A Kodak Moment
"Well, did you do it yet? Did you get them?!"
"Yes Sam, I got them."
Sam's eyes lit up when she saw that he was holding an envelope out to her. Letting out an excited giggle she snatched it from him and quickly sat down on the couch.
"Finally! I have been dyinnnnng to see these!" She almost squealed as she eagerly opened it up. Every day since they'd gotten back from their honeymoon (3 days ago) she'd been badgering him to go get the pictures he'd taken developed.
Tim had quite the knack for photography, something she'd learned from the few snaps he'd taken of her and her friends at their graduation. In fact Clover had been so blown away by his skill that she'd gotten him the best camera on the market, a Nikon - D750 as a wedding gift. So when time had come for their honeymoon in scenic Hawaii, Sam had immediately put him in charge of taking photos. To say that she was hyper to see what he'd managed to capture would be a massive understatement.
Lifting the edge she carefully pulled the stack of pictures out, getting even more excited when she saw how many he'd taken. There had to be well over 300 photographs in here! Adjusting a cushion so it was supporting her lower back Sam sank back into the couch making herself comfy as she started going through them.
She smiled when she saw the first picture, instantly remembering the relaxing moment when it was taken. There she was all tan standing barefoot in a white, asymmetric, cut-out swimsuit by the waves of the ocean near the resort they'd stayed at. The shot was zoomed in on her and she could be seen wearing an oversized sunhat and had one hand up shielding her face from the sun while a huge smile was on her lips as the ocean breeze tangled her long hair.
Moving onto the next photograph she smiled anew. This one was taken at the famous Waimea Canyon at the top of the cliff. They'd hiked their way up there and this shot showed her face, full of astonishment as she looked down into the 3,600 foot depth of the canyon. The vibrant colors of the sky above were present but just for a glimpse as the picture was mostly focused on capturing her face and the reaction on it more than what had caused that reaction in the first place.
Hoping the next one captured more of the scenery, Sam went on to picture three only to have her eyes narrow when she saw that again the picture featured only a close-up of herself. And the more pictures she looked at, that more she noticed this pattern. Every single photograph was just her. Not the location, not Tim with her, not anyone in the background ... just her.
Confused now she started to go through the pictures more hastily but each one she looked at showed her the exact same thing. When she'd gotten through a good chunk she stopped and looked up at her husband completely puzzled. "Tim ... where are the pictures of all the places we went to?"
"Uh ... what places?" He asked her sounding clueless.
She stared at him with her eyes narrowed not understanding his question. They'd just been back for a few days and he couldn't have forgotten all the incredible spots in Hawaii that they had seen.
"Wailua Falls?" Sam started hoping to jog his memory. He had to remember seeing them at the peak of their beauty at dawn and then taking a swim with her there. "The Molokai sea cliffs?" She said next, referencing another unforgettable experience they'd had together of seeing one of the most majestic sights in the world. "The Glass Beach in Kauai?" She continued knowing she could personally never forget it. Being a huge art enthusiast she had been mesmerized seeing the accumulation of sea glass that had washed up there. "Or Puu Pehe?" She said using the real name for the iconic Lanai landmark known as Sweetheart Rock to foreigners that stood out in her memory not only for it being totally picturesque but for its folklore of a tragic love story that had tugged at her heart strings when she'd heard it from a local.
But Tim just stood there shrugging and looking like he had absolutely zero idea as to what she was harping on and on about.
Now agitated she sighed heavily holding her forehead in a stressed way. "Tim, where are they? I expressly told you to take pictures of those places and like sooo many more!" Frowning she knew she needed those photos after she'd boasted so much to everyone how stunning Hawaii was and how much she'd enjoyed her long honeymoon there. She'd built up her experience so much to her mother, her aunts, her cousins, and especially Clover, Alex, and Britney after which they had been bubbling in excitement for her honeymoon pictures. They were expecting to see them!
"Uh no you didn't," he argued leaving her roll her eyes. Since when did he have bad memory? She distinctly remembered telling him while she'd packed his camera into a carry-on bag.
"YES I DID!" she argued back. "I said and I quote..." she held up a finger as she repeated the words. "Tim, please make sure to take pictures of the most beautiful sights you see while we're in Hawaii."
Sitting next to her on the couch he shrugged again as if not seeing what the big deal was. "Yea," he insisted. "And I did."
Face screwed up Sam just stared at him in disconnect until he pointed down at the pictures of her that were now in her lap. "...You're looking at them."
Finally seeing what he meant, slowly her face turned pink and she couldn't fight her smile. "Even more beautiful than The Seven Sacred Pools and the Banzai Pipeline?" She asked, citing her two most favorite places that she'd seen while on their trip.
"What Sacred Pools and Pipeline?" He responded cocking his head to the side and smirking to say to her that when she was with him, she was all that he paid any attention to.
Her face became redder at his endless charm that she had no defense against. Squirming a little in her seat she opened her mouth and blew some air into her face to cool it off, wanting so badly to stop blushing so hard because Tim was smiling way too much at her reaction right now.
Forcing a frown on her face as she remembered the dilemma he'd placed her in, she mumbled displeased. As cute as it was, him being all lovey dovey with her (as usual) she'd really wanted pictures of Hawaii to show off which she now didn't have.
"Tim, you know my friends and family are all going to be here in exactly 10 minutes to see these pictures." Today was the day that she'd asked them all to come over so she could tell them about her amazing honeymoon in person, give them the souvenirs she'd purchased for them, and most importantly show them the photographs immortalizing her experience. "And what am I gonna show them now?" She whined gesturing to the pictures of herself with her hands. " I can't show them these!"
These pictures didn't offer any of the views she'd promised them. Annoyed she stuffed the pictures back into their envelope, slightly lifted the sofa seat she sat on and shoved them under it to hide them from view.
Not to mention the jokes they'd make if they ever saw them. They all already teased her too much about her husband's clinginess to her and clear level of lovesickness with her. The last thing she needed was for them (especially Clover) to find out that he'd taken an album worth of pictures of just her on their honeymoon.
Pouting now she placed her face in her palms and her elbows on her knees as she sat there miffed. She stayed that way not looking at her husband at all until she saw that he was now dangling something in front of her face.
It was another envelope.
He did that for a few trying to get her attention back and she responded by saying nothing, simply growling under her breath like an angry kitten and pushing his hand away from her silently telling him to knock it off. But he didn't give up and soon she was irritated enough to just snatch it from his hand. Whatever was in this, Tim clearly wasn't going to stop waving it at her until she looked at it.
Although highly doubting that it would help change her bad mood, she opened it. But when she finally broke the seal and peeked inside she was left grinning. There were pictures upon pictures capturing Hawaii's endless beauty, of all the sights and views she wanted to show everyone!
"Where did you get these?!" She asked him astonished. He'd clearly spent all his time taking pictures of her so then who had taken these ones?"
She watched him smirk widely as he leaned back on the couch and stretched his arms along its edge. "I may have hired a top, professional photographer to follow us around on our honeymoon so that you could get those scenic shots of Hawaii that you wanted."
"WHAT?!" Sam shouted in glee, forgetting the photographs for a second as she threw herself on him and hugged him tightly all the while grinning from ear to ear. "Aww Tim! I love you!"
Breaking the hug soon after, she thanked him for what he'd secretly done for her. "Thank you so much," she murmured as she pecked him on the cheek before returning to look at her island photos.
From her peripheral vision she saw Tim roll his eyes and frown in a jilted looking way. "I crank out over 500 dollars per hour to get these pictures taken for you and all I get is a hug and a kiss on the cheek?" He grumbled leaving her to laugh at his sour tone. He sounded so cheated. Clearly he'd been looking for a much more expressive thank you from her for this.
"Wellllll," Sam shrugged playfully as she spoke in a singsong tone. "Seeing that everyone is gonna be over in about 5 minutes now..." her emerald eyes glanced at the clock on the living room wall. "That's all you're going to get," she informed him ending his hopes and fantasies right there because she would not be giving her expected guests a show.
"Well how about you just thank me later then?" Tim suggested unwilling to give up on receiving the gratitude he'd decided he'd earned from her.
"I can probably manage that," Sam told him as she held the photographs back up to her face and went back to looking at them. "If you can figure out what you want me to do to thank you," She added watching his face from the corner of her eye. The second those words left her lips, just as she'd anticipated his eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning.
"Oh I know just what I want you to do to thank me Sammie," he drawled huskily in reply, leaning closer to her on the couch so that his body was touching hers. Sam turned towards him again, their noses just an inch apart now as she boldly looked him in the eye. "What?" She asked wanting to know just what he had in mind.
Tim didn't answer her for a second as he just reached out and stroked her hair, bringing himself even closer to her so that his lips were almost touching her own when he finally answered her. "I want you to do… exactly what you're doing in the 113th photograph."
His cryptic demand left her curious. "Hmm?" She hummed a little disoriented from his closeness to her. His spicy cologne and the natural scent of his body was overpowering her ability to think right now. "And what's that?" She inquired not having looked at all the pictures he'd taken of her, just the first 50 or so out of the 300 plus there were.
But he didn't give her any clue and just smirked at her a little evilly if she were honest. "Well that's something for you to discover sweetheart," was all he said before he got up to leave. He was going to do some work in the Weapons lab at WOOHP while Sam had her little get together, having no interest in the show and tell as he'd already lived the live moments with her.
As he reached the door he heard her voice again, all jumpy and a little afraid behind him. And Scam could not help but smirk again as he detected the gulp in her voice when she spoke to him.
"Tim... What exactly am I doing in that picture?"
Turning his head over his shoulder he just gave her a sweet and overly harmless looking smile. "Why don't you just look for yourself baby?" He suggested before winking at her just before he stepped outside leaving her now beyond nervous.
When the door closed Sam's head whipped back around in the direction of the couch to look right at the place where she'd buried that envelope. Biting her lip she slowly, reluctantly tiptoed towards it.
"I shouldn't ... I really shouldn't look," She cautioned herself because something in her gut and that sly, little wink he'd given her before exiting told her that she was going to die from shame when she saw it.
Tim only ever looked like that when he'd pulled something major on her, by now she knew enough how to read his spectrum of uniquely, devilish facial expressions.
And there were only three minutes left till everyone arrived so this was definitely not a good idea to do this now. But ... she was curious. She always had been someone who could not tolerate not knowing things and as such she found herself racing over to the couch.
Unable to help herself she hastily tugged it out and started leafing through it for the picture of her that he'd mentioned.
"113th photograph... the 113th photograph,"She repeated to herself over and over under her breath as she searched. Had he gotten the picture wrong, she wondered to herself. She didn't see anything too bad yet.
But then she stopped dead when she reached the number he'd told her. Her face transformed into a literal ripe tomato while her eyes nearly popped out of her sockets. Her jaw fell to the floor and she half-gasped, half-squeaked nearly dropping the glossy image she held from shock at what she'd been clearly captured doing in it.
Steam shot out of her ears and hyperventilating, she picked up her cell phone and dialed Tim immediately.
Scam had just gotten inside his car and strapped on his seat belt when he heard the sound of an incoming phone call. Glancing over at his cell sitting in the magnetic phone mount, his lip curled into a smirk as he saw that it was Sam calling him.
And somehow he just knew that she hadn't waited till after her guests came and left to look at that photograph. No, she'd definitely already seen it and when he answered her that was at once confirmed as his eardrums were blasted with her outraged and vehement screech.
"TIMOTHY DEREK SCAM!"
His brown eyebrows shot up in amusement at her using his full name to yell at him while his smirk only grew larger and larger on his face. His Sammie must have really enjoyed his little surprise.
"Y-YOU DAMN PERVERT!" He heard her rage only screaming more and more, her voice now echoing throughout the inside of his car as he listened to her demand to know how exactly he'd obtained this photo of her in that position doing that without her noticing at all.
And he just threw his head back and laughed with his whole body, listening to sounds of his lovely missus continuing to call him a creep, utterly shameless, and a total jerk among other choice names as he drove off towards WOOHP thoroughly entertained during his journey by Sam's lively reaction to the latest stunt he'd pulled on her.
God ... he loved his married life.
I wonder what Sammie was doing in the picture that Scam secretly took of her. Any guesses? xD I thought it might be more fun for you guys to fill in the blank there lol.
Anyway Christmas story is coming I promise! I just wrote this here to tell y'all that I'm still alive and writing hehe. I will try my very best to have that done in January at the latest or else it'll be Valentine's and then it won't make sense xD
Love Always,
Cres :)
