Jared with the God-like Complex
Sebastian got up from his chair so quickly, the chair almost flew across the room. He had a look of absolute terror on his face which only meant that Jared was not the good brother, nor did he pretend to be the good brother. He was tall, had sandy blonde hair, deep blood red eyes, he was muscular built, and covered in various tattoos; he was every girl's dream except the longer I stared at him the more evil I saw, especially when he talked and revealed vampire-like fangs.
"You now know the truth," Jared said standing straight with his arms behind him.
"I get that you were chosen," Sebastian said keeping his distance, "but being evil was not what the family had in mind."
"Being evil is all I know and it is all that I am," he said as I continued to sit at the table hoping he wouldn't recognize me, but then he said, "and who is this?"
Fuck.
I stood up and walked in front of Sebastian to protect him. "I'm no one to be messed with."
"You don't seem so tough," Jared said sticking out his hand and producing a black fire ball. What kind of power was that? I stuck out my hand and nothing happened. Jared walked up to me and laughed. "I have more power in my pinky finger than you do in your whole body, so I suggest not to mess with me right now."
"What do you want?" I asked trying to regulate my breathing.
"Sebastian knows what I want," Jared said pacing the room.
I looked at Sebastian who seemed to avoid eye contact with me and his brother, "The books."
"Correct!" Jared exclaimed as he clapped his hands together arrogantly. "Now I know you have at least two of them and I would like them."
Suddenly I laughed; then I realized the laugh was out loud. Why did I laugh out loud?
"Is something funny?" Jared asked me suddenly realizing he was an inch from my face.
"Yeah," I said as I chuckled, "it's funny that you think that you'll get the books, but what is even funnier is the thought that we would just hand them over to you." I put my hand on his chest and sent him flying across the room with a golden beam of light that radiated from my hand. I saw things through a golden halo and I felt stronger than I ever had before. I walked over to Jared, picked him up by the neck, and stared into his eyes.
"You'll have to kill me first before laying your hands on that book. Now piss off!" I lifted him up and through him out the window, but when the golden halo was gone from my eyesight, I ran over to the window to discover Jared gone. I looked back at Sebastian who was flabbergasted at the spectacle that had just happened.
"What the fuck?"
"I have no clue."
"In simple terms, you absorbed his 'god-like complex' hence the golden halo you saw," Dach said as I almost broke into a laugh.
"Seriously?" I asked as he shook his head and a laugh erupted from my lips. Everyone looked at me in confusion. "So you're telling me I absorbed some of his power and it turned me into a god? We aren't in Greece, those stories are just stories."
"They had to come from somewhere," Sebastian said as I snapped my head around.
"Don't tell me you're siding with them," I said disappointed.
Sebastian smiled, "All stories have a lick of truth to them, even if we think they are just stories."
"Ok, give me an example," I asked him in disbelief.
"Alright," he said pondering and pacing, "Ok. In the story, Hansel and Gretel, they are told to not play in to woods for there is a scary witch. They come upon a house made out of candy and a nice old lady invited them inside, but winds up killing them and cooking them in her oven. Later, she in turn is cooked in her oven and the townspeople no longer have cases of missing children. That old lady was a witch and in order to keep her beauty, she had to eat children."
"Ewwww," I said. "How about Mary had a Little lamb?"
"Mary did have a little lamb, until she became a werewolf and ate her lamb. Hence the term 'had'."
"Jack and Jill?"
"Jack was a sorcerer and Jill was a jealous so she pushed Jack down the hill and broke his crown, which is what gave Jack his power. As karma, Jill tripped down the hill, tumbling after her brother and was impaled by the very crown she was jealous of. She was a bitch."
"What about the gods of Olympus?"
"The gods of Olympus were just that, gods. They ruled on that mountain for eons until a massive earthquake toppled the great mountain sending all the gods tumbling to earth. The true myth was once true god touched Earth, their powers were stripped and they had to prove to the universe that they deserved their powers."
"So there could be gods walking around right now and we would not know it?"
"No, that would imply that they were not human," Hermione said, "if your immortality was taken away you'd become human. So maybe they had kids and their legacy is to restore the powers to the family."
I looked at Sebastian, "How would you know all this?"
He went over to a section in the library and took out a black book with his family crest on it. He opened it to a specific page and dropped it on the table. "It is said that my mother is descended from a goddess. Making me half-god. Making Jared half-god."
"Holy shit," I said, "so the whole god-complex thing is real?"
Dach nodded his head, "I've come across a few gods in my time and what you witnessed fits the bill."
"I need some air," I said getting up from the table and walking to an open window away from the library. I stared out the window and listened to the wind as it rolled through the leaves, through the window, and through my hair; I sighed. I wasn't sure why this was overwhelming; witches and wizards were real and so were werewolves and vampires, but now gods and goddesses? I had a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that my best friend was a god of some type and now his brother was in town, which gave me more of a headache. I walked to my room, grabbed my car keys, hopped in my car and sped to the nearest bar. I really needed a drink.
The bar was super loud and uncomfortable; at least 5 guys asked for my number, and were very disappointed when they were turned down. I smiled and returned to my drink when another guy approached me.
"I'm not interested," I said not looking at him.
"Not interested in an old friend?" he asked as I suddenly recognized his voice. I turned my head to the left and found him sitting next to me with a glass half full of blood. I was shocked to see him here; it had been ages. "Holy shit!" I jumped up and hugged him tightly. "What are you doing here? It's been years!"
"I know," he said. "I'm here on business, and this is a local bar I come to every time I'm in town."
"And the last time that was?" I asked smiling.
"A few years ago which is where we met," he said smiling back. His eyes drew me in like they always had and I felt a heat build up inside of me like it did the last time. Last time I spent four days with him and they were the most magical days I had ever experienced and I felt that desire build from my core and it took every ounce of me to not pounce on him right then and there. "So what are you doing here?"
"Being frustrated," I said as I downed the rest of my drink. He leaned in so close to my ear that I felt his breath and it sent shivers down my entire body.
"You know I can take care of that for you," he said softly as he caressed my hands with his and kissed my neck. I backed away, hoping the urge would go away but the more i resisted the more the flames burned and became hotter.
"You never come into town to just say hi," I said.
"I am saying hi," he said again. "If you're interested, here is where I am staying." He gave me his business card with an address on the back. "Whether you come or not, I'll know your answer." He kissed my cheek, sending goosebumps through me, and left the bar. The bartender came over, handed me another drink and smiled at me.
"He always gets you hot and bothered," he said as I rolled m eyes.
"That was our agreement, Sam," I told him downing my drink, but instead of turning to leave I was face-to-face with another man who was not my friend and whom I did not ever want to see again.
"Hello," he said in a deep voice.
"Goodbye," I said pushing past him, but he grabbed me buy the neck and held me down.
"You'll want to stay for this," he said leaning in to me baring his sharp teeth. He had green glowing eyes to match his neon green hair; he wore a nice pinstripe suit, wore a mobster fedora, and had the strength of sixty men; he still held my neck as everyone at the bar kept their distance from the drama that I was now the center of. "Where are the books?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," I said as he smiled, picked me up, and threw me across the room.
"If you don't start talking, my friends that are outside will start killing everyone in here," he said folding his arms. "Now tell me where I can find the books."
"You know, I don't think I will," I said as he ran over to me, picked me up by the neck again and slammed me against the nearest wall. "You have got to stop doing that."
"Tell me where they are and I won't kill you," he said angrily.
"Jake, you'll kill me anyway so what is the point?" I asked, "where did the boy from school go?"
"He disappeared," he said as I suddenly felt a searing pain in my neck; it was the most excruciating pain I had ever felt in my life. I tried to push him off, but he pulled me in closer and intensified the pain. I heard people screaming from left to right as I felt weaker and weaker; he dug his nails into my back and pulled me even closer as he sank his teeth deeper into my neck. I felt the life drain from me as I fell to the ground, unable to move from being so weak; I looked at him as he wiped his mouth and smiled. "The next time my orders are disobeyed I will kill you." He and his friends left the bar as I lay there motionless, ready to close my eyes.
Sam came rushing over to me and grabbed my hand, "Holy shit! I didn't think he was going to bite you."
"Yeah same," I said smiling as I desperately wanted to close my eyes. I looked up and saw my tall and handsome stranger, Dean, standing behind Sam with his pinstripe suit still on.
"Allow me," Dean said as Sam nodded his head.
"You came for me," I said softly.
"I will always come for you," Dean said biting his arm and feeding me his blood. I drank it fast and in a flash Dean scooped me up, and rushed me from the bar.
