Lilo: (Weakly chuckles) I would go check on several cousins for the day, some other cousins the next day and so on, otherwise I'd be crazy if I did check all of them at once, but enough to make sure they're happy, you know? Stitch used to go with me...

Gio: Oh...w-would you like me to go with you sometime?

Lilo: Oh, that would be great! There's still some hours of sunlight left...I could use some fresh air...

Gio (grins): Anytime you want, even now, will do! (gets up)

Lilo: Really? Thank you! (Closes the book) Let's go!

(The scene cuts to them both outside in town later on, with the first of many stops being the snack stand that Frenchfry worked at...)

Gio (walks up): Aloha!

Frenchfry: Aloha! Eez nice to zee you, cousins Gio and Leelo! Want snack, either of you?

Lilo: No, thank you, we're passing by, Frenchfry. Just checking in.

Frenchfry: (Nods) Meega understand. Gio, snack?

Gio: Hmmm...just a large order of regular fries.

Frenchfry: Oui! (Whips around to grab latest oil fryer strainer, bringing out a bowl, and dropped the steaming fries into the bowl, cooling them slightly) Cayenne seasoning or plain salt?

Gio: Plain salt, please.

Frenchfry: (Nods) Oui. (Grabs large salt shaker, and got some shakes out of it, sprinkling the fries as Frenchfry rolled the bowl back and forward, covering the fries properly before stopping and grabbing tongs as he set the bowl down, and grabbed one from the large set of paper containers, and filled the container with a proper amount of fries, and smiles as he hands it to Gio, along with a napkin.) On the house, cousin!

Gio: Oh, thanks! (takes it)

Lilo: See you around, Frenchfry! Come on, Gio! You can eat while walking, can you?

Gio: Oh, yes, I can. Lilo, don't imply that I can't!

Lilo: (Giggles) Oh, I know. (Waves) Bye!

Frenchfry: (Waves) Bye, cousins. No being strangerz!

Gio: You pick the next one to check up on, Lilo!

Lilo: Let's check on Cannonball!

Gio: You mean that wave alien?

Lilo: (Grins) Yep! We gotta check on his beach where he works. He's one of my favorites. (Smiles fondly)

Gio: And is that because you love the beach?

Lilo: (Giggles) Oh, yeah! Come on!

(The scene cuts to Gio and Lilo both arriving at the beach...)

Gio: So...where is he?

Lilo: (Grins) You will see. (Takes deep breath and calls out loudly) Cannonball, ready to make a splash?!

(A thrilling squeak answers her, and she turns around slightly, looking up to see Cannonball atop a palm tree, waving with a wide smile)

Cannonball: Aloha! (He giggles before tensing up, sticking his tongue out of his mouth, and then with release of tension from legs, he jumps far in a arc, going into the water with a wide splash, forming into a big wave which several surfers take upon, gliding and curving professionally)

Gio (claps): Well done, Cannonball!

Cannonball: (Trudges into beach, shaking water off his fur) Waka youga here?

Lilo: Ah, just a routine check like any other week. How have you been, Cannonball? Kids and grownups enjoying your waves?

Cannonball: Ih. Meega happy! Aloha, Gio!

Gio: Aloha, Cannonball!

Cannonball: Heard youga compliment. Youga think wave was good?

Gio: Oh, it was AMAZING!

Cannonball: (Blushes) Taka youga. (Hears local surfers talking and wishing for another wicked wave some distance away) Meega go work. Youga two have good day! (Smiles widely as he bounces off to the nearby rocky cliff to do his work, cannonball style)

Lilo: He's very happy, that's for sure. Your pick, Gio! (Turns around with hum of satisfaction, leaving beach with Gio following besides her)

Gio: Hmm...Oh, Slick! Let's go visit him!

Lilo: (Giggles softly) That's a good pick! Let's go check on him.

(The scene cuts to show Gio and Lilo entering a massive gift shop within the town called "Slick's Tourist Palace"...)

Slick: (Finishing up at the register with a customer) Thank you for visiting Slick's Tourist Palace! Please come again!

Customer: Thanks! (Leaves desk with register, passing by Gio and Lilo)

Lilo: Slick!

Slick: Lilo! Gio! Ages since I last saw you both!

Lilo: (Giggles) Come on, dinner last week wasn't ages, Slick!

Gio (shakes his hand): Hey, Slick! Say, remember when I first met you?

Slick: Oh, I indeed do! Have you been using those swim shorts from that day?

Gio: I sure have!

Slick: That's great to hear, man! I gotta admit, you sure gave me a chance to be who I am, and now I am much popular around here. Who knew that I'd be the owner of this wonderful store after many successful days at the summer weekend fair?

Gio: Well, what's important is that you did make it here in the end!

Slick: True dat, Gio. Care to get a little souvenir from here? It's on the house, ohana!

Lilo: No, thank you, Slick. We better get going. I wanna check on one more cousin before dinner time. Gio?

Gio: I'll take a free gift, Slick! So, I just grab anything I like?

Slick: (Winks) Yep.

Gio (looks around): Hmmm...let's see...(Sees MASSIVE "Lego Millennium Falcon" set for $800) I'll take this! (grabs it)

Slick: Excellent pick, cousin! Be sure to send me a couple pictures when you finish with the last Lego piece, eh?

Gio: Sure thing! (shakes his hand)

Slick: See you two at the party!

Lilo: Yeah...It will be nice to have you there to send Gio off...Come on, Gio, let's get out of here.

Slick: Alright, see you then! (Waves good-bye to the duo as they waved back, walking out of the store)

Lilo: Where are you gonna display that at your place in the city when you're done? (Gestures to the Lego set)

Gio: Oh, I'm displaying it in my bedroom on a shelf. It'll look nice there!

Lilo: Awesome. We have time for one more cousin. Wanna visit Fibber?

Gio: Sure! Let's go!

(The scene cuts to the duo walking into the police station, and the front desk woman notices them)

Front Desk Woman: Aloha, Lilo. Hello, Gio. If you're looking for Fibber, you may have to wait a bit. He and one of the cops are interrogating a stupid tourist.

Gio: Fine, we will wait. (to Lilo) Come on, Lilo. (sits on nearby cushioned bench)

Lilo: Alright. (Looks over to the front desk) Could you share a bit of what happened?

Front Desk Woman: Well, I suppose I could tell you a bit of what I witnessed earlier. I was in the middle of my lunch break when they came in. The chief and one of our cops brought the tourist in. She was ranting about how it's stupid to have a permit for mongooses.

Gio: Could we both witness this interrogation?

Front Desk Woman: Afraid not as you're not officers. It's not allowed for civilians to witness interrogations. And besides, I cannot lose this job. I have respect for you two, believe me, but I do not want trouble.

Gio (folds arms): You know I have connections of my own, right?

Front Desk Woman: I do know that, but please wait patiently for Fibber. I know him well, and he's bound to be done within a couple of minutes by now as he had been in there for 20 minutes. After all, his beeper could be quite a record-breaker those days.

Lilo: Gio, I think you gotta listen to her.

Gio: Ugh...Fine.

(After a couple of minutes, distant chatter approached the sitting room, and entered the chief and Fibber)

Chief: Thank you, Fibber. That lady sure was dramatic, but you did a great job finding lies in her ranting session.

Fibber: (Smiles and gives a thrilling purr, and then perks up as he sees Gio and Lilo, waving with a wide grin)

Lilo: Aloha, Fibber!

Chief: Ah, I see. Well, I am gonna head to my office, Fibber, and make some calls to Koki's restaurant. You want the usual?

Fibber: (Nods with a squeaking beep)

Chief: Sure, I can grab some pie as well. Apple or coconut?

Fibber: (Holds up a finger)

Chief: Apple, got it. I'll leave you then. (Nods to Lilo and Gio) Good day, you two. (Leaves the sitting room to head to his office)

Fibber: (Beeps out a sound that similarly sounds like how you say 'Aloha')

Lilo: Hey, Fibber, you're looking good. We're just checking around. Usual cousin routine. Right, Gio?

Gio: We sure are, Lilo! (to Fibber) Well, how are ya?! (holds out hand)

Fibber: (Shakes Gio's hand with one hand while his other hand forms into a thumbs up, smiling widely)

Gio: Say...I robbed a bank!

Fibber: (Opens mouth and his beeper sounds out)

Lilo: He's sharp as ever! Great job, Fibber!

Fibber: (Blushes)

Gio: I...stabbed a man!

Fibber: (Buzzes even more louder and sharper)

Lilo: Okay, I think he gets it now, Gio! Quit testing him out. He's gotta be a little tired from all that interrogating, right, Fibber?

Fibber: (Nods with a slight smirk)

Gio: Oh, okay...sorry about that, Fibber.

Lilo: Well, Fibber, looks like you've got it good around here. I and Gio better head home. You're gonna be there for Gio's party, yeah?

Fibber: (Nods with a thrilling giggle)

Lilo: See you later, Fibber! (Hugs Fibber and Fibber hugs back with a purr until Lilo lets go)

Fibber: (Holds up fist, tilting his head toward Gio)

Lilo: Fist bump. (Rolls eyes bemusedly) Boys.

Gio (Gives fist bump)

Fibber: (Chuckles warmly and waves goodbye)

Lilo: Bye, Fibber! (Heads out to door, hand resting on handle while waiting for Gio to say his part)

Gio: See ya!

(The scene cuts back to Gio and Lilo both back at the home, where it was now 5:00 pm, and Gio was inside the kitchen, preparing a basic dinner of T-bone steaks, mashed potatoes, and creamed okra...)

Gio (grilling the steaks): Hey Lilo, how do you want your steak cooked?

Lilo: (Sighs) Just cooked, Gio...

Nani: (Looks at Gio with a helpless shrug, recognizing that Lilo's back to her sad mood.) We'll take medium rare, Gio.

Gio: Oh, thanks...(continues grilling) I'm...kind of sad that I'm leaving in 5 days. I was just getting used to it here!

Nani: (Smiles softly) The summer sure went fast, didn't it?

Gio: Sure did...and then 10 days later, I'm back in school.

Lilo: Could you please stop talking about it?!

Nani: Lilo!

Lilo: I don't want to think about it...

Nani: (Blinks in surprise and looks at Gio who paused in flipping)

Gio: I...I...b-better check on the okra...(walks over to the stove)

Nani: (Tries to think and remembers something) Lilo, you want milk or fizzy pop?

Lilo: Water is fine.

Nani: (Sighs softly and heads to refrigerator, pulling out water pitcher, and fills one of the glasses on counter, placing the pitcher in the corner while looks at Gio, whispering lowly) She's really feeling low. She usually asks for milk, while asking for fizzy pop occasionally. If I know her well, and I do, she's bound for bed way early than normal. Looks like no movie after dinner...

Gio (nods): I know.

Nani: She will bounce back randomly through I am very positive she will not ignore the party atmosphere later this week. After all, she's the kind of person who doesn't want any family to notice that she's sad on the inside.

Gio: Oh...I hope so too, Nani.

Nani: Yeah...Come on, let's get some food in ourselves. They done now to eat?

Gio: Almost...(begins to plate food up)

Nani: (Nods and walks back to the table, carrying two glasses of water, figuring that Gio will choose his drink, and heads back again to grab forks and knives carefully while grabbing plates out from the cabinet, and heads back to the table for the last time, putting down the silverware and plates.)

Gio (takes seat): Lilo...d-dinner is ready?

Lilo: (Nods slowly) Okay. (Scoops small portions of the okra and mashed potatoes and forks over a half portion of a T-bone steak)

Nani: (Shrugs at Gio's look of inquiry) It looks good, Gio. (Scoops healthy portions of the okra and mashed potatoes, forking over a big portion of another steak)

Gio: Oh, thanks, Nani!

(And so, dinner went quietly with a few snippets of words here and there, with Lilo not noticing either Gio or Nani's looks when she asked to be excused after only finishing her first servings, not even going for seconds.)

Nani: Yeah, of course, you are excused to go.

Lilo: Thanks. (Gets up, heading to the bathroom, and eventually goes to bed after her routine in the bathroom)

Nani: First time I ever seen Lilo refuse to have seconds of your food...

Gio: Oh, Nani...I know why, but I'm not going to say it.

Nani: Yeah...I hear you there...Honestly, I can manage to have a second serving of mashed potatoes, but her eyes, that look put me off somewhat...I don't blame her...It must feel like forever to her instead of only a day...so far...

Gio: Well, if she's going to feel depressed after getting used to everyone, living together for such a long time.

Nani: You have to understand that it has been three years. It may seem like a short time to you or me, but to her, it was such a long time.

Gio: Well... I understand, it wasn't until this summer when I was told that I was going to come see you.

Nani: (Chuckles) I suppose it became the best summer of your life, huh?

Gio: It is...(nods): It...really has been.

Nani: (Smiles) Come on, let's get some containers for the leftovers. Believe it or not, I was restless last night, and I need all the sleep I could get tonight.

Nani: (Smiles) Come on, let's get some containers for the leftovers. Believe it or not, I was restless last night, and I need all the sleep I could get tonight.

Gio (nods): Sure, I'll help! (gets up and goes to help her)

(And so, the duo went to work, putting the leftovers into some containers, and a while later, after wishing each other good dreams, Nani and Gio split up in the hallway to their rooms, proceeding to change into pajamas and do their bathroom routines.)

Gio (sighs): Just 4 days left...(yawns) I...I can't believe it...(shakes head) At first, I didn't even want to come here, but now I don't want to leave! (rubs chin) Hmmm...should I call my mom and dad? (thinks for a moment) Maybe I will! (grabs phone and calls Angela)

Angela: (Picks up after the second ring) Gio! Good timing here, I and your father was getting to have lunch!

Gio: What are you having, mom?

Angela: Mainly broiled vegetables, a couple of chicken legs, and biscuits smothered in gravy. Your father and I are in a restaurant. Your father ordered for a burger, onion rings, and a vegetable slaw.

Gio: Oh, that sounds good! I'm...kind of upset right now. I'll be home in 4 days, and it feels like just yesterday, I was landing here.

Angela: Wow, the summer went so fast. Four more days...Do you want me to make your favorites for the returning home meal? And why are you kind of upset? What has happened? (Gasps) Is Nani or Lilo hurt?

Gio: No...no one got hurt. (sighs) I'm just sad that this trip is almost over! Its ironic, because at first, I wanted NOTHING to do with Hawaii, but now...I kind of don't want to leave!

Angela: (Hums warmly) I thought so. Your father and I was rather hoping that you'd be changed somewhat by Hawaii. You're not stressed anymore, you're happier every time you call, and you haven't had anything incidental with bullies or anything of that sort. Gio, we thought we were losing you since that day with the bully. He nearly attempted to seriously harm you! You became this sarcastic, harsh, closed heart person...We saw hints of the old you at home after school and summertime, but we were afraid that the stranger inside you was taking over because you couldn't move on fully from that day...Yes, your father gave justice for you, but are we sure it was fully justice?...

Gio: Mom...y-y-you did this whole trip for me over THAT?!

Angela: (Sighs) It was both the hardest and easiest decision your father and I had ever made, and Gio...when you return home, we want to hear and see you say that you're at peace, that you're back to your old self, our wonderful, mischievous, thoughtful, and open-minded son, face to face. But we will wait for you to say that when you feel like it's time. It's your own decision. We love you so much, Gio...(Grunts in surprise) Here's your father.

Robert: Your mother's right. Putting that bully in juvenile jail made me feel better, seeing justice for you, but yet when I see you alone with your thoughts, I kept seeing pain in those eyes of yours, son, I didn't feel better then, only worried. You became so reserved, judging other people, why, even other kids at school too! I just wanted to have those days again where your laughter doesn't stop during video games with invited kids or talking on the phone to plan the day out with a sparkle in your eyes, or that smile when you talk about your exploring adventures of the day over dinner...I just want you to be free again...to be our friendly, outgoing, curious, and adventurous son again...
