Tsukauchi's POV

Paperwork took far longer than he would have liked. When he came back out he didnt find it surprising to see Sansa still holding onto Izuku. The little boy was still asleep in the cat man's arms. For his part Sansa didnt look uncomfortable in the slightest. Naomasa had to think back to his earlier assessment. His partner would make a better parent than himself.

Sighing he moved towards the desk so that he could take the boy. Sansa allowed him to take Izuku with the slightest hesitation.

Naomasa offered easily, "You can come over to visit him anytime you like Sansa. I know that you will want to keep an eye on his progress."

That wasnt even mentioning the other's specialization in childhood psychology. He took several classes on it and eventually got a degree. Out of everyone in the precinct he was best suited for taking in an abused child.

Naomasa would not go back on his promise to the child. Sansa would be there for his questions should he ask. Unless someone better came along Izuku would be under his roof.

Sansa whispered quietly so not to wake the child, "When he settles at your place. Tsuragamae said you should take another week off to get him settled," at Naomasas look he continued smiling slightly, "Dont worry about things here. We are perfectly capable of taking care of things here. If it's an emergency I'll contact you."

Naomasa wanted to argue about how long they would need. Then the child in his arms snuggled closer to him. It caused him to sigh and nod in acceptance.

Naomasa took the child to his car that was parked outside and placed him in the passenger side. After buckling Izuku in he went to the driver's side. The ride to his apartment was made in silence as Izuku slept on. No doubt the boy was exhausted from the day's events. Hopefully he would sleep without any problems with nightmares.

Upon arriving at his apartment he once again had to carry the boy. There was little difficulty in arranging Izuku so that he could enter his apartment without putting him down. They were greated by his older yellow lab Mighty with a thump of his tail at seeing them.

Unsurprisingly his dog did not get up to greet him. Mighty was entering his older years and suffered from arthritis. It hurt him to think their time together was coming to an end. From what the veterinarian said it would still be a few years before it happened. No matter when it happened it was going to hurt him. All he could do was prepare as much as possible.

Locking the door behind him, he pushed his way into the apartment. His kitchen and living room were sparsely decorated. Most of the decorations were in fact gifts from Toshinori or Sansa.

There were three doors on the other side of the apartment. One was his own bedroom. While the other two were bathroom and guest room.

Naomasa pushed open the door to his guest room. Like the living room and kitchen, it was fairly bare. He would have to fix that tomorrow. Moving over to the bed he tried to disentangle himself from the child's grip. Izuku only gripped his shirt all the tighter.

No matter how he tried coax the child to let him go it proved useless. Sighing he moved to his own room. There he laid down on his bed still in his regular clothes. It took a long time for him to be able to fall asleep that night.

He was woken up in much earlier than he would have liked. It took a few seconds for him to realize what had woken him. Izuku was whimpering and moving about in his sleep. Nightmares he should have expected this.

Softly he said rubbing a hand up and down the child's back, "Hey there it's okay. You're safe, Izuku. Its okay you're safe."

Naomasa could feel his shirt being drenched by tears from the boy. He continued to softly tell the boy that he was safe. That it was okay and he wouldnt be hurt.

There was no telling how long it took for the boy calm down. Eventually he fell back into an uneasy sleep. It took even longer for Naomasa to fall back asleep.

When morning sunlight came he was awoken by a shifting on his chest. It took him a few seconds to remember that he brought an abused child home with him. Looking down he saw wary green eyes staring up at him.

"Good morming," yawned Naomasa.

Izuku said shyly, "Good morning. Ummmm where are we?"

"My apartment," he responded and tried to sit up. Izuku moved over to allow him to sit up, "Alright we both need showers. If you go out that door the next door over is the bathroom. Take as long as you need to I will get started on breakfast."

The boy scuttled off his bead and out into the main room. Once the water started Naomasa changed into a regular tshirt and jeans. Then he went out into kitchen and began breakfast.

He made scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. Hopefully it would be enough for the two of them. When the shower turned off Naomasa frowned as he looked at the time. It had only been five minutes from when Izuku got in the shower. Even he took longer showers than that.

He had to bite his lip to keep from asking about it. If it continues Naoamsa would bring it up when they were more comfortable with each other. He plated the food and put them on the table.

Izuku joined him a few moments later still looking exhausted. When he sat at the table he glanced at the plate before giving him a questioning look.

"That's for you," he answered the unasked questioned, "You have to be hungry since neither of us ate last night."

He was given a look of disbelief from the child. Then Izuku pulled the plate close and with a wary look he began to eat. Naomasa eat his own breakfast quietly observing his ward.

His observations from the day before were only verified. The child was too thin for someone his age. It confirmed what they had learned from Inko. His clothes hung off him and there were scars that could be seen under it. Unless he was mistaken then they were burn scars. Most likely someone attacking with an explosion or fire quirk.

For now Naomasa wasnt going to ask about them. He didnt have enough of a repore with Izuku yet. Maybe one day he would be comfortable with talking about it.

"What are we going to do today? I cannot start Nuoding Academy for another month."

Naomasa set aside his fork and plate as he answered, "Today we will be going shopping so I can get you some new clothes. Other than that I dont have any plans. Is there something you would like to do?"

Izuku shook his head in denial then gulped down the rest of his food. Naomasa watched him scutter off with a sigh. He would take some time to become relaxed around him.

They took a train to the shopping district instead of his car. The first place he took Izuku was a clothes shop. Compromises once more had to be made. Izuku seemed to favor the color black more than anything else. They picked out long and short-sleeved shirts that were in black, grey, and green.

The color scheme reminded him of Eraserhead. If he didn't know better he would say the kid spent time with the Pro Hero. From there they moved towards the jackets.

He watched his ward from the corner of his eye. The boy was standing by a rack of jackets. The jackets themselves had bunny ears as hoods. If he remembered correctly they were part of a new anime's merchandise. Izuku seemed to be favoring a one green jacket. Until he saw the price tag and immediately moved to another rack.

Naomasa moved to check the price for himself. It was a tad expensive more than he would normally pay for a jacket but the quality was good. So he stuck it under the shirts they had chosen. He would give it to Izuku as a present. The kid didnt seem like he ever had one before. So this would be a start.

He smiled faintly when he saw Izuku come back with a warm looking black coat. It was a few sizes too big but Naomasa would make sure he grew into it. While he was buying the shirts and jackets he sent Izuku along to find jeans. It would take slightly longer than the previous two since he wasnt sure what size the boy was.

Or so he thought. By the time Naomasa had made his way to the jeans Izuku already had four pairs. He cautiously held out each pair for inspection. He barely withheld a sigh as he checked them and their prices. They were all at appropriate prices and of good quality. An approving smile crossed his face. It was tentatively returned by the kid.

Their next to last stop was the toy store. It had taken quite a bit of convincing for Naomasa to get the boy to agree. He insisted that he wasn't a child. He denied that and reminded the boy of his age. That he wanted to make the boy's life better. So with some grumbling the boy had entered the store.

For his part, Naomasa watched him carefully as Izuku moved about the store. He was careful to avoid the children running about. There was no small amount of annoyance in his body language. Too many children and unfamiliar scents. Maybe this wasnt the greatest idea. For now he could only watch and wait.

As he walked through the back aisles he found something of interest. A pair of golden goggles made out of plastic. They were just like the ones that Eraserhead wore. Eraserhead wasn't a well-known hero and his merchandise was rare. To find it here was a surprise but a welcome one. He picked it up with slight trepidation. Would Aizawa really allow him to have it? It would be obvious who he was favored by if he did.

"Did you find anything?" Queried Naomasa startling the boy.

Turning he found Naomasa standing there. One hand in his pocket and a relaxed stance that made Izuku mirror. Onyx eyes widened with surprise at the sight of the goggles.

Naomasa questioned, "You know Eraserhead?'

Izuku replied, "Hes my favorite hero. Though he isnt well known to the public he basically fights quirkless. It's a symbol of hope for people like me."

Ah yes that would make sense. From there they left the toy store and as they headed out onto the tree he saw the way Izuku glanced at the book store. So he liked to read. Well then let's try this.

Naomasa questioned tilting his head to the book store, "Do you mind if I step in here a moment? I promised to get Sansa a book he has been looking for. You of course can pick out anything you like."

Izuku bit his lip but nodded nervously. The two of them entered the shop and Izuku shot over to the children's section. Naomasa for his part walked over to the quirk section. He picked out a book on quirks and the psychological impact they could have. It was something he knew that Sansa would appreciate.

It took about ten minutes for Izuku to return with a stack of books. There was a questioning look if it was okay. Naomasa held out his hand for the books. They paid for them and then headed back to Naomasa's apartment.
