Chapter 2: Wolf

Annie's POV

The two strangers left before we had a chance to launch an attack.

"Don't!" I ordered immediately.

"But Annie they were chasing you," Joseph said.

"What if they are dangerous?" Lily asked.

"and that's precisely why we shouldn't go after them. We don't know if they're dangerous. Let them leave,"

Joseph, Eric, Lily, and Ethan didn't have a choice but to obey my orders. I was the leader, the alpha wolf, of the pack. When we first formed a pack months ago we instinctually knew that there needed to be a leader. An alpha. Something within, call it instinct I guess, told me that I should be the one in charge. As I was the first person that this had happened to the others were only to eager to let me helm the role of leadership.

Once I assumed the role I realized that it came with a lot of responsibility. I felt very maternal towards my pack. I knew that if I ever needed to I would do all that I could to protect my pack from danger. Also when I assumed the role we quickly realized that it was impossible for them to ignore a direct order from me.

"Let's just get out of here," I suggested. They agreed. I ran back to the spot where I had left my clothes and I turned human again as quickly as I was able to do so.

My stomach growled again. In all of the chaos I'd forgotten how hungry I was. I stopped at McDonald's for lunch on my way home. I ordered so many cheeseburgers and fries that the lady who handed me my order thought I was ordering for a whole group of people back home.

I didn't correct her. I was grateful that my parents weren't home when I got home. They had been very heavily critiquing my diet choices over the last several months. I didn't know how to explain to them that my hunger had increased exponentially in a way that they would understand.

When I finished lunch I went to my room to finish a history essay that I'd just remembered I still had. It was an essay on the American revolution. History had become favorite subject since Garrett Denali had started teaching it. The way he often spoke about history one would think he was actually there to witness it all. He had so much passion for the subject he taught that it had rubbed off on all of us.

If only I could say the same for the rest of my subjects. Well I did good in English, Biology was interesting, and my P.E grade had improved tremendously since my body had enhanced with wolf powers.

Wolf powers. I shook my head. Who would have ever thought. There was still so much we didn't know. There were no answers either. It didn't matter how much research we had done.

My mind kept wondering back to that couple in the woods. What were they? They looked human. But up until a few months ago Joseph, Ethan, Eric, Lily, and I all believed that we were human. Maybe there were other creatures out there that we had yet to discover.

I couldn't concentrate on my homework anymore and I slammed my book shut thinking that I would just finish everything tomorrow. I left home again without much of an idea on where I was heading next.

Normally I would head back into the woods but I was afraid I'd encounter those two strange creatures again. I didn't stop until I reached the mall. I needed new clothes anyway. I couldn't even begin to count the amount of clothes that I'd shredded to pieces since I'd started wolfing out.

I didn't leave the mall until night had fallen. Instead of going home I headed straight for the woods when I heard wolves howling. I parked my car and took off my clothes quickly before making the change.

I joined the rest of my pack in the clearing I'd seen in their heads. I ran go join them. Immediately I could sense that we were not alone. I smelled something sickly sweet. It made me want to gag. I'd smelled it every time I came across a Denali and I'd smelled it earlier when I'd encountered those two golden eyed strangers in the woods.

Now I smelled it stronger than I ever had before. It made me want to gag. Then I saw them one by one entering the clearing. First it was the couple I'd seen earlier. Then six more of them soon followed.

Right away we were put on edge.

"Ethan don't!" I commanded when I saw he was planning. "We don't know what they are and your might just get yourself killed if you attack,"

"We're not here to harm you," the blonde doctor was the first to speak. "We just want to talk,"

I was apprehensive at first. Now we were outnumbered. I got the impression that they could harm us if they really wanted to. So maybe he was making a genuine offer.

"Edward which one is the alpha?"

"The White Wolf," the one called Edward answered. "Carlisle he is a bit apprehensive right now,"

Wait a minute. How did he know that?

All eyes were on me now as I was the only white wolf here. The blonde guy who I now knew was named Carlisle approached me slowly.

"It's okay young man. Neither you nor your pack are in any danger right now. We just want to talk to you," he simply said. I couldn't help but believe him. If he wanted to attack he would've by now. We were outnumbered. "What is his name Edward?"

Okay that was a bit of annoying. First off I'm a female and second my name is Annie.

"Her," the bronze haired boy answered. "and her name is Annie,"

I heard a few gasps from the strange group as if my name meant something to them.

"It can't be," they all said. "It can't be,"
