AN: Merry Christmas!
The world was tearing its self apart.
Pieces of ground and even parts of their bases were being ripped from their places and pulled skyward, never to be seen again. Gravity was all over the place, often pulling people up into the air before they were gently dropped back down. Even a simple jump took so much longer for someone to return to the ground. And then there was the moon, slowly growing larger for the past few months and now was practically filling the entire sky.
The sight of the big moon and the weird effects it had on their world was causing a lot of panic for those that lived there. Some were in deep denial, claiming everything would be fine and there was no need to worry about the oncoming moon. Most though were making all sorts of plans to flee or hide from the destruction they knew was coming.
Those that are in Boatem, after a failed attempt at destroying the moon, resigned themselves to escaping the world and leaving their home behind. Still, they couldn't help but scramble to finish a few last things before they'd be gone forever, adding the last few details to their bases, putting their animals in bunkers to give them a slim chance to survive, reminiscing about all the fun they had, and gathering up the few things they were determined to bring with them.
On the day of their departure, they gathered around the Boatem Hole one last time, Pearl even setting up a barbecue so they could have one last good time. They couldn't help themselves but have fun, even as the land was ripped up around them, they ate food and told jokes. Mumbo and Pearl even got into a lighthearted argument about roasting potato vs meat.
Eventually, though, even they knew it was time to go. They loaded into Scar's rocket, putting away their last few things and light-heartedly grumbling about how much charged them to come aboard. Once they were in position, Scar pulled the lever and they were all falling down towards the Boatem Hole.
Even on the way down, they were joining with each other, though their smiles were a bit more strained and their laughter a bit more hysterical. As the void approached, they reached out and grabbed onto each other, refusing to be alone turning what could very soon be their final moments. Clinging to their friends, they said their final and heartfelt goodbyes as they finally fell into the dark abyss.
The Void beneath the Boatem Hole had long stopped being a cold place to the members of their town, having feed it things they loved and even themselves on occasion. So as they fell deeper and deeper into the blackness, they only felt a comfort acting warmth pressing in around them, almost as if they were being embraced in a comforting hug.
Whether it was the suits that Scar provided or an act of the Void itself they couldn't be sure, but the members of Boatem were serving far longer in the void than they had ever had before. Though it was hard to tell how much time had passed, they could tell that after awhile they stopped falling and began floating, held within the abyss.
Most people, if they had found themselves in this situation, would have freaked out at the idea of being potentially trapped forever in the void. But the members of Boatem weren't scared and they had no reason to. All this time they had been taking care of the void an now it was taking care of them. They knew they would be safe and protected here and someday they would move on to where they needed to be. Whether that place would be another world or not they weren't sure, but they trusted the void would not let them get lost.
In the meantime, all they could do was wait.
