Two years later…
Pepé awoke to his beloved Penelope, who was still asleep. It was Bastille Day, and like the fireworks that would light up the night, his heart pounded.
"Ah, mon petit cabbage du romance…" Pepé stroked Penelope's fur, admiring her sheer beauty as she slept alongside him. "At last, I am yours and you are mine, forever to admire and love, and cherish…"
At that moment, Penny woke up. She smooched the skunk, purring ever so sweetly.
"Pepé, my love, my darling…" the cat spoke. "Do you know what I think?"
"What do you sink, mon amour?" Pepé asked. "You can tell moi…"
"I think I'm pregnant." Penny replied. "It's been so long since I first arrived in France, I don't know how it's possible, but you're going to be a father.."
Pepé's heart swelled with pride at Penny, who now bore their child within her. Like his father said, he'd finally found his joy de vivre. And like his father, he too would teach their future child that everyone should be loved.
