Happy Birthday, Tim Scam
"Ugh! Why is it so impossibly impossible to shop for boys?!" Sam whined, running from store to store while trying to find just the right present.
It had to be something amazing, something suitable for celebrating the important day it was: Tim's first birthday as her husband. She did not want to mess this up especially when he'd told her he didn't really care about his birthday since it had not been celebrated since he was 5 years old, that he'd only let her throw him a small party for the last one because they'd just gotten engaged and he didn't want to break her heart.
After hours of nagging and practically begging him, telling him that while he may not give a damn about the day he was born, to her that day was the equivalent of New Year's, Christmas, and Valentine's Day had she succeeded in wearing him down enough to allow her to give him one gift.
One gift and that was all.
And now that it was time to come up with that one special gift, she was failing miserably. Today was Tim's birthday, in just a few hours he'd be expecting to unwrap his gift ... and she had nothing.
"You guys, what am I gonna do?!" Sam cried out in a panic, her hands holding up various items that could be gifts but her expression showing that she really didn't like any of them enough for her husband.
Alex held her chin in thought for a moment and hummed to herself before she snapped her fingers. "Oooh I know! What about a nice book!"
But Sam shook her head and sighed. "Nah, that wouldn't be anything special. He has so many books," she said remembering the first tour he'd given her of this home and the massive, personal library he had. One that could rival the one in the castle from Beauty and the Beast.
"Hmm... clothing?" Alex suggested next, raising her arms and shrugging as she explained her latest suggestion and why it was different from the book one. "You can never have enough stylish clothes."
"Maybe..." Sam contemplated before her emerald eyes lit up as she caught sight of leather jacket in a nearby display. Racing over to it she stopped in front of the tempered glass. "The embodiment of cool..." She read aloud the glossy words that described it. "This mens Italian leather features a unique chest pocket design and a classic 70's collar shape. One of our most popular vintage jacket styles."
When she was done reading she almost drooled as she imagined Tim wearing it. This jacket might as well have his name written on it, it was that perfect for him.
"Isn't it just fab?!" She squealed, pointing and directing her friends' attention to the coat. "Tim would look amazinnnnng in this!"
"Totally," Clover agreed coming to stand next to Sam before sighing. "But I don't think you should get that for him Sammie."
"... Why not?" Sam asked slowly, turning to look at the blonde in confusion. "It's absolutely perfect," she added not being able to think of even one good reason why she should pass it up. That was until Clover told her exactly why she should not choose this as her gift to him.
"Because as chic as it is, I doubt he's going to want two of them ... I uh. I already bought that as my birthday gift for him," she confessed.
For a moment Sam forgot all about her perfect gift hunt for Tim and looked at Clover with awe in her eyes. "Aww Clover!" She exclaimed happily. "You got Tim a gift?"
"Well duh," Clover muttered crossing her arms over her chest. "He's like totally like my brother-in-law now isn't he?" As she said that Alex nodded from next to her and revealed that not just Clover, but she too had purchased a present for Tim.
"Aww you guys!" Sam sniffed from her feels as she reached out and hugged them both for a long moment, thanking them for treating Tim like family because that meant so much to her. Pulling away from them some time later she sighed when her gaze fell on the jacket again knowing that she was once again back to square one on Tim's special present.
"I officially give up!" She announced throwing her hands up in defeat and sighing dramatically leaving both Alex and Clover to giggle at her predicament before they attempted to cheer her up.
"Oh Sammie," Clover mumbled giving the redhead's shoulder a comforting squeeze. "Girl, I don't know why you're stressing so much about this."
"Because it's for Tim," Sam replied simply and honestly. "And I need it to be perfect. I want to give him something unforgettable. Something that'll show him exactly how much I love him."
"So why don't you just give him what he loves most?" She suggested after listening to Sam's intent for her gift. "Something only a wife or romantic partner can give a guy."
"...What is that?" Sam whispered cluelessly a moment later leaving Clover to smack her forehead at how naive Sam, as smart as she was, could be with things like this. "Umm ... yourself?" She responded wondering if Sam would catch her drift only to find her standing there blinking at her in disconnect.
Sighing again she decided to paint a picture for her and jerked her shoulder towards a store to their direct left: A Victoria's Secret.
Immediately Sam's face caught flame and burned up until it flushed a bright and deep red at the sight of the lingerie shop, finally getting what Clover was telling her to do.
"You just want Sammie to be like you don't you?" Alex tsked shaking her head as if to say she was on to Clover but the blonde just huffed and held a hand against her heart to show she was being sincere.
"Oh puh-lease! You know that this is what most guys like!" She defended herself, turning her nose up. "I've been using it for years on countless different guys and no one everrrrrr gets tired of it! I'm telling you it's the best option."
"Well maybe for you," Alex teased, winking as she wagged a finger in the air. "But Sammie has wayyyyyy more class!"
"Hey you take that back!" Clover screeched indignantly, her blue eyes narrowed into slits of rage as she balled up a fist towards Alex in a silent threat.
"Make me," Alex retorted sticking her tongue out at her and giggling before racing away leaving the blonde to growl and proceed to chase after her to make her pay.
When they were gone Sam shook her head in amusement at their childishness before resuming her search. But throughout the rest of her shopping trip she was unable to get Clover's gift idea out of her head.
"I hate it," Sam finally decided as she stared down at the watch in her hands, the gift she'd finally chosen from the mall and frowned gingerly. The watch, while nice wasn't something that would blow Tim's mind and convince him to let her celebrate his birthday every year without protest from now on.
Sighing heavily she tossed it on the mattress and groaned as she started to pace. There had to be something else she could do to make a real impression on him. Something he'd actually like being given. Something-
Suddenly she paused as she caught sight of the closet and Clover's words came back to her as she remembered something she had hidden away in there...
"Why don't you give him what he loves most ... yourself."
Blushing again Sam wondered if perhaps Clover was right. And with so little time left till Tim got back what other option did she have but to go for it?
Her mind made up she walked over and ripped open the doors proceeding to go to the very back to locate what she was looking for. After ten minutes of searching she found it. It was sitting there on a shelf intentionally concealed under an over-sized sun hat, the box it was contained in still half covered in neon pink wrapping paper just as she'd left it when she'd received it on her bridal shower unsurprisingly by Clover herself.
Retrieving it from the closet she walked over to her bed and fully unwrapped the box. Tugging off the leftover wrap and detaching the tag signed with "Have fun with this, xoxo Clover" she opened the box and took out its contents to reveal a long chemise.
It was red in color and made of silky, smooth satin with a black, delicate, floral lace trim, a thigh-high slit, cross over straps and a cute keyhole detail at the back. Clover had gone out of her way to choose something in her husband's favorite colors, a fact that had made her gasp and blush hard enough to make all her shower guests laugh at her reaction upon seeing it.
Smiling at that memory she ran her fingers over the garment before doing something she never had before and deciding to try it on.
Freeing her body of the skirt and blouse she wore she took her time putting on the lingerie, making sure to smooth out any creases in the supple cloth before she walked over to floor-length mirror holding her breath as she glanced at her reflection.
Her eyes widened when she saw herself, stunned that something Clover had picked out which was way racier than her usual style looked so good on her. She'd expected herself to look terrible in something like this but … she actually didn't.
The chemise hugged her figure perfectly, emphasizing it in all the right places and the dark duo of its colors contrasted wonderfully against her pale skin. Even better was how it made her feel; sexy and confident and surprisingly elegant. She tried to imagine the look on Tim's face at seeing her in this and her heart raced with anticipation while her whole body tingled with excitement.
Sucking in her breath she glanced at the vintage clock on the bedroom wall. Exactly one hour till he got back. And she knew that if she was going to really do this than she still had some work to do.
"Darlin', I'm home," Scam called out as he stepped inside his home only to find it completely dark. All the lights of the mansion were turned out. Was Sam not here?
"Sammie?" He said confused for a moment until he saw the only source of light. It was on the floor. There were candles lighting up his path. And when he counted them he realized there were exactly as many as years he had spent on this earth.
His attention now caught, in suspense he began to follow the trail. The last candle led him right up to the door of the bedroom and he could see the dim glow of more candles coming from inside through the door which had been left open just a crack for him.
"Samantha ... what are you up to?" He thought smiling now as he stood there for a moment before hearing his wife's voice telling him to enter having heard his footsteps.
Opening the door all the way he stepped inside only to freeze in place when he saw what awaited him. His eyes went wide as he noticed everything all at once. The hundreds of candles, the rose petals, the soft music.
But the thing that captured all his attention: His Sam sitting there on their bed, her hands folded in her lap, beautiful and blushing as vibrant a red as the color of the lingerie she wore.
"...Is this my birthday gift?" He slowly asked her, putting two and two together with the extra mile she'd gone to and battling to keep his face impassive and hide his smile.
She nodded, clearly nervous at his seeming lack of a reaction, now worried that maybe this hadn't been the right choice after all.
"I-I wasn't sure what to get you," she stammered, her voice cracking a little. "So I thought that maybe..." She trailed off, her blush only getting darker as he still stood there in the doorway not saying anything just staring at her endlessly.
And with every second that passed in silence Sam started to wonder if she'd messed this up.
Were scented candles dumb? Was music a bad idea? Maybe the rose petals were going too far even though she appreciated it whenever he (always) did something like that for her. But Tim was a guy so maybe ambiance wasn't all that important to him. She gulped dryly. What if it was actually a turn-off?
Feeling silly now she squirmed and tucked a lock of her hair, which was left loose because she knew he liked it best that way, behind her ear. Lowering her gaze from his all the way down to his feet, too embarrassed to look him in the eye right now she blushed harder as she whispered, "I'm sorry. You're just so much better at this romantic stuff than I am."
Finally he chuckled before he went over to her, smiling openly at how cute he found her thinking that his utter speechlessness at her surprise meant that he hadn't liked it, when in truth he was just trying to find his voice again to tell her just how much he did.
"Oh I don't know about that Sammie," He started making her look up at him again. And when she did he shrugged his broad shoulders at her and winked. "As hot as I am, and as much as I work out ... I still don't think I'd look anywhere as good as you do if I was wearing that lingerie."
Just as the those words left his mouth the tension in the air broke and Sam started giggling hard. And that was it, the only thing that had been missing; her laughter. That was when he found her to be the most beautiful, irresistible.
Reaching down he grabbed her arm and pulled her straight into his embrace, more than ready to enjoy his birthday gift.
Feeling his muscular arms tighten around her slender waist and watching his ocean eyes darken as if they held back a storm in them, Sam stopped laughing and bit her lip. "Sooo I take it that you like your gift then?" She whispered, wanting to be one hundred percent sure.
"Mmhmm," he hummed, his hands quickly removing what little she wore before he lifted her up, carrying her bridal style during their short trip to the bed.
"In fact..." he whispered putting her down on the mattress. "I like it so much that I'm considering letting you celebrate all of my past birthdays that I didn't do anything for."
He grinned wolfishly down at her as she lay there naked. "All twenty-some of them."
Sam blushed hard, her cheeks turning into hot pancakes at what he was implying. "Let's just take it one at a time," she mumbled leaving him to throw his head back and laugh before he undressed and got into the bed with her, immediately seizing her bare body close to his own under the blankets.
"Happy Birthday Tim," Sam murmured against his lips, smiling.
In response he smirked hard against her own and whispered huskily, "Happy Birthday to me indeed."
Just some more Sam/Scam cuteness as there is never enough!
Till next time,
Lark :)
