Hi guys. *waves*

Feeling a little down as of late (sort of over my writing too ugh) so I decided to update something again since it usually helps.

This one's a little more on the somber side, prob because of my own mood lol. But I had this snippet idea while back so I quickly wrote it before I went to bed. Hopefully I didn't make too many errors!

Spazzie: Aww you're welcome. I'm always happy to take ideas and thanks so much for yours! ^-^

Disclaimer: If only TS was mine. *long sigh*

The Only Way I Know How

From the second he stepped into the hospital wing, a pale, shaking, broken version of his usually calm, collected, smiling fiancée was messily crying in his arms.

But seeing the circumstances that he'd been made aware of via text just a few hours ago, he honestly couldn't blame her.

Running his fingers through her messy hair he held her close to himself and tried to comfort her while her mother and the few other family members that could have gotten here as soon as possible after hearing about the accident stood by watching, fear and sorrow etched on all their faces.

"It's okay Sammie..." he whispered to her soothingly as he cuddled her close to his body, letting her lean on him to ease her burdens at least a little bit. "It'll be okay," he promised her.

But the girl in his embrace just shook her head and kept sobbing. Her face muffled into his shirt, she finally choked out some words in between a chorus of anguished sobs moments later.

"The doctor said he's in bad shape Tim. That stupid driver ..." The sadness in her tone made way for raw fury. "He hit him head on. What if..." Sam trailed off, voice faltering once more as she took in a shuddering breath. "Tim... What if dad doesn-"

"Sshhh," He hushed her urgently not even allowing her to finish saying that dreadful thought for fear it may become real as he fished her face out of his chest and made her look him in the eye.

"He will," he told her with steady eyes that urged her to believe him that her father was going to make it though this mess alive. That he just to.

Tim watched her barely register his words as she glanced at the closed door that her poor, injured father was behind and then look away, her lips quivering as her tears fell again.

And this look of sheer helplessness while waiting for potentially, devastating, life-changing news ... was deja vu for him. As much as he tried not to go there, all he could think of was that car accident where he'd lost his own parents forever.

Suddenly he was that five year old boy again pacing around in his living room under the watchful eye of his babysitter as he waited for his parents to come back home only to hear hours later that they never would again.

And he couldn't stand the idea of the past repeating itself again. Not now. Not with her. His Sam couldn't lose her father like this.

His eyes never leaving her miserable face, with every tear she shed and every sad sigh that left her frowning lips, he felt a little piece of his heart crumble into dust. It tore him up to see her look like this. He just wanted to take away her pain but he wasn't sure what to do. In this situation, it seemed all he could do was wait, help her wait, and most of all pray.

Feeling anxious he started to pace, waiting for the inevitable update on her father's state with Sam while hovering close to her, occasionally hugging her and always wiping her tears away as soon as they fell.

It seemed like hours before the doctor emerged to talk to them. Before he approached him, Scam mentally braced himself to hear the same words he'd been told twenty-some years back.

"We're so sorry. Despite our best attempts ... we couldn't save them."

But thankfully the words that came were the ones they'd been hoping for.

"He's out of danger now. He's going to need physiotherapy and some time to recover ... but he's expected to make a full recovery."

Then just like that the nightmare was over.

Cries of relief broke out and smiles soon appeared on faces that had been distressed seconds before. But in the midst of it all he could still hear his Sammie crying her eyes out, clearly still traumatized by this entire event.

And tears of relief or not, he still hated to see her tears.

Even her own mother's assurances didn't seem to aiding her in stopping them. "Hear that Sammie?" He heard Gabby try to get through to her. "Dad's gonna be okay. Come on, smile now sweetie... it's okay."

But yet his Sam continued to sob.

And before he could stop himself he found himself marching right over to her.

Slightly pulling her aside, he held her by her arms and looked at her with dead seriousness all over his face as he asked her what he knew he had to:

"Do you want me to hunt that guy down and run him over?"

His words seemed to break the heavy tension in the air as he heard some laughs break out among her family, clearly assuming he was joking to try to cheer Sam up like a lover would.

But he didn't smile or give his usual smirk, he just stared at Sam endlessly, focused on only her, his lips set in a determined line as he waited for her to answer him.

And when a some seconds later she shook her head no, immediately wiped her tears, gave him a hug and finally smiled-

He knew that she knew that he'd been completely serious about his suggestion.

That had she given him even the slightest nod of her head in response to his query then that guy would already be laying dead in a ditch somewhere regretting ever getting behind the wheel today and causing her the suffering that he had with his lack of thought.

Consequences be damned.

Kinda short I know but I hope someone enjoyed this nonetheless!

Love,

C. Lark :)
