Chapter 3
Kagome was sitting in a Quinjet, listening to Sesshomaru's briefing. She was wearing a short kimono that was sea blue with pink sakura blossoms, and bell-like sleeves. Her uniform was in a bag by her side.
"Kagome you will retrieve the tesseract for S.H.I.E.L.D., but you take orders from me," Sesshomaru said in a cold monotone voice. "As the Princess of the West, you will do well. Also tell that kit of yours that you are never dating that Panther demon, Shūran," he said coldly.
"I know, I already told him that last night," Kagome sighed, shaking her head.
"Very well, Good luck," he said as he cut off the transmission.
Kagome sighed as she placed her hand on the mark upon her forehead. It appeared thereafter she bonded with Sesshomaru as his sister. It was the same crescent moon as his, but a pink circle filled the open space. It showed her status as the Princess of the West and Shikon Miko.
Natasha was watching as the boys, Steve Rogers, and Bruce Banner, interact with each other. When she saw a Quinjet approach from a distance.
"Ah, our final teammate has arrived," Natasha smiled. She knew the info of their mysterious teammate had been somewhat held back.
"I wonder who he is?" Bruce wonders aloud.
"From what I read he is a wonderful fighter. Great asset to our team," Steve said, imaging a buff man like himself. When the Quinjet doors opened, they were not expecting what came off the Quintet. They were shocked by the young gorgeous Asian women to walk off the Quinjet
"Nat it is simply wonderful to see you again," Kagome beamed to the assassin.
"Kagome, I feel the same. How did that mission go in India?" she asked curiously.
"Not even a challenge. The only reason it was titled so dangerous, was because of its camouflage ability," Kagome sighed as she linked arms with Natasha. They have run into each other plenty of times on missions. Sometimes they were even after the same target.
"I would love to hear all about how you found the dreaded creature, but first introductions. Kagome meets Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner. Guys this Kagome aka the Lady of the West," Natasha introduced her. Kagome bowed to them in her standard greeting.
"It's a pleasure to meet you both. Captain America, the Hulk," she beamed at them. They were in a state of shock and disbelief. There was no way this sweet girl was the same warrior from that file.
"We should probably go inside. It's going to get pretty hard to breathe here soon," Natasha told them, as they began to take off.
"Is this a submarine?" Steve asked curiously.
"They want me in a submerged pressurized, metal container?" Banner asked sarcastically.
As they realized they were going up in the air. Kagome smirked at Natasha, Kagome has been on this ship before today with Sesshomaru.
"No, no, this is much worse," the Banner called over the wind. They walked in together, heading to the bridge.
"So, , tell me how's the Big guy doing?"Kagome asked curiously.
"Why do you ask?" He asked skeptically.
"Nothing bad, just wondering if you wanted to learn meditation techniques. It helps me keep a level head. It prevents me from blowing my top, like Donald Duck," she smiled kindly. Steve perked at recognizing something.
"You have to forgive Kagome. She likes to help people. If she sees someone suffering she has to help them," Natasha laughed quietly. Bruce nodded in agreement.
"Thank you Kagome, I will take you up on it sometime," he smiled
"I never did get to greet you, I am Steve Rogers, ma'am," he smiled at her, catching up to her in the corridor.
"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Rogers. Please call me Kagome. If I hear the word ma'am directed my way, I always look to see if my mom is in the room," Kagome giggled.
"Only if you call me Steve," he grinned. He was attracted to her big time, but kept to his roots, and was a gentleman.
He would get to know her a bit before asking her on a date. She isn't an official member of the Avengers. She was on loan from another allying agency or something like that. They soon walked onto the very busy bridge. Kagome spotted Phil and waved to him. His eyes widened in shock at seeing her.
"Director Fury," Kagome called coming up to him. Furry came over to greet the strong.
"Thank you for coming," he smiled kissing and shaking her hand.
"You do remember my brother's requirements?" Kagome asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Of course, we wouldn't dare cross the Lord of the West," he said nodding along.
"Good, well what's the status on everything?" Kagome asked. He directed her to Agent Hill, as she filled her in on everything.
"So, from what you describing he is using mind control or manipulation," Kagome said thinking aloud.
"Will you be able to pull him out of it?" Natasha asked her.
"Yeah, But I need to be able to touch him. As for Loki, it sounds like a spoiled child that needs a time out," kagome chuckled.
"A time out?" Furry ask her in shock.
"Director you know this is not the first rodeo with a trickster," she smirked at him secretly.
"Right, I forgot about your adopted son," he sighed. "How is he doing anyway?" He asked expressing concern.
"Great, currently in Egypt hunting down a scorpion causing trouble. He is having a field day," she beamed.
"How much trouble can a scorpion be?" Phil asked curiously.
"Try being a scorpion as tall as 3 story building and as long this deck. That is how much trouble," Kagome said in a deadpan voice, and ending it with a smile. Steve handed furry another $10.
"Anyway, Natasha I'd like to ask you a few questions about Hawkeye," Kagome said walking off. Steve followed her with his eyes. He didn't know what it was, but he is just drawn to her.
A while later…..
"I mean, it's not to much trouble," Phil said to him shyly.
"No, no, it's fine," Steve said off handily watching the screens.
"It's a vintage set," he said with pride. "It took me a few years to collect them all," he continued. "Near mint, slight foxing on the edges, but," Phil described but was interrupted by an alarm. Kagome and Natasha rushed in when they heard the alarm.
"Where?" Kagome asked in a deadly serious voice.
"Stuttgart, Germany," an Agent said. "He's not exactly hiding," he continued.
"No, he ain't," Kagome said in thought.
"Captain, My Lady," Furry said to the duo. They both looked at him with a deadly serious look. "Your up," he nodded. Kagome and Steve had mirroring smiles at the command. Kagome rushed out of the room to suit up. Steve did the same thing as she was doing.
"Ready to go, Captain?" Natasha asked as he bordered the Quinjet.
"Yes, ma'am," he said grinning like a schoolboy. "But where is Kagome?" He asked looking around.
"Turn around," she said behind him. He turned around expecting a kimono or something, but not what she was wearing. Kagome's suit hugged her perfectly and made her look more deadly, blue pads of armor were on her shoulders, abandoned, and knees. A bow was strapped to her back with a quiver of arrows, along with a sword resting on her hip.
"Are we going to stand here all day, or are we going to get this show on the road?" Kagome smiled walking past him as she pulled her hair into a high ponytail. "Let's go, Nat," she called going to sit on one of the seats. Steve uncomfortably sat across from her. she quickly noticed his uneasiness.
"Hey Captain, you know my suite is a replica to what the demon slayers in my home country wore. I only changed the coloring, but still exactly to what the women slayers wore," she smiled at his interested look and relaxing of his shoulders. They spent the trip talking about hobbies, history, and this and that. Steve was having a grand old time with her.
"Sorry to break up the chat session love birds, but we are 10 minutes out," Natasha called back to them. Kagome blushed furiously at the comment Natasha made about them being lovebirds. Steve lightly blushed but brushed it off. Kagome got up, and began to stretch, and prepping for a fight.
"Ok, we will drop you off about 5 blocks away," Natasha told them. Kagome pulled up her gas mask. As they hit the ground and the doors opened. They took off into the night. Kagome was shocked that he could keep up with her, and he was equally as shocking as her that she was keeping up. They soon arrived in a courtyard where Loki was preaching to people kneeling. But one old man was standing above them all.
"Look to your elder people. Let him be an example," Loki said pointing his staff at the old man.
"Like hell," Kagome cursed, loosening an arrow as soon as Captain America threw his shield. The shield protected the man, sending Loki's power back at him, but it was mixed with Kagome's arrow sending him flying backward. He quickly caught the shield and began walking towards Loki with Kagome beside him, an arrow already notched.
"You know the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everyone else. We end up disagreeing," Captain said to him taking a slight step in front of Kagome. She noticed it and smiled slightly at the gesture.
Sesshomaru had taught her what to look for in a potential mate/husband.
1. Must be attractive to her.
2. Must get along with and have similar interests.
3. Must be strong, to protect her and any young they might produce.
4. Provide for her.
Though considering she is the only sister of Lord Sesshomaru. She was fine in that department.
'Let's see how he fairs in a fight,' she mentally smiled.
"The soldier," Loki said with disdain. "A man out of time," Loki said then his eyes widened, noticing Kagome. "A Priestess," he said, smirking seductively at her. She glared harshly at Loki's attempts to seduce her.
"You're the one out of time," Steve said as Natasha came down in the Quinjet aiming the guns at Loki.
"Loki drop the weapon, and stand down," Natasha order over the intercom. Loki looked pissed and blasted at the Quinjet. Kagome fired her arrow hitting his hand. She couldn't kill him, because of the Tesseract. Steve went to Loki and began to fight him hand in hand. Loki had him on one knee with the bottom of his staff pushed on his head.
"Kneel," Loki ordered.
"Not today," Steve said grabbing the staff and kicking him. He then was blasted away. Loki turned his attention onto Kagome, leering a bit.
"Oh bring it, trickster," Kagome said, putting her bow on her back and pulling out her sword. She and he met halfway attacking and dodging each other. Loki was a tad bit impressed that she had so much power. Then he saw the mark on her forehead.
'The Shikon Miko?' He mentally asked, shocked. Loki smirked more wickedly, but Kagome rolled her eyes at the look.
'People like him, and their interest in my powers never change,' she mentally sighed.
They split off and Loki went to lunge for her when AC/DC began playing. Kagome groaned knowing what that music meant. Loki has blasted away from Kagome at that moment. The Iron Man landed in between the two of them.
"Make your move Reindeer Games," he said aiming every gun on him at Loki. Loki transformed into his civilian attire. "Good move," he said, lowering his weapons. Kagome's eyes darkened and looking at Loki closely.
"Mr. Stark," Steve said walking up beside him.
"Captain," Tony said. He then turned to Kagome, Who was sheeting her sword. "You young lady are so grounded," he called over to her.
"No way, I am 18 years old. Besides I am working. Geez, dad, cool it," she called lowering her mask.
"Dad?" Loki, Steve, and Natasha asked in surprise.
"Cool it? My daughter is running around in that," He gestures to her suite. "Fighting off Norse mythological gods. You have no idea what you're getting into a young lady. Now we are," he began to order when a star similar to a ninja star flew by his head implanting into the ground.
"First off, shut up," Kagome said coldly. "Secondly do not dis the suite. I designed it after my DEAD best friend suite. Thirdly, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM GETTING INTO? Dad, I have been fighting off monsters that make this guy look like a puppy since I was 15. I have saved the world so many times I can't even count. So back off, and let me do my job," she raged with a fire in her eyes. All the men scooted or took a step back from her. Natasha was smirking in the Quinjet as Kagome ripped into Iron Man.
'There's that famous temper ' she smirked.
"Nat lets go," Kagome said into her earpiece. Natasha landed the inject and opened the hanger door. Steve dragged Loki on board and strapped him in. Kagome watched him closely, not trusting him giving up that easily.
