Chapter 37: Go help Bloom

Bloom's wrists and ankles were cuffed to a large wall facing Darkar's throne. The dark creature himself was leisurely sitting on it while cackling at the sight of the struggling fairy. In a few minutes, the girl would be under his complete control and together they would open the gate to the codex. Darkell, who was stuck to the wall just a few feet away from the red head, could do nothing but watch. Since he himself was not under the Dark Lord's control, he had concluded that the man could control two people simultaneously probably took too much of his concentration. However, he could still feel that the man had placed a spell to keep him still. The spell was stronger in the near presence of the man himself. He watched in pure horror as the girl's screams slowly transformed into an obnoxious cackling. Her eyes who usually only showed naivety and innocence were suddenly filled with cold contempt.

As the spell completely took over the girl, the Dark creature got up from his throne and slowly approached them. He stopped just a few steps away from the girl and with a small movement of his skeletal hand unlocked the cuffs keeping her prisoner. She fell to her knees still cackling madly.

"Get up, we have some work to do!" He turned around followed by the movement of his dark shredded cape. It trailed behind him like a second threatening shadow. But the scary vision did not seem to affect the girl since she only cackled more loudly and followed behind him.

Darkell watched the two disappear behind a magic portal and he could do nothing to stop them. He felt completely powerless. He tugged aimlessly on the chains around his body but they would not budge. As he tried to move his ankle he heard a weird fluttering noise coming from his left. A paper bird was flying towards him. Where did it come from? This was not the type of magic you usually saw here. As the flying paper grew near it brought a beautiful smell of strawberries and mint with it and a very familiar green and pink aura surrounding the object could be visible to his trained eye. Flora. She was here. This was probably a tracking spell. Because as soon as the object had finished flying around him a few times it flew back out the room. It was probably on its way to report back his location to the beautiful fairy. He had felt so relieved but also so worried at the same time. This was too dangerous. His powers were not meant to work in this place. How will she defend herself? And he was trapped here against the wall without any way to protect her. He had never felt so powerless in his life.

But his anxious thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of multiple screeching. This was probably some sort of alarm against intruders that Darkar had put in place. In his peripheral view something suddenly glowed up. The magic ball the Dark Lord used regularly had turned itself on its own. It was showing an image of the Girls fully transformed facing a huge dark creature. They were in trouble. He had to help them. He had to find a way to get out of here. He closed his eyes focusing on the magic around him. He tried to recall everything he knew on this sort of spell. It was supposed to stop the prisoner from moving or using any spell on their surroundings. But the owner of the spell was on the other side of that portal in a parallel universe. So the spell must be a bit weaker. How could he exploit that weakness?

It took longer than he would have liked but he finally found a solution. It was risky but it was his only chance. He concentrated all the power Faragonda had given him on his body. He felt every cell of his body change into a new form slowly trickling down the wall and around the cuff. Almost there Flora. Just hang on.

The girls were struggling. The beast was huge, and they needed to pass it to get to Bloom. But on the other hand, they needed to save their energy for the battle against Darkar. The girls were spread out around the room. They were all hesitant on what to do and where to attack. They were taking too much time in their decision making that the beast had locked on its next target. It lifted up its enormous mace and charged towards Flora. She lifted up her arms in the hopes of aiming a spell at its head in time. But suddenly red familiar runes started appearing on the floor and slowly creeping up the monster's legs. It could not move a muscle. And Flora could only stop and stare at what was happening. She knew who had done it. She could recognize the distinctive runes anywhere. And her suspicions were confirmed when Dimitri walked out from his position behind the creature where he had been hidden from the girl's sight. His hands continued doing complicated movements to encourage the runes to encase the monster completely. At the same time his head turned to the flower fairy. He smirked slightly when their eyes med and he saw her shocked expression.

"Hey Darling, missed me?" She could only answer with a nod. Her throat wass out of order because of the tears of happiness and relief that were slowly building in her eyes. He looked paler than usual and he had scratches and bruises all over his skin. He had lost his tie and some of his shirt was missing. But otherwise he was alive and himself and that was all she could as for. She wanted to jump in his arms and bury her tear-stricken face in his shirt but now was not the time they both knew it. And the voice behind them only confirmed it.

"Leave this thing to us. We will take care of it. You girls go help Bloom. Darkell,go with them."

Faragonda, Griffin and Red Fountain's vice-principle were standing behind them. Their eyes locked on the threat and quickly adopted a fighting position.

"But Mrs. Faragonda…" Musa tried to protest but Darkell interrupted her.

"Now is not the time. Your friend is in danger. I'll lead the way."

They nodded in acceptance and followed behind them ready to take on any threat to save their redhead best friend.
