Epilogue
(The scene cuts back to the inside of the plane 2 hours later at 12pm. By then, the plane had reached its cruising altitude of 32,000 feet and was flying smoothly through the sky. Gio happily got his duffel bag down from the overhead baggage compartment and then opened it after sitting back down into his seat, taking out the wrapped sandwich and box of fries, before unwrapping the sandwich and open in the box of fries and eating them up, one bite at a time...)
Gio: Oh, so good!
(Somewhere back in Kauai, Hawaii and up in outer space, two particular cousins smiled to themselves, feeling happy for some reason before realizing that Gio is eating their pre-made food and complimenting the tastes.)
Rueben: I feel that Gio is eating that sandwich!
Gantu: That's good news to hear, Rueben. I am sure he really likes it.
(Somewhere in Kauai, Hawaii, one of the other cousins noticed Frenchfry's happy mood, speaking in Tantolog)
Angel: You look happy, Frenchfry.
Frenchfry: I feel like Gio's eating my large order of French Fries!
Angel: Ah, that explains it. I bet he's enjoying it happily.
(Back in the air, about 20 minutes later, Gio had finished the sandwich and fries before putting both empty boxes to the side and grabbing the box with the cake inside. He opened it, and realized that he didn't have a fork to eat it...)
Gio: Crud, no fork...(sees flight attendant passing by) Oh, excuse me?
Flight Attendant: Yes, young sir?
Gio: Can I get a fork, please?
Flight Attendant: Oh, yes, of course. (Plucks out plastic fork with napkin from basket) Here you go, young sir.
Gio (grabs them): Thank you!
Flight Attendant: You're much welcome, young sir. Anything else you need?
Gio: No thanks. I'm good!
Flight Attendant: Understood, young sir. I'll leave you to your dessert, then. (Heads on with cart to check on other passengers.)
Gio (smiles and begins to eat the cake): Oh, so good.
(Back in Kauai, Hawaii, Frenchfry laughs lightly to himself)
Nosey: What's up, Frenchfry? What's so funny?
Frenchfry: Nothing funny. I am happy because I feel like Gio's eating my 6-layer, 6-inch chocolate cake!
Nosey: That's so cool! Glad that Gio likes chocolate, huh?
Frenchfry: Ih.
Nosey: But how can you tell he's eating it?
Frenchfry: (Gives him a raised eyebrow) He's ohana. I just know.
Nosey: Fair enough. He's sure to be happy to be back with his parents.
Nosey: Can you tell if he's landed yet?
Frenchfry: I only know when he's eating, and it's only a feeling for that. Still a few hours for plane to fly, I know time schedule.
(The scene cuts to a shot of the "American Airlines" plane landing on the runway at the "La Guardia International Airport" In New York City, meaning the end of Gio's summer vacation trip adventure. It was now 5:00pm, and the sky was a dark blue with no clouds. The scene then cuts to show the inside of the "American Airlines Arrivals" terminal of the airport, where Gio, with his duffle bag and laptop bag, made his way to a baggage carousel to get his luggage. After a few minutes, he found his 2 large suitcases, grabbed them off the belt, and then as he turned around, he saw 2 familiar people in the distance...it was none other than Angela and Robert...his mother and father...who he had not seen for 3 months...)
Gio (voiceover): Hawaii showed me what Ohana really means. It means the tight bond of a family...a bond that can never be broken, no matter how much that family goes through. Speaking of families, this moment here was my long-awaited reunion with my mom and dad.
Gio (gasps): Mom! Dad! (Rushes up to them)
Robert: Son!
Angela: Gio!
(The couple rushes up to Gio, and they hug together, smiling and tears falling.)
Gio (hugs them both tightly): I missed you both so much!
Angela: Oh, darling, we have missed you too! Look at you! You're so tan!
Robert: You look great. How was Kauai and the family?
Gio (laughs): I'm not tan! (Wipes tear) And I LOVED the family! Nani invited me back to come next summer!
Angela: That's wonderful news! And how are you, considering the fact that...well, we sent you there to be a better self of you?
Gio (Holds Angela's hands) Mom...I was broken with trauma before I left. But now...I feel so much better! I feel like I can accomplish anything I want to do. I feel like I can be more open-minded to anything now. I feel like...mom, you got your son back, and he's here to stay!
Angela: (Sobs happily and caresses Gio's cheek warmly) Oh, that makes me so happy. Oh, yes, I can see that the sparkle in your eyes is back. And you look way less stressed and more relaxed, Gio.
Robert: (Smiles and ruffles Gio's hair fondly) Great to have you back, son. Kauai has done you a lot of good. Now, let's not loiter here anymore, and head home, shall we? (Helps pick up the 2 large suitcases)
Gio (grins and grabs onto duffle bag and laptop bag): Let's go! When we get back, I would love to show you some of the gifts I got!
Angela: That sounds like a good plan to me, and of course, we will create dinner together for we're family.
Robert: Indeed. We're the Pelekai Family on this side of the country and...drat, I forgot what ohana means.
Gio: Sounds delicious, mom! What are you making?!
Angela: Your favorites, New York Style. Pizza, burgers, cheesecake, bagels, Black and Whites, banana pudding, cronuts, pierogi, hot dogs, cannoli, mac and cheese.
Gio (gasps): All of that?!
Robert: Your mother really is determined to make this night wonderful for your homecoming. I now remember what Ohana means. Ohana means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
Angela: (Walking outside the airport, and sees the landmarks of New York City, smiling at Gio) Let's go home, Gio. New York awaits us.
(The scene cuts to show everyone seated together at the dining room table back in the penthouse apartment at around 7:00pm. By then, the sun had finally set below the horizon and the family was enjoying the massive New York City meal that Angela prepared...)
Gio (voiceover): So there I was, over 9 hours later, I was finally back in New York City with my mother and father after 92 days of being separated from them. I admit, this trip really did rehabilitate me, and it really helped me become the better version of myself and my mother and father used to know.
Gio (finishes pizza slice): So Lilo LOVES science-fiction!
Angela: (Chuckles) Sounds like Lilo's a fan of movie nights.
Robert: Was her dog well-behaved with you? Stitch, wasn't it?
Gio: Oh, that dog was SO CUTE! I loved going on walks with him and taking him to some local attractions!
Angela: That's a relief. I knew you had a general distrust of dogs. And what about the adopted uncles, the ones from Canada?
Gio: Oh, they were okay and all! However, they were very shy, so they asked me not to take any photos of them.
Robert: (Nods) Everybody has their own preferences. Anyway, I am so glad you're finally home, son.
Angela: Yes. I am so happy to have you back here, and I am so excited for the weekends and everything so we can spend time with you...unless you have some pre-thought plans to spend them with your school friends. I couldn't blame you there as you would want to catch up with them sooner or later.
Gio (puts fork down): About that...mom, Labor Day weekend is coming up now, right?
Angela: Yes, I know it's coming up. What do you have in mind, Gio?
Gio: Well...I...I was wondering if I could invite my friends, Raymond, Henry, and Oliver over for a Labor Day weekend sleepover.
Angela: Oh, sweetheart, you don't have to ask. Ask them to talk with their parents to see if that's okay, and if any of them is free to come over, they can stay for the sleepover.
Gio: Could you make the calls to their parents, mom? I'm so excited to be back, that I'm worried I'll freak out with excitement over the phone! (smiles)
Angela: (Smiles) I will call them tomorrow, but tonight is our family night, understand? I want you all to myself, and Robert, of course.
Robert: Is that a deal, Gio?
Gio: Yes, dad, it's a deal! (picks up drinking glass of a chocolate milkshake) To my long-awaited return!
Angela: (Picks up drinking glass of white milk) To the Pelekai families, from New York City and Kauai!
Robert: (Picks up drinking glass of cola) To Ohana!
Gio (clinks glasses together with Angela and Robert's glasses): To Ohana!
Angela: To Ohana! (Smiling brightly)
(The scene then faded to a brief montage with emotional music playing in the background, showing various moments including a transition to the next morning with Angela calling the parents of Gio's friends, the friends all arriving a few hours later, Gio and his friends playing video games together, Robert and Angela serving them "Pizza Hut" pizzas of various flavors and various side dishes for lunch, everyone seeing a Broadway show called "Bob's Burgers: The Musical" together in the evening, them all talking about personal stuff together with getting in their sleeping bags before going to bed at night, and many more moments of the "new" Gio having a fun labor day weekend with his friends, and all before fading to the Tuesday after Labor Day ended, where Gio and his friends were stepping off a school bus outside of their high school, "New York Public High School" to begin their first day of the 10th grade. It was now 8:55am, and most students were arriving on various school buses to get back home...)
Gio (to Raymond): Well...this is it...time to begin 10th grade!
Raymond: Yeah, dude! We aced 9th grade, and there is just 3 more left to go!
Gio: And you know? We GOT to hang out on weekends more often!
Oliver: Yeah, I agree, Gio! Ever since you got back from Hawaii, you seem...so...different!
Gio (chuckles): Oliver, I wouldn't call myself "different"...
Henry: Then...what would you call yourself?
Gio: Hmmm...oh, changed for the better!
Raymond: And you know what? I'm all for that!
(Suddenly, a loud bell, "RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!", went off, signaling to students to begin to go off and find their assigned homerooms before school started at 9:00am...)
Gio: Oh, shoot! Time to head to class! Come on, guys! (walks fast toward the front doors of the school)
(As Gio and his friends, along with many other students began to enter the school building, the scene faded to show a large timelapse of 9 months passing by, all while showing the entire city of New York City from a far wide shot. As this happened, a final voiceover from Gio occurred in the background...)
Gio (voiceover): So, my life changed for the better after the trip. I became more open-minded, happy, and overall, a better-feeling person. I had the courage to try new things, and I had the newfound respect for traveling far away from home. My mom and dad did the right thing by sending me Hawaii for the summer. It might not have been the trip I was expecting at first, but it was worth it in the end. And as the months passed by, it was time for a big moment...my return to Hawaii. It was June 1st, 2007, and I was now 16 years old. I was booked to spend time with Aunt Nani once again, from June 1st through August 31st, 2007. As my "American Airlines" plane landed in Hawaii at 2:00pm, my Hawaiian Ohana was arriving at the airport to see me a year later...
(The scene then cuts to show an exterior shot of the "Kauai International Airport", where in the parking lot nearby, the Pelaki family jeep drove into the lot, and parked in a nearby spot. Nani was driving, and after parking in the spot, she turned off the ignition. Once parked in the spot, Lilo, Nani, Stitch, Jumba, Pleakley, and David all got out of the jeep, and walked eagerly towards the doors of the "American Airlines Arrivals" terminal...)
David: It'd be so great to see Gio again!
Lilo: Yeah! And I got plenty of photos to show him!
Stitch: Cousins excited to make another summer with Gio!
Pleakley: Yes, it's finally time to do a first summer day of dinner!
Jumba: I be wondering if he had practice with ship model. Maybe take him out for ride later after dinner.
(The scene cuts to then show the inside of the "American Airlines Arrivals" terminal, showing Gio grabbing his 2 large suitcases off the nearest baggage carousel. As he does this, another voiceover occurred...)
Gio (voiceover): I was wondering who would pick me up from the airport this time. As I grabbed my luggage after my 9 hour and 15-minute flight, I turn turned around, and saw that, waiting for me in the distance, was none other than...yes, you guessed it, my Hawaiian ohana!
Gio (turns around after grabbing bags): Now, to see where...(gasps as he sees his Ohana in the distance) L-LILO! NANI! SITITCH! UNCLE JUMBA AND PLEAKLEY! DAVID! (runs over to them) You...you're all here! (runs faster towards them) I MADE IT! I'M HERE NOW!
Nani: GIO! (Grabbing the others' attention, and they see Gio)
Everybody else: (With smiles and grins) GIO!
Gio (rushes over to them and hugs everyone): I'm back, everyone! The year has passed, hasn't it?!
Lilo: Sure did! (Giggles)
Stitch: Ih!
Jumba: Good to see you, bigger boy! You even a bit more taller than before, but not taller than David-boy.
David: Hey, dude! You're looking good!
Pleakley: Oh, Gio, I missed you!
Nani: (Laughs) It's great to have you back, Gio! Come on, gang, let's get Gio home and enjoy our first summer evening!
Gio (stops the group hug): You got it! (grabs onto bags) Let's go!
(The scene then cuts to show Gio and everyone else getting into the van, and Nani starting it up again. The jeep then backs out of the parking spot and begins driving away from the airport. As it does, the camera zooms out very slowly, showing the jeep driving out of the airport parking lot, and onto the nearest highway ramp towards Kauai. As this scene occurs, some very emotional epilogue music plays in the background, and the final voiceover narration from Gio is heard...)
Gio (voiceover): This entire adventure has taught me a very important lesson about family values and love. People will do anything to help you out, even if you don't agree with it yourself at first. In the end, you will thank your loved ones for what they did to help you, especially when you see the life-changing impact it has had on you. And as I went off to reunite with all of my alien cousins, I never forgot the gifts they gave me from my last trip. They included David's seashell necklace, Grand Councilwoman's special tablet, Frenchfry's French fries and chocolate cake, Rueben's sandwich with all my favorite ingredients, the color alien figurine from Slick, and many more. All of those gifts were more than just things...they were very sentimental and reminded me of a life-changing trip that I took in the summer of 2006. And as my 2007 summer vacation in Hawaii began, I knew one lesson that I can ALWAYS remember from my time in Hawaii..."Ohana means family. Ohana means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." And that is my story about my ohana! And now, it's time for me to say...The End!
(As Gio's voiceover finishes, the emotional music playing in the background trails off and the scene fades to black, finishing the movie/RP once and for all. And then, as some Hawaiian music plays in the background, a 5-minute credits sequence occurs. And afterwards, the camera zooms out to reveal, in a funny fourth wall joke, an empty movie theater as the red curtains covers the movie screen, and Kim Possible, and Ron Stoppable are seen sitting down in the very front row of seats in a now-empty theater, having watched the 3-hour movie together. At that point, the lights all come back on, signaling that the movie is over...)
Kim: Well, that was quite long, but hey, he was right. Family looks after family.
Ron: I agree with that, and dang, the action scenes were intense. I think Rufus would have loved the food, and probably the waterpark.
Rufus: Uh-huh!
Usher (walks over to them): Uh...excuse me, you two?
Kim: I know, we're just about to leave!
Ron: We're complimenting about the movie, that's all, man!
Usher (stern): Yes...you folks have to leave.
Rufus: (Snorts as if he's insulted by the tone)
Ron: Easy, man. So, what do you think about the spaceship, KP? (Getting up) I would be freaked out if the dweebs build something like that.
Kim: Jumba's spaceship is really cool. But (shudders) I would really hope the dweebs knows better than that. Dad would go bonkers! (Getting up to follow Ron)
(And as both Kim, Ron, and Rufus (carried by Ron) stepped out of the theater, the usher began to clean up the mess of popcorn, candy, and trash on the floor, all as the scene faded to black for one final time, ending this role play/movie.)
THE END!
