shouted across the stage, and Gon and Ponzu jumped apart as the half painted cardboard fell between them with a shout. Perfect! And Killua made such a good chain reaction that no one could trace it back to where Killua was standing-
"I think it fell from that rope by Killua."
Dereck. The senior stagehand- been managing backstages since freakin 450 BC. Of course Killua should have been more careful. One glance at a scene or incident and Dereck could recall when history repeated itself thousands of years ago and how to handle it or how it happened. Or maybe he was the one that tied this all down and knew it like the back of his hand, so Dereck knew how it could have gone down. All Killua knows now is that he was foolish to think that he was being clever in his trap.
Now all eyes were on him as his form stiffened in guilt and shame.
"Uh, no it wasn't?" Killua said, his voice a couple octaves higher. People groaned, many recognizing his lying voice, already familiarized with Killua's more obvious character traits from months of working close together on the play. Ponzu huffed, stomping her foot, as upset as the others. And Killua didn't appreciate the flush on her face, like she's been anticipating this kiss for a while. Well, his plan wasn't foolproof, but it achieved what he wanted, and Ponzu didn't get hers, so Killua allowed himself a small scoffing glare in her direction.
But Killua stiffend again like a spooked kitten when he noticed Gon striding over to him, the lights behind him casting a dark look in his eyes. The small victories were overshadowed by the vibe.
"Yes, please go talk to Killua, we have a production to put on, we can't be amatuer hour right now!" The director cried from the front row of seats. Killua wanted to scoff loudly and retort with a great, smart, witty response, but then Gon had Killua's wrist in his hand firmly, and bringing Killua further backstage. Killua swallowed anything he could have said and followed somberly. Killua didn't think he was doing anything wrong, at least not to a crazy extent. But after all this and the way Gon was reacting, he's starting to feel like he was acting foolish or out of place.
They walked further into the prepared sets, and it's one Killua recognizes when they stop. It's the water bridge scene for when the prince sees the slave girl- restructured to be Gon's best friend seeing one of the lackeys in the gang. It was prettier than he remembered painting it, but he didn't have much time to think about it because Gon was turning around looking at him.
Killua saw now that the dark look he saw in Gon's eyes on the stage was only a trick of the light. Gon did look firm, but not as intense as he thought before. He only had patience and care in his eyes as he regarded Killua.
"Ok. What's going on?" Gon asked softly, crossing his arms. Killua wasn't quite done being stubborn in that case.
"I don't know what you mean." Killua said, more pouty than he intended. That, coupled with his hands shoved in his pockets, Killua probably looked a bit childish. Gon wasn't falling for it quite this time yet. He stared at Killua with intense bright eyes and Killua struggled not to squirm under the intense gaze before Gon spoke.
"You were jealous." Gon blinked, like he scoured Killua's mind and took it from him. Killua felt his face heat up but he still popped his mouth open in offense.
"Me? Jealous? What could I have possibly been jealous of? I'm so freaking great at everything with- with-" Killua cut himself off when Gon reached out and cupped his cheeks with such care, it left Killua's chest stuttering.
"It's ok to be jealous." Gon smiled kindly, thumbing Killua's red cheeks. Seeing Killua's pretty blues peer into his, Gon just knows he would be jealous if Killua ever looked at anyone else with such open honest eyes. These looks were just for him, and to think Killua felt the same way about Gon, it made him feel over the moon. This beautiful, wonderful guy would want Gon all to himself. "But you honestly have nothing to worry about." Gon said. Killua groaned.
"I know that logically, but the irrational part of my brain…" Killua started, half wanting to pull himself away from Gon's warm hands on his face and his honest eyes that were burrowing into his, making Killua feel so vulnerable. Gon just nodded understandingly for him to continue. "Just the thought of you kissing someone else… And she would so enjoy it….!" Explaining his source of anger was harder than Killua thought.
"I…" Gon paused, trying to find the right words. "I will be kissing Ponzu for the play. And no matter how much she enjoys it, it's just a play kiss. It will always be a pretend kiss that no one will think is real. And now, thanks to this, we'll only pretend kiss one or two times." Gon said. Gon gave Killua a look when Killua still looked so distressed over that. "But you? I've kissed you…" Gon pretended to do the calculations in his head. "361 times. In the 7 months I've known you."
"Don't lie…" Killua huffed a laugh, looking at Gon with such soft eyes, Gon could fly because of them. Gon smiled wider, but more shy.
"And I'll kiss you…" Another pause for fake math. "Another 3 million times…" Gon grinned when he got the desired effect of Killua flushing more, almost looking mortified.
"Gon…"Killua huffed breathlessly, his voice quivering. Gon smiled, putting their foreheads together.
"So, I'll kiss Ponzu once or twice. But it's you who I'll always want to shower in kisses. You don't have to be jealous." Gon hummed in the space between them. Killua mouthed Gon's name once more before Gon kissed him gently but with all the intention behind it.
Kllua was really acting stupid.
The cast of 'The King and I' held hands and bowed to the audience giving a standing ovation. The opening night play was a huge success, Gon's larger than life personality and acting constructed the flow and made the play that much more enjoyable. He was the perfect lead for the play. Killua clapped from the side wings, watching Gon's back, backlit by the bright lights of the stage. That's where Gon should always be, in the spotlight like he loves. Gon shines like the sun in the attention. When they finish, Gon rushes backstage and kisses Killua deeply. After Gon's speech a couple days ago, every kiss Gon gave Killua always left Killua a little breathless. That's just another kiss towards the total count of 3 million.
Killua had barely goten home for the night when he got a flurry of texts from Gon. Killua squinted at his phone- they were all nearly indecipherable.
10:22 Kil iu g ot
10:22 Got ehte sl
10:22 teh srtui do
10:22 aid YRES!
Killua was starting to worry Gon was hurt or having a stroke, but just as Killua was going to formulate a response, Gon was calling him.
"Hello?" Killua asked as he closed the door to his bedroom.
"I GOT A CONTRACT OFFER, KIlLUA!" Gon cried from the phone, and Killua had to move the phone from his face a bit. But then it registered what Gon shouted, and Killua gasped loud enough to swallow a bug.
"Gon, no way! You did, what- I'm on my way!" Killua cried, grabbing a light jacket and a change of clothes. Hopefully Illumi was still awake to drive him.
"I know! I gave my EP with my resumes and I got an offer, Killua, I'm so happy, I did it! I-" Gon cried over the phone while Killua laughed at the obvious excitement in his tone. They still need to look over the contract and make their edits so Gon gets what he needs, or isn't short handed in the deals. Killua knows Gon will want to deal with this sooner rather than later and needs a pro to go through it with him. So it'll be a long weekend. But Killua couldn't be happier for his boyfriend. And he supposed Leorio's inane song wasn't that bad if it helped Gon get into a studio...

The way I reimagined the king and I was that Gon's a 'King' or leader of a gang of some kind in either high school or college, and Ponzu would be the tutor needed to keep them in school/keep them from flunking as the school's last ditch effort to keep them off the streets. Something like that or you can imagine the original story line of king and I in a high school setting somehow.
