Apple of Her Eye
Her eyes narrowed in focus Sam sifted through the titles on the shelf. "Come on, I know it's here! Where is it?" She hummed under her breath impatiently until she finally found it. "Yes it's in stock!" She grinned quickly pulling the poetry book from the shelf.
Holding it in her hands she sighed in a pleased way. She'd been wanting to buy this one for her collection for ages now. Mentally patting herself on the back for interrupting Clover, Alex, and her girls shopping trip to pop into this store, Sam walked away to pay for the book and return to her friends.
Only to gasp when someone collided right into her causing her to almost fall flat on her butt and force the book and all her shopping bags to fall to the floor messily.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" The man who had clumsily bumped into her exclaimed as he began rapidly picking up her things for her. Rolling her eyes, Sam couldn't help but be annoyed. But that was only until he held her belongings out to her and she finally saw his face.
Her emerald eyes widening her jaw dropped open. She could not believe her eyes at who was before her. She hadn't seen him since high school. It had been years!
"David?!" She finally said smiling from ear to ear.
His lips pressed into a firm line and he narrowed his eyes as he studied her more carefully. Then just a few seconds later his pale green gaze flashed with recognition while his own lips broke into just as giant of a smile as hers.
"Sam!" He called out laughing in disbelief as he sprung to his feet and immediately pulled her into a hug.
"Imagine running into you here!" David remarked and Sam couldn't help but laugh as she hugged him back and she remembered how they were both bookworms of the highest degree and often used to run into each other at the library at school all the time just like they had here today.
Breaking the hug, David held her by her shoulders as he gave her a one-over. "You're look incredible," he commented leaving her to smile with a small blush on her face at the compliment.
"Thanks. You do too," she admitted because he really did. He'd matured a bit just as she had but he looked just as handsome as always.
David smiled happily as he kept his eyes on her unable to look away. Sam had always been pretty but the years had only made her more so. For some reason she was absolutely glowing.
In the back of his mind he remembered how much he liked to spend time with her in the past. She was always a joy to work with when they were paired together; so smart and always pulling her weight in school projects.
He had also been aware of the obvious crush she'd had on him then but he hadn't pursued it because he had been too busy with his high school extracurriculars and keeping up his grades to get into his dream college with a scholarship. But now...
"Hey listen ... would you like to go get a cup of coffee with me?" He said putting his plan in motion. "I'd love to catch up with you, if you're free?"
Sam's face fell a bit when he said that and she looked down at the shopping bags she held remembering that her friends were waiting. "I'd love to David but maybe another time? Clover and Alex are kinda waiting for me."
Thankfully he didn't seem upset as he just laughed. "I'd expected that you three would still be besties seeing how tight you were back in high school." He waved a hand as if unbothered. "No matter. What if I were to ask you out on a date? Tonight if possible," He said more directly, smiling harder when her eyes widened in surprise. "How about dinner at a nice Italian restaurant? I can pick up around say ... 9 pm?"
Blinking back at him Sam honestly didn't know what to say. David ... David Desanto, her biggest crush from her teenage years wanted to go on a date with her? Now?! She couldn't help shake her head a little at how funny life was.
Knowing he was waiting for her answer she decided to fill him in on a detail he clearly hadn't noticed for himself. The sparkling wedding ring on her finger.
"I'm so sorry David ... I wouldn't be able to." Taking a deep breath in she held up her left hand with a small but bright smile on her face. "I'm married."
He stared at her hand for a long moment before looking at her face. "Oh..." David whispered now pinpointing the source of the palpable halo of happiness that was around her, before clearly looking bummed out at the knowledge that she was taken already but soon rebounding with a quick chuckle and expressing joy over the news just as a good friend would. "Well congratulations Sammie! Who's the lucky guy? Do I know him?"
"Tim," she started, blushing a little as she said his name, her heart fluttering in her chest almost like a reflex. "Tim Scam."
"He was your college boyfriend? A blind date set up by a friend and it became love at first sight?" He guessed. "Or maybe someone your parents chose?" He asked knowing Sam was kinda old fashioned that way and might have gone for it. Well that and the fact that he didn't know anything whatsoever about her husband because he'd never heard that name before and he couldn't help but be curious why.
And Sam quickly realized that David wanted to know about Tim. She couldn't blame him because had he told her he was married, she'd want to know about his spouse too. But her love story with Tim was much too complex and complicated to be summed up in a quick chat like this. If only she had some more time-
Just as she had that thought her phone buzzed in her purse.
"Your husband?" David inquired as Sam glanced at the text she'd received. It was Clover.
GO 4 COFFEE WITH HIM
She glanced around to see Clover with her face pressed against the bookstore window giving her a giant grin and a thumbs up while Alex stood next to her nodding in agreement. Clearly they'd both eavesdropped on at least a portion of her conversation with David. And seeing that they didn't seem to mind extending the pause in their shopping excursion, she didn't see the harm in taking their suggestion.
"On second thought, let's get coffee." Turning back to David she smiled. "I'll tell you more about my husband and you can tell me what's new in your life."
"Sounds like a plan," he nodded in approval walking with her to the checkout and paying for her book as a small gift, saying that he simply had to as a symbolic gesture for missing her wedding when she tried to protest before leading her out to get their drinks.
Around an hour later, as soon as she got within spotting distance Clover practically zoomed over to her with the speed of a marathon runner while Alex slowly tagged behind.
"Okay, fill me in! Fill me in! I want every detail!" She demanded pumping her fists up and down clearly hyper. And as such Sam gave her and Alex a summary of her talk with David. As expected her blue eyes nearly popped out of her sockets when she heard her say that David had asked her on a date.
"OH. MY. GOD," He asked you out? David did?!" She squealed loudly attracting the attention of several mall goers and one other spectator that stood out of sight but in earshot that neither she nor Alex or Sam knew they had. The one that had arrived just some moments before and had quietly tailed behind Sam with a smirk on his face to surprise her with a lunch date in a nearby favourite restaurant of hers that he'd made a reservation for them in.
"OMG OMG OMG!" She repeated over and over almost laughing manically and Sam could tell that she was so pleased with this information because she was thinking of rubbing this in Mandy's face (Clover and Mandy sadly still went at it whenever they ran into each other which happened quite often with them running in the same social circles due to mutual acquaintances and similar interests) since Mandy also crushed super hard on David back in high school. So hearing he was into her would definitely spoil her mood, something Clover lived for.
"Don't get too hyper Clover, I told him I was married," she warned, letting Clover know this wasn't really going to go anywhere significant in terms of making Mandy mad.
At that Clover let out a long sigh and slumped her shoulders. She had gotten so excited at Sam's news over David that she had forgotten all about that part.
"Darn it," she mumbled kicking the floor under her feet in a frustrated way at the missed opportunity before looking at the redhead in a funny way and smirking.
"Still ... you know what this means right? Basically if you'd just waited a few years ... you could have had David."
"I mean ... I guess?" Sam held up her arms and shrugged never taking note of the man who was now listening intently on their conversation with a small frown starting to form on his face.
Rolling her eyes at Sam's unenthusiastic reply, Clover crossed her arms over her chest and huffed. "Oh come on admit it girlfriend! If you could have had David, DAVID," she repeated loudly and dramatically. "You'd be jumping up and down!"
Laughing at Clover's histrionics Sam finally held up her hands in defeat. "Okay calm down! It's true! I would be!" She admitted never seeing her husband's face crumble at her words.
Having had heard enough, Scam bit his cheek to keep his composure before swiftly walking away undetected no longer having much of an appetite or feeling like being around his wife right now.
"Aha I knew it!" Clover exclaimed clapping her hands together triumphantly. "Youuuuu totally still have the hots for David!"
The second she said that Sam held up her hand as if to stop her right then and there because she was seriously getting the wrong idea. "Uh no, I don't." She said firmly.
Her face screwing up in confusion Clover pointed at her in a lost way. "Hold up you just said, and I quote, that you'd be jumping up and down if you could have David."
Nodding her head Sam didn't' deny that she had. "Yes I did say that and I would be if I was say ... 16 year old Samantha." Smiling she shook her head. "But I'm not that Samantha anymore. I'm 21 year old Samantha, and 21 year old Samantha is madly in love with her husband."
"So you don't feel anythingggggg for David anymore?" Clover prodded finding it hard to digest because of how badly Sam had crushed on him in the past just as they all had. "Nothing whatsoever for sweet, sensitive, kind David?" She added, highlighting the core qualities of the man in question that had once drawn Sam to him like a moth to a flame. "Compared to Tim who can be ... how should I put it nicely? Hmm..."
She paused holding her chin before continuing in a sour tone. "Aggressive, fussy, condescending, and a total egotistical jerk?"
Sam frowned hard at Clover's comment and shot a death glare at her best friend making it clear to her that she hadn't liked her saying such mean-spirited things about her man.
"Hey that's my husband you're talking about!" She snapped leaving Clover to hold up her hands defensively and take a small step back.
"Sorry Sammie, but isn't he all those things?" She remarked knowing that just because Sam was in love with him, it didn't mean she couldn't be honest.
"He's not," Sam insisted.
"Oh puhlease, you know he is!" Clover argued right back.
"He's not aggressive, he's passionate," Sam corrected glaring daggers at the blonde. "He's not fussy, he just knows exactly what he wants and how he wants it. And it's not condescending to know your own self worth!"
"Okaaaaaay ..." Clover said in a singsong tone now amused with Sam who was so lovesick she clearly couldn't bear even the slightest of slights against her lover boy.
"But he's not even an egotistical jerk?" She asked giving her a knowing look because Sam hadn't tackled that in her defence of Tim Scam.
Sighing Sam relented. "Okay yes, he is an egotistical jerk, I'll agree with you on that but," she paused pointing back at herself determinedly. "He's MY egotistical jerk, and I love him like that."
"Aww Sammie!" Alex grinned and Sam couldn't help but calm down and then start to blush when she started gushing over her clear and unquestionable love for Tim.
Although now smiling at Sam's adorable expression, Clover still could not get over what she'd learned. "Wow, so you really don't have any interest left in David anymore," she stated with disbelief everywhere in her tone because of how much Sam had once upon a time longed for him to be hers.
But Tim had somehow surpassed that, pulled off what should have been an impossible task. And she realized then that Sam really must love him exactly as much as it seemed like she did.
"Poor David," she laughed and Sam let out an annoyed sound at Clover refusing to drop this dead conversation already.
"He'll get over it," she concluded shortly knowing that David was not the type of guy who would never find someone. Love always showed up announced and unexpected anyway. She would know wouldn't she?
And with that she headed into another store to continue her shopping trip, her friends following and finally off the subject of David Desanto.
"Babe, I'm home!" She announced cheerfully, coming through the door with her arms full of shopping bags. Smiling to herself, she set them down and waited for Tim to greet her. Only a long moment passed and then another but he never did.
"Odd," Sam thought to herself wondering if he wasn't home because if he was there was no way he wouldn't answer her. He did after all have a habit of sweeping her off her feet and kissing her senseless every time she got back from wherever she went without him.
But he had told her that he was going to be free with the meeting Jerry had forced him to oversee around noon. He couldn't still be at WOOHP then.
Had he gone to the gym or something? Glancing at her watch she noticed that it was a bit late for his usual workout routine so she that ruled that out also. Where had her Tim gone off to and without telling her?
"Tim? You here?" She called out, starting to move through the spacious mansion and look for her husband.
Her eyes lit up when she finally found him sitting in the living room in the dark for some reason, dressed in all black with his arms crossed over his chest while he appeared to be, she could only describe it as ... brooding.
She was standing there wondering what was up with his "Dracula routine" this evening when he suddenly seemed to notice her presence. His head whipped up to glance at her for half a millisecond before he looked away and rose to his feet to leave the room not even bothering to acknowledge her.
Even more curious now as to what was up with him due to his out of character behaviour around her, Sam grabbed his wrist to stop him. "Hey you," she purred lovingly, failing to notice how rigid he was as she held him and how his jaw was twitching visibly.
Turning him back around she soon leaned up and gave him a kiss only for him to not respond to it at all. And now she was worried.
"Is something wrong?" Sam asked pulling back and looking at him with concerned eyes.
"I'm fine," he stated finally breaking his silence. But she could tell he wasn't. The way he'd said that, he'd nearly spit it out and his face ... it didn't look happy.
Biting her lip in worry, Sam couldn't help but wonder what had him so upset. He was just fine this morning when she'd last seen him.
"Tim, what's wrong? Did something happen at WOOHP? With Jerry?" She guessed knowing both were possibilities. He was working with a team and he didn't always get along with people especially if they did anything to annoy him (an easy task with one so hard to please) and Jerry sometimes unknowingly did things that also vexed him easily.
He didn't answer as he moved to leave once more, forcing her to grab him again to get his attention back. And this time she easily noticed him tense up again the exact second she touched him. Her heart falling in her chest she tried to keep her hold on him only for him to pluck her hand off his arm coolly and try to exit the room yet again.
Seeing how short he was being, how he'd said just two words to her and wasn't even meeting eyes with her Sam started to wonder if it was her he had the problem with. But why would he be angry with her? Tim never got angry at her. Yet the way he was squirming and looking uncomfortable around her was undeniable.
"Are you mad at ... me?" She finally asked, unable to take the burden of his silence and cruel lack of attention towards her who was normally the center of his existence any longer.
So she'd finally noticed, he thought irritated, the frown on his face becoming even more apparent. He stood in silence listening to her say his name again and again trying to get him to answer her and every time her voice became more and more saddened and frantic.
He was obviously hurting her feelings by ignoring her but he knew no matter how much that hurt her, she couldn't possibly be as wounded by him as he was by her right now. And for good reason.
Unable to keep it in any longer he finally clued her in.
"No, I'm not mad. Why would I be mad?" He snapped, his voice seething. "So my wife who I love with all my heart secretly wishes she married her former crush instead of me, why would that make me mad?"
"..."
He breath catching in her throat sharply, Sam's eyes tripled in size as her jaw fell open.
"Oh god!" She thought, remembering belatedly that Tim had said in passing this morning that he may pop around for lunch with her if Jerry had let him loose early.
But he'd never called to tell her he was there and now she knew exactly why she'd never gotten that phone call from him. He must have shown up without announcing it to surprise her (something he did a lot) and must have heard Clover and her talk about David.
And with how pissed off he was, she had a sinking feeling he'd walked away in a huff without hearing the entire conversation and had drawn the wrong conclusion based on what little he had heard.
"You don't have to look so sorry Sam," he said mistaking her silence as guilt instead of the misery that it was." You were just being real, you know?" He tried saying calmly, trying to project that her words hadn't hurt as bad as a butcher knife straight to the heart, that he wasn't bothered, only for it to come out grumpy and he soon didn't care about trying to hide just how angered he was anymore because he honestly couldn't.
All he could think of was all the times throughout their relationship that she'd told him that he was the love of her life, that he made her happier than anyone ever had. Meanwhile after months of what he'd believed, what she'd had him believe was a seemingly blissful marriage, he'd caught her admit to her friends, her friends and not HIM her husband that it wasn't true. That she wanted some other guy all along.
Injured at that heartbreaking reality he shook his head to himself because he was still in shock. But the words had come from her mouth, he'd heard them with his own ears. There was no denying it.
"Even if it hurts me," he went on. "I'm glad to know what's what and where I stand," he scowled grimly.
"Oh my God, no!" Sam cried desperately finally locating her voice. She couldn't bear how upset was and the knowledge that she had inadvertently caused it. His entire aura had shifted into one of darkness and despair, the way it used to be years ago when they were enemies and it absolutely crushed her to see her Tim like this once more.
All because he was misinformed. She just had to make him hear her out!
"It's not like that! You didn't hear everything that I said! I told Clover that I-"
She was cut off mid sentence when he held up his hand to silence her and she was left pouting sadly, feeling tears prickling her vision at his refusal to even let her talk about this.
"Tim..." she whispered, her heartbreak bleeding into her soft voice as she kept looking at him longingly, begging him with her eyes to please stop and just listen to her.
But soon he breathed out a hushed, "Please just ... please," leaving her to pick up the unsaid "leave me alone" as he turned and walked away leaving her now crying behind him.
A heavy sigh left Sam's lips as she lay in bed fully awake despite it being just past 3 am now.
Tim hadn't said a single word to her since he'd locked himself inside the study after leaving the living room. She'd stood there for a while trying to get him to open the door and let her in but he'd quietly asked her to please leave him be.
She'd then reluctantly left him alone hoping he'd cool off and she could try to tackle his temper again later at night when he came to bed, even wearing the black nightgown of hers he liked most and leaving the light on to tell him she was still waiting for him...
But he'd never shown up. And now after this many hours it didn't seem like he was going to.
And she'd had it. Tim and her NEVER fought and if they had a minor disagreement, they always made up before bedtime. They always shared a bed unless one of them was sick. But for the first time tonight they were not. To say that she was dejected was putting it lightly.
Slightly pulling at her hair as an outlet for her sorrow she couldn't held but blame herself for her part in this.
"If only I had never gone into that stupid bookstore!" She raged but sighed again knowing that she could not turn back time. What was done was done. Which only left her with one option.
Crawling out from under the blankets she reached over to the bedside table and picked up the phone dialing Clover's number who picked up after a few rings clearly enjoying a peaceful night of slumber unlike her.
"Sammie?" Came her groggy voice from the other end. "Why're you calling at-"
"YOU AND YOUR YOU COULD HAVE HAD DAVID NONSENSE!" Sam practically snarled cutting her off.
"What happened?" Clover mumbled in a lost way.
"TIM!" Sam snapped.
"What about him?"
" HE WAS AT THE MALL TODAY! " Sam screamed cluing in a clueless Clover.. "HE HEARD THINGS HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAD TO HEAR! GOT IDEAS INTO HIS HEAD THAT COULDN'T BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!"
"He thinks you're cheating on him with David?" Clover yawned leaving Sam to glare at her so vehemently that she could feel it through the phone.
NO, HE THINKS HE'S A CONSOLATION PRIZE BECAUSE I COULDN'T HAVE THE MAN I REALLY WANTED! THAT HE'S THE SECOND PLACE I SETTLED FOR BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET DAVID!
Laughing at Sam's' words, Clover shook head amused. "Now where did he get a lame-o idea like that from?"
When Sam said nothing she slowly put two and two together as her mind cleared up from sleep. And soon she was bumbling awkwardly.
"Ohhhh wow um ... my bad," she chuckled nervously as she gave herself a small smack on the head for her lack of thought before leaning against the headboard and trying to comfort a clearly upset Sam.
"But it's not a big deal right? He'll calm down."
"We didn't MAKE LOVE tonight!" Sam finally dropped the bomb on her and Clover was rendered speechless at her admission.
"Oh damn ... that's definitely not like Tim," she nodded. This was seriously, serious. Taking a deep breath in Clover continued the conversation. "So what are you gonna do?" She asked wondering how her bestie's first ever marital crisis was going to be resolved.
Only to have Sam give her an earful.
"NOT ME! YOU! IT'S ONLY FAIR SINCE YOU STARTED THIS WHOLE MESS AND TIM WON'T EVEN LET ME TALK TO HIM! YOU ARE GOING TO TALK TO HIM FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING AND SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT!"
"But Sammieeeee," Clover whined only for the redhead to hang up on her. And Clover knew she had to do what she'd ask or she may never talk to her ever again.
"Hi," Clover smiled widely, giving the man before her a harmless wave only for him to roll his sea foam eyes at her so hard they almost came out and slapped her in the face.
"Great, just great," he hissed. "Just the person I wanted to see. Please come in!" He fake welcomed her with sarcasm leaking from every single word.
Walking inside Clover instantly noticed how irate and tense he appeared as he slammed the door shut behind her.
And when she saw the blanket on the couch and how he was stretching to ease his bodily aches, it confirmed to her that he had indeed spent the night there instead of with Sam where he belonged.
This whole David thing ... had really gotten to Tim hadn't it? Shockingly it seemed that even TIM SCAM was not immune to ... jealously. This was almost funny. She'd never thought a guy like him could be ... insecure. That he even had an insecure bone in his entire body. And for a second she forgot why she was here and decided to have some fun with him.
"So you found out about Sammie's feelings for David huh?" She started, smirking when she saw his nostrils flare up like an angry bull at the mere mention of David's name alongside his Sam's.
When he turned his back to her she continued teasing him.
"Oh yea, she totally had it for him bad. She thought he was the smartest guy ever and so athletic and cool. She'd sometimes wear his favourite color; green by the way, for entire weeks to try and get noticed by him. And did you know she even did a hunger strike for him once just to impress him?"
But the moment Scam turned his head over his shoulder and threw her a death glare that silenced her sheerly with how terrifyingly murderous it was, she realized she was going too far.
And as much fun pulling his leg was when he was quietly taking it with no smartass retort to shut her up ... she knew this wasn't fair to Sam who sent her here to talk to her husband and make him see reason.
It also wasn't fair to Scam who honestly looked devastated when she looked past his rage. She'd never seen him look so ... sad before. It bothered her. And if it bothered her of all people, it had to be killing Sam.
"Seriously," she started, finally giving up her charade. "YOU are doubting SAMMIE'S feelings for YOU?!" She screeched incredulously regarding him with disappointed eyes. How could he do this to Sam?
"I mean HELLO! The girl is head over heels, gaga in love, over the moon CRAZY for you!"
"As entertaining as it is to torture you..." she admitted, letting him know that that was what she had been doing so far and hadn't been serious since he clearly couldn't tell for himself based on the waves of fury that were rolling off him in waves. It seemed his brain didn't work when he was mad regardless of how smart he was.
"Let me tell you what Sam actually said to me when I asked her about her feelings for David."
But he stopped her by giving her another glare and stating plainly, "Save your breath, I think I've heard enough," and turning to walk away.
"She talked about you!" Clover said anyway refusing to be ignored.
"'Bout how sorry she was to be stuck with me so she couldn't be with him?" Scam quipped gruffly, smirk on his face but it was a bitter one and not his usual cocky one.
"OH MY GOD!" Clover squealed exasperated, fisting her blonde hair and contemplating hitting him with her purse right upside the head to knock some sense into it. Sam had not been playing when she said he wasn't listening anymore.
"Aren't you SUPPOSED to be a genius or something?!"
"It doesn't take a genius to see what's going on here!"
"Why is he acting like this?" Clover asked herself frowning in frustration. Where was the cool, confident, egotistical jerk that her Sammie had married and she was used to dealing with?
But then she took a long hard look at him and picked up on how he was fiddling with his wedding band on his finger and kept glancing back at the mural of Sam and his wedding portrait that covered the living room wall with a pained look on his face.
And it hit her right then exactly why he was being this way. If any man tried to take Sam away from him, he'd dismember him without any hesitation but if Sam gave him even the tiniest inkling that she herself wanted to be with some other guy ... then he'd let her go. He loved her that much, much more than his own happiness and ego despite how unbelievably massive she knew that was.
Clearly he loved Sam exactly as much as she loved him and Clover knew she had to fix this mess that she'd made and reunite these two lovebirds because they were both downright miserable without each other.
"Yea it doesn't," she tried more calmly. "You misunderstood, plain and simple," Clover explained going over to where he was standing a short distance away from her sulking which was not a good look on him at all.
Wanting to make him stop it she kept talking. "Sammie talked to David about how amazing her husband was, how happy she was to be married to him and she told Alex and I the exact same thing, that she has absolutely zero interest in David anymore because she's far too much in love with YOU."
Knowing he was still unsure when he turned his head away, Clover didn't leave the way she knew he wanted her to. Because she was just as stubborn as he was and was more than willing to go keep harping at him when it was needed like it was right now.
She always did think of him as an annoying older brother ever since he became a part of her life via Sam and right now, he really was living up to the "annoying" part.
"Look.." she sighed tiredly almost at wits end. "If you won't believe words then look at Sammie's eyes and the way she looks at you," she urged looking at their wedding picture as well now where the redhead's eyes were the definition of love as she beamed up at picture Tim, and recalling how her eyes had been yesterday while talking about him, how they always were each and every time he came up every, single day.
Touching his tense shoulder she gave it a reassuring squeeze knowing he needed it right now even if he'd never ask for it.
"It's all right there," she promised him. "Which man, which person she loves most in this whole entire world. That's all you need to focus on Tim ... It's all you need to see," she whispered before leaving him alone to think things through in peace and hopefully realize how much of an idiot he was being about this.
When the door closed Scam stood there with her words weighing on his mind and he found himself glancing at his wedding picture once more.
His eyes zeroed in on his wife's face and slowly, very slowly a small smile of understanding formed on his face. And for the first time ever, something Clover said actually made sense.
"I wonder if they made up," Clover muttered under her breath not being able to focus on the movie that Alex had invited her over to watch tonight with her.
"You know they have," Alex responded giving her a look as if to say that there was no way Sam and Tim weren't going to inevitably be drawn to one another eventually if it hadn't already happened after her pep talk.
"I dunno," Clover mumbled crossing her arms over her chest and huffing as she sank deeper into the fluffy couch cushions behind her and sighed dramatically. "He was acting like a total bonehead when I talked to him! I just … I need to know if I got through his thick skull or not!"
Watching Clover pick up her cell phone from the coffee table and dial Tim and Sam's home number, Alex know that she wouldn't rest until she was sure everything was okay with the two of them. She could also tell that while Clover liked to act like she didn't care about Scam, she definitely did.
Biting her lower lip Clover heard the phone ring once, then twice, then a third time. And soon she was starting to worry that something worse had happened between Sam and Tim in their lover's quarrel.
But finally and on the 12th ring, Scam finally picked up the phone but only long enough to growl an annoyed-sounding "GO AWAY" at her before hanging up. He missed the "end call" key though allowing her to hear the telltale noises of what was going on right now that had him so preoccupied...
The clear and unmistakable moans of Sam taking her husband's name in a voice sore with desire, the smacking sounds of lips meeting again and again passionately, and the bed creaking up and down loudly in the background.
Turning red she disconnected immediately but soon let out a breath of relief glad that everything was back to normal.
"Well?" Alex asked, looking at her in interest after seeing how she'd reacted after making the phone call. "Did they, or not?"
A smile growing her face, Clover soon answered Alex's question with a nod of her head.
"Yea, they did."
Wayyyy longer than I planned it to be x_x *she fails at writing small things* But I really wanted to tackle a jealous Scam since I've done jealous Sam a few times. So it's only fair lol.
Anyway! I hope y'all enjoyed this! Chapter update coming soon hopefully for a certain story that starts with "P" and has 8 letters!
Till next time,
Cres :D
