Gio: He literally would destroy everything in his path!
Lilo: True, but he wouldn't if we taught him to be good!
Gio: But he didn't speak English, so you couldn't have been able to communicate with him.
Jumba: True, but you forget I am genius scientist! I would be inventing something specular!
Stitch: He huge so maybe he can swim to deep water, find things for humans.
Gio: But...the thing is, you still need him to talk to us as well, not just have him understand us!
Jumba: I can be inventing something to translate his growls and grumbling into plain English.
Pleakley: Still, he's terrifying huge! Even I don't think he could fit on Kauai as the island is way smaller than Skull Island, from the looks of it.
Gio: Yep, it seems that size would also be another issue and trying to tame him.
Nani: Gio and Pleakley have great points, Lilo, and (yawns) I would think Kong would be happier in his own homeland of Skull Island. After all, he knows it like (yawns) the back of his hand.
David: (Laughs) That's my cue to head home. I am about bushed, and I better get some sleep in. (Yawns) Oh, now you've infected me with the yawning, Nani.
Lilo: Yeah, I guess you're right, Nani. Skull Island is his home either way. (Yawns) Come on, Stitch, let's get those beanbags back in storage before we brush our teeth for bedtime.
Stitch: Ih, coming, (yawns), coming, Lilo.
Gio (walks over to Nani): Aunt Nani?
Nani: (Smiles warmly yet tiredly) Yes, Gio?
Gio: Thanks...thanks for having me over here for the summer...(hugs her) Thank you.
Nani: (Relishes in the hug warmly) You're very welcome, cuz. (Pulls back gently) Maybe one day, I and Lilo can visit New York, hmm? There's a part of me who wants to see the view atop Lady Liberty.
Gio (chuckles): Well, that day will be a great one in my life.
Nani: (Grins) I will hold you on that offer. (Yawns) Now, we all must get some sleep as you are to be leaving early in the morning, and of course, be there in the afternoon as I believe you wouldn't want to miss out on one of your infamous parents' chef skills for dinner, right?
Gio (nods): Are there any leftovers from today's breakfast that I can have tomorrow?
Nani: Yes, quite some leftovers, through you might want to have the easier, faster leftovers refired in the microwave. I mean, there must be snacks and water bottles or juice boxes in the airplane for a early lunch or whatever.
Gio (shakes head): I'll eat whatever I like from the leftovers, Aunt Nani. I'm not going to skimp on breakfast on my final day here, especially with so many waffles and stuff left over.
Nani: Ah, gotcha. I just don't want you to be late and miss your plane. (Yawns) I am getting sleepy. Anything else, Gio?
Gio (shakes head): Nah, I'm good. Good night! (stops hugging Nani and walks off)
Nani: (Calls out) Good night, Gio! (Laughs softly to herself) I wish I would see Uncle Robert and Aunt Angela's faces once they see that they got their son back...That phone call sure was a surprise...
Jumba (walking in): Son back? Huh?
Nani: Jumba? I thought you were already heading to bed. (Sighs) How much did you hear?
Jumba: Well, I came out for a little H2O, but I overheard what you said...
Nani: Oh...Well, you remember the day that I told you that I got a money transfer from Gio's parents? (Jumba nods in affirmation) Shortly after I saw the check in that envelope, I was shocked, I suppose, and I wanted to call them, to say that they didn't have to do that, but when they dismissed the check, soon telling me the truth about Gio, how he was a stranger to them since the incident, how he is reacting to situations, and keeping up walls most of the time.
Jumba: So...you made this trip about helping him?
Nani: It was more of their idea, but yes, this trip was meant for him to be helped on all angles. They made me promise to keep it secret until the very last week/day of Gio's stay. You have seen his reactions toward the cousins, Hamsterviel, Lilo pressuring him on certain things, etc., yes?
Jumba: Well...to be fair, Hamsterviel, being an evil genius, would scare ANYONE...but the blender was overkill, I'll admit.
Nani: (Winces) I 100% agree with you on that one. Of course, luckily, Gio got over his fear of aliens, and he admires all of the cousins, and of course, is fond of you and Pleakley and Stitch.
Jumba: Now, we all heard what that bully did to him. I mean...jeez, I could see why Gio had his fears. Poor Gio...
Nani: (Sighs) Yeah...Thank god that all the scars from that incident healed...I wouldn't imagine that he would do well with looks of pity from people, even when he reformed back to his old self by now.
Jumba: Well, Gio is alive and well, and he's more open-minded, too!
Nani: Yes, you're absolutely right, Jumba. (yawns) I will tell him at breakfast tomorrow. He will understand, and once his plane leaves the ground, I will call his parents that he is in newfound peace and happiness, and for them to know that they finally have their son back to who he truly is.
Jumba: I don't think he'll be mad at all...if anything, he'll thank you and his parents...unless they already told him and he's happy about it, that is...
Nani: (Shrugs) I don't know if they told him on one of their weekly calls, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. (Yawns and looks at the clock) I gotta head to bed. Good night, Jumba.
Jumba (pats her left shoulder): Goodnight, Nani.
Nani: (Smiles tiredly and walks off to her bedroom through the hallway)
Pleakley (comes out): I overheard it all, too...boy, Gio has changed a lot!
Jumba: Indeed. I swear this house has seen more than overheard conversations. You came for water too? (Raises one of his eyes slightly)
Pleakley: Actually, I came to make sure the DVD is back in its case, so one of us can return it tomorrow.
Jumba: Ah, right. Luckily, Blockbuster has one of those indoor drop-off things.
Pleakley: Anyway, I'm going to miss Gio. He was such an amazing addition to our ohana here!
Jumba: (Laughs quietly) He brought more life to the house, that's for sure. One thing to miss from him is his fabulous chef skills...Oh, by Turo, I swear he's even better than Frenchfry.
Pleakley: You don't think Frenchfry would get upset if he heard that?
Jumba: (Smirks lightly) Did you forget that one time that Gio invited Frenchfry and that Frenchfry tried Gio's food?
Pleakley: Oh...
Jumba: My point exactly. Well, I better drink some water while you get that dvd back in the case.
Pleakley (goes to DVD player and ejects DVD from it): Man, what a summer this has been...
Jumba: (Grabs a water bottle out of refrigerator and starts to drink out of it, sipping between bits of conversation) Sure is.
Pleakley: How does it feel that Hamsterviel is...well...dead?
Jumba: (Sighs wearily) I'll admit, I am conflicted between feeling happy and feeling sad. He was my friend first before he became my enemy, you know?
Pleakley: But Gio convinced the Grand Councilwoman to make us safe and happy.
Jumba: Yes, but you couldn't blame Gio. After all, if I wasn't blind to Hamsterviel's insecure ways, or his desperate want for recognition, I would have steered him away from that dark path somehow...
Pleakley: Gio just felt that with Hamsterviel around, we would never be safe.
Jumba: I know. When Gio said that Hamsterviel accepted his death in peace, I was relieved because he sounded like the Hamsterviel I knew so long ago.
Pleakley: Will you miss him?
Jumba: If you're talking about Hamsterviel, yes, I will miss him. It will be a long time, but I will see him again when it's my time to go.
Pleakley (puts DVD back into its case): Well, I was talking about him, yes.
Jumba: (Smiles) When it's time to see Hamsterviel again, I will challenge him to a game of chess. It has been ages since we've done chess. I believe I beat him the very last time before he got lost in himself.
Pleakley: But if he's dead, how can you play chess?
Jumba: (Raises a eye) This is why I call you noodle-head, Pleakley! I am talking about the afterlife.
Pleakley: Oh...(laughs)
Jumba: Yep. (Exhales and looks at the clock) Come on, let's get to bed.
Pleakley (places DVD case on kitchen counter): You got it.
(Jumba and Pleakley then heads to their bedroom through the hallway from the combo of living room/kitchen)
(The scene cuts to show Lilo and Stitch in their bedroom, looking over their improved photo album of the many moments they enjoyed with Gio over the summer...)
Lilo: Look, Stitch, at Gio in that Fourth of July party. Boy, he sure was having fun with his sparkler. It was cool that Gio made up a game, calling it Sparkler Tag!
Stitch: Ih, ih! Food was really good from grill.
Lilo: Gio is a great cook!
Stitch: (Smiles warmly before sighing) Meega miss him lots.
Lilo (hugs Stitch): I'll miss him too, Stitch.
Stitch: (Nods and makes a big yawn) Sleepy.
Lilo: Yeah, you're right, we are definitely past bedtime curfew. Let's go to bed with this back on the shelf.
Stitch: Meega have idea for Christmas. Can weega take copies of favorites from book, send them to Gio on special tablet?
Lilo: That's a really good idea, Stitch!
Stitch: (Smiles widely)
Lilo: I'm sure Gio will love them!
Stitch: (Nods) Hope so. (Puts album book back on its shelf) Good night, Lilo. (Hugs Lilo and nuzzles her)
(Back in Nani's bedroom, as she prepared to go to bed at long last, she plugged in her phone to charge, and looked over the many photos of themselves and Gio taken over the summer...)
Nani: (Smiles) You sure gave us a great summer, Gio. (Yawns) Hard to believe that you're leaving in the morning...At least you'll be back with your parents. I bet they sure missed ya.
(The scene cuts to show Gio's parents back in their apartment in NYC, a few hours behind the nighttime in Hawaii, looking at their calendar happily, as it as, of course, August 30th...)
Angela: It's going to be so wonderful to have Gio back home, honey.
Robert: Yes, I can't wait to receive him at the airport. Are you sure you want to stay back?
Angela: (Smiles) Robert, I drove him to the airport. It's your turn to pick him up. And besides, you know it's beyond high time to do one of my infamous dinners, and of course, call Gio's school friends for a game sleepover night if Gio wants to do that.
Robert: (Chuckles) Let me guess, New York style?
Angela: Yep! Pizza, burgers, cheesecake, bagels, Black and Whites, banana pudding, cronuts, pierogi, hot dogs, cannoli, mac and cheese.
Robert: (Whistles) Boy, you are pulling out all the stops, dear. Should I distract Gio if you aren't done yet?
Angela (shakes head): If Gio wants to help out, I wouldn't stop him anyway in case if I am not finished by the time you two get home.
Robert: (Nods) True. You know, teenagers change their mind all the time. I wouldn't mind it if Gio goes for the job of being a professional chef. After all, from our calls with him, he said that he enjoyed making meals for Nani and the others.
Angela: Perhaps, but Gio admires you, honey. If he wants to follow in your footsteps, I support him all the way, through I couldn't help thinking that even with your career, it is sometimes dangerous...Have you been thinking about retirement sometime?
Robert (shakes head): Not for a long time, dear.
Angela: (Sighs lightly) I suppose I couldn't stop you, but could you at least consider doing part-time or something? We've been doing pretty well with my job as one of the directors in Broadway and your job, and I know Gio is to return back to school after Labor Day, but I certainly don't want to miss out on weekend time with him, you know?
Robert: Dear, my work rarely, if ever, cuts into weekends. You know that.
Angela: (Nods) Yes. It's just that with Gio starting over...you heard him, he has changed so much over this summer, I feel like I want to start over...
Robert: What do you mean by that?
Angela: Directing plays in Broadway has lost the luster for me...Like it's not right anymore...You know how much stress I was under while making and producing that Broadway show this summer...Sometimes I was too tired to even cook or even stay up with you on our romantic movie nights...
Robert (hugs Angela): Oh, honey, you're over thinking. Gio loved what we did, and I'm sure he'd want us to be happy with what we do no matter what. Don't worry about what Gio will think...I know he'd want us to be happy with our careers and work we put into them.
Angela: I suppose I am overreacting and over thinking, but I will ask Gio either way tomorrow night during dinner so I can put it behind me.
Robert: Honey, Gio will say what I know he will say. He knows that Broadway musicals is your thing, and he wouldn't want you to stop.
Angela: (Smiles) Somehow, I think you are right. (Glances at clock) Wanna order something for dinner?
Robert: Today was sure busy. I wouldn't have the energy to cook something. Chinese?
Angela: Yeah, Chinese sounds good to me.
Robert (gets out phone): Orange chicken?
Angela: (Grins) Yep, and I am feeling like egg drop soup and fried rice as well.
Robert: Noodles, too?
Angela: Not this time, darling.
Robert: But why?
Angela: I am not in the mood for noodles, Robert.
Robert: Could I get some then?
Angela: Oh, go ahead. And oh, ginger ale, please. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to see to the TV. I believe the Yankees are playing against the Detroit Tigers soon by a half hour. Oh, just imagine, 12 more hours and some to go before Gio's home!
Robert: Yeah...oh, I actually found time to speak with the judge who presided over that case of Gio's bully a while ago.
Angela: (Widens eyes in surprise as she fiddles with the remote) Really, before Labor Day Weekend? What did he say? Oh, please, tell me that the bully is changing prisons.
Robert: Yes, the judge agreed to put that bully into an adult prison after he ages out of his time in juvenile hall. I'm meeting with the parents in a few days to tell them that they should move out of state once their son's time in the adult prison is over.
Angela: (Sighs in relief) Thank goodness. I don't know what Gio will say, but it's about time! I couldn't blame them if they want to be on the other side of the country. I hear Oregon or Washington is nice, not expensive like California.
Robert: Well, Gio will feel safe, for sure. And... I'm so happy that our son is back. You know, the son who was more open-minded and happier back then.
Angela: Yes, it will be wonderful to hear his laughter again...I couldn't blame him if he wants to spend the whole Labor Day weekend with his city friends.
Robert: Well, let's see.
Angela: Indeed, my love.
Robert (smiles): I think we did the right thing for Gio.
Angela: Yes, I think we certainly saved Gio by sending him to Hawaii. Oh, he was upset about leaving New York City, but we did put the foot down.
Robert: What do you think would've happened if we didn't send him to Hawaii?
Angela: (Sighs) I don't wish to imagine, but I believe he'd have been more judgmental of people, especially when he'd have to do a part-time job after school for some needed experience...It's very possible he'd see the rules of being a lawyer as unfair or something...I know you had a stressful and hard time studying for the bar exam, Robert...
Robert: Well, it's a good thing Gio went to Hawaii, huh?
Angela: Yes, and from the sound of his voice over the phone those times, he was getting more relaxed, happier, more thoughtful every call.
Robert: And it was what we hoped for.
Angela: We have done a good job, my love, and I would go through the process of being a mother a hundred times over in order to save Gio, would you agree?
Robert: Yes, I do...
Angela: (Hears Robert's phone chime) You better check that. Our dinner must be on its way now.
Robert: Got it. And once again, I'm so happy Gio is coming home tomorrow!
Angela: (Smiles brightly) I can't wait to have him back in my arms, and see him at the table for dinner!
